Guest Reviews
- Angelika (10/5): A warm, beautifully styled country retreat — the perfect base for our Grampians hiking weekend. - Everything! The house is absolutely beautiful — cozy, stylish, and full of thoughtful touches. You can really tell how much love and care has gone into every detail, from the farmhouse décor to the warm lighting, comfy couches, and wood fire that made the evenings so relaxing. The verandah was the perfect spot for a morning coffee surrounded by nature, and the whole place felt like a peaceful retreat after a day hiking in the Grampians. We loved how homely yet elegant it felt — a true country escape done perfectly. N/a
- Laura (9/5): Superb -
- Sinisa (10/5): A beautiful, inviting home providing a relaxing atmosphere in stunning surroundings and nature. - Inviting, cosy and comfortable
- Adam (9/5): Superb - Location was great, nice and quiet, very comfortable home where the owners have thought of everything. Having to return home, would have liked to stay a little longer.
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location, very close to shops and places to eat. Very comfortable house, styled exceptionally well. The host was very friendly and very responsive to messages or questions. Loved the chocolates and wine. We felt very welcome. We would love to stay again. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Michelle (9/5): Great place for a short stay. - Very quaint and great location… attention to detail was A+ The security cameras were a little unnerving and the pages of rules unwelcoming.
Understand the necessity but the relaxing element was not there…
- David (4/5): Disappointing stay due to standard of cleaning/response/rules and regulations. - Location was good, only 10 minute walk from the centre of Halls Gap.
The owners had provided various types of tea bags, coffee pods, a bottle of wine and chocolates, which were a nice touch. There were also various oils, seasonings etc in the cupboard which were useful.
The interior decoration was attractive. Unfortunately, there was a real issue with the level of cleaning in the house, the patios and the outdoor furniture.
On entering the house, we immediately noticed that there were cobwebs on a number of the ceilings and wall spotlights in the lounge and bathroom.. Some of the "nick knacks" in the kitchen were coated in grime/dust and the outdoor furniture in the front and back garden had thick cobwebs in places. It was apparent that these had not been cleaned for some time.. We live in the countryside and have trees all around us so we do know that thick cobwebs and general grime don't appear after a few days! A lovely couple did come out and clean the dining set in the front garden so this was much appreciated.
It's a nice property, but the house needs a deep clean over and above the usual cleaning of the bathroom, kitchen etc.
We contacted the owners immediately upon arrival and spent our first two hours taking and sending photos. The initial response was very disappointing but the attitude changed a bit once they had viewed the photos. Not once was there any apology or regret but we did appreciated the bottle of wine they offered us for our inconvenience.
We also were disheartened by the number of rules and regulations that accompanied our stay...both in writing before we got there and around the house on notices. Our 'favourite ' was the one that said that we would be charged for the call out of a TV repairman if we did something to the TV. There really is no need and this gave us a very uncomfortable feeling throughout our stay.
On the whole we did not enjoy our stay I'm afraid...which was the exception for our wonderful 5 week Australian adventure.
- Marcella (10/5): Very comfortable - Everything. We had wildlife in the backyard even Nothing. Everything you needed.
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cotter (9/5): Cozy stay in Hall’s Gap - Great communication with owners- very attentive. Super location; house well equipped, especially the kitchen. Lots of windows and light. Cozy feel. Easy walk to town. Definitely recommend!
- Kellie (9/5): Perfect spot to explore the Grampians - Cedar Country Retreat was the perfect base for catching up with friends. We walked the Pinnacle from the house. Warm house, comfy beds, well appointed. Vicki and Ash were responsive to our questions and even organised fit additional wood during our stay. Recommend as a great spot to stay for a few days in Winter to walk the Grampians The property met our needs
- Larryk (10/5): Beautiful country retreat location - Beautiful location close to the heart of Halls Gap. Convenient to all the walks we wanted to do with all the comforts of home. We loved the cosy retreat feel and log fire. The bathrooms were well stocked with all we needed and the kitchen had everything to assist us in preparing a meal. Comfortable beds. Friendly wildlife in the backyard was a special surprise. Would love to come back and stay again. We would have loved an extra armchair while relaxing in the lounge as there were 6 of us, with lounge seating for only 5.
- Chris (9/5): Loved it!! - It was beautiful. lovely and green compared to other areas around town. We had a family of kangaroos feeding on the green grass and cockatoos landing on the back porch. The property is not directly in town but we liked that.
