• Stacey (8/5): - Nice and clean, had everything we needed, very comfortable stay. The communal BBQ area was very nice. Parking on the side of the road with the low overhanging trees and a lot of traffic going past at all hours made it a bit difficult, we struggled to get things in and out of the canopy.

• Abbie (8/5): Was good as a base to explore Maggie island - Like the gardens, lots of space within the property, along with a washing machine and dryer I had no hot water, later found out the owner forgot to turn it on No USB charging points Air conditioner goes off when leave property as key fob to make it work attached to keys 3 air conditioner units in the property alas took forever to cool down and only the one in living area worked to its full potential Chairs weren’t that comfortable Large refundable breakage deposit
• Jessica (7/5): Relaxing, beautiful, convenient and amazing vibes - Absolutely loved the outdoor shower. Vibe of the pool was amazing all the gardens and how central it was. I just loved everything about it. It was just so conveniently nice relaxing and good. That was a couple of cobwebs around and I don’t know I’m a cleaner so I’m pretty picky about clean cleanliness but that’s it. Really like a couple okay? A few garden cockroaches came inside here and there but that’s to be expected with all the gardens which are beautiful by the way.

• Gardner (9/5): Enjoyable! - It had a lovely pool & barbecue area. Everything you needed for a stay inside as well. Monica was very helpful. It was a little smaller than we envisaged but turned out to be quite adequate.

Everything you need in the property. Comfortable bed. Air conditioning. Pretty much everything How the air con turned off when you went out. You came back to an extremely hot unit and took ages to cool down.

No milk in the fridge on arrival (which we have had at every other accommodation in Australia) - helpful for a cuppa on arrival. Extra towels would have been helpful.

• Cockayne (8/5): Our stay was pleasant aside from the mozzies the first night. It’s 4 stars from us - The property had nice surroundings and was centrally located. The unit was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The bedroom had several mosquitoes which made for an uncomfortable first night, as the unit had no fly spray we went and bought some which improved the next nights sleep. The bathroom is a little tight around the vanity and the unit didn’t have a hairdryer

The ambience is catching - spotlessly clean! The shower is very slow - takes extra long to shower and wash hair so not sure the water saving device is worth it but being an outdoor shower delightful anyway

The bus driver's even started dropping us out front. We loved the shower being partially outdoors. Air conditioning in all rooms. Comfy beds. Access to pool and a magnificent BBQ area. Great tropical island place to stay and relax. Nothing

The cottage was ideal with separate sleeping areas. Loved the outdoor shower. The watering system overnight, which I thought was rain at first. Got used to it on the second night.

• Sean (10/5): 3 days in Nelly Bay. - What a fantastic little cottage! I wandered down to Shambala from the Sealink terminal on Magnetic, easy walk with luggage. Cottage 1 is set in a serene tropical garden, super clean with enough room for 2 to 3 people to enjoy their inside time. Monica was extremely gracious and does a brilliant job looking after the property. Loads of wildlife, groovy outdoor shower, good little kitchen with extra touches. Recommended. .

• Sonya (8/5): I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely consider staying here again! - A lovely place, serene, private, incredible bird life, very close to the bus stop, beautiful surroundings, good kitchen facilities, very convenient washing machine and drier. The only thing that was a little bit problematic were the little tiny insects that were everywhere, particularly in the bathroom. But then again, it's North Queensland!

• Deborah (9/5): An unusual and delightful place to stay - An extraordinary place, it’s like a little rainforest in a suburb. Spacious and comfortable. Outside spaces to sit, eat and watch the wildlife. We used the huge barbecue and ate at the outside table. The open air shower was an experience. The whole place seemed to be exploding with wildlife.

We enjoyed views to beautifully maintained tropical gardens in every direction. We also enjoyed the outdoor bathroom which included a small garden. The pool was cold and could do with solar heating.

I loved it very much.

• Kelcey (9/5): Good value, great tropical garden setting, very relaxed atmostphere - The gardens are beautiful and the pool is secluded and refreshing. In unit 1 There are three rooms and each bedroom opens out to a small private patio area. There is an enormous BBQ so we cooked up breakfast and ate alfresco on the outside main patio where the BBQ area has a large table and chairs in the garden setting.

• Greg (8/5): Very good - The cottage was better then we thought .very comfortable . lots of room for 4 people… but unfortunately it rained so much we didn’t get to see much of what the property offered … we had a few issues but thankfully Monica sorted those out best to her ability.. would we stay again yes but not in torrential rain with young kids … Septic toilet .. and no internet could be a plus .. DVD player was our savour.. Ty
• Angela (8/5): Balinese Retreat - The Balinese Gardens, swimming pool, large BBQ area communal area however this was only whilst we were there alone, little bit harder when there's more families staying but loved the private seating area outside the bedroom and the privacy between rooms. We were missing a Doona from the Queen bed in main room and there was blankets on all other beds. No accessible extra pillows or blankets hidden in cupboard.

• Caldwell (5/5): Shambles Cottages - the distance to town was good In the cottage that we stayed in was very old and outdated. Quite expensive l thought for what it was. $155 per night Very uncomfortable furniture. The air-conditioning only worked in one room , but there were three units. single bed for an adult was not ideal . l did see one of the other cottages and it was modern and lovely. We dipped out.

Felt like one was in the midst of a beautiful garden but protected from the surrounds by screened windows. Love the bathroom. Beautiful plug pool to cool off. Nothing really although I think at least one air conditioner was not working. Did not really miss the air conditioner as the fans were enough.
• Garry (10/5): Exceptional - Very relaxed place with all the necessary kitchen gear to allow catering at home. Air flow meant that we didn't need AC and the openair shower was lovely. Comfortable bed and pillows so slept well.

• Graeme (10/5): Tropical Hideaway devoid of traffic + nightlife yet only a short distance from all facilities - Where do I start? 1. The spotlessly clean huge BBQ facility just outside the door. 2. The immaculate tropical garden enviornment 3. The huge rooms with Blackwood period furniture and an outside private shower that you sometimes find in Fiji Resorts 4. The serenity of being away from noisy town and streets 5. The charming manageress who "quietly" queried if all was in order and to our liking. The Miji's and Mozies that "hide" in the lush tropical garden ..... Don't forget to pack the Bushman's!
