Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (9/5): A wonderful property! - Beautiful view, centrally located to Penneshaw, and really comfortable. We loved the vibe! If you need the internet, we found the connection to be sluggish.
- Ganqin (10/5): -

- Jennifer (8/5): Relaxing - Location
View
Had everything we needed Lights could do with some work so they dont blow the
Circuit or turn the TV offline
Note to use lamps instead would be good
- Richard (9/5): -
- Wendy (7/5): - Views and location. Easy to cook meals as plenty of pots and pans. Kangaroos and watching dolphins from the balcony. The gravel driveway and gravel pathway to the house entrance
- Leannebb (9/5): Peaceful retreat - Very peaceful and relaxing Nothing...wish we could have stayed longer
- Patricia (9/5): Perfect place to stay in Pennenshaw - Very comfortable

- Julie (9/5): Exactly what we needed. - Comfortable, homely and had all the facilities we needed. Beautiful views. Enjoyed the fresh eggs. Enjoyed the local Kangaroos. The path up from the car parking area could be improved.
- Emilie (10/5): Perfect! - The location, the view, the kangaroos in the backyard, the well equipped kitchen, the cozy livingroom!
- Helen (9/5): -
- Stefano (10/5): Amazing experience. The lodge is incredible, we spent two nights there and we felt as we were at home. Jess is a fantast - Amazing view, fully equipped, very clean and tidy. Nothing to mention.
- Martin (10/5): Fabulous view, facilities and decor. - the property made a short stay easy with everything provided including condiments! Nothing
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Hari (10/5): Lovely Stay Close to Nature - Awesome, beautiful place with the true soul of Kangaroo Island. My 8-year-old daughter absolutely loved it! Kangaroos hopping around in the mornings and evenings added so much charm — and we even saw a joey being milked in the backyard, which was a joy.
Thanks, Jess, for the lovely stay! On the first night, we found it quite difficult to locate the house in the dark. The front lights weren’t on when we arrived, and we had to disturb a neighbour to find the property. This was the only issue we experienced.
- Jane (8/5): Well-presented homely accommodation with lovely views - Very homely, with everything we needed and great views. Enjoyed visits from Fairy wren and wallabies. The driveway and access to house very steep and slippery - you need to be reasonably mobile to negotiate it.
Not with walking distance of shop/cafes but there is a very good IGA in town and pub with great food
- Hilary (10/5): Just a really lovely stay - This is a lovely, homely and comfortable house, in a great location. Our host was friendly and accommodating. The house had everything we needed for a four night stay. Highly recommend.
- Anita (10/5): Exceptional - Homely and welcoming. Access to nature with a beautiful view was exceptional.
- Jacquie (9/5): A wildlife lover’s dream - Lovely, spacious, homely property, with everything you could need. Best of all, the resident kangaroos, who come so close to the house, and also wallabies, glossy black cockatoos and galahs. Wonderful for wildlife lovers, a real treat.
- Phil (10/5): Loved this place. Watch kangaroo’s from your lounge chair - We loved our stay here. A view of the ferry’s passing by from our bedroom window to kangaroos looking in from the back door. It is in a handy location near the ferry terminal and the Penshaw pub.
The home is rustic, but very comfortable and clean. The bed is comfy and there is a lot of room. It was nice that the house has a homely feeling with family nicnack’s on display. We would definitely stay here again. We enjoyed everything although I would warn that if you have small or low car, the driveway would be difficult. We have a 4WD, so it wasn’t a problem for us.
- Annette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beverley (8/5): Very good - Space to spread out. Washing facilities. Wonderful views and locations. Kangaroos at the back door. Comfortable beds. Sheoak Lodge had everything we needed. Steep driveway. A second bathroom would have been good.
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keeley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Lovely house - Lovely pretty and homely
- Sayuma (9/5): Home away from home - Perfect house in a great location. Well kitted with everything you could need available. Kangaroos in abundance surrounding the property. Perfect stay. Thanks
- Greg (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (4/5): Disappointed - Kangaroos every morning by the back door. The sea views were great The master bedroom was too small. The was nowhere to put your clothes the house was dusty like it doesn't get cleaned properly you walk with no socks or shoes inside and your feet get dirty because the floor boards are dirty the was no footpath to the house the driveway was not completed
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (9/5): Superb - The view. The balcony. The driveway, lol.
- Patrick (9/5): Superb - Jess was a lovely host. We we got stuck without a vehicle and she went out of the way to help us. Wonderful , comfortable place. One of our highlights of the stay is seeing a Kangaroo family in the backyard at breakfast time.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (8/5): Cosy, warm and inviting after a huge day exploring the wonders of KI. - Home away from home atmosphere.
Eclectic design and relaxed feel with all the comforts of home and more. The new driveway could do with an apron for small cars.
- Marjorie (10/5): A wonderful place to stay for a honeymoon! - It was a comfy cottage, not far from the ferry and suited mother and daughter well. I’m 83 and quite fit, but the walk from the car to the house up a steep, uneven path was a challenge, especially if an elderly couple stayed there. My daughter helped with the luggage so we were fine and there was a trolley at the house you could drag the luggage in, but I wouldn’t recommend it to people over 80.
- Alexander (10/5): Stunning location and a cosy house - The house is cosy and warm, with an excellent view of the ocean. The house is well stocked with everything you could need. Access around the house might be difficult for the elderly but it was okay for me
- Karen (8/5): Pretty place with a lovely view - Cutely decorated and comfortable little house. Enjoyed sitting on the verandah with a lovely view to enjoy a coffee, regular kangaroo visitors. Conveniently close to the ferry. A very pleasant stay to enjoy Kangaroo Island. Some practical/ useable storage in bedrooms for clothes/ suitcase would be great- robe would not open, nothing in BR2.
- Linda (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed coming back after a day exploring. Dealing with Jess was effortless and she was very helpful - Quirky but comfortable and everything you needed provided
- Jessica (10/5): I highly recommend this property and would stay here again - I liked the beach shack homely feel with everything you need. Kangaroos in the back yard at dusk and dawn were a bonus. Jess our host was also exceptionally accomodating. I cannot fault this property
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Dianne (10/5): Exceptional - The house was lovely with everything we needed. The view was amazing. The walks around the township were great. We loved spotting the dolphins. Bit of a hill to walk up.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic hosts. Very passionate about their town. Lots of good information provided. Great location with a phenomenal view.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Superb - This place is very well maintained, clean with an excellent view of the ocean.
- Debbie (8/5): It was a great place to relax but also quite central to all we wished to look at. - A lovely homely feel. Great place to relax with great views and great position. Access a bit steep but manageable
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Great setup and well stocked. Had everything we needed to cook breakfasts and dinners. Really comfy place to stay and close to penneshaw shop, pub and cafes.
- Peter (10/5): Kangaroo Island is a must visit for wildlife and friendly locals. - Owner was easy to communicate with and very helpful getting us settled in, the house was very relaxing, clean and comfortable with lots of furnishings to make it feel homely. Liked that it was a little out of town making it very quiet and private and lovely views of the bay. Local cafes and pub were great for meals. Short trip from the ferry terminal. That we couldn't stay longer :-) It a long way from the western side of the island so need to plan your day well when visiting the Flinders Chase National Park but this didn't really bother us.
- Shane (10/5): Just a wonderful, easy place to stay. 10/10. - it was so homely and cute, it was equipped with everything needed for an excellent stay. It just felt wonderful! we walk like elephants and could hear each other getting up to wee in the night
- Ettridge (10/5): We loved our stay at Sheok Lodge it had everything. - The property was like home away from home with great facilities. It was modern, clean & had
an interesting decor. We appreciated the
electric recliners in the lounge & the washing machine
It was pleasant sitting on the balcony looking over the bay. There were lots of birds with bird feeders to encourage them. The driveway would be hard to negotiate without a 4 wheel drive. It was a bit steep carrying things inside but the upside of that is the lovely view.
- Pam (9/5): Comfortable with good views - Good kitchen and bathroom. Good views.
Spacious lounge/dining
Lots of kangaroos in the yard at sunset Rough driveway. Not the easiest access to the house from the car. No wardrobe or drawers for main bedroom.
- Julie (9/5): Perfect stay in Penneshaw - Very cosy, comfortable and well equipped. Gorgeous views of the sea and well placed for both sunrises and sunsets.
- Magdalene (5/5): Passable - Quiet
- Shuang (6/5): Pleasant -
- Robyn (8/5): Nice Place For A Getaway. - The view from this property is really nice & it was very quiet. We had some cute wildlife come for a visit. We agree with the other reviewers. The steep driveway would be very difficult for people with mobility issues, we struggled a little with bringing our belongings up the hill. This place needs a little bit of love it would then be amazing.
- Caitlin (10/5): perfect home away from home - homely and inviting with everything you need. beds were very comfortable the path to house is a little steep
- Rodney (8/5): Very good -
- Nancy (10/5): Exceptional - Jess (our host) was so responsive. The view from the deck was stunning. Also, at night we could see kangaroos in the area around the car port because there was a motion sensor light which turned on when anything hopped by. That was such a great surprise. This property is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. There is a steep gravelly path to get to the front door.
- Philip (10/5): Simply wonderful - fantastic atmosphere very comfortable great facilities and a wonderful view nothing
- Chris (9/5): Cosy, comfortable and tranquil home - Home away from home. Every need catered for and cosy home. Loved the water views from the front veranda and close to the Ferry so no rush when leaving. Kangaroos visiting the door every morning was great. The only problem was the steep driveway and the steep access to the door.
- Alan (8/5): excellent facility will definitely rebook in the future. - the property had every convenience required for a stay away from home .
the pantry was stocked with things you would not think to boring… small extra touches like folded towels on the bed made a wonderful difference.
very peaceful location.
my client felt at home immediately. could not locate the recycle bin
- Kirsty (9/5): thoroughly enjoyable - sea views steep driveway
- Sharon (9/5): Great amenities, great view - lack of storage - The house had everything and bed, chairs etc were very comfortable. The view from the deck was great - lovely place to have your morning coffee. Access to the door was a bit awkward if you have mobility issues. No storage or hanging space for clothes. The wardrobe in the 2nd bedroom was full of stuff so you couldnt use that. Only 1 over the door hanger. There was also no where to store suitcases etc. There was only 2 of us so was okay to use the 1 hanger. It would be a nightmare if there were more of you staying there. The fridge made a humming sound 24/7 - a bit annoying at night when everything else was quiet.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Shen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colleen (9/5): Great stay on KI. - Location was great. property had everything we needed. Loved the bird nesting boxes.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Exceptional -

- Buster (10/5): Great stay, very comfortable and perfect families. - Very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the property. nice and quiet but still close to Penneshaw. The rooms were very clean and nice to sleep in. Perfect families.
It had everything you could need to cook your own meals and all in a lovely aesthetic.
Wish we could have spent more time here.
- Tony (10/5): Great communication and only a 5 minute drive from the ferry. - Close to town, beautiful views over the sea. Nothing
