Guest Reviews
- Pomerantz (4/5): Some serious issues on professionalism regarding communication. - We stayed for 3 nights and unfortunately had a very poor experience overall.
The biggest issue was the smoke detectors. They went off repeatedly during normal cooking while simply boiling vegetables, and later activated again overnight around 1–3 am for no apparent reason. The alarms were mounted high on the ceiling and there was not a single proper chair in the cottage to safely reach them. The only available option was an extremely unstable and wobbly bench. After we specifically asked the host to come help us deal with the alarms, we were instead advised to unplug them ourselves despite them being hardwired and difficult to access. Expecting guests, including an almost 70 year old woman, to climb onto unsafe furniture in the middle of the night to deal with smoke alarms is unreasonable and a serious safety concern.
What disappointed us most was not just the issue itself, but the response. There was no apology offered during the situation despite the significant disruption to our stay and sleep. Only after we directly raised the issue later did we receive what felt like a performative apology through the booking platform rather than genuine concern or assistance when the problem was actually occurring.
There were several additional concerns as well. The property was quite cold. The listing advertised a fireplace, but only after arrival were we informed that using it required an additional payment for wood. That should be clearly disclosed in the listing beforehand. The mattress sagged heavily in the middle, the bench felt unsafe and unstable, the toilet seat was missing hardware, and the cooking oil provided smelled rancid.
We understand that occasional maintenance issues can happen in rentals. What matters is how hosts respond when problems arise. Unfortunately, the communication throughout this stay felt dismissive, defensive, and lacking basic customer care.
We would not stay here again.
- Makena (10/5): - Amazing views, the apartment amenities and utilities were very functional i.e. sockets, lighting fixtures locations, space utilization. The area has generally poor network connectivity prior to getting into the hnit and connecting to the wifi.

- Jessica (9/5): - It felt like home! We love the deck and the swing too! It was smaller than the photos made it look, but it was exactly what we needed so it didnt matter.
- Tina (1/5): -
- Deanna (10/5): -
- Patterson (10/5): - It was exactly what I was hoping for! A cozy winter cottage weekend getaway.
I was glad there were puzzles there! Great sized kitchen. I enjoy cooking, and many of the knives in the kitchen weren't very sharp. Could have used a sharpener, but I couldn't find one.
Also, the flooring in the bathroom caused me to trip a bit as a part of it is raised with a raw edge.
- DENISE (7/5): we had a nice time - the location was beautiful, lovely sunsets.... I did not like that the second bedroom was not attached to the cottage, it was a separate dwelling which was very odd
- Kendall (10/5): Stunning waterfront views - Great location, beautiful views.
- Angie (10/5): - The locale and the cottage were both perfect! There was nothing we didn't like.
- Jean Noel (8/5): - Très propre. Sofa très inconfortable dû à sa vétusté.
- Theresa (9/5): -
- Robert (5/5): Gross... Keep looking. - The location was really beautiful We re-named this house the "Booby Trap" house. The bathroom sink faucet was broken. The "Bunk House" smelled so bad we didn't sleet in there. There were no mattress pads on the beds- just old sheets on a saggy mattress. There were moldy coffee grounds in the coffee pot and a multitude of spider webs throughout the house.
- Traveller (10/5): - Very clean comfortable roomy house. Host was very communicative and helpful. Lake is small and host had a kayak tor use. Well equipped cabin. This was a wonderful oasis of rest.
- Monique (10/5): - Wonderful location. Cottage was clean and well maintained. Cottage had everything you would need and then some. Lovely personal touches. Very spacious and quiet on a beautiful lake. Sunrise and sunset were lovely to watch. Bedroom was missing a dresser or table to put suitcase on but we managed. A minor inconvenience
- Nick J (9/5): - Incredible, book it! It's an incredible setting, just a shame we only spent one night there Felt like we were pressured to check out early
- Catherine (9/5): Delightful, convenient to everything you might need for a wonderful stay on a quiet and beautiful lake. The sunsets wer - Everything. The deck overlooking the lake was heavenly. The only very, very small improvement I would make would be clothes hooks in the bedroom, bathroom and bunkie. Otherwise everything was perfect.
- Natasha (9/5): Superb -
- Lise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Beautiful location, right on the lake, comfortable beds Worth knowing that the second bedroom, with two beds in, is not attached to the house and toilet and you have to cross the deck to get to it
- Pam (7/5): Good -
- Dirk (5/5): Nice Location, poor condition... - Great Location We spent Christmas and New Year's Eve there. It's a great location and the cottage is really lovely. Unfortunately, it's a bit run down. In contrast to the photos, the outbuilding has practically no furniture apart from the beds and a rickety sideboard. The kitchen utensils were as if bought at a flea market, no three identical glasses or plates, everything was thrown together randomly. The water from the sink came back out into the shower. Later, the toilet overflowed, supposedly we had let the flush run, which is why the tank was full. That's nonsense, of course, as soon as the water runs, the pump starts up and you can hear it throughout the house. The photos show the problem, which has obviously been going on for a long time! At the beginning we asked the host for extra blankets, but the only answer we got was that there weren't any, as well as an extension cable to use the patio lighting. The cottage has a lot of potential but is in poor technical condition. Last but not least the roof was leaking. The host wasn't really helpful...
- Pam (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the patio and view of lake , wood stove $100.0 cleaning fee not mentioned until after booking .
- Richard (8/5): A quiet place to hideaway for a couple of days. - It was cozy, comfortable and peaceful there. It’s a minor thing but the uneven floors need to be navigated carefully to avoid stubbing o to or turning an ankle. We were mindful of it though so there were no mishaps.
- Abhinav (9/5): Superb -
- Charlotte (10/5): A cozy lakeside retreat with lots to offer! -
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - Location was great! Like the wood fire stove. Proximity to the lake - you’re right there!
- Cathy (6/5): Pleasant - Loves the lake and cottage setting. It was beautiful. The interior of the cottage was clean and very nice. Could use some more comfortable inside as well. Some comfortable seating on the deck to enjoy the view. The property itself could be better groomed, weeds were not trimmed and there were cobwebs with large spiders on the windows and around the building. We didn’t feel that the exterior was well cared for.
- Janelle (8/5): Very good - Spectacular sunset over the lake. Peaceful , surrounded by trees. We were there beginning autumn so leaves just turning to orange. Quirky layout. Bonus was washing machine and dryer.
- Courtney (7/5): Would love to come back as a party of two and enjoy the lake a little more. - The Main unit was nicely furnished, well-equipped and attractive. Accommodation was situated directly on a beautiful scenic lake with a nice dock and sitting area outside. Nice to have a key-code entry. Surrounding area was quiet and seemed safe. 15 minute drive to Wolfville. It was great to have a washer and drier on hand. The 2nd bedroom is not attached to the main unit and must be accessed by walking along the patio outside. On arrival all windows to this unit were closed and it smelled quite damp and stale. I had booked this accommodation having in mind that my Mother-in-law and aunt would stay in here, but that wasn't appropriate and instead we had them sleep in the main unit. So if you're thinking of doing the same, or using this room for small children, just be aware. The air in this unit improved after having the windows open for 24hrs, but not completely. The couch inside could also use with a quick cleaning. Also, I would 100% recommend that the host upgrade the hairdryer provided - it was so old and weak, it took me 10x longer to dry my hair.
- Gerald (8/5): Very good -
- Germain (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (10/5): It was our 2nd time here and we love it. Highly recommended, can’t wait to come back. - Well located. Quiet. Clean etc.
- Mary-ellen (10/5): lovely and enjoyable. thanks - location was so beautiful
porch swings and lights so nice added touches
cottage so clean and spacious
great recycling system
great beds and so soft sheets
shower and bathroom and laundry room was great
all and all so lovely and enjoyable just a small detail. the kitchen sink water flow was just a little stream and could not find sink stopper to do dishes.
- Dan (9/5): Very pleased with the site and support. - Location on the lake was exactly what I hoped for. Beds in the out-building had uncomfortable mattresses. Also, could not really wash the towels when leaving - out of washing detergent. Towels and washclothes were skimpy
- Moira (9/5): Relaxing place to stay and watch loons on the lake - Beautiful lakeside property with lovely comfortable deck to enjoy sunsets
- Anne (10/5): We enjoyed this Lovely stay and the beautiful lake sceneries - It’s very beautiful lake front property . Beds were cozy and house is spacious enough for a family . The host went extra mile to make our stay comfortable . He was very thoughtful and communicative . It would have been more visible if they install house number close to roadside .
- Alison (9/5): Wonderful beautiful location - Beautiful location on lake with bunkhouse and wonderful deck with swings!
- Hobbs (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (7/5): Good - Cleanliness..well stocked with essentials The 2nd bedroom was not in the main house

- Fugere (9/5): Superb -
- Jesslyn (8/5): Very good -
- Brenda (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful and beautiful. Zen - Host provided the door code the day of check-in and was very responsive to questions. The sunsets were stunning, the duck visitors in the early morning were lovely. There was absolutely nothing to dislike
- Lori (8/5): Very good -
- Jeff (8/5): Very nice property. - Pretty location. Very clean. Easy to access. Pull out couch shouldn't be considered a viable sleeping surface. Wifi didn't extend very far. No coffee pot (other than french press)
- Bernard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (9/5): Would definitely stay again - Great location and friendly host!
- Anonymous (10/5): Cozy spot on a beautiful lake, will definitely be back. -
