Guest Reviews
- Canberra (10/5): Value for your money - Loved everything! Especially Yuppy đŸ
- Meghan (9/5): A little piece of paradise - The housekeeper (Rosana) was outstanding. She was welcoming, helpful and had the studio cleaned to a high standard. I also liked the fact that the studio was in a great location, close to the beach and a small supermarket (a 20-minute walk away). The resident dogs (particularly Yuppy) and the cats were an added bonus and gave a homely feel to the holiday home. N/A
- Allan (9/5): - Private Beach front Dogs barking all night
- Rangi (10/5): I had the most amazing stay. It was paradise. Was disappointed Raewyn was out of the country as I so looked forward to m - The views, the accommodation, the location and directions were so simple. The dogs and cat were the icing on the cake for our animal loving family. That I had to leave and return home.
- Shania (10/5): -
- Hana (10/5): An amazing location. Would highly recommend - Loved the location. Our unit was super tidy and the host had really good communication and instructions in finding the accommodation as well as the keys for our unit. Rosanna was incredibly helpful when we needed something as well. Would highly recommend! The beds were a bit firm but we really did have the best stay at Vaiakura Holiday Homes!
- Simon (9/5): Fantastic house and location weâd happily come back again - Location and friendly host. For us weâd just need a bit more cooling. Possibly some a/c. But Iâm not sure thatâs even possible
- Jan (8/5): - The closeness of the beach and shops. The dogs barking although the night.
The bed was very uncomfortable. Pillows need replacing due to no support.
- Leah (10/5): - Traumhafte Lage!
Bequemes Bett. Gut ausgestattete KĂŒche. Gibt sogar separate HandtĂŒcher fĂŒr den Strand.
- Marie (10/5): Very friendly host love the beach - Closer to the beach The bedrooms too hot canât sleep in the night
Need more fans
One fan in one of the bedroom not working
- heath (9/5): -
- Alisa (9/5): Great for families, clean, tidy, on the beach and close to the best eateries & snorkeling spots! - Great location, close to lots of great places to eat, swim, snorkel and drink cocktails. Clean, tidy and great to be on the beach. Good for families with small kids, little swimming spot in the lagoon out front, kayaks, snorkels available etc. Would be awesome if the rocks were moved so the small swimming spot was bigger. If everyone moves some it will be awesome in a years time!
- Dorothea (10/5): Perfect 6 night stay - Raewyn has been such a good host during our stay. We felt so welcomed.
We loved the little studio we had and the close proximity to the beach. There are also some dinner and breakfast/lunch options around that are reachable within a short walking distance.
However for exploring the island we were happy to have a car to be more flexible.
On the premises there was drinking water available which was perfect. Everything was really good.
- Jack (10/5): -
- Jill (8/5): Fantastic. Would stay again - Location was great. Right on the beach.
Close to everything Nothing.,

- johanna (10/5): Raewyn's Relaxing P
iece of Heaven - Friendly, very informative and most helpful and kind host. Informed us of all the lovely activities on the island. Large, extremely clean home to fit a large family comfortably. Parking space available onsite. Lovely to have kayaks at your doorstep and lovely loungers on the sand in front of the home. Great deck upstairs and downstairs with plenty seating space overlooking the beautiful ocean. Barbecue was awesome to have. The ocean at your doorstep and hearing the waves at night, while falling asleep was so relaxing. There was mesh in front of windows and fans to keep you cool at night. Having dishwasher and a washing machine in the home was wonderful and also having 2 bathrooms for a large family was wonderful too. It was within walking distance on the beach to restaurants and a shop across the road to purchase groceries. There were larger shops nearby to purchase groceries and alcohol. That I couldn't stay longer.
- Hurley (9/5): Raewyn is a wonderful host and is very helpful. We are hoping to go back for another visit. -
- Amy (10/5): - Great spot. The host Raewyn was very friendly and accommodating. Good communication.
- Erica (10/5): Perfect spot in paradise - Great shower, 30 steps to the beach, comfortable outdoor spaces to relax, spotless clean, walking distance to restaurants and to the local shop to get daily essentials. Our unit was the Studio which was at the back of the building. Would have been nice to be at the front directly on the beach. Other than that it was wonderful. Be sure to bring water shoes as the beach can be rocky when the tide is out.
- Arti (9/5): - The location was very good
Home was just seconds walk to the beach
Great view
Host accommodating
Great deck
Very relaxing and friendly pet The doors of the house very hard to lock and unlock, specially the room upstairs
- Nancy (10/5): - My family of 8 had spent 9 days at this beautiful home, upon arrival, we were greeted by the beautiful host Raewyn, such a beautiful vibrant woman that makes you feel welcomed.
This home, feels like home, which is what we loved..it has everything you need to be comfortable, the home itself is beautiful. My family and I ain't fussy so we can't say if there were things we didn't like because we ain't fussed.
Due to the home being beach front my youngest child had swam every single day, and having the beach just metres away is a massive bonus..the view is spectacular, waking up to the sound of the ocean is something im truly going to miss.
My family have taken a strong liking to 1 of the dogs who resides here..Yuppy, we have all fallen in love with her, she's a very friendly, caring and protective dog and although we're still on the island but in another accommodation, EVERYTIME we drive by vaiakura homes, were all saying " Hi Yuppy!!!" thats how attached we got to her.
I love this home and so do my family, I can't recommend this home highly enough and will return here on my next visit. For me and my family..there was no complaints, theres nothing we didnt like.
- mandi (10/5): Raewyn and her team made the stay flawless and easy we had wa blast we will deff be back - Everything you could need was there the house was plenty for the seven of us we ate out and ate in so it was like we were at home . the kayaks and snorkelling gear available was great too use and the west side beauty with sunsets on show and beers and food on the deck covered for comfort and a washing machine to ease the weight of suitcases so more shopping was done loved every minute !!! There was nothing wrong with the property at all it was everything that was listed an more !!!
- Gavin (10/5): Amazing water front accommodation - Location was amazing. Weather. Ha
- Barr (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. Very clean and had everything we needed. Raewyn our host was awesome. . Loved the dogs and cats made us feel right at home.
Buses right at the gate plus a small shop over the road for necessary groceries. Beach was right at front of our house. Kids old and young enjoyed snorkeling , swimming and kayaking. Highly recommend this accommodation . Thanks Raewyn
, There honestly was nothing we didn't like. It was an unforgettable holida
- Leanne (10/5): Fallen in love with raro and will definitely be back again!! - Loved the location and the beach!!! Dogs barking at night were a little annoying but they are such lovely dogs đ
- E Dreyer (8/5): - Close to the beach, friendly staff.
- Emily (10/5): -
- Matewehe (10/5): - The location
- Julie (10/5): It was a great location with stunning sunsets. - It was locatives on the sunset side of the island so handy to town and getting around Nothing we loved it great location
- Sue (10/5): A great holiday had by us all. Mother and twin daughters in their 30's - We had a magical holiday. Wonderful host, all you needed in the accommodation, only a walk to some great restaurants. Right on the beach with kayaks, snorkeling and watching whales go by. We had a great time.
Thank you Raewyn you are a lovely host. Nothing! It had everything you needed and more. The position is priceless.
- keepa (10/5): - Raewyn was a fabulous host.the dogs make it so homely. Yuppy was my favourite, shell even go on a canoe ride with you .Beautiful spot on the island. Everything you need to relax & enjoy. Highly recommend Vaiakura. We will be returning asap. You won't want to leave this paradise.
- AMARU (10/5): - L'accueil l'emplacement La douche débit d'eau moyen!
- Kiri Savage (9/5): -
- Megan (9/5): Amazing location right on the beach and a 1 minute walk to the bus stop. Lovely hosts! - Great location right on the beach and so close to the bus stop. Raewyn and Rosana were lovely hosts. The upstairs guests were pretty noisy running up and down the room (young children, k think) and dragging chairs across the floors, but itâs probably luck of the draw.
- Canterbury (9/5): Recommend staying! Amazing location with the best view and your own beach at your doorstep - Host and staff were super helpful and friendly. Directions to the property were clear and simple. Location was epic - Beach was literally at our doorstep with the most beautiful view from our deck / balcony / kitchen! This literally made the trip so special in itself. Breakfast every morning literally on the beach. What more could you want right. Everything you needed for a beach stay and experience at your fingertips. We took a 3 year old with us and he had the time of his life exploring all the ocean treasures. Amazing sunsets, amazing walks to other beach swimming spots if you wanted to explore. Close beach walk to other restaurants like Shipwrecked and Beluga if you want a nice coffee. The Air BnB itself is nice / clean / tidy and looked after. There is also FREE WIFI too which they dont advertise! The property dogs ( Yuppie, Blockbuster & Hoppie ) are super friendly and will follow you down the beach and back again to make sure you get back safe! Its quite special. Its also really handy being close to town and also Wigmores too - To be honest the location & Accommodation really made our trip amazing. Felt like we had our own private beach! We will definitely be staying there again next year! Would be an amazing spot if you had a big group of friends / family going over together - Could hire out the two front Beach houses and the back units! Highly recommend :)
- Charlene (10/5): Stunning beach, great self contained accomdation - Stunning beach location, self contained apartments have a good set up. Host was lovely. We had a wonderful stay thank you!
- Melissa (8/5): Absolute beachfront ,spacious, great view - Beautiful location, beach front with a small area cleared of coral to swim. Lots of undercover seating available as well as sun loungers and a comfy hammock. Heaps of space for the 6 of us and cooking facilities to help keep the costs down. Raewyn was friendly and helpful, and her 3 dogs and cats were gorgeously friendly. Cleaners were friendly and helpful. There are restaurants, cafes and petrol stations nearby for food etc .We're really going to miss the beautiful sunsets and having morning coffee on the deck overlooking the lagoon and reef. We found the beds to be very hard which is not our preference but others may not mind. The curtains were very thin and some were hard to close, they let alot of light through, not ideal when there are a lot of neighboring lights shining in the windows. Also a couple of the mosquito nets on the windows wouldn't close properly, and 1 window was out of reach, so we couldn't close it, which did let mossys in. Something that did affect our stay but wasn't entirely in their control was the dogs barking at night. This wasn't just the owners' dogs, also a few neighboring ones..not fun when trying to sleep. The TV in our room didn't work. However, Raewyn did spend a while trying to fix it, which we appreciated. Apparently only 1 channel there anyway so we weren't missing much
- Gail (10/5): Excellent stay, we will be back again! - Fantastic location and Raewyn is a welcoming and helpful host. The units are clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Highly recommend Nothing
- Ashleigh (10/5): Exceptional - Location and friendly staff
- Natalie (10/5): Fabulous, highly recommended! - The location was perfect, the units were tidy and clean, the kitchen was great packed with everything you need. Plenty of fans and great decks.
- Scott (8/5): Really good - Tidy Nothing
- Jill (10/5): Fabulous for families of all ages - Amazing location fabulous for children.everything we needed and more.
- June (9/5): Very good - Location was excellent Dogs barking at night
- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Suzanne (9/5): Would definitely recommend - Location, well stocked and equipped. Wonderful staff, plenty of room and very clean One of our group who is a light sleeper had an issue with barking dogs but they were so sweet hard to say it was a complaint.
- John (10/5): A great stay at Kaiakura - My host Raewyn was lovely and very helpful. Travelling on my own I had a lovely self contained unit with a nice bedroom and also a kitchen and unsuite. The beach was 30 metres away for swimming and kayaking.
A great local bar The Shipwreck was a 5 minute walk away. A great location.
- Dsm (9/5): Wonderful family stay in an amazing location. Magical sunsets. - Amazing location right on the water. Beatiful sunset views from the deck of the beach house, great choices of water sports equipment to use (kayaks, goggles, reef shoes). It was a home away from home with a couple of friendly dogs and cats, lovely neighbourhood within walking distance of a couple of bars, convenience stores, wondeful cafe/food (Beluga). It was a short drive to the busier area of Muri (lagoon, markets, various restaurants) and the most beautiful snorkelling spots on the island (Aroa and Tikioki Marine reserves). There's some items in the house that could do with some updating. Though there was a dishwasher in the beach house, the door doesn't close and it probably hasn't worked in a while. There's also a bit of musty smell in the cupboards. Little things that do not take away from the experience of being in such a wonderful location, spacious and clean accomodation for 7 of us.
- Linda (8/5): Lovely beachfront holiday home - Studio was well equipped, great kitchen, plenty of towels, comfortable bed.
I chose the location as it was half way between 2 dive shops, & bus stop was directly out the front.
Lovely host Raewyn.
- Amy (10/5): Relaxing, enjoyable, fantastic - Location was perfect. Beach right out front so the kids played in there all day.
- Christana (9/5): Absolutely loved this place, Raewyn was a lovely host and our neighbours gave us fresh fish from their catch. Will defin - I loved the location and also being right in the beach it was so beautiful and accomodating for our group. There was no internet but that didnât matter it allowed myself and my kids to enjoy each others company and live in the moment.
- Mere (10/5): The weather was great so was able to enjoy the.holiday - Very convenient to the beach where we spent time overlooking the water kayaking and swimming The month we travelled as a lot of shops were closed although the Market was there
- Pamela (9/5): Superb - As I was on my own I stayed in the studio. It was well equipped having everything I needed. It had a good powerful shower and the bed was comfy.
The location was great the property was virtually on the beach. There is a small grocery shop more or less opposite selling the basics and a larger shop further up the road within walking distance. There are 2 restaurant s/bars nearby on the beach again within walking distance.
Raewyn who manages the property is very accommodating and helpful and will advise on attractions etc nearby.
Enjoyed my stay and recommend to other travellers. Everything was fine
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Moana (9/5): Superb - Lovely place. Good experience. Enjoyed morning walks along the beach. Swam on fine days when water was clear and calm. Enjoyed use of facilities eg, laundry room, water equipment, good drinking water. I had a little ground floor studio. Front porch lacked privacy. Kitchen cupboard had a musty odor. However, kitchen was well stocked.
- Alan (9/5): Superb - Friendly host, great location on the beach, very comfortable accomodation The weatherđ
- Mere (10/5): Will definitely consider returning to this property - Location was great Loved that we were right on the beach. Kayaks were a bonus to have and the property's dogs were amazing Was happy with the property as it was.
- Janice (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (10/5): Perfect management! -
- Zavir (9/5): Great for families with kids - Amazing host, right on beachfront, friendly pet dogs, perfect location with undercover parking, Raewyn, the owner is great
Will be going back No complaints, ceiling fans were not working but they had stand fans
- Kyra (9/5): Amazing stay, absolutely loved it and would highly recommend to other families. - Everything was perfect!
it was very clean, and I loved how she supplies all the beach gears to enjoy the swimming even more. And Raewyn was also very helpful and friendly. The only negative about the trip was when she lit a fire right next to our balcony and smoked us out for a couple days.
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional - It was a great house that has everything you could need and more. Amazing spot right on the beach. Great for kids and big families.
- Erica (10/5): Absolute Perfection !!! - OMG Location to die for ! Perfect for family traveling with children-they had SO much fun !!! Burning rubbish right next to the house.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - The location to the west side of the island and the beach
- Joanna (9/5): Picture perfect palm trees - Such a fantastic location right on the beach under the most picture perfect palm trees. We stayed in the studio which was only 10 steps to the beach. Plenty of Sun loungers for everyone there.
I watched and saw whales every single morning. It was fabulous. Great little spot for a swim just down the beach and a short walk along the beach to shipwreck inn.
We also loved the three dogs who are sooooo friendly. Theyâll share a sun lounger with you, escort you for drinks and swim with you! đ©”
The studio was basic but had everything we needed.
Raewyn was super helpful and Iâve no doubt we will be back to stay! The people stay on in the flat above dragging their chairs early in the morning.
- Lyn (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alanna (10/5): Relaxing and absolutely lovely - Raewyn our host was a lovely lady, the accommodation was very clean and tidy and it was a great setting right there with the beach a few steps away.

Thanks heaps
Raewyn
- Caroline (9/5): Perfect escape from the rat race of daily life!! You won't want to leave!!! - Easy check in. Our beautiful host Raewyn was full of local knowledge and history. Very accommodating and helpful. Raewyn has 3 dogs who are wonderful guard dogs and companions for us, especially our kids. The dogs would follow them around the property keeping an eye out for strangers and other dogs. Loved the location of Vaiakura!! We rented one of the beach front properties, so woke up to the beach every morning. We had kayaks and reef shoes to use, there's a hammack, a couple of swings, a washing machine, fans in the rooms, netting on the bedroom windows, hardly any mozzies (perhaps because we were right on the beach), use of the vacant plot next door for daily exercise. Full kitchen with milk and tea/coffee facilities and filtered water. Will definitely be back to stay with Raewyn. We didn't want to leave. Would recommend her homes to families wanting a good, private, comfortable stay in Raro. Ants.
- Erin (9/5): Beautiful location and perfect for families! - The host and her dogs/cats were all so wonderful! Made us feel at home. Loved the intimate nature of the property and how it wasnât a crowded resort. Beautiful beach out front and walking distance to a few restaurants. Iâd highly recommend for families.
- Blair (8/5): Very good -
- Sam (8/5): Really lovely host and great location. - Location was great, beach really nice. Walkable to shops and bars. Kitchen was good with lots of equipment to use. Small lounge area for family and beds not very comfortable. Quite dated decor but comfortable. Not much privacy on front deck from neighbours.
- Joanne (9/5): Quiet, beach frontage with beautiful sunsets. - Fantastic location with beach frontage. For us there was nothing we didnât like.
- Melody (10/5): Exceptional - Raewyn was a wonderful host, extremely helpful and friendly. Our unit was very clean and comfortable. The animals were super friendly too
- Herena (10/5): Excellent stay, warm & friendly host Raewyn & fantastic facilities on site beside the beach. Big thanks & D - Everything Didnât have a Seaview but it was close enough
- Sandy (8/5): We had two cottages, great for us, no bells or whistles, but all their. Raewyn great to deal with. - Right on the beach, great for kids. We were a group of 13, so eat in some meals, so plenty of equipment in kitchen Double Beds were very hard, singles were better, but guess that a personal preference
- Brenna (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay at Vaiakura Holiday Homes! Raewyn met us on arrival, so informative and friendly. She really went above and beyond to make our stay special. Location was amazing, absolutely beautiful spot. Fantastic snorkelling and swimming 2 mins walk down the beach. Loved having the use of kayaks to cruise around the lagoon in. House was spotless and had everything we needed. Loved our stay and will be back! Xx
- Tracey (9/5): Superb - Location, relaxed atmosphere, well kitted out place At times it was noisy from other patrons
- Ileeya (10/5): Exceptional - Raewyn was a awesome host. We stayed in 4bdrm home right on the beach beautiful view to wake up to every day and swim daily. The Dogs galahad, yappy and Theo are awesome guard dogs to take care of you and very friendly. I would recommend staying here for big group families its affordable and self catering bring your own grocery from nz.
- Jennifer (10/5): Highly recommend with awesome restaurants just a hop skip and a jump away, I would stay there again. - As it was a family home if we ate in we had everything we needed, the beautiful location or to just walk down or up the beach. It was clean and spacious and the 3 dogs 1 came on the canoe with us for a ride, the other a 3 legged dog could catch fish, it was so amusing, loved it and enjoyed our stay. That our fan in our upstairs room just wasn't fast enough to keep us cool at night.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location!! Walk out the door & your on the beach which is a quiet peaceful area. The dogs are friendly & looked after us & the property đ
Raewyn was very accommodating and took care of us while we stayed for 7 nights
- Amy (9/5): Cannot wait to come back here! We had an amazing time! - This is a very clean place - we were all so impressed with this and how big the place is.
Kitchen is fully stocked with all necessary utensils/kitchenware.
Some tea and coffee is provided - a nice surprise.
Great compendium - please take the time to read through it!
All three dogs are so cute and friendly - our favourite bonus for this place!
Beach is so close and the clearing is awesome to swim in.
Kayaks and all sorts of water gear provided, plenty of it.
Bar soap is provided in the bathrooms, if you prefer body wash, bring your own.
Bring your own shampoo and conditioner.
Bring your own laundry detergent for the washing machine.
Definitely pack insect repellent!
Raewyn and Rhett were amazing and helpful hosts, we cannot wait to come back here! Nothing major, did not expect the hosts to be able to rectify these things, just notes to point out from our experience:
Dogs barking at night randomly - normal in Raro so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
Noisy neighbours upstairs - the place was booked out to a family that were quite heavy footed and early morning risers.
No air con - only ceiling and portable fans, managed fine but some nights were very hot so made sleeping uncomfortable.
- Madhavi (10/5): Perfect holiday home for families!! - This is an absolutely amazing place to stay for families! Perfect location and awesome swimming beach. The unit was well equipped and beautiful sea views. We loved the dogs and cats who were super friendly and well behaved! Raewyn was lovely and super helpful! Excellent communication! Nothing!
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional - Raewyn and Rick are super nice and helpful. Really good hosts who leave you to yourself but are there on hand if needed. Fantastic location right by the beach and plenty of extra facilities also like kayaks and snorkels. These guys do not just operate to make money, they want to ensure their guests have the best holiday. Thank you!
- Emma (9/5): Great host and awesome snorkeling spots for beginners. - Awesome location, great host, and full sets of snorkeling gears. None
- Haromi (8/5): Beautiful whare and prime location on the beach, amazing and welcoming host âșïž - Location was absolutely beautiful, everything u need available The only downfall DUE to the hot hot weather in March is the ceiling fans were not helping and the kids were struggling to sleep đŽ thank u Raewyn for providing a fan wen requested really appreciated it đ€
- Roland (9/5): Very good - No breakfast I liked it all
- Minmin (8/5): Very good -

- Sheree77 (10/5): Fabulous Stay - The beach was very accessible. Loved all the facilities on offer. Was a really neat place to stay. Had everything we needed. We would highly recommend to anyone. All our family and a fab time in this 3 bedroom set up. We were given a late check out. We would definitely return. The bedroom fans were a bit slow. No air conditioning. Not a really bad thing as it all worked well, it was just super hot!
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brent (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Having your private beach was the best and having your own space without people staring in. We are looking forward to booking with you guys again đ. Also fell in love with the animals. Would rate this higher if we could.
- Margo (9/5): Superb - The privacy, the cleanliness, and location to the beach. Friendly animals. Very much the atmosphere of the island. Host Pearl was wonderful.
I would totally recommend this place.
- Connor (9/5): Superb -
- Caroline (8/5): Great views of the sunset - Open spaces and plenty of room to entertain. Loved spending our evenings out on the deck. Basic facilities which allowed for us to cook at home some nights. Loved sitting on the top balcony early mornings taking in the tranquility of this spot. Not a fault but Swimming and paddling was only accessible during high tide due to shallow reef but there are other places where you can swim and snorkel close by
- Allyson (9/5): Absoutely Delightful place. The photos do not do it justice. - Provided excellent travel directions as Rarotonga does not have house numbers.
Met on site by the Host Raewyn.
House was open and ready for our occupancy.
Clear instructions from Raewyn about how to take full advantage of the services provided on site such as filtered water, laundry, bar b q, etc.
We were there in the first 12days of Dec and the sun set right in front of us every day... spectacular.
There is a cleared section of the lagoon right in front of house so could swim there all the time.
Tons of beach toys. Loungers, Canoes, floaty rings, life jackets etc etc..
The beach is amazing . One day sitting on the deck we could see a few things moving in the lagoon.. we worked out they were turtles!...
The weather wasn't always perfect but temperature was great so with the big covered decks we could sit outside even when it rained :) So we mostly cooked and ate in , as the kitchen is extremely well spec'd and Raro does have great shops like Prime Foods for meat etc. plus we loved being able to Al Fresco dine with the seabreeze to keep us cool.
Great location as Kavera is not too far to the airport or Avarua
There is a wee shop across the road for short term provisions .
You can walk along the beach to the Ship Wreck Bar, for a drink and meal.
In the other direction you can walk along the beach to this fabulous hut for lebanese type food (no alcohol just great food).
Definitely keen to rebook and revisit.
ps: Gallahad, Yuppie & Overstayer the resident dogs are gorgeous. Cute to watch when they go fishing!. Had to think hard of a negative :)
So my only uuuurrgghh was the dogs barking occassionally at night.
however
I much much prefer the dogs to crowing Roosters (no Roosters here, yay )
and they did make me feel protected.
