Guest Reviews
- Helen (10/5): Perfect cottage for a short stay in the Hepburn/Daylesford area. - Very clean and cosy cottage with lovely linen and everything we needed in the kitchenette for a short stay. Particularly loved having an electric blanket 🥰. There is a heater for the lounge area and also for the bedroom if you need it . The cottage is in a great location with a super bush outlook. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly — our little dogs were welcomed too. Nothing.
- Shin-Yen (10/5): -
- Kimberley_Jade (9/5): Lovely cottage stay - Lovely little cottage. Had everything we needed and a wonderful view. Was a nice little escape.
- Kit (10/5): - Great! A beautiful surroundings welcoming hosts
- Sharon (10/5): Really welcoming and comfortable especially for its price point - This property is extremely well priced. It is not a high end boutique stay but It is very homely and comfortable. A great base for a couple. There are comfortable recliners in the lounge and the bed is very comfortable. The cabin was clean, quiet and private.
The kitchen has all the utensils etc you would want rather than the three spoons and dodgy tongues you often get.
The host met us and helped with our luggage. Kevin had put the air con on in advance (appreciated on a pretty hot day) There was nothing we didn’t like. The shower is over a spa and people with mobility issues may find it a little challenging.
- Bryan (8/5): Cosy accommodation with good facilities - Quiet location convenient to Daylesford
- Lisa (10/5): - Location to town centre is great. Lovely quiet private cottage with beautiful views of the forest.
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Jackson- Smith (9/5): -
- Yvette (9/5): lovely quiet location - Location suited our needs, and would have loved to stay longer.
Not far from town exiting the driveway onto the road, you need to keep your wits about you.
Bed and pillows were a bit too firm.
- Hoare (9/5): - Loved the King size bed and the fireplace. Very quaint cottage. The steps leading down to the cottage were a bit of a challenge for an old girl like me.
- Katherine (8/5): -
- Kendall (8/5): -
- Courtney (9/5): A cosy little getaway - The large spa bath was lovely and the little cottage was just what we needed for a little family getaway. N/a
- Graham (10/5): - Quite well presented Everything
- Lachie (10/5): Cozy, private cottage only a short drive to town. - Easy access to both Daylesford and Hepburn. A private space at the bottom of the owner’s yard - but with a completely private feeling thanks to the bush and outlook of the cottage. Parking space was appreciated, but please not there are some garden steps from the space to the cottage. Fireplace was a very welcome treat in cold June and the bath was fantastic. A wonderful space for a couple and their small dog.
- Georgina (10/5): Astley Cottage was the perfect, quaint cottage for our stay in Daylesford. We were very happy. - My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Astley Cottage. It was perfect for what we required for us to stay with our small puppy. The house was quaint in its interior and contained so much in its kitchen, family room, bedroom and bathroom. We were also able to easily use the wood fire heater, along with the split system heater. Everything was great! We would happily return to stay at this cottage again. N/A
- Stanley (10/5): Great cottage overlooking the forest, nice and quiet and very cozy - Kevin was a fantastic host, very helpful.

- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yaping (9/5): Superb -
- De (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect little cottage overlooking a beautiful bush gully. Lots of very personal touches in the cottage. Definately coming back.
- Francesca (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqui (10/5): An excellent place to stay, nice scenery and one of the safer places for a female travelling alone. - Astley Cottage is a lovely BnB situated between Daylesford and Hepburn, with a forest out the back and a nice deck. The hosts are lovely people and the place is very clean with a nice afternoon-tea on arrival.
- Barrett (9/5): Would like to come back one day. - Quiet location overlooking bushland. Nothing!
- Catherine (10/5): A beautiful place with thoughtful extras. - Comfortable and had everything I needed. Lovely view too! Nothing.
- Rebecca (5/5): Passable -

- Shikha (9/5): Superb - This was our second time staying at Astley Cottage. We chose this place for its location. Our furry baby enjoyed the walk in the forest which lies just below the cottage. It was a wonderful walk in the woods. The cottage is very neat and clean and all essential items are duly taken care off. The bed is very comfortable and the neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful. We were hoping to have a nice spa timebut somehow it did not operate this time. We were looking forward to it but anyways hopefully will be restored soon for other guests.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - It was a nice quiet little cottage that was perfect for our weekend getaway The bathroom could have been cleaned a bit better
- Gillian (9/5): Relaxing stay with great, convenient facilities. Peaceful stay - Convenient location and private. Friendly residents that run the property. Dog friendly
- Botian (10/5): Cozy vibes and friendly staff. I would highly recommend it. - It is clean and comfortable in a great location.

- Dianne (10/5): Awesome location and place do yourself a favor and stay here - Everything the cottage was amazing will be back to stay but for longer this time loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing
- Anne (9/5): Cosy little cottage in beautiful surroundings not too far out of town. - It was a very cosy little cottage very nicely furnished and comfortable. Everything I needed was supplied and there were extra blankets and plenty of heating options.
The bed was huge but a bit too big for the size of the bedroom. The large spa bath with shower over it was a bit awkward to get in and out off but great water pressure and plenty of towels.
The hosts were very nice and made me feel very welcome. Great base for seeing everything Daylesford had to offer. It’s not a complaint but wanted to mention the cottage would not suite anyone with mobility issues as it’s down a fairly steep walkway with uneven gravel steps.
- Julie (9/5): Relaxing, great ambiance, top town - Location was great. The beds were a little firm. Nothing wrong with that but we are used to softer mattresses.
- Annina (10/5): A blissful short break in Daylesford ! - The location was perfect as less than 5 min drive to both Daylesford and Hepburn Springs.. The cottage was cosy and it was lovely being surrounded by nature. Nothing comes to mind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Mohana (10/5): A perfect break. I’ll stay longer next time - Quaint and peaceful eclectically furnished The stairs could use better lighting which I know the host is working on
- Carmel (9/5): superb - The owners were very welcoming and made us gluten free cake for our supper. They showed us the cottage and answered our questions. :) nothing to complain about
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bronwyn (10/5): a gentle suggestion -the steps required to reach this property should be mentioned -
- Maurie (8/5): Great stay - The long steps to the property
- Tracy (7/5): Astley review. - Beautiful little cottage, very comfy and warm , nice views from the verandah and lounge windows , nicely styled , very peaceful. Spa bath was not real clean at all, pink mould on the jets, walk in shower much easier to get in and out of and a claw foot bath would be better , spa baths are full of other people's funk no matter how much you clean it yuk. If you're going to have a wood burner then supply wood or at least have bags of wood at the property to purchase that would be lovely.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): This is my second time at Astley cottage and will definitely be back again! Each stay has been excellent - Everything - peaceful view, well set out, very easy to feel comfortable and safe. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Quaint cottage only 3 minutes to Daylesford centre. Lovely hosts who made sure everything was perfect.
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (10/5): beautiful quaint cottage style stay, amongst natural landscape of trees and garden. Lovely personal touch to the cottage - A beautiful quaint cottage style stay, amongst natural landscape of trees and garden.
Would have loved to have stayed longer.
- Caitlin (10/5): Relaxed - Beautiful cottage in a beautiful bush location. Very close to all amenities. Hosts, Kevin and Ellie, are lovely people. Will definitely stay again and would recommend. Thanks

- Katrina (10/5): Easy to find comfortable and all the facilities and more very enjoyable for a quiet a few days - The hosts are very easy to adapt with any changes
Early arrival allowing to go in
Small goodies for the stay
Nice quiet and useful of all facilities Nothing at all
- Sorcha (8/5): A quite and Cosy stay just out of the town centre - Great location. 15min walk into the centre of Daylesford. Gorgeous outlook from our accomodation. Private, secure and very cosy. Not much
- Minh (9/5): Superb -
- Sheila (10/5): Would definitely stay again! - What a charming place! I was traveling with my 24 yo daughter and she wanted to move in! Shout out to the nicest hosts too - they even left a treat in the fridge for us! Bedroom was small, but workable.
- Rosemary (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (7/5): Good - I’ve been there lots of times and I really enjoyed the staying at mount beauty No comment
- Carolyn (10/5): Highly recommend. - Gorgeous cottage set back from the main house and the road, offering privacy and fabulous views. Very comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean with welcoming hosts and every amenity available. Would highly recommend. Can't think of anything
- Samantha (8/5): Nice place to disconnect and enjoyed being immersed in nature! - Location was nice, sweet cottage, friendly hosts, good place to relax, enjoy nature, not far from the main parts of both Daylesford and Hepburn While the place is pet friendly, be prepared to get up with your dog to let them out for toilet breaks in the woods, can not leave them alone indoors, and if they are left on the terrace, they can not bark (mine gets initial separation anxiety so couldn't risk leaving him!)
- Dennis (9/5): Would I recommend or stay there again. ABSOLUTELY - Great hosts Ellie and Kevin who were always willing to help. A very quiet, very comfortable, small cottage located with great relaxing views of the bush. No traffice noise. Well equipped and there was nothing I needed that it didn’t have.
Undercover parking
Very comfortable bed and lounge chairs
Has a workable fire place but I didn’t use. Other electric heating available
It even has a Bluetooth sound bar (I had forgotten to bring mine) to enable playing one’s music. Several CDs available as well
Heaps of books for book worms
Expressing coffee machine well stocked coffee pods
An easy 20-30 minute walk into town
Has a Webber barbecue and microwave but no other cooking facilities. I was there 6 nights and would have eaten out every night anyway so for me, no concern The property is located 15-20 metres down a metal stepped path. Easy walking but carrying heavy bags for some might be an issue.
BUT.
Kevin offered to help and has a trolley one can borrow
- Ilaria (7/5): Overall nice location, but a bit expensive for not being in peak season - Good location
Nice and cosy Cottage Expensive for not being in peak season
- Leo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brett (9/5): A beautifully peaceful stay in a lovely cottage well tucked away - The serenity
The facilities
The tree view
The spa ! It was all fine, nothing
- Joan (5/5): Bit disappointed - The property was clean and comfortable The access to the cottage is terrible, I’m not a mountain goat
- Miranda (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful little cottage, nestled in the trees. Quiet location set back from the road and the owners house. Comfortable beds, everything was neat, tidy and clean with lots of country charm. Would be happy to stay again. Slightly difficult to back car out but having our own carport was nice. There are Gravel steps down to the cottage which we managed fine but could be difficult for people with mobility issues.
- Amy (10/5): So Relaxing and Great Location! - Loved the location very central, the spa bath was a nice treat and we loved sitting on the deck looking out over the nature reserve - very private and serene. The owners were so nice as well and even brought us down some home cooking, would definitely stay again.
- Sally_c_ (10/5): Astley Cottage - gorgeous for a weekend away - The cottage is perfect for a couples retreat. It is quiet, you feel secluded, the view is outstanding and the cottage is really comfortable. Bed was super comfy - sleep really well!! Air-conditioning available and a lovely fire for cooler nights.
5 mins drive, 20 mins walk along the creek into town.
Lovely piece of homemade cake on arrival. Nothing.
- Stuart (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (8/5): Astley cottage - Quiet and peaceful and thought of everything you need. The bush is pretty much at your door step. Very relaxing and plenty of wild lfe around The bed. Its to hard and 1 side had a huge dip in it. Uncomfortable. And lots of deep decent stairs to the cottage. No good for elderly or wheelchairs
- Bernadette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (7/5): Good -
- Jacqui (10/5): A lovely, clesn bnb with nice hosts. - A fantastic retreat to compose music. Clean and comfy and safe for one single traveller because hosts not far.
- Timmy (10/5): Splendidly cosy get away! - Astley cottage is the cutest and perfectly located cottage retreat, nestled amongst a breathtakingingly beautiful cottage garden with Daylesfords majestic bushland within arms reach, wrapping around the property like a calming hug.
The cottage has everything you could possibly need to block out the world and melt into relaxation.
Comfortable, clean and cosy with an exceptionally luxurious spa bath.
Ellie & Kevin made my partner, our fur baby and myself feel right at home and welcome. The fresh homemade muffins were a welcome surprise.
Highly recommend this property for a weekend get away.
- Charity (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shea (9/5): Superb - Cosy, well furnished and home feel, quiet and away from traffic noise. Very nice hosts
- Loretta (8/5): Quaint cottage with everything you need. - Lovely little cottage, very quiet, surrounded by bush land. Lovely homemade slice and cake was much appreciated. A bit of a steep walk down to the cottage. Would not be very if it was raining.
- Gelu (10/5): Wonderful stay . Highly recommended place to stay close to the baths. - We were awed by the thoughtfulness in equipping the beautiful cottage for comfort. The beds had electric blankets lots of other means to warm up in that pristine cottage. Other things worthy of notice were sweet threats, including a home backed piece of cake, coffee machine ready to use and crockery plenty, loads of teas, style, comfort, the bed king size very comfy. Host is very obliging. Well this cannot be helped but there were some steps down to the cottage due to inclination of the land and we had to take our time down. But that was not a damper on our stay.
- Sinclair (10/5): Amazing value for money! - Great location, undercover car park, very comfortable bed, lovely spa bath, spacious clean and secluded. We are looking forward to returning.
- Phillip (7/5): Good -
- Aura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (9/5): Quaint cottage with great location and pretty outlook. - The Astleys were lovely. The cottage was quaint, clean and the position was excellent, close to Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. The kitchen was a little limiting but we managed to still feed ourselves.
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Jenny (9/5): Superb - Everthing was well catered for The shower over the spa bath
- Pina (10/5): It was comfy, cosy and warm. - Our cottage was sweet and quaint. It had everything we needed and a nice view from our windows. It has everything we could need. A cosy place.
- Raewyn (4/5): First time ever not happy with Accommodation. - Cottage was clean and pretty. Having to pay extra for our dog before owner gave us the keys even though it was a pet friendly accommodation. I queried this and he said Booking .com hadn't let him know our dog was coming. I told him that I specifically mentioned our dog in the original booking. His answer was that Booking.com take $25 per night for each of his bookings through them and they are in the Netherlands! So what, he must have agreed to this?
Firewood was an extra expense after 1st bundle was used. Bundle lasted 1 night.
Cooking facilities hopeless.
Owner told negative stories about other guests who had stayed previously. Very unprofessional.
Wouldn't recommend or go back there.
I wasn't going to write a negative report but I keep on getting a review page popping up and I'm still fuming over this.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (10/5): Cute cosy cottage - Cosy little cottage. Very comfortable. Friendly hosts. No traffic noises. Couch is in an odd position to watch TV, but we weren't there to watch TV anyway. One of the photos shows a sunset but you can't actually see it from the cottage.
- Sadia (9/5): Superb -
- Llewellyn (9/5): Superb - Cute and quaint cottage
- Linda (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Smith (8/5): Lovely getaway - Didn't have the breakfast. Location was lovely and peaceful Miss communication between the hosts and booking.com. booking.com didnt mention to the hosts we were bringing dogs even though i booked for 2 dogs. So ended up Having to pay for them on top of the price of the stay. But would stay again.
- Graeme (8/5): Lovely, homely place to stay in a great location. - Location, the fire on a cold wet weekend, Walking in the surrounding bush, Spa bath.
- Katrina (10/5): An atmosphere full of love - Where it was very secluded
The property had it all that you needed from inside with kitchen, lounge area bathroon/spa and sleeping area .outside had a beautiful setting and even a shirt walk to different walking tracks to go in a beautiful nature area.
The walking into Daylesford was nice and easy. The owners were very helpful and supportive with assistance of wanting to go. Though they left little goodies for the time I was thete and left a nice message when I was going it . Loved it definitely will go back and spread the word , price was good too. Nothing
- Joedy (10/5): Exceptional - Warm fire
Extremely clean
Amazing bed
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Wright (7/5): Good -
- Mireille (9/5): excellent - the hosts baked delicious cake for us to enjoy upon arrival. comfortable beds and availability of an extra blanket. heaters were working well would have had to purchase more wood after the handful provided was burnt. we considered the price for another handful too expensive, so did not bother.
