Guest Reviews
- Jodie (10/5): - House was clean, beds were comfy Nothing bad
- Mary-Ann (5/5): Apollo Bay is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed this delightful town, with an epic bakery and other fabulous eateries - Great location, an easy 1.5km walk into town. Ocean views in the distance. Quiet street. Compared to basic motels we have stayed in, the service was very average. No welcome/complimentary teabags, sugar, coffee sachets and small carton of milk for a long awaited hot drink on arrival, after a long day of travel. No spreads for breakfast toast the following morning. No complimentary shampoo and conditioner or bath/shower soap. No Hairdrier. No linen provided. Had to hire linen at $40 for 2 nights plus GST for my husband and I, through a convoluted series of emails via a third party company. This fee was in addition to the cost of renting this property. ALL of the above items were included at every other motel/hotel or house we stayed in along the GOR. We even had to make our own bed with this hired linen on arrival, unless we were prepared to pay an additional $15 to have this done for us. Outrageous! At a basic 3 star motel in Geelong, we received better service and value for money. And for another comparison, we have just arrived in our accommodation in Port Fairy this afternoon to find the bar fridge in our “hotel room” contains welcome chocolates, orange juice, tea, coffee, milk, muesli for breakfast, and the heater and lights turned on for us. What a contrast!
- Henry (10/5): Great week at the beach, felt like we’d stepped into a family friends holiday home, has everything needed. Kitchen is a - Location and value for money are exceptional.
- Jenny (8/5): -
- Nancy (9/5): Beautiful location, nice place and comfortable - Cozy , clean and well occupied. Also amazing location That we have to bring our own Linen
- Leisa (10/5): Fabulous - Walking distance to town centre
- Susan (8/5): -
- Sapan Tiwari (10/5): -
- Pauline (7/5): - Well stocked home for the traveller staying a few days Had to bring own linen and could not find the charger for the vacuum. Not such a great option for 2 nights. Probably more suited for a week long stay as cleaning b4 leaving after only 2 days is no diff than after a week
- Angeline (8/5): Good space for family getaway, quite area with comfortable bedding - Location was nice, comfortable beds.
Kitchen small but had all we needed. Paying for linen package and all beds not being made up.
Lack of good heating downstairs
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pam (8/5): Had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay - It was nice that it had two living areas. Good for our group. Older kids downstairs and parents upstairs Could have used better bbq cleaning tools
- Alekar (4/5): Disappointing - Extremely Disappointed – Poor Experience
The entire experience was far from smooth. This property is managed by an agency, and booking involves tedious form-filling – very different from the usual Airbnb experience. Standard Airbnb practices are not followed here at all:
You are expected to bring your own linens — something that is not common in the Airbnb industry. Photos misleadingly show beds fully made up, and only a small note mentions that linens are available for hire.
You are required to hand wash all your dishes before leaving because the dishwasher must be left empty, adding extra stress at checkout.
The floorboards are extremely noisy — even normal walking or quiet chatting upstairs disturbs people trying to sleep downstairs.
Worst of all, the agency failed to send the key collection email, and we had to chase them ourselves to get the information.
Would definitely not recommend. Overall, very disappointing and stressful.
- Helen (8/5): disappointed with the linen situation as we where fly in travellers who didn't carry linen with us. - The kitchen had all we needed, limited tea, coffee and condiments supplied or left by other travellers.
comfortable up stairs lounge. The house was clean. Good portion back from the main road. The beds where comfortable but there was no linen and the real estate agent was to organise the linen package and they did not supply the linen package and we had to drive around to find linen to have for our stay. The rooms didn't have enough blankets for 6 people, there was heating in the rooms.
- Karen (9/5): Amazing holiday at The Great Ocean Road - We loved the place, the location and the layout. Perfectly kitted out even with a coffee machine. We absolutely loved the sea view.
Only concern is that the washing machine drum sounds loose & the dryer didn't really dry any clothes.
Still very highly recommended and will be back!!
- Farshad (9/5): Superb -
- Jaspreet (10/5): Exceptional - Kids love it and close to the beach and other amenities .
- Kolic (8/5): Very good -
- Malcolm (8/5): Great location - short walk to the beach - in the more quiet residential area of Apollo Bay -
- Isles (8/5): Beach Retreat was a quiet, cozy house to stay and enjoy the beautiful town of Apollo Bay. - We really liked the location to the town of Apollo Bay and the ocean.
The size of the house was great and we loved the decor. It was bright and airy. We didn’t like that the linen was not provided without an additional cost added to our stay.
- Chavi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Girlie (10/5): Good. - Not. Applicable. For Us. Parking space is too small.
- Margaret (8/5): Overall good for group stay - Yes, especially the BBQ pit If can provide linen and toiletries will be good
- Mark (9/5): Lovely house, great location, good price considering summer schools holidays, great Commnication - water pressure in shower was excellent. Internet was slow. Kids purchased a movie to play on YouTube and it would not load. wasted $5
Could not get the Bluetooth speaker to connect to play music
First world problems
- Naomi (9/5): Superb -
- Yvonne (8/5): Good home base for day trips to Otway National park and surrounds. - Kitchen was well equipped, the 2 bedrooms we used were spacious and comfortable. Walking distance to the beach. Handy home base. Would be better with bedroom ceiling fans. Also screen doors down stairs, this is where we seem to sit each afternoon the breeze was beautiful, but flies were annoying.
- Thi (8/5): Very good -
- Kunal (1/5): Not worth it! - No towel ,no bath mats, not even dishwashing liquid or Dishwashing tablets, no surface cleaning agents provided. This property can be housed by 7 people but there weren't enough toiletries supplied. We had this house for 2 nights, on the 2nd day we requested to supply the stuff, no body cared to even respond. On top of that the dishwasher was leaking water.. Pathetic service! We bought our own items to clean.
If you have a choice don't go here.
