Guest Reviews
- Dimity (9/5): We had a great time poking around Castlemaine and coming home to The Dairy at the end of the day made it all the more sp - Divine wee house with the worlds most comfortable bed. We loved our stay. Wifi was glitchy at times and we found the lounge/couch whilst beautiful; a bit small for us. We like to properly spread out on a couch. But that’s just our preference.
- Wendy (10/5): Comfortable and cosy. Great location. - Loved the fireplace!
- Kaylene (8/5): -
- Seamus (9/5): A peaceful, relaxing, fancy retreat for three nights with lovely hosts in a great town. - Quaint, attractive, comfortable, cozy. Not a lot.
- Catherine (9/5): A beautiful, quiet cottage in a convenient location with a very comfy bed and beautifully appointed - Great location close to town but quiet . Lovely host who was very friendly when I met him. Very comfy bed and beautiful linen . Private and peaceful Lounge is a bit too small and not very comfortable . There is room for a bigger one possibly with an ottoman / return. It's not great for watching tv or sitting for long.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Ellen (7/5): Good - the cow skin on the floor
Loin
- Heidi (9/5): Unique with charm - This accomodation has a bunch of charm and character. I booked this property as I was an Anne of green gables fan growing up and it was a lovely dreamy place to rest our heads for a few nights. Location is fantastic so close to town.

- Mel (9/5): Delicious ! - Massive bed (albeit a little soft for me ) afternoon sun in the bathroom , with the door open , enjoying the bath .tastefully decorated to enhance the history of the place .
- Becky (8/5): Really gorgeous, peaceful stay with a lovely sense of history. - Absolutely spotless, immaculate presentation and cleanliness.
great amount of space and really close to all the things we wanted to see in Castlemaine.
Really easy to find and access. The bed seems to be two smaller mattresses fitted together which was a little uncomfortable in the middle.
- Adrienne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Perfect property for a couple for a short stay in Castlemaine - This property was perfect for a couple. It was centrally located, easy walk to the main street of Castlemaine. The bedroom, bathroom and living area was spacious and clean. With the fireplace in the living area it was a perfect couples retreat for a few days. nothing it was all good
- Judith (2/5): Extremely disappointing stay. - The proximity to the town centre was good. This place is far too rustic to be described as charming. There were cockroaches in the bedroom, the floor was wet in the living area with water leaking from the window frame. The bathroom looks great in the photos however it is very cold with no heating other than an overhead heatlamp with one lamp not functioning. There were only two bath towels provided that had to be used over two days with no way of drying them in between times. The shower is very compact, and the pedestal basin was just plain grotty. The power points were plentiful but not in a useful position. Other reviews comment on the great bed, yes the mattress is comfortable, but there is no electric blanket and the pillows are dreadful. The A/C in the bedroom was old and ridiculously loud. The owner avoided any contact with us. The kitchen was very basic. The whole place was gloomy and dark and needed lights on at all times. Could not be more disappointed given the glowing reviews on this and other sites. I can't believe they're talking about the same place. Very poor value for money.
