Guest Reviews
- Cameron (6/5): Reasonable quality accom. Should be about $400 per night cheaper. - The features of the old property were beautiful. The property was easy to access. At $900 per night the property could have done with some deodorizer being sprayed before we stayed. There were multiple dead bugs on the floor. One of the tap handles was broken and one of the fly screens was broken.
- Nicole (7/5): We had a really nice weekend at the Station Master's House and would definitely recommend it. - The house was a great size for 5 guests, it had very comfortable beds and was conveniently located within easy walking distance of the train station and attractions in town. Outside patio was a lovely place for lunch on a sunny afternoon. Kitchen was reasonably well appointed but lacked some amenities (e.g basic cooking items like oil, and a corkscrew). We had some trouble with the hot water on the second day but were able to troubleshoot that ourselves.
- Leonie (10/5): Girls stay home! - Living areas were great for us to gather and enough bedrooms for a group. Space was cozy and warm All good.
- George (9/5): Superb - Air-conditioning a little too loud.
- Hannah (4/5): Tired and unloved property - Location was good. Disappointing. It's very tired, you can tell the owners just use this as a revenue stream rather than a home to be cared for - lots of dents and chips in paint, furniture had a layer of dust, cheap Kmart art and furniture which needs updating - very sparsely decorated and feels empty and cheap where it has been. The bathrooms have had a "landlord special" renovation - cheaply done and the main bathroom shower (over bath) is really dangerous and a hazard. We all ended up using the ensuite in another room. You'd expect in a "boutique" (which this isn't) local made hand wash and shampoo, local artisanal basics but there wasn't it was cheap hotel chain shampoo/conditioner which is a huge missed opportunity for a Castlemaine property. Outside hasn't been well maintained with spider webs and cracking paint etc, as I said... it's very tired. Which is a shame as this house has MASSIVE potential as it's a beautiful old historic home. It's such a shame the owners clearly don't care about it that much and want to do things cheaply to make bang for buck. If I were to visit again, I'd stay somewhere else and would recommend family and friends to as well. Theres so many other beautiful historic homes in the area to choose from. Also, doorbell didnt work either fyi.
- Debbie (10/5): Amazing stay & certainly will be back. Hosts were fantastic. - Roomy, very cozy & warm. Was like being at home. There was nothing I didn’t like
- P (8/5): Very good -
- Belinda (7/5): Good - It was a cozy and comfortable stay which we really enjoyed We didnt realize it was on the main road and next to railway line so was noisy at night/morning. Having said that, we did still enjoy ourselves.
- Davies (8/5): Cozy house with most comfortable beds, great facilities and walking distance to the main street. - It was cozy and the beds were so comfortable like a hotel. Great house for a group. Really nice products in the shower. We loved it! Was a slight delay getting into the house because the code lock wasn't working on arrival. A few more handy basics and some good ground coffee and plunger in the kitchen would have made it even better.
- Colin (9/5): Superb - Almost everything Small fridge, only 1 television
- Erin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keryn (7/5): Good - Beautiful clean house with all the comforts. Position great, close to main street. Very noisy with constant trucks from 4:30am. No hot water on last day.
- Diane (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable beds Small lounge/dining area
Lack of basics like cleaning cloths
- Chathu (6/5): not very pleasant - Location , enough beds , comfortable very smelly bathrooms, no locks , shower is Old
- Ash (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gaelnewton (8/5): Very good -
- Kendrea (10/5): Great, look forward to staying again! - Great place to stay very comfortable, highly recommended xx
