Guest Reviews
- Anne-Maree (7/5): It was a quirky place, not modern at all but comfortable. - Communication with the host was good. The heating worked well and the main bed was very comfortable. The kitchen tap needed repairing but the owner was happy to have that feedback and will fix it. The shower over the bath was a little awkward to use but the water was nice and hot and had good pressure.

- Brendan (10/5): - Place had a strong feeling of nostalgia for me - I think I slept for 12 hours on the first night.
- Nina (10/5): -
- robert (7/5): Good location in a quiet street with a super comfy bed π - Good location, quiet street but close to the shops and train station, super comfy bed. The house is getting a little tired and needs a little love put into it.
- Shabnam (9/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): -
- justyn (6/5): Average - It is conveniently located Itβs old and tired, and the are far, far to many signs telling what you can do.
- Kingston (6/5): -
- Bella (7/5): Overall this was such a pleasant stay with so many thoughtful little additions. Very functional little house. Absolutely - Loved the kitchen and all the heritage style items throughout the house. The bed/mattress was very uncomfortable.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (6/5): Pleasant -
- Shianne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional - A great place to stay in Springwood that gives a cozy mountains experience. Interesting house with lots of curios to look at. The kids love the house.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karina (8/5): Very good -
- Wayne (5/5): Passable - Toilet and shower access
- Sagun (9/5): Superb -
- Colin (7/5): Certainly "unique"... - Quiet and the bed was comfortable enough. Soft mattress (I prefer a firmer mattress tbh) but certainly not uncomfortable. Definitely a unique dwelling... Some aspects of its quirkiness appealed... I was here visiting family, so I didn't really use it as a living space. Didn't use the kitchen or the laundry. Wifi good. The word "historic" in the title gave me the impression (or set the expectation I guess) of a lovingly restored old style house. That's not what we have here. The house is just old and a bit musty and could do with a refresh. Peeling paint and rotting eaves on the exterior. It is a handyman-built construction that is very oddly arranged, and has clearly changed shape throughout its long life (blocked-off doorways and other unusual arrangements). It appears to have originally been a small, one bedroom house with a colonial style balcony that has since been enclosed and added to. Wooden flooring, painted gyprock walls and ceilings with wooden beading joints. A jumble of mismatched furniture and appliances on the inside. Very "rustic" - a little more than I expected! A bit dark on the inside and airflow wasn't great. Plenty of fans (and a dehumidifier!) provided, but no aircon. Kitchen has no windows and smells a bit of dirty extractor fan filters. None of this is a disaster - I'm not saying "stay away"! I found some of its quirkiness appealing - but it is a very unusual and old-world experience! Be prepared. There are printed laminated instruction notes absolutely everywhere inside... A little too many I think. π Having them in a reference booklet rather than stuck to walls and furniture would give less of an impression of being monitored and disciplined at every turn, and would (for me) make the space feel more inviting.
It is definitely not friendly to people of limited mobility (bathroom and toilet both down 3 steps from the main floor level). Front path mossy and slippery when wet...
It's also not entirely easy to access - not super convenient to Springwood/Winmalee despite its map location: rather isolated street that can only be accessed off the highway while heading east (towards Penrith)..
I've given it 7/10, but I would not stay here again. I prefer a few more creature comforts at my age!
- Jones (8/5): Very good - The location was great, and very close to an amazing bush walk.
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet location.
Comfortable bed.
Great shower
Quirky layout and loads of character.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional - It was a unique, quirky property, with a lovely sense of nostalgia. My children loved all the little interesting details too.
- Sagun (7/5): Good -
- Breanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillip (4/5): Disappointing - Springwood town close and hospitable.
location very good for our required commute to Penrith.
we liked the garden and grounds and quiet street.
Thanks for the house and local information notes on display. Photos on line did not show the reality of bathroom or toilet and stairways to them.
Some kitchen utensils needed cleaning before we wanted to use them.
Parts of site were dusty. There were a few beautiful pieces of furniture which needed some TLC and too much bric a bac on display.
- Katie (8/5): Very good - Quirky and comfortable.
Close to Springwood.
The street was magical with all the crepe Myrtle trees flowering. So pretty.
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Sam (4/5): Disappointing - Basically it wasn't clean. The description was inaccurate; there were no mountain views, the so-called second bedroom was an alcove containing a very uncomfortable sofa bed, the only parking was street parking. The front and back flysceen doors are in need of repair.
- Ben (7/5): Easy access great, location, great having a kitchen there to save money on eating out. - Location and facilities The main bed was great but the other beds were just average
- Debra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norashikin (7/5): Good - Very old skool & nice. Check in was easy. Not much space to put things at the kitchen counter. The taps in the bathroom are a bit weird. The hot & cold taps are separated & far apart. So it's either u use hot water or cold water. Cannot mix both to get the ideal temperature.
- Lindy (10/5): Enjoy our stay everything was catered for - The house was quirky and very comfortable loved the view from the balcony plenty of room and well equipped. Found the information in the house very useful also loved the old books. Nothing totally enjoyed our stay
- Broyce (10/5): Exceptional - We fell in love with the place , its very comfortable and clean . We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely be back .
- Oliver (8/5): Interesting property located in the mountains - Nice location, interesting property
- Manh (8/5): if you like st traditional that is the one - traditional nil
- Karina (1/5): DO NOT BOOK! It's a run down house with mold, dust and bed bugs! - I was very disappointed with this house, I expected a cute cottage instead got a run down house with mold, dust and bed bugs!
When we arrived I begun setting up the "beds" and had an asthma attack because of the dust. My friend stayed in the "second bedroom" with the pull out sofa. This was more like a closet with no room for belongings or personal items. The next morning she woke up with bites all over her body.
I stayed in the living room and didn't trust the bedding they provided after my asthma attack so luckily had a sleeping bag and did not get attacked by bugs.
We promptly left and did not return. Finding alternative accommodation instead. This house is a safety hazard and I expect a full refund.
- Danielj1970 (6/5): Needed maintenance - Quiet street. Appropriate facilities. Like staying at a friends place. Overgrown garden, spiders, bugs in the kitchen, leftover food from previous guests. Bedding left on floor, not folded. Vacuum cleaner was so full it did not work.
- Anya (9/5): Superb - It's an absolutely beautiful house, it was really nice being able to stay at a place that retained so much of its history.
- Mick (9/5): Great place and has become my first choice to book when in the area - Location was great for my needs. The property was in its original style and and suitable decore for the era. Beds were comfy and lot of little extras. Will definitely book again as first choice when travelling back to the area. If I had to pick something it was the parking but only temporarily as one it seemed one of the neighbours had people over - didn't hear the neighbours and there was plenty of parking further up the street
- Fiona (9/5): It was cold and wet when we stayed, but we loved hanging out together in the cozy lounge. - Loved the character! It was full of fun objects and old books and nooks to curl up and read or chat. It felt like staying in a story book. The bathroom steps took a minute to get used to, but the shower was hot and had great water pressure.
- Isons (7/5): A quaint but clean and well appointed cottage. - Location was perfect for our requirements visiting family,
Cottage was very well appointed and clean.
Street parking available outside the cottage Generally the gardens were overgrown and unkept.
Not able to use the rear garden which was overgrown with a pile of cut vegetation which hadn't been removed.
- Chris (7/5): Good -
- Lesley (5/5): linen had not been changed, contacted the owner and code for linen was given - central for needs, kitchen well equiped. the late check in on the first day 4 pm and as the place had not been cleaned and linen changed it was very late to organise it done after contact with owner. Also a little to quirky for my requirements
- Mark (7/5): Good -
