Guest Reviews
- Michelle (1/5): - Nothing ,maybe the sheep . The place was disgusting and dirty .
A mouse in the kitchen ,rubbish in the kitchen ,dirty towels on the floors and dust and spider webs everywhere.
The owner left a message to clean the place at 4.40pm after check in was 2pm .
We left ,I wouldn't keep my dog in there ,let alone my children.
Disgraceful.
- Jessica (10/5): Excellent.. - Everything you could need and more, just show up with food and clothes!!! The door was a bit hard to close!
- Jazmyn (10/5): -
- tiana (1/5): The place is just a mess and dirty. -
- Tracey (6/5): - My kids had lot of fun Spiders in rooms
- foxx (8/5): - a kind and friendly host! the shed is located in the perfect area that is private but still safe, so much equipment and games available to play
- Nicola (6/5): An enjoyable stay ideal for large groups and families. - The property had everything that you could possibly want. The beds were clean and comfortable. The hot water was piping hot with good pressure. There were plenty of board games and activities to keep everybody occupied. Our doggies loved exploring. Whilst we understand this was a shed stay the property needed a very good clean inside to get rid of dust, spiders’ webs and other creepy crawlies. There were also a number of trip hazards with the rugs in the bedrooms. Also needed some lights outside to enable cooking on the bbq. It is near a busy road so at times was quite noisy.
- Lucy (10/5): - Very spacious and great value for money.
- Naomi (6/5): It's a shed stay, so expect shed conditions. - Good location - hearing the frogs from the dam at night. The sheep wondering the paddock the shed is in. Fireplaces. Plenty of games and activities to do inside and out. No fire blanket or extinguisher. The dirty microwave and fridge interiors. No where to put your things in the bathroom/laundry. Towels, tea towels and bed linen not in containers or cupboards to help keep the mice and insects off/out of them.
- Travis (8/5): -
- Dale (10/5): Just a wonderful calm place to be - Something different is brilliant if your looking for that warm , cosy comfortable space to switch off and relax in the fresh air of the country then this is the only place to be.
I loved it !! I really can't think of anything. Everything exceeded what I expected

- Charmaine (9/5): Fantastic and we’ll be back! - Great for larger groups!.
- Katy (10/5): Relaxed, affordable with everything you need. - A brilliant shed stay with so many great activities for all the family. A fantastic escape for large groups. Exactly what we were looking for.
- blair (8/5): - Location. Everything supplied Inc extra blankets, fire wood, cooking utensils. Games and books galore. Although it was a shed, was a great time and kids absolutely loved it. There was a fair bit of dust around and cobwebs around curtains.
- Jane (10/5): We loved our stay. Cant wait to return at a much cooler time of year. We loved the fishing and our hosts were incredibly - I liked it was basic and we felt very comfortable It could do with some more fans in the main area, but I understand how difficult it would be to cool such a large shed
- Muj (6/5): Nice relaxing place with natural surroundings to detox from digital devices. - Nice location with natural surroundings with grazing sheep. Good outdoor activity. Kitchen facilities and tv room. Cobwebs and dust in some places. Place need a good overall clean up and pest control.
- Jocelyn (8/5): Lovely stay. With a welcoming dog Alfie - Farm stay
Something Different Whole house
- Laura (10/5): Awesome off grid "glamping" for families and friends - We have stayed there 5 times now and will be back again and again.. love love love it there (and the owners are LOVELY)..
- Janet (8/5): Fun place for the kids, good base to explore. - Great layout with plenty of space for the kids to play, inside & out. My 5yr old grandson loved going thru the large toy box. Very comfy bed, plenty of extra linen & towels. Well equipped kitchen. We also loved saying hello to the cows each morning & the view of the beautiful large dam & trees. Great base for families to explore this beautiful area. The flies, but hey, we're on a property in a shed in Australia. It wasn't very clean.
- Nicole (10/5): Great memory making short stay - Facilities the way they were meant we were able to visit the beautiful Donnybrook butcher and baker and cook ourselves. Was my 50th birthday and meant the world to me to have all my kids young and old with me my loved pets and great friends, all together and in such an ideal and beautiful location. Hosts were amazing lovely couple . My husband had been twice with his men's club. Highly recommend Flys that was it lol
- Paul (7/5): Overall enjoyable - The location and the fire I couldn’t work out how to get the stove to work. Had to drive into town both mornings to get breakfast.
- Kylie (9/5): A fantastic country retreat with all the basics needed. - Great location, close to donnybrook. There was so much for the kids to do, they didn't stop all weekend.
- Travis (8/5): Value for money 💰 100% - It's a farm lifestyle It is no way romantic. It's gets cold.
- Tree (10/5): Exceptional - Its not insulated so we figured out the kitchen was warmest area and used that to sit in , as it was winter and very cold. Once we sorted that arrangment , we were comphy. Be great for a group where you need the space to spread out. Shower was good. Everything else perfictly adequate. Big feild outside if you play sport.
We were made to feel welcome and so was our service dog♡ Bit cold, but it was middle of winter lol.
- Linda (9/5): Wonderful semi rural property. Very friendly doggy who welcomed everyone. Several sheep who wandered by at times - quite - Remote but within distance of major town Telstra coverage good, other carriers nil - I had Telstra, so no problem.
Bit more cleaning wouldn’t go astray, but we 3 ladies and gentlemen couples for stuck in for a short while to make it very comfortable.
- Joanne (9/5): Superb - Big and open plan. Games and activities for the kids there. Not near others or having to worry about the kids making a noise. Friendly owners who helped out when our car needed a jump start.
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional - As always,perfectly relaxing...
- Katie (10/5): Great place for a country getaway - We had a great stay here. Host was lovely. Location was great for doing a few little day trips and it was great to have the space to ourselves. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of puzzles, games and activities provided. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
- Melanie (8/5): Very good - The location, the hosts, the idea behind it. All fantastic. Host very helpful in getting left behind belongings back to us. Was dusty and dirty. Beds were very uncomfortable.
- Mark (8/5): This is a farmstay in a shed, plenty of space for the entire family, don’t expect pristine, polished 5* accommodation an - Plenty of space, three seperate bedrooms? Plenty of beds, multiple lounges, large open spaces, host was lovely. In fairness to the property, we stayed on the hottest day of the year so it was hot, but with ceiling fans in the bedrooms etc it was manageable.
- Haydock (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location, very relaxing, great atmosphere, great for families, lots for kids to do, owners are very nice people, definitely going back.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mayuka (9/5): Great accommodation in the Ferguson Valley for switching off or as a base to explore the area. - Right in the Ferguson Valley and a short drive to Donnybrook main strip. The shed is huge! It's set up beautifully as a holiday house so everything you need is there already- from kitchen utensils to toys for kids to games like table tennis. It was easy to chill out and relax here. The furniture was generally comfy and there were a few zones to hang out in. The visitors guide book was also very helpful with lots of local tips. The shed is close to the road that some trucks pass down at night, so if you're a light sleeper this might bother you. Also we had no phone reception - but this could also be a good thing.
- Elaine (9/5): An enjoyable holiday , close to surrounding small towns of the region , great hosts , - Unique place to stay , great place for families , very roomy , had everything you need No dislikes
- Adam (6/5): Good value for a larger family. - Loved the space and the wood stoves.Good beds and good kitchen facilities.
Nice hot water in the shower. Could have used more firewood for the stoves. It was really cold when I stayed there. I was out during the day and only used the shed stay for sleep, showering and cooking food. I ran the stove with the flue closed to save wood but really there was only enough wood to warm myself up while eating dinner and showering before jumping in to bed.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trace (10/5): Beautiful 1 Day..Relaxing the next.. - waking up to the beautiful landscape.. A few nights is never enough time..
- K (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabrielle (5/5): Passable - Availability. It was what it was advertised to be a shed stay. I had choice of beds to sleep in. Road traffic- heavy haulage trucks rolling through late at night and restarting at 4 am.
- Trace (10/5): AS ALWAYS we love the ShedStay, its like our second home away from home..Pat n Viv are wonderful - The owners leave the door unlocked in preparation for your arrival.. nothing as everything is there that one needs..
- Carole (7/5): It's a shed! Fun place with no frills. - Something different and quirky. Liked being able to open up the big doors and let the birds in! Traffic noise, bring your ear plugs and you'll sleep like a baby in the fabulous comfy beds.
- John (5/5): It was sort of ok, but not as fresh looking as photos online so bit disappointed - it was only couple hours drive from home, and we meet up with friends. Bed comfortable, kitchen fully stocked with needed equipment. It would be great place for a bucks weekend away or girls overnite stay etc Many sleeping arrangements all very dusty and worned looking. Items in kitchen felt greesy to touch. It all just needed a good overhaul eg dusted, fresh paint inside, toss out old items never to be used.
- Stephens (7/5): Look, it's a shed. Definitely something different in a beautiful location. - The location was gorgeous. Cows and sheep in the fields and a lake which could be used for canoeing if you so wished. We didn't.
Traffic noise was loud but to be expected as shed was fairly close to the road. Bathroom facilities were clean as were the bedrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed including a full size oven.
There were lots of spiders and webs around the place but that's also to be expected as the shed wasn't sealed at the roof. Bedrooms were sealed within the shed so that was good.
We were there in Autumn and the weather was perfect but as the shed isn't insulated I wouldn't like to be there in a heat wave or the middle of winter. There is a wood heater in the kitchen and another one in the main living area and fans in all bedrooms. There were heaps of games you could play but as we didn't have children with us we played cards in the evening. The front door didn't lock so we took our valuables with us on our day trips. I pushed the crate of doonas up to the door in case the axe murderer of Donnybrook tried to get in. (Only joking - about the axe murderer anyway!)
There was lots of grit and sand on the floor so I had to keep my shoes on. Hubby got the vacuum cleaner out and sucked up the worst of it.
- Chris (8/5): great value for a family. - great sceneries bit noisy with traffic.
- Jennifer (9/5): Rustic shed stay in the country. - The dam for kayaking was wonderful. I ĺiked all the games provided. With all the beds, the shed was great for groups like our extended family. There was some truck noise on the main road at night, but we slept well.
- Christelle (8/5): Good value for money, great location and surrounding area - definitely something different to try. - The site was very pleasant, nice location and lovely surrounding area! Plenty of activities available on the premises. Easy to find. Very private. Close to the road, so very noisy any time a truck would go past. The shed door was not lockable, which was not an issue, just a tad odd, especially if you’re used to having your accommodation locked at night or when you leave the premises.
- Kathrine (10/5): we had a relaxing weekend lit the fire outside the first night and the second night the one inside. the rooms were well - great location, comfortable, something different and relaxing atmosphere. Vivian was a great host came and made sure we were ok and gave us some things to do for the weekend. nothing it was great.
- Yasmin (8/5): Very good -
- Elaine (1/5): Dreadful - filthy, freezing, noisy - outside is ok but that was the only nice part the shed is filthy inside and clearly hasn’t been cleaned in years. there are massive cobwebs everywhere - even at easy to reach areas. the kitchen was dirty and the sign warning about rats and mice was very off putting for preparing food there. the dish cloths stank. inside the main living area is a dumping ground for the owners stuff they no longer want - mattresses, an ancient cot, blankets - A MESS! the log burning stove is not enough to heat such a large space so it was freezing at night. shed is close to a busy road so very noisy from early morning. we could not recommend this accommodation to anyone. a major clean and upgrade is needed to make this a comfortable place to stay.
- Patricia (5/5): Coould be good fun, especially a group. Not for oldies ike us, who need a few more comforts. - An excellent space for groups with children. So many options for kids and adults, from table tennis to swimming ln the lake ,dozens of games and DVD's to keep kids of all ages engaged, Basically it is camping indoors. The wood fire in the kitchen is great for warming the kitchen and bathroom only. Set in a glorious setting. Much to like.
The other Fire, we didn't use, but suspect it is not good enough to warm the huge space which is bitterly cold.
It rained daily, so being able to bring the car into the shed was quirky, and good for packing and unpacking. It was very cold. It's a shed, not a Motel room, and what you see is what you get. Not enough light in the TV area.I bought a heater to heat the bedroom before going to bed.
Could have been cleaner
- Trace (10/5): 5 Star for Fun & Relaxation - As expected, we had a wonderful few days, the days were sunny during a break from the August rain.
We awoke on our first morning and slid open the huge shed door to the beautiful day ahead and the black n white sheep grazing outside only metres from us.
If you are after a farm experience and the dam to cool off in during the warmer months, then this is for you.
The colder weather just gives you the best excuse to load up the big fireplace with supplied wood and sit around on the large lounge suite and play board games/table tennis or watch the many videos available in the 1 of 2 Loungerooms.
The property is as far as the eye can see basically and so there's plenty of parking available outside of the shed for all the guests cars.
There's plenty of single beds for kids or adults and larger beds for couples,so there's lots of room for 2-3 families(depending on the numbers) or enough beds for large groups of friends.
You won't find better Property Owners than Pat & Viv as they are very welcoming and will help with your requests or queries for the most part, and they have provided lots of books, games, movies and firewood to enjoy and stay warm during winter.
Day trips into Donnybrook, a mere 14 or so k's away and there's fruit and vegies and an IGA,and takeaway burgers shop,a local pub and a few restaurants.
There's a beautiful park and skate park, bmx track and an old Train station.
This is not 5star accommodation but it's 5star fun and relaxation for kids and adults alike. We had to leave and go home..lol
Having to leave until next time is my only complaint..We LOVE this place..
