Guest Reviews
- Brian (9/5): Superb -
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- Monique (5/5): Passable - Nice Owner was very rude when I had an issue
- Eliza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (9/5): Cute cottage with a lake view - We enjoyed sitting on the back verandah and looking over the lake, listening to the cockatoos.
The cottage is lovely and has everything we needed to cook some meals and stay in.
Stephen Some confusing messages about whether our payment was being processed successfully or not. It was okay in the end.
- Marnie (10/5): Best place I've stayed in. - The cottage was clean, peaceful, and comfortable. Loved how both bedrooms had their own bathroom. The location was perfect. Hosts were great. N/A
- Jillian (2/5): Communication was horrendous, lots of emails with lots of instructions- all while travelling and could not read. 4 unre - Quaint and nice location Arrived at 4.30 and property still wasn’t cleaned, had to disappear for another 40 minutes….! Door onto balcony came off in my hand as it wasn’t secured into door - impossible to close that door with no handle. Coffee machine didn’t work. Poorly presented, table on balcony very dirty, old cigarette butts in a pot plant, leaves every where. Inside could have done with a good clean, spider webs, dirt on window sills.
- Robyn (8/5): Very good - Had a disabled friendly tag however steps into bathroom and into main room not disable friendly
- Spiri (8/5): Very good -
- Mcglone (8/5): Great cottage stay - Location was great with a beautiful view of the lake. Lovely cottage with all the amenities needed. Only a minor thing, but the cottage needs a little bit of love - outside lock on side door didn't work, handle on glass door hanging off.
- Deborah (8/5): A cute, comfy cottage by the lake. - Very cute, comfortable cottage overlooking the lake. Perfect location for walks and shopping. Loved the 2 bathrooms and kitchen/dining facilities with everything necessary to self-cater. Wish we could have stayed longer. My 2 teens would have preferred separate beds!
- Kay (6/5): Ok - Didn't have hair dryer which was advertised and windowsills had a lot of dead flys and ants
- Amanda (9/5): Great location to explore Daylesford and its surrounding area. - Great location with flexibility to change beds from queen to single which suited our group needs. Was clean and tidy with all the things you could want for your stay. Loved the deck where you could look over the lake.
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Shalini (10/5): Beautiful cozy home with all required amenities for a relaxed holiday. - Clean, cute little place, all required facilities, very close to lake and main city Center. Nothing
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (9/5): relaxing cosie and peaceful - The location was amazing. Very relaxing looking out at the water. A lovely walk around the lake very pretty. nothing bothered me
- Char (7/5): Great location but facilities to be improved - No shampoo, no hair dryer, no dishwasher, a broken bedroom door
- David (9/5): Daylesford delights in the comfort of Cara. - Delightful little cottage, steeped in history but well renovated for contemporary comfort. Fantastic location with lake views and an easy walk to Boathouse Restaurant and lake walks. Nothing.
- Ian (7/5): Good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (8/5): This is the perfect location to escape the hustle and bustle of life. - I love its location and the cafe nearby is an added bonus. It’s ‘old’. Even though it’s cosy, warm and clean, it has a very rustic feel.
- Melissa (9/5): Cosy, comfy, great character and location - Cosy, comfortable, fireplace, great location
Quirks and character
Little touches, eg. Bits & bobs in the kitchen, firewood A few areas could of been cleaned a bit more carefully.. but no big deal
- Carolyn (5/5): Passable - I sent a message to the property management detailing all the issues that I had, because I didn’t want to leave a bad review.
It’s now been four weeks and I haven’t had any response, so they’ve left me no choice. I won’t go into any of the details, but, very bad customer service.
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (9/5): A pretty cottage with lovely views of the lake and a beautiful town to explore -
- Steve (8/5): had a great time, would recomend Cara Cottage - Comfy beds, great location the step down into the bathroom, but that is being picky
- Annette (5/5): Great area but not clean. - Location is amazing. It was very dirty. So disappointed. Dead insects on the window ledges, dirty inside the draws, microwave was filthy. Not sure how long it has been since it was cleaned. Old mouse droppings in the cupboard. Dead millipedes in draw. Cracked wine glass on the coffee table.
- Adam (10/5): Beautiful location and very quaint. Will definitely stay again. - Loved the ambience and location of the cottage. Would have loved to have stayed longer. Nothing.
- Naomi (9/5): Great little cottage. Perfect for a weekend getaway. - Location Bedding requests wasn't what we asked for on the check in form.
- Kylie (8/5): Gorgeous and peaceful spot for a comfortable getaway - Fabulous location, walked to town and the Lake House and around the lake. Beautiful view of the lake. Comfortable seating and beds. Kitchen looked to have anything you could need. Given its age it is a quirky little building with tons of character. The bathrooms seem to have had a home renovation job. I hope the owners are saving up to do them properly. But clean enough and functional.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - View of the lake, great location.
- Anupam (8/5): Beautiful cozy home, highly recommend for a small family or group of friends for a short stay. - Excellent location, close to lake, boat house, picnic area and kids play area, friendly host, cozy and beautiful cottage perfect for a family weekend outing. Coffee machine wasn't working, had little difficulty in starting heater but was guided by the host. All doors were little hard to close and open.
- Nel (8/5): We loved it but left a day earlier because of the extreem heat and fire danger - Cosy beautiful decorated and everything very well documented Steps from the bedroom to the bathroom is a bit tricky for older people
- Melanie (7/5): Great location to walk the lake and into town is possible. - Great location, quiet and easy off street parking.
Suited us 2 girls, travelling for some retail therapy and the lovely local eateries!
Great to have separate and private bathrooms each.
Loved walking out the front door to walk around the lake each morning, such a beautiful location and wonderful easy walk. The step down into the bathroom may be a problem for older guests
- Debra (8/5): Very enjoyable and relaxing ,great for two couples . View was superb - The location was excellent ,overlooking the lake and a short walk into town.
- N (7/5): Fair - Needs a AC or fan inthe bedrooms as it’s too hot during summer
- Annabel (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (10/5): Wonderful and relaxing location. - The location and charm of the property The large step from bedroom to in suite.
- Howard (8/5): Comfortable cottage in an excellent location -
- David (8/5): Relaxing - Location Old BUT very clean and comfortable
- Linda (8/5): Beautiful, peaceful, convenient location to catch up with friends. - Excellent location with lake views and walking tracks not far. Great wood heater and ensuite for each bedroom with comfortable beds. Could have a better BBQ for the price, electric and wobbly! The milk frother was missing the part that froths the milk.
- Charla (9/5): Very comfortable, great relaxing views, close to everything, - Proximity to town, views of Lake Daylesford. Very quiet area considering its popularity. It was great!
- Audrey (8/5): Very good - The view was stunning. Great for kids, as it's only a 30 second walk to the park. It would be nice if there were a few more pots and pans for cooking
- Anne (10/5): Cosy, clean and comfortable accommodation in an amazing location on the Lake. - Clean, comfortable, beautiful location on the lake, lovely veranda. Having to remember the steep step down into the bathroom from the bedroom.
- Helena (8/5): Wonderful place to escape the city for short stay. We will be back! - Absolutely charming property in an unbeatable location. Perfect fir our small family get away. The cottage was so well presented with quirky features, and everything you need for a short stay.
- Pradeep (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (6/5): Cara is a blend of historic cottage and cosy getaway. - Good location overlooking the lake. There was an ant problem in the kitchen on arrival. Soon dispatched and no further issue. Also, unable to open most windows which made it a bit stuffy.
- Elizabeth (9/5): One of the best stays I’ve had. Looking forward to staying here again. - Cara is a beautiful little self-standing cottage situated in the best location Daylesford could offer. I enjoyed how just after a very short walk, there is access to a cute little cafe down by the lake. It’s is such a peaceful, serene, quiet area to visit and after a busy time at work, it was exactly what I needed. I particularly love the access to walking tracks to go and explore the immediate area and even though you’d meet others on the tracks, everyone was so friendly.
Cara is a very cosy cottage. The two bedrooms (each with ensuites) gave me privacy when I needed it and the beautiful big balcony with lake views was a brilliant way to relax and take in the magical sounds of nature. I can’t wait to go back. Nothing
- Gabrielle (8/5): Very good -
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location, comfy bed, all that we needed. Fire fantastic. Would book again. Complimentary wine bottle was empty on arrival! Outdoor chairs were grimy and a bit mossy... ?need to be under a cover, a little bit of dust, grime in kitchen cupboard under sink. All the rest was great.
- Arthur (8/5): Very good -
- Eva (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous little cottage, very clean, comfy beds. Beautiful views from the balcony. We liked everything about Cara.
- Colin (8/5): Cara is cute, cosy and comfortable. - Recommend by family members who stayed in June, this perfectly located cottage has all you need for a short stay. Good beds, 2 bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, aircon and log fire. The cute cottage has some wonky angles which add to the charm.
Vanessa and the owner were very quick to rectify a plumbing problem, thank you. There’s a large step down into both bathrooms. The handrail helps a bit.
- Terri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Senalee (8/5): Very good -
- Jade (10/5): Our time at Cara was beautiful, it’s prime location gave us the opportunity to explore the town without it feeling to fa - Absolutely stunning location and close enough to be able to walk into town. I had that lovely homey feeling, especially once the fire place was lit We had a little 8 legged friend join us but obviously that could happen anywhere, he didn’t stay long
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Clean, great lakeside position. Comfortable and clean and good facilities.
- Jools (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable & the location was perfect - we loved our stay! - Vanessa was extremely easy to communicate with. The location of the property was perfect! I loved the quirkiness of the crooked doors which made the cottage so quaint! LOVED IT ! This isn't a complaint - more of a heads up - The runners for the bins (under the sink) was sticking and we were very cautious not to break it. More runners could do the trick
- Kelli (8/5): Will definitely return to this cute little cottage - Gorgeous little cottage with views of the lake. Cosy and comfortable on arrival and a great location
- Gayle (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (10/5): Best stay. Wish we had some more time - Beautiful Cottage with everything provided. the place is beautiful with access to the lake from the backyard.
