Guest Reviews
- Lorraine (8/5): Comfortable, clean, warm and roomy - Like coming home to your own home. Clean, comfortable, roomy. You need a car as the corttage is a little out of the main town. Walking distance to Travel Info location and Sixt car hire.
Host always available to answer any questions. No WiFi. Could do with new bed linen and towels. Although everything was very clean.
- Kay (8/5): Comfortable with plenty of onsite parking.and good location. - Location was excellent. Issue with door locks.
- Genny (8/5): I loved my stay in Broken Hill. The cottage was lovely and I would definitely stay again. - Beds were clean and comfortable and very stylishly made up Bathroom was a little dated, but it was definitely clean
- Linda (9/5): Comfortable. Secure. - We enjoyed staying at the property and most enjoyed 3 pretty equal bedroomsr All was good
- Cameron (8/5): Excellent value and fantastic location - Location in Broken Hill was excellent Multi level makes it difficult for the elderly to navigate
- Robert (7/5): Very nice. No complaints - No breakfast location good The bugs
- Don (10/5): Beautiful house very clean and comfortable - Lovely house quite location beds very comfortable, shower lots hot water, kitchen had everything you need , laundry very handy, everything spotless, a lovely place Nothing
- Ray (10/5): 11/10 - Thank you Heather! - Heather is a wonderful host and an absolute pleasure to deal with. She was prompt and helpful in all her communication and happily answered any questions I had. The cottage itself is beautiful, spotlessly clean and features brand new paving outside that adds to its charm. Overall, I couldn’t recommend a better place to stay in Broken Hill and will definitely be booking again in the future.
- Warren (5/5): A nice place, - A very cold place not a lot of heating. Could have been a couple of throw blankets in the loungeroom.Left after two nights to cold
- Russell (4/5): Owner was rude when we rang to ask for the code to the lock box containing the keys. - The location. * Place required a very good clean. e.g. The side board in the dining room was full of dust. I realise that Broken Hill is a dusty area, however you would expect that the cleaners would be attuned to ensuring that everything was clean.
*Towels were old and needed replacing, very stained.
* Paid for a 3 bedroom cottage and the 2nd bedroom was locked.
* After 3 nights in dreadful heat we finally messaged the owner on how to work the air coolant, after we found the box on the roof.
* As you stepped out of the back door there were loose pavers which were very dangerous!!
- Karen (10/5): - Great location
Good size
Comfortable
- Kate (8/5): The cottage has everything we needed. Great location to get to all things Broken Hill. - It had everything we needed.
- Clydesdale (8/5): -
- Fiona (10/5): - Heathers cottage was a home away from home - close to all amenities and attractions. The Cottage had everything we needed to be self sufficient and comfortable for our stay. NA
- chris (10/5): -
- Penny (7/5): We enjoyed our time in Broken Hill. - Comfortable and close to town. Quiet area. For me I consider olive oil a staple and would like to be included when it states fully equipped kitchen.
One day the weather was terrible and we thought we’d watch a dvd but the player didn’t work.
- Shane (10/5): Nice home good location very well organized by the owner. - Location was good I was able to work to Main Street, also to the hospital where I was working. There were no issues with the property
- Gerard (9/5): Hit the mark...need versus reality! - Getting the keys was no issue using the lock-box and code provided by the owner.
Comfortable and clean...we were happy though out most days.
Host was very accommodating and kind. My only reservation is that it says air conditioned in the listing, but it isn't. There were portable heaters that managed the job so no real complaints, but might be different in summer.
- Peter (10/5): Excellent place to stay in Broken Hill. -
- Glen (8/5): Very comfortable and quiet area we did enjoy it and was happy with how clean and tidy it was - Was a very neat and tidy little house in a quiet area Slightly out of the way
- Bernadette (7/5): - The cottage was very roomy and comfortable. N/A
- Leon (7/5): Great place. Good option - Heather's Mica cottage was nigh on perfect for our 3 night stay for two adults and two older teens on a road trip from Sydney. After 2+ days in the car and 2 nights on the road the space it offered was very very welcome. Having a bedroom for each of our kids was great.
It's not fancy but everything is of a good standard and in good order. The town centre was just in walking distance . . . . much further and there might have been complaints. I gather that we were travelling at unseasonably mild time of winter and the electric blankets and heaters were fine, they might struggle a bit if it got much colder.
- lancashirelass (8/5): Very comfortable stay with all the self-contained amenities you could hope for. - A very comfortable 3 bedroom cottage with all the self-contained facilities I required for a comfortable long weekend stay for work. The bed in particular was very comfortable. Wifi would have been nice - it is unusual not to have this supplied these days.
Some facilities will need updating and I have left a personal note in regards to this, which was acknowledged with good grace.
- Gregory (9/5): Superb - Whole house, easy access
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (7/5): Good -
- Julie (10/5): Lovely, as usual. - Good location, not CBD but close enough. Comfortable living.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Edward (9/5): Great stay, felt like a home away from home with lots of thoughtful touches -
- Carmel (7/5): Good -
- Aj (10/5): Great Broken Hill cottage - This is a great place to stay. Not far from town. Very quiet little cottage. Good facilities.
Near everything
- Jocelyn (8/5): Very good -
- Peters (8/5): Very good - Location, undercover parking onsite.
Kitchen well equipped.
Towel rails, storage, mirror for every bedroom.
Big bathroom.
Laundry facilities
New dishwasher just installed.
Foil and gladwrap for left overs
Microwave and microwave receptacles.
Plenty of hot water. Bit on the dusty side
Outdoors needs a bit of a tidy up as nice to sit out there in the evening.
Window frames need attention.
- Graeme (9/5): Superb -
- Marilyn (7/5): Good - The cottage was well located and spacious. We liked having laundry facilities and clothes line.
The bed was comfortable with quality bedding. Unfortunately the kitchen was not clean. When we arrived and wanted to make a drink, we found several mugs that were obviously dirty. When making dinner, I also found dirty plates and bowls. The cutlery tray contained a lot of debris and grease. The dishwasher was clearly dirty around the filter and was smelly and didn't clean the items inside. They came out dirtier than before washing. We resorted to hand washing everything we used, which was somewhat difficult given the old and worn out scourers and sponge provided.
- Dale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janine (9/5): Most enjoyable and would be happy to recommend Heather's Mica cottage to others. - The bed was very comfortable, as were the sofas in the lounge room.
Having a separate dining room (with elegant wooden table and dressers) was very nice, although there was a table in the kitchen, if we had wanted to use that. (The table and chairs there were handy to put things onto as we came in the back door)
Modern kitchen with plenty of utensils and equipment and large fridge/freezer, as well as some condiments.
Modern bathroom, with some toiletries supplied. Plenty of good quality towels supplied too.
The weather was starting to warm up and we appreciated the ceiling fan in the bedroom. There was a portable fan in the lounge room too. Didn't need to use the evap. aircon, so can't comment on that.
We didn't end up using the laundry facilities but, at the time of booking, were glad to have that available, as we were staying 5 nights.
We enjoyed the old-world character of the place, such as its ornate pressed metal ceilings
Location was good, close to many of the places that we visited. There is quite a big step down from the lounge room to the dining room and having bad knees, it was tricky stepping down . Had to step down sideways and hold onto the architraves, so do-able. But if an extra step could be added in (to reduce the height of each step) and a hand rail installed, that would solve that problem.
- Margaret (8/5): Very comfortable, cosy and clean cottage. The extra loo in the laundry was a bonus. Plenty of space. - After a long drive we would really have appreciated milk in the fridge (even UHT) so we could have a cuppa without having to go back out again. This should be virtually a given.
- Margaret (7/5): Great place to stay to explore Broken Hill - Walk to town, well equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings. Some kitchen pantry supplies.
Heather was friendly and helpful. Outdoor furniture and Dishwasher need attention/replacement?
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good - Good location and price Some appliances were a little old and needed maintenance
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Virginia (8/5): Very good -
- Noel (9/5): Superb -
- Liz (9/5): I had a busy stay so it was always great to get back to my cottage home each night. - I had hired a car except for the last 2 days and Mica Cottage was in easy walking distance of the main drag in Broken Hill which suited me. Staying in a cottage rather than motel is a new experience for me and I would do so again. The cottage has character. The bed was extremely comfortable. Small point - no milk in fridge when I arrived and was looking forward to a cuppa after a long train trip.
- Camillia (10/5): Peaceful, comfortable, happy, overall 10/10 - I love everything about it ❤️
- Denise (9/5): Superb -
- Miccanberra (8/5): Very good -
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Williams (8/5): More than adequate for us -
- Sue (10/5): Heather was a fantastic host! - Loved the cute little cottage and all its furnishings. Very comfortable stay. Nothing.
- Administrator (5/5): Passable - Location was good Bathroom needed a good scrub!
- Vashti (7/5): Good - Very comfortable property close to town
- Dorcas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (9/5): Very pleasant stay, close to centre of town. - Backyard parking was excellent. Met the host, very friendly. Plenty of room to spread out in the dining room. The bed was not too firm. Toilet plumbing needs attention, continually runs.
- Bernadette (8/5): Great Accommodation. - Effective Evaporative Air Conditioning, but its loud as you have to keep the bedroom doors and windows open to use it.
Good location, Big well-appointed rooms, Extra outdoor toilet was a bonus. Nothing really,
- Judith (9/5): Very comfortable cottage, great stay. - I’ve stayed there before and the cottage is just as good as the last time. The mattresses could be more comfortable.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (9/5): Perfect five days and nights, even the weather cooperated. - Little things like bositos hand wash in bathroom
Backyard complete with chairs and table
Very comfy beds
Very easy to book accommodation, also to contact host as needed
Everything there we needed including washing facilities It was very dark inside, possibly as I suffer with macular degeneration it appeared more to me.
By the time we left got used to the levels as you walk from the front to the back of the house.
The fact that the best fruit was on the top of the tree and couldn’t reach it!
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (7/5): Good - Location was great. Quiet Could have been a bit cleaner. The kitchen needs a good deep clean. All aspects of the kitchen need cleaning. I’m a clean freak, maybe take time to clean house from top to bottom.
- Gwendoline (8/5): This met our needs for a three-night stay and would be pleased to stay longer at a future time. - It's always a privilege to have the run of a cottage instead of a motel stay. Being able to catch up the laundry after more than a week on the road was an added bonus. As a blogger, internet access is important. I overcame the lack by hot spotting on my mobile phone which had surplus data rolled over from previous months.
- Austin (9/5): Very pleasant. It exceeded my expectations. It was as comfortable as being in my own home. - Range of facilities, cathedral ceilings, beds were very comfortable, spacious, easy to access great outdoor facilities.
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynda (10/5): Very convenient, quiet, close to amenities. Host very easy to communicate with. - We had a lovely stay. My colleagues and I were in town for work. The location was central. It was quiet (just what we needed after working each day) and the communication with Heather was great. Would recommend staying. Nil.
- Yvonne (10/5): Perfect place for a short stay or a long stay in Broken Hill. This place had it all. - Comfortable relaxing cottage with many extras provided: plenty of hand sanitiser, wet-wipes and tissues. Lots of living space and bedroom space. Well appointed kitchen and bathroom. Easy walk to town. Great communication with the owner who was very, very helpful.
- Ed (9/5): Great. All good. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay while in Broken Hill. -
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Allport (9/5): Superb - Close to town,
Off road parking at rear
Full kitchen and facilities
- Garry (10/5): Lovely accommodation - Heather was excellent. House was well stocked with everything you need and more. Dvd player was not working. But made do with our laptop computer
- Jana (1/5): Could not stay, too cold. Very disappointing. - The cottage was easy to find. After entering the cottage we discovered that there were only three tiny heaters which would not have been able to warm the place up. The booking we had was for the house, but only one bedroom was available, the other two rooms were locked up. We didn't use anything in the cottage. Spoke with Heather on the phone who advised us that this is winter in Broken Hill and to look for the tiny electric heaters and wait for the cleaning lady who would unlock one more bedroom. Informed Heather that my health would suffer in such cold place, but she was unwilling to offer refund/discount.
- Rhuby (9/5): Excellent accommodation in Broken Hill - Loved the off-street parking, the quiet area (sleeping was no problem), the electric blankets, the equipment available in the kitchen, the cleanliness. Heather was also very kind and communication was excellent. Loved having an affordable house in Broken Hill, with everything we needed for our stay. The house was a little cold, although electric blankets were on the beds and and blow heaters were throughout the house, and a little gas heater in the sitting room, so it wasn't too bad, and I was never cold in bed.
Many rooms have a step from one to the other - not a problem for us, but maybe not great if you are unsteady on your feet.
Toilet did occasionally make an odd noise at random invervals...
- Janine (10/5): great holiday house in excellent location. - comfortable, plenty of room, off street parking, great location. well furnished and equipped no wifi. shower leaks.
- Sharyn (8/5): Very good -
- Kerry (9/5): Would happily stay again and refer to friends. -
- Barbara (7/5): Enjoyable. Nice accommodation unfortunately shared with mouse. - No breakfast provided. Suitable for our needs. Mouse in kitchen.
- Bronwen (5/5): Passable - The host was prompt in response to any questions.
The location was close to the town centre and the beds were comfortable. There were a lot of dusty surfaces and mould in the shower. There was no internet connection (I didn't see this stated on booking.com when I booked).
- Daryl (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Heather’s Mica cottage is great place to stay , Heather is an excellent host - nicely appointed house all good
- Norman (8/5): Overall the cottage met all the requirements of our short stay, - I found the cottage very quaint and liked the high ceilings which kept the property cool while I was out and about. From my partners point of view who has difficulty on steps a grap handle on the wall between the lounge and the step down to the dining room would have an added bonus.
- Sneath (8/5): Okay 👌 - House was old and part of broken Hill history lovely ceilings and warn door steps House was in a rough looking street and needed some Loving little touches

- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Brenton (9/5): very good house with everything provided - location close to city centre all was good

Spotless
Close to everything We had to leave as our stay was over

- Stuart (9/5): Mica cottage was very comfortable and in a good location. Great value for money. - Bedrooms were very comfortable with electric blankets. House was very clean. Only issue was the heating in the dining room. The heater there didn't work and the other small heater wasn't adequate for the space. The heater in the front room was good though.
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lubanks (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay, - The property was within walking distance to the main street and dining facilities. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extras in the kitchen. An issue with the oven.
