- Steven (10/5): Amazing views ,extremely clean and felt like I was in a 5 star hotel - Amazing view, looked amazing inside and was a very cool experience to stay there Only bad thing was the shower, was at a weird height and went cold quite quickly
- Jack (10/5): Absolutely breathtaking once in a lifetime stay!! -
- Sercan (10/5): -
- Joanne (8/5): Lovely place, amazing views. - The views were amazing The views

- Ben (9/5): -
- Salvatore (9/5): An amazing experience, the sunrise and sunset were so good and the stacker sliding doors when open brought Mother Nature - A once in a life time experience. It felt like you were in the clouds one with the elements.

- Clare (9/5): Simply magical - The location and the views are incredible. The property is truely stunning and totally unique and there just aren’t words to adequately describe how magical the 180 degree views of the coast are. We woke each morning to beautiful sunrises, stared endlessly at the ocean watching the waves and the surfers all day, then we sighed in awe as the sun went down and the stars came out to reveal the southern cross watching over us. I can’t wait to return. The property is very minimalist and the bed is a drop down wall unit that is a little small if you are used to a king size bed. The pillows were awful and need replacing and the single use toiletries really need to be replaced with something more environmentally responsible. Given how expensive it is to stay there we just felt a little more was needed in terms of the quality of bedding, crockery etc.. as well as some nice touches like a knee rug, a bottle of local wine - social touches to go with the ambience and the tariff.
- Paul (9/5): Was a great experience and we enjoyed every minute. -

- Rebecca (7/5): The view was fantastic but I definitely think for the price it was a bit disappointing and I have stayed in places all o - The view was fantastic. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. Fireplace was great. The place was very clean. -The bed is small. I am short and my feet were right at the end of the bed my husband’s were off the end. However the bed has a VERY comfortable mattress and pillows.
-The kitchen is not well equipped. It needs a proper stove top and oven as people like to cook.
-The electric blinds are cool but would have liked them to be able to be separately closed/opened.
-Husband had a shower the second night then I had one after and it was barely lukewarm.
-The fireplace was great but there wasn’t enough kindling and the wood was damp so it was hard to get it going. Smaller dry wood pieces and more kindling would have made it much better.
Overall I was happy with the stay but when the price is this high I definitely expected more.
- Jenny (8/5): Amazing but over priced l - Beautiful Only enough wood
Milk out of date
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colleen (9/5): Perfect location and a must do experience. - Certainly the best location and views along the coast. Amazing experience.
- Ely (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (10/5): Fantastic! - Location and views Nothing we didn’t like
- Maria (5/5): Passable - The view was amazing. Their had no clear instructions of where to park. We had to try call through (which was tricky enough) their was no mention as their was a shared property.
For the price you pay, their is no cooktop oven. Which was disappointing.
Their was only lamps to use, all other balcony/bridge lights were not working.
For the price you pay, main essentials were not available.
- Ricky (10/5): Exceptional -
- A (8/5): Beautiful views - but not 5* and I’m not sure it’s really worth paying all that money for - The views are absolutely breathtaking They send you a huge list of other property requirements but not until after the cancellation period has passed. This included requesting bank card details and copies of your ID (which coming off the back of the fraud Booking.com are warning about, it wasn’t great being asked for the information). I was told I wouldn’t be allowed to access the premises without providing it. They also then tell you that they require you to take out the bins if your stay corresponds with bin collection days. I do not pay $1700 a night to be asked to take out other people’s rubbish. Really poor form.
There is no mosquito netting on any of the windows so if you prefer fresh air to air-conditioning, you can’t open the windows after sunset as you will be mobbed by mosquitos and other insects.
There is also no security barrier of any description to the premises so if you want to sleep with the giant windows/doors open to hear the sound of the sea, there is nothing to stop intruders (or people just curious about seeing the PoleHouse) from joining you in the property.
The bathroom is also really weird - no shelves to put your toothbrush or toiletries and it’s built into the middle of the room so kills the set up of the space.
The bed is a fold up sofa bed
The kitchenette is beyond basic and they don’t leave you anything for breakfast. Not even fresh milk. Just a few coffee pods.
I’m not sure they wash the bathrobes between visitors as we found a cigarette lighter and some rubbish in the pocket of one of them.
- Kerry (10/5): fabulous! - very unique. the views exceptional. the room very very comfortable.
- Kevin (7/5): Good - Great view when we cleaned the windows and balustrades. They sell the view, but windows & balustrades not cleaned. Wifie put her shoulder out cleaning them. The smal things also let it down. No tea bags, white & black pepper but no salt. One mug and one cocktail glass. No stic vac. No key code, had to go to the agents to pickup & return keys.
Overpriced!
- Jake (3/5): Poor - The staff was extremely rude to my partner and I, property had been double booked and I was accused of not paying for the booking and was told that I have to get out even after sending multiple screenshots of receipts and confirmation msgs. In the end they thought I was someone else so it was all fine
- Ricky (10/5): Unbelievable - The facilities, the view, the bed, the kitchen EVERYTHING Nothing
- Tony (8/5): Very good -
- Matt (9/5): Superb -
- Tim (9/5): Superb - Great experience, beautiful views
- Meet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): We had a lovely time. - Amazing location. There was no sugar or tea bags. The toiletries were average. No instructions on how to use the coffee machine.
- Lisa (8/5): Enjoyed our stay, saw whales and the Fire was magical while watching the waves crash onto the beach. - I have driven past this house ever since I moved to Melbourne in the early 90s, and booked a year in advance to give my partner a birthday surprise! It is magical having the fire burning watching the waves crashing down on the beach. We even saw a few whales :) Floors are super cold in winter; for the amount of money this property brings in, better cooking facilities, so we could cook breakfast, and underfloor heating would have been amazing.
- Michelle (9/5): No need to be scared of heights, the views are amazing. - The views were amazing. Car parking great. Not much ceature comforts, equipment, brooms, toaster etc were average. Recliner not working. Unable to reach bedside tables. Only one table next to couch. No tissues. No spot for toothbrush.
No face washers, towels poor.
- Howe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Superb - More towels would have been nice
- Rahib (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicki (9/5): Bucket list ticked, an amazing experience. - The moment we crossed the walkway we were transported into another world of sheer luxury. The house is actually quite small but very spacious, a minimalist approach to furnishing works so well as the views are amazing. The windows are cleaned weekly, and we were lucky enough to have them cleaned whilst we were there.
There is also a resident one-legged magpie who likes savoy biscuits who came to visit us a few times. Although the black drop curtains do block out a certain amount of light , I would suggest if you're a light sleeper pack an eye mask as the car head lights driving up and down The Great Ocean Road light up the house from both directions.
- Gs (9/5): Superb -
- Alaa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (7/5): An experience! - The view was amazing!
It was on our bucket list. The chain on the entry was really heavy to open.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - The view is absolutely amazing and the fire place was so cosy!
- Mark (8/5): Very memorable - The view, the couch, the design, the layout, sliding doors, the balcony Amount of wood available (none stacked at main house), the Smokey fire, the lack of tea and coffee. The beds and linen were absolutely terrible! Super soft and no support whatsoever. The linen was just way to hot even with the doors open
- Aron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thrived (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- David (9/5): Overall, an amazing place to stay. - The Pole House has stunning views. You can hear the waves rolling in constantly. It is a one of a kind experience. Minor maintenance issue in the bathroom door not staying fully closed. A bit more kindling to help get the fire going would have been helpful. Something other than a heavy awkward chain for the entrance to the driveway would be nice.
- T (10/5): Exceptional -
- Davide (7/5): Nice but not worth the price you pay for it - The view and the set-up of the house cleanliness of the windows
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Merrilyn (8/5): A Birthday Night Away! - The views were exceptional, certainly a wow factor when you walk across the bridge to the Pole House. The fireplace was lovely and warm, the end of summer but still needed a fire. It’s as solid as a rock, windy but didn’t feel any swaying. Well engineered. Loved the little welcome goodies. You pay good money to stay at the Pole House, they really should put a proper bed in, the bed was a Murphy bed in much need of replacing, sags in the middle, and should be a least a king size. Couch also needs replacing, it’s lost its support and padding. No sugar and no tissues.
- Hanine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maree (9/5): It was wonderful, I read the reviews and they worried me, but bed was fine, was amazing views - It was pretty the view and no kids noise. No fuss, like the birds that visited. Liked the basket of goodies. Parking was great. The bed was ok, couch worked if you added pillows. Likes the board games. There was no milk. The blanket in the cupboard to put on my knees was hard and prickly. The lights above the table didn’t work. Price was over the top but well I paid it.
