- MERJA (7/5): peaceful and cozy - Our host was lovely and it was a beautiful, peaceful location. Beautiful view from the verandah. Cozy inside and fab fireplace.
Large well fenced yard for dogs. I would not recommend this house to anyone with significant balance or mobility issues. It is an old cottage and many of the floors were sloping and uneven. The house was fine for us, but the pictures on the site did not reflect the rustic nature of the house. The toilet is inside, with a large step up and the bathroom is outside.
- Rose (9/5): A really quiet and comfortable place to relax with many delicious food treats to be had nearby. -
- Jill (8/5): Unique natural location for a quiet getaway. - This was a very quirky and unique house which reminded us of our childhood holidays. It was surrounded by bushland, so gave ample opportunities for watching birds, wallabies etc. we loved the wood fire….! The outdoor location of the shower and separate toilet indoors was difficult, especially on a cold night. Maybe extra kindling wood for the fire ?
- Margaret (10/5): Comfortable stay in a charming cottage, a perfect base to explore Bruny Island. - Great location, had everything we needed, comfortable and full of interesting books. Lovely open fireplace and great views from the veranda. Nothing not to like. It’s rustic but that is part of its charm.
- Sarah (9/5): Calming bush stay to settle and sit a while - Quiet bush setting
Kitchen well equipped
Comfy beds. Good linen
Hot wster bottles a nice touch

- Barry (10/5): Peaceful and rejuvenating - Such a secluded place with so much character. Bird life was amazing. Old cottage with great books. I liked the up and down floors. Maybe the toilet room was a bit rough
- Kathleen (8/5): - Bruny Island truly is a special place. Having this peaceful paradise to return to after a day of exploring was wonderful. The birds, wildlife and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets from a magical sunroom is not something we will forget in a hurry.
- vanessa (10/5): A perfect getaway and Suhela was a wonderful host. - A beautiful property furnished with exquisite touches and full of individuality. Loved sitting on the verandah looking out over the bay, and the Evening visits from wallabies and pademelons. Nothing.
- Syou Rung (10/5): -
- Tessier (10/5): - The location and hospitality of the host were incredible
- Kim (8/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable. -

- Keriann (10/5): Perfect and peaceful stay at an eclectic cottage! - I stayed at this property with my husband and mum, and everything about our stay at Wylah Cottage was magical. From the majestic ocean views to the serene atmosphere to the beautifully appointed cottage, it was absolutely perfect. It was convenient to access hikes and restaurants, but secluded enough to provide really peaceful family time. We spent our nights cooking, playing games, enjoying the fire, and stargazing at the picnic table. The friendly wallabies were a welcome addition! The cottage had everything we needed and more, and the host, Suhela, was prompt and thorough in her communication, as well as incredibly kind. We cannot wait to come back!
- Lisa (9/5): Great stay. Exactly as per the description. - The property was well described and on a quiet road on Simpson Bay
- Jennifer (10/5): Bliss - Wonderful generous supply Nothing

- Jenny (9/5): - The views are wonderful. The serenity of being in a quiet space surrounded by wallabies, birds and bush. It’s so peaceful. Soothes the soul. Loved the beds and linen. The fire place and the fabulous, eclectic books. There is so much to love here. Don’t expect the Ritz, this is a place to relax in warm, rustic charm. A nature lovers paradise.
- Susan (10/5): A wonderful place to get away from it all and enjoy nature - Warm, cosy and comfortable
- robert (9/5): -
- Oliver (7/5): Very suitable for our bird watching and walking stay - We bought our own breakfasts The couch and chairs in the sunroom were a bit uncomfortable , and not easy for our group in the 75-81 age group to get out of!
- Elizabeth (8/5): -
- Gurung (10/5): We loved staying at Suhela cottage. Everything was decorated perfectly, loved the artwork and sunroo - The location was perfect. It was peaceful and nice, just the way we wanted it. Loved the cottage and how beautifully it was decorated. The vibe was cozy and homely which made it easier for me as I tend to get anxious when staying in new place. The room has blanket heater and room heater too to make you warm in cold weather.
Our favourite spot was sunroom where all morning from where you could see birds, sea and so some meditation. Also, loved the seashells crafts.
Overall, we loved staying here and I would recommend Suhela cottage to everyone.
- Kaitlyn (9/5): Easy, cozy and peaceful stay on Bruny. - We loved the art and books. The fireplace was also a lovely feature. Beds were comfy and it was very quiet spot to relax and enjoy the scenery.
- Beltran (10/5): Wylah in Bruny is the perfect place to unplug - Everything great view, homey and very clean! Nothing.

- Erika (9/5): -
- Rachel (7/5): Rustic - Its quiet and fireplace was rustic. Owner was attentive and helpful Tassy had a cold snap whilst we stayed here and the house was freezing. Lots of firewood available and comfy beds with electric blankets and oil heaters but was very cold.
- Laís (1/5): -
- Powell (9/5): Lovely cottage - The cottage is in a stunning location and had everything we needed. It's got a beautiful open fire place and a kitchen with everything you need. Beautiful veranda to sit on and wallabies come right up to the back door. Floors are a little uneven as it's an old cottage and some parts have stairs so probably not great if you have mobility issues. We loved it though! Highly recommend.
- Tsuyoshi (10/5): - We had great experience at Wylah Cottage, we wish we'll stay again.
Host Suhela is very kind and gave us information frequently, which is not only surrounding information such as shops, restaurants but the southern light forecast.
We love the atmosphere about Wylah, especially we feel that we visit to wallabies spot. Breakfast with wallabies, washing dishes with seeing wallabies, say hi to wallabies when we take shower... When we left Wylah and stayed at other place, my kids said "Where is wallabies? We wanna back and meet up with them". If tourists want to stay quite place with wildlife, I recommend to consider Wylah as a place to stay. I don't mean it's not good or improvement point, it's little bit hard for foreigner to arrive at there. I didn't have the experience to drive carefully for wildlife.
- Arpita (10/5): - We had a wonderful 2-day stay at this charming waterfront cottage on South Bruny Island. The decor is absolutely beautiful – warm, cozy and full of character. The house is very well-equipped with everything one may need, making it feel like a home away from home. The setting is incredibly peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Waking up to the tranquil views over the water was a highlight. Our host Suhela was welcoming, responsive, and made sure everything was just right for our stay. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a quiet, comfortable retreat in nature.
- Kingscott (9/5): - We loved the remoteness of the location. The cottage was super clean and had everything we needed or wanted. It was quirky, had loads of character and the locals (aka the wallabies) were really friendly. We liked all of it.
- SUJIN (10/5): - 왈라비 밥도 줄 수 있고 세탁기도 사용할 수 있고 조리도구도 다 갖춰져 있고 무엇보다 숙소가 너무 예뻐요 다시와도 여기 묵고싶어요
- James (10/5): Great place for a 'recharge' - Rustic serenity
- Eji (9/5): Suhela has turned the cottage into a little oasis from the outside world . The cottage is comfortable inviting and the v - The location was perfect with magnificent views There is no wi - fi and reception was limited
- Jane (10/5): Character filled cottage in excellent location to enjoy nature and quiet. Unique. - The location of the cottage is wonderful. It overlooks the bay at the end of an unsealed road. The wildlife is happening before your eyes and the birds are beautiful. Quiet and relaxing. The cottage is character filled and not modern but with many comfortable features. A thoughtful and generous host who has provided very well for your stay. Leaving 😀
- Pamela (7/5): Good -
- Sekar (8/5): Excellent - The location - overlooking the bay, and living amongst all the animals was quite an experience I understand it's not avoidable given it's a forest but we spotted quite a few centipedes inside the unit which could scare kids
- Lachlan (8/5): Meets the description - definitely tranquil but expect an eclectic experience. - Great location and very peaceful and scenic.location. Fireplace was a great way to warm the cottage up. The cottage is rustic and a work in progress but it was clean and comfortable so we were more than happy with our stay there. We'd stay there again.
- Kirstie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gardener (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (7/5): Peaceful Stay in Old House - Very peaceful area at the end of a long gravel street. Lots of nature and wildlife. Getting to feed wallabies on the property with provided food was awesome. House had plenty of amenities and kitchen was well equipped. Interesting place with lots to look at and some cool art. Suhela is a lovely host. Ad pictures need updating to show current condition of house. Yard wasn’t as tidy as photos represented. House is quite musty due to age, not the best for anyone with allergies. No wifi and limited data signal, tv drops out sometimes.
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dunkley (10/5): Loved this little quirky cottage and Suhela - Wylah cottage is the cutest little house, artwork and vibes are adorable and comforting. Lots of wildlife around and opportunities to see them. The most relaxing place in the world Nil.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (8/5): A fantastic place- a holiday within a holiday. - Location was stunning. Quiet, coastal serenity but close to all attractions. Quirky character filled house, comfortable with all amenities! WiFi
- Janette (10/5): Absolutely delightful accomodation, full of quirk, character and homeliness, topped off by serenity and wonderful view. - Full of character, interest and so homely.
Wonderful collection of books.
Lovely linen on beds.
Lots of utensils in kitchen
Great view and so peaceful Liked everything.
Only thoughts of improvement would be that it got very hot and blinds or curtains at the window could be helpful on hot days.
- Nicole (9/5): The location is simply wonderful, so peaceful, at the end of a gravel road. - The location is simply wonderful, so peaceful, at the end of a gravel road. I wasn’t aware that the bathroom was outside of the main cottage.
- Phillipa (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Host Suhela is very kind and helpful. Very peaceful quiet location with lovely views over the bay.
- Monika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fraser (9/5): Lovely peaceful cottage with views - The house is at the end of an unsealed road and is very quiet and peaceful. It is a big space with reading nook, sun room etc. as well as the living and kitchen areas. It has lovely views across to the Neck of Bruny Island. It is full of character and the owner has filled the house with interesting books and ornaments. We could also bring our dog. :-) We loved the quirkiness of the property but the grounds could be tidied up a little (I know that the owner was working on this aspect)
- Robyn (10/5): We loved the peace and quiet, the books, the wallabies and the birds. It was a real retreat. - The location was exceptional - at the end of a road, very peaceful.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (10/5): Beautiful Views in a peaceful setting - Beautiful Views in a peaceful setting
- Ryan (7/5): Good -
- Colette (7/5): Enjoyed our stay but would not book again. - Location was great, private, nice view. Comfortable beds, great fire. Enjoyed watching the bird life.
Dog friendly and safe yard. While I understand the house is a work in progress, I live in a 1930's farm house so I know about reno's. I do think the house could be finished more before hiring out. Shower outside in laundry, cement in toilet area rough and unfinished.
Verandah area in places feels unsafe, steps to verandah awkward.
Lack of essentials supplied. Dead flies and insects on windows and dining room sitting.
Garden is overgrown and looks unkempt.
- Karyl (10/5): Peaceful and quiet haven - Absolutely fantastic cottage, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
The cottage is down the end of a dirt road, so very private and peaceful and the view is stunning. It is set up very well and has everything you need.
The host was lovely, very friendly and approachable. Nothing
- Maria (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyable, can see the care of the owner to make it enjoyable for guests. - A friendly approachable host respectful of our privacy.
All that was necessary was thought of and provided.
A lovely comfortable peaceful relaxing location and atmosphere. A nostalgic feeling. Dirt roads but that was common on the island and doable
- Dover (10/5): Exceptional - We love the tranquility and the nature. Cottage is very cosy and homely. We were blessed with a splendid aurora on our first night.
Suhera and Annie (the pet dog) were great host and we enjoyed our stay very much. Nothing to comment
- Ruth (7/5): Good -
- Nana (10/5): Cozy cottage on Bruny - Suhela is a great host as well as Annie. Wylah cottage is very unique and cozy. There was plenty of space and things to do in and around the property. The location is quiet and peaceful. My husband and I loved our stay and would love to come back when visiting Bruny. Nothing
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Edwin (8/5): Enjoyable. - This is a delightful little house, as advertised, tucked away and peaceful which it was. The house is old and quirky but great value for money. The kitchen contains everything to make your stay a pleasure. The piece de resistance being the wonderful fireplace on a cold blustery night. Very cosy.
If you have forgotten something eg sugar or olive oil or tin foil … never mind … it’s all there. So well done Suhela for providing a great house for your guests.
I must also add that Suhela was quick to respond to any questions we had. Being local to Tasmania, we would definitely recommend or return. Not much. 😀👍
- Cynthia (9/5): Very relaxing - Loved the atmosphere of this country house and the stunning view, the wild life and most of all the large open cosy fire.
- Jasmine (10/5): Quirky Beach Shack - Quirky Beach Shack is the perfect way to describe Waylah cottage. It was homely and welcoming, bonus because we were able to use the fire place inside. We will absolutely be back! The wildlife was un abundance and the views and sunrise were stunning! A wonderful friendly host with plenty of space for the dog to roam around. Nothing we didn't like! Looking forward to seeing how the renovations take place.
- Maria (9/5): Superb - The Fireplace, facilities, Wallabies, location and how serene it is.
Here's a rephrased version of the review:
This charming house offered a comfortable stay in a great location. We loved feeding the wallabies and cozying up by the fireplace. Suhela, the host, was incredibly friendly. The lack of Wi-Fi encouraged us to connect and truly relax. Overall, a perfect vacation getaway!
This version highlights the key positive aspects of the stay and uses more concise language. The short stay.
- Georgina (10/5): Magical stay - The cottage was a perfect for our family get together. The fire kept us warm and we enjoyed the peaceful location. Bruny is a magical place and we'll definitely be back to stay again!
- Wendy (10/5): Relaxing comfortable stay with family. - Beautiful cottage with amazing views. Great artwork and books.
- Amal (7/5): It was a quaint property with character. Views are lovely. - Location. Open fire. Small comfort touches.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Great little private getaway. Nice and peaceful
- Anthony (9/5): The perfect retreat - The house has a gorgeous view, and is a great place to use as a base to see the island, being quite central. It's a cosy and rustic, and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We'll be back!
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Mayumi (9/5): Memorable hideaway - We could feel at home, Location was great. View was perfect. Warm. A little bit old.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (8/5): great location and peaceful - location shower outside
- Joan (8/5): Very good - The bush animals in the backyard. The view from the front windows. The sun in the sunroom and sitting area. It was peaceful. The wood fire was a bonus. Art and pictures on all walls. Books and games. Needs the floor restumping. Bathroom/shower room outside.
- Laura (9/5): Very relaxing, the kids loved it and wanted to stay longer. - Fantastic location as it is very secluded and peaceful. We like the wallabies and pademelons, and the birds. It's a lovely old house with character, and great black cockatoo art. The kitchen stove takes a long time to heat up.
- Diane (8/5): Very good -
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - So much character and peaceful
- Julie (9/5): Quirky and Comfortable Cottage - Loved this quirky cottage. It was very homely and comfortable. The bedrooms were roomy, the kitchen was well equipped, the sunroom overlooking Simpsons Bay was the highlight. Wonderful to sit and watch the ever-changing weather and the abundant birdlife. It was a good location for walking and tourist activities in Adventure Bay. Had a great six days bushwalking throughout the island.
- Hendryk (10/5): Exceptional - Verandah and sun room were great with amazing views.
- Hammersley (9/5): Quaint little beauty - Beautiful location, a quaint little cottage that served all our needs and wants. The beds and bedding were sooo comfortable.
Was a good spot to base ourselves to get around the island, and come back to relax with a wine and plater of local bread and chesses Would be good to have some hand towels for drying hands.
There was nothing else not to like about this little gem
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation is large, spacious and it felt remote/private. The different sitting areas inside and areas outside, covered and uncovered, made it comfortable for 4 adults and one child to hang out there on our rainy day. There are lovely plants, paintings and interesting/fitting ornaments. There are many books and games too. The home is rustic so as noted in the host information provided, if you want modern and everything to sparkle this is not the place for you. Fitting with the eclectic house there is an array of cooking utensils/crockery but be prepared for the possibility that you might not find the item you would ideally like. Nothing, we loved our stay.
- Louise (8/5): Great place to get away from it all - Perfect spot to get away from it all. Comfy beds. Fireplace. Animals around. Gàmes to play
Not far from Adventure Bay. Tastefully retro
- Tom (7/5): Good - Great location, lots of lovely wildlife nearby (saw a white wallaby a few minutes away), plenty of character to the property. As a holiday-house, it feels a bit like a work-in-progress. We knew we were booking a rustic property, but it wasn’t as clean as we would expect with that in mind. Partially eaten, old cheese had been left in the fridge, and our toddler found a dusty make up product under the sofa. Together with the dead flies and baby scorpions emerging from the ceiling, it impacted how comfortable we felt throughout our four night stay.
- Lorraine (9/5): Fabulous location in nature with sea views - Peaceful and comfortable place to spend 3 nights on the island.
Highly recommend this beautiful beach house.
Loved everything!
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was interesting and quirky but felt like home immediately. The sun room was the perfect spot spend an afternoon relaxing and enjoying the magnificent view.
- Geraldine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Damien (10/5): Exceptional - The location was central to Bruny Island and lovely. The house was welcoming and the beds comfy. We particularly enjoyed the peace and access to nature. The birds were fantastic!
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - Great little place, perfect for what we were after with the added bonus of being pet friendly. Loved the evenings in front of the fireplace
- Anonymous (10/5): Just the best - The location, the authenticity & the quirkiness of the shack
- Kerryn (10/5): A wonderful escape in a cozy and comfortable place, relaxing just to spend time there surrounded by nature, books and th - We loved the cosy, comfortable cottage and very special location. The owner was most welcoming and responsive. A great location from which to explore the island and bring back local produce to enjoy. The sunroom was our favourite space!
- Wells (10/5): Exceptional - The shack art Leaving.
