Guest Reviews
- Robinson (4/5): Needs to be repaired before anyone else stays. - Comfortable house, short walk to beach What was obviously once a well-maintained, quality holiday rental has aged poorly and is in need of a good fix-up and clean. Furniture was fine, sheets and towels were clean. The kitchen cupboards were absolutely full of dirty pots and pans and cooking implements collected over the years. There were many cockroaches spotted over our stay.
There was water damage from a leak on the back porch. Worst of all is the dilapidated car port. Absolutely unsafe and irresponsible to allow the property to continue being rented when it is about to collapse. The supporting pillars were rotted at the base and some collapsed so that the carport roof, which is attached to the house, is on a lean.
Unfortunately one set of neighbours were highly unpleasant, yelling in foul, violent language.
- Poppy (9/5): Relaxing, serene and beachy vibes - The house was cozy, clean and accessible. Felt like home. The neighbor behind the property. Unfortunately my 11 yo twins got scolded and threatened as one of their toys landed on his property. He needs a factory reset for his behavior and should’ve discussed it with me so I could apologize for their unintentional action. It’s unfortunate this was the only let down of our stay… He’s disgruntled and I’m certain he’s had jack of the tenants trying to have a good time on this property. I’m still returning to stay here I loved it!!!! 🥰
- David (8/5): Callala Beach is a fantastic place. Will stay again - Location Small gate opening for large vehicles
Air Cond in main lounge area didn’t work
- susan (10/5): Wonderful memorable stay. - Close to the beach. Area was lovely very quiet. The owners ensured nothing was missed to make it an enjoyable stay. House could do with a little extra care.
- Jess (10/5): -
- Sujan (7/5): Good -
- Archit (9/5): Great time to spend with family and friends but internet wasn’t working so it was bit of lost opportunity to watch movie - Great location Internet was not working
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Karin (8/5): A true beach house with a real maritime feel - Excellent location close to to the beach Mats under hammocks, please!
- Anas (10/5): Our home away from home... - The house exceeded our expectations. Felt like our own home with everything available. Staff were very nice and allowed us to stay over our checkout time.
- Joanne (5/5): Promising but needs work - The back garden was lovely - great space for our dog and good seating area.
Ensuite was modern with great shower. We couldn't access the property as the key system works in reverse - which we didn't know. When we rang for assistance, all the staff were in an online meeting and unavailable to take our call. My husband ended up having to drive to two locations until he found a staff member who helped us.
The gate on the drive way is hanging off its hinges and made driving in and out tricky.
Our general issue with this property is that it states it is award winning but on arrival you realise these were given 8-10 years ago. The property needs updating. It lacked character and didn't feel warm or welcoming. Perhaps a rug in the living room or a coffee table rather than just a lounge shoved against the wall. Art on the walls? It felt empty and unloved and extremely basic in decor. There is still no full length mirror in this property despite other reviews mentioning this in the past.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (5/5): Passable -
- Jennica (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Mable (9/5): A good choice for your beach stay - Convenient location, just a few minutes walk to Callala Beach which is beautiful and filled with white sand. Overall good, comfortable and clean. The coffee machine made my day 😎
- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Jorgi (7/5): Stay was very enjoyable. - Very clean and equipped with all necessary appliances and good working bbq. Nil
- G_rant (10/5): Great family retreat - All of it, whole experience was wonderful! Great house, good facilities. Great location. Nothing to not like!!
- Lesley (9/5): A charming well renovated beach cottage. Fenced secure yard ideal for pups. - The location was ideal, just a short walk to the beach. The beach house is charming and fresh with a well-equipped kitchen. I loved the barista coffee machine (byo beans). The main bedroom bed was very comfy. The hosts were polite, professional and prompt in responding to several queries I had. Very dog friendly with perfectly secure back yard, plus a small screened front porch so our dog didn't run out when the front door was open.
- Geraldine (10/5): Exceptional - fire place
- Deanne (10/5): Fantastic dog friendly holiday home. -
- Revti (7/5): Good - Main front door deadlock knob was broken and we couldn’t open the door despite the code. It was really panicking until we discovered the second door via the car port.
Ensuite shower keeps on falling while showering
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good - This property does what it says on the tin, it is pet friendly and has a fireplace, although our stay was in winter (hence the need for a fire) and I would suggest this would be a better house for summer as it was comfortable but not really cosy. It was clean and had everything we needed as a family of five with older children. Callala Beach itself is gorgeous, however, there aren't really cafes and restaurants nearby so you have to get in the car for those or bring everything with you. There is a small supermarket not too far away. The house has a coffee machine and teapot. The property is managed by a management company and while I booked through booking.com there was a layer of additional admin that I could have lived without by doing it this way. I'm still not 100% sure I wasn't hit with extra fees and will have to go back to investigate as I was asked to transfer funds separately to the usual booking.com procedure.
- Paula (9/5): Excellent escape - Great yard for our dog, house had everything we needed Frying pans need to be replaced
