Guest Reviews
- Nicola (7/5): Good base for exploring Fleurieu Peninsula - Spacious and clean. Local café the Beach House is definitely recommended Disappointed not to have wifi at this price and location.
- kevin (10/5): Fantastic. Will return. - this property met all our requirements Just maybe security chains on doors.
- Patricia (9/5): -
- Val (10/5): - Ver comfortable and clean. Everything needed was there. Very quiet. Easy to check in and out. Would not hesitate to recommend a stay here. Nothing to not like
- Peter (8/5): - Location. Plenty of room and plenty of kitchen equipment. It was cosy. Excellent for a short stay. No WiFi.
- Patricia (8/5): A great place for a weekend break. - A very peaceful location, very close to the beach.
Good value for money.
Great spa bath.
The kitchen was well equiped. Nothing!
- Peter (7/5): Comfortable and reasonably priced - Old fashioned
- Andrew (9/5): Cosy clean and a great location - Fantastic location, very clean with all you need. Looking forward to our next stay. No wifi, but that’s probably a good thing!
- Milena (8/5): Overall a good place for a short stay plus clean and tidy - Location, cleanliness, quiet, looked pretty, had split system air conditioning in the open plan lounge/dining area. 1. Very dated furniture and not comfortable for seating. The floral lounge has an old smell and not comfortable.
2. The two individual lounge chairs looked nice but had wooden arms and generally not comfortable for an evening inside watching TV.
3. The property didn’t have WIFI.
4. The bedrooms don’t have air conditioning and could be very hot in the summer months, there’s only floor standing fans.
- Roger (10/5): Lovely get away - Beautiful cottage. Lovely location.
- Michelle (10/5): - Quiet place, great location.
- Elaine (10/5): - Nothing to winge about All good. Just some yellow tulips that need to be deodorised or thrown out. Have had their life. Syinky.
But no biggy.
- Catherine (9/5): - Nice and quiet,. Very dated furnishings, but still comfortable. The washing machine was very handy. Perfect location
- Leslie (9/5): Comfortable cottage in a good location - Comfortable cottage in a quiet area but close to the beachfront. The cottage had just about everything we needed and we had a relaxing stay. All good.
- Ben (10/5): -
- Jenny (10/5): Had a wonderful holiday exploring the local area - Lovely cottage extremely comfortable lovely well kept gardens Nothing very happy
- alan (9/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay and can recommend the accommodation. - The cottage was neat and clean and offers good privacy. It is in a great location too. We forgot to check if the accommodation has Wi-Fi and it turns out it does not. It isn't a deal breaker but is always nice to have.
- Henman (9/5): -
- Kara (5/5): - It was quiet and private Very old furniture
- jeff (10/5): - Great accommodation close to waterfront Parking difficult when both villas occupied
- Sue (9/5): - The cottage was very welcoming. The bed was so comfy and generally it was very well equipped and very clean. A lovely little cottage close to the beach and amenities. Everything was very easy and great value. Would have been handy to have had a couple of face cloths included with towels. Otherwise it was very well equipped.
- Kathy (9/5): Great, quiet place to stay near Victor Harbour. - We had a lovely, two night stay. The property is as advertised and it’s in a quiet location. Lots of attention to detail, with an older decorative style, has been made. Communication for check-in was excellent. Although it was not listed as being provided, we missed having wi-fi.
- Chris (9/5): - Everything you need just bring your food Dvd not working
- Ben (10/5): Cosy ,rejuvenating and very private . Could be enjoyed by a family or quick getaway for a couple . Would likely return i - Very close to beach, quiet homely cottage. Has all amenities, cooking facilities including pots and pans to be able to eat in. Very relaxing For us ,everything was perfectly suited to our needs.
- Sara (10/5): -
- Georgina (9/5): -
- Craig (9/5): Excellent - Parking was tight
- Bill (9/5): - Location was fantastic, very roomy and comfortable. Quality of the cottage was amazing. Close to everything. The parking for the front cottage needs to be upgraded. Medium to large cars have trouble getting in and out of the carport.
- Piers (7/5): -
- Joshua (9/5): - TV is very outdated. Would be worth investing in a cheap smart TV in this day and age.
- alan (10/5): exceptional accom,5min walk from beach,10min drive from town.goolwa not far away so well placed in e - out of 15 accommodations this one was number one for everything.superb in every way
shame about the november wet windy and cold weather but NOT the fault of the hostess.
brilliant in every way
would stay again would recommend as exceptional. and my wife LOVED it
happy wife,happy life nothing
- Sandra (9/5): Very good. - We could not find instructions on usig the DVD/VHS player.
- Susan (10/5): We had a lovely, relaxed stay here whilst also exploring the beautiful surroundings. - Situated in a quiet area not far from Victoria Harbour. Easy few minute walk to shop and bay.Great place for a relaxed holiday. Easy access with well, appointed kitchen. All good.
- Joan (9/5): We had a lovely time and appreciated the compact setup of the home, quite adequate. - The house had everything we needed It would be good to have bedlights that can be switched on easily. nearly impossible to get our hand under the shade. The bed in the front room is very soft and saggy. It probably needs a timber base.
- sutherland (8/5): -
- Tony (10/5): Had a lovely weekend and sampled all that the south had to offer, we’ll be back. - It was quaint and elegant with a homey feel that made us comfortable from the moment we walked in the door. There was nothing that wasn’t to like. Encounter bay is a place to recharge the batteries and having a great pizza place 5 minutes walk from the front door was a real winner!
- Shari (10/5): -
- Chantelle (8/5): -
- Nerissa (8/5): Excellent apart from those 2 things above. Paid extra to find a place with a spa but wasn’t as good as we’d have liked. - A lovely clean hideaway. Internet access or a set top box would be great for alternatives to regular tv channels:
like Netflix/spotify would have been great to access through the tv. Also the spa was wonderful but the water was tepid rather than really hot (and we hadn’t used any hot water that day prior to using the spa): maybe the water cools as the day progresses?
- Katie (8/5): - Loved the location. One street over from the beach. Loved that it was totally self contained. Very well fitted out kitchen. Had everything. Beautiful garden. Lounge felt bit uncomfortable due to being a sofa bed. Bed bit softer than would like (but that is personal preference)
- Chris (9/5): -
- Kerrie (10/5): A great place to stay at Encounter Bay. - Located in a quiet street but close to the bay esplanade, the cottage was spacious, clean and with thoughtful inclusions…especially the decanter of port! Driveway and garage access was a little tight but manageable.
- Roger (10/5): Very enjoyable break at a delightful cottage. - Such a well presented and comfortable cottage. It had everything we needed for our short 4 night stay.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious yet cozy and comfortable. Perfect for a winter getaway.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - There was no internet.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (9/5): A peaceful and comfortable haven for adults to retreat to after a local event or gathering. - Needed somewhere close to where the rest of the family was staying in the area of the Yilkie Store, with two seperate bedrooms for adults, and this was a great choice. Peaceful surroundings, parking on site, very good beds and shower, and good quality linen, crockery and appliances. Wifi would have been a bonus. Also some instructions in the handbook about checkout time and rubbish bins. But these are small quibbles - the place has everything you need for very comfortable stay.
- Jenni (8/5): Very good - The cottage is lovely and clean. Located in a quiet area, one street from the beach. The bed is comfortable and warm. Good shower and heating worked well. It was quiet and peaceful, just what we needed to relax for a few days. The front door lock and door was difficult to open when we arrived so we used the back door to come and go. The carport would be a tight fit for a large car.
- Anthea (8/5): Very good -
- Linchi (9/5): Superb -
- Shuo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicki (8/5): Very good -
- Konstanze (7/5): Well equipped and nice accommodation - Big, very clean and well maintained. Big bathroom with spa bath and shower, big kitchen with plenty equipment, big fridge/freezer,washing machine, laundry airer....
Quiet location No wifi
One bedroom had a floor fan but not the other.
The bedroom with the 2 single beds is a bit old style decor/furniture as is the living room
No outdoor space where you can sit and relax and enjoy a view. There is a small table and cafe style chairs at the back but it's not really inviting
- Catherine (9/5): Relaxing stay, clean and well-equipped - Cute cottage in a nice residential area just one street back from the beach (5 minutes walk or less), very well-equipped and provisioned. Having folding chairs provided to take to the beach was a nice touch. On our first evening, sitting out on the front porch, we had a lovely display of bird life in the garden. Sitting area at back was private and quiet. Nearby shop/cafe was really friendly and great for a coffee with a sea view. Very relaxing stay. The outdoor table is small, it would have been great to have a larger table to serve meals outdoors - just a folding picnic table would be fine.
- Kaylie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bronwyn (10/5): Very comfortable cottage - The cottage was very clean and everything you need is provided. Excellent!
- Brendan (9/5): Superb - Quiet cottage, excellent location, relaxing place to stay. Clean, everything we needed.
- Teubes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (8/5): Very good - Peaceful and tastefully furnished Roadworks. Not next time!9
- Tania (8/5): Lovely relaxing stay in Encounter Hideaway Cottage - Lovely cosy cottage with pretty garden in great location close to beach. Nice clean kitchen & bathroom, shower had good water pressure & beds were comfy. We had a very relaxing stay & would recommend. We were in Bud Cottage which was the front property so the current roadworks in the street were a bit noisy early in mornings & throughout the day if we were at home but otherwise no issues.
- Alison (8/5): Quiet cottage, close & easy walk to the bay - Fantastic location, easy to park, carport, friendly communication, comfortable, relaxing.
- Misty (8/5): Very good - Lovely place great location really enjoyed our stay
- Tamara (9/5): Cute, comfortable and spacious cottage - Loved the board game and the beach chairs were super handy. Shower was mouldy.
- Jenny (8/5): Very good - Location excellent and very close to a great Pizza/ Indian restaurant. Recommend visiting Whalers Seaside Dining too at the Bluff, which was nearby. The property was lovely, clean and such a lovely tough with the welcome biscuits and fortified wine. Very clean and cosy. Super quiet too. A coffee machine would have been nice (we brought our own) and wifi. I brought a mobile broadband which did not work as both 4G and 5G was very weak. We travelled with family who had come over from overseas, and my 11 year old daughter, so it was not ideal not to have any internet.
- Percefoni (8/5): Very good - location Coffee machine (pod) would have been nice and need another couch rather than 2 chairs especially for 4 adults sharing the accommodation
- Susan (10/5): A Gem! - Beautiful self-contained cottage in a lovely setting that was peaceful & tranquil, but only a road away from the beach NIL
- Terri (8/5): Very good - The quiet location, lovely accommodation
- Jan (8/5): Very good -
- Geoffrey (9/5): Very comfortable cottage with good facilities - Nice, quiet location on suburban street. Not far to drive to Victor Harbour or supermarkets. Good kitchen facilities and washing machine. Great base for visiting the local area and then able to self cater and relax.
- Quentin (7/5): Good -
- Kaylie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tayla (10/5): Exceptional - It's such a beautiful place to stay, fantastic location. Beautiful and clean. It's great for families to stay.
- Miller (10/5): Comfortable little cottages - The cottage was clean, comfortable, well-stocked and nicely situated. It was a bit of a tight fit for our car (fairly long and wide sedan) but we managed.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Clean, tidy and quiet - The property was very clean, tidy and good facilities. It was in a quiet location and handy for the beach. No Wifi but we knew that anyway. It’s quite a walk from Victor Harbour, but again we knew that. The owner was very good to deal with. Nothing not to like
- Jan (8/5): Comfortable, clean, well located, good value house - Great location set back a block from the seafront, so out of the wind. Very close to the small parade of shops / cafes and easy to walk along the esplanade and enjoy the beautiful views. Comfortable house with well equipped kitchen and good sized bedrooms / bathroom / living. All was great!
- Jessie (10/5): A fantastic and comfortable stay! - The cottage was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the location and the gardens. There was nothing we didn’t enjoy.
- Jeff (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (9/5): V nice. Would stay again - Super clean.
Great location No wifi
- Jessie (9/5): It was a lovely experience and I would definitely stay again - The host was very easy to contact when I did not have the code for the lock box. The cottage was very cosy, very clean and so close to the beach! The gardens were lovely & it was a beautiful spot.
- John (9/5): A lovely place to spend some relaxing time away from home. - It was close to the sea, quiet, had all that we required.would hire it again with no hesitation. The floral arrangement which I made some modifications to make it look so much better at no cost to me.
- Tessa (8/5): Very good - Fully equipped kitchen, games and dvds to entertain the kids. Very tidy and clean
Great location Beds were very uncomfortable
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fatima (7/5): Good - Calm , cosy close to beach with all amenities they provide. Only reason I had to change my schedule and left early because this beautiful place doesn't accommodate visitors with Internet.
- Marlene (10/5): Exceptional - Secluded, quiet, very clean and excellent facilities. Didn't really have a dislike
- Marlea53 (9/5): Superb - Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Appreciated the kitchen supplies and having a washing machine was terrific. Very quiet, comfortable and cosy. Walking distance to ocean and short drive to shops. Home away from home. Nothing

- Eckert (8/5): Very good -
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carmel (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location, the facilities were excellent and the port was delicious.
- Angela (9/5): Superb - Very quiet, comfortable and warm (We were there in winter). Very well set up. A short walk to the bayside. No view of the ocean but a lovely garden view.
- Houston (10/5): Beautiful property - The cottage was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Nothing
- Hogan (8/5): Very good - No breakfast provided, but that was not part of the offering, so no problems. Loved the quiet peaceful location. no provision of Wifi was very annoying.
