Guest Reviews
- Annabel (8/5): - Best view and nature around Bit simple decoration, could use some more
- Theresa (10/5): Absolutely amazing. - Wow this cabin was so beautiful. The view was amazing and the wild life was fantastic came right to the door my daughter even managed to pat one. She was so happy. Beds were so comfortable and even though we didn’t use any of the stuff in the cupboard lollies and stuff but that was great to have it there. We will definitely stay there again. Just wish we had more time days to stay. We couldn’t get the microwave to work as an oven. So cooking what we took for tea was a bit difficult. But not a big deal we just used the frying pan instead.
- Karen (8/5): Beautiful view, very quiet and peaceful feeling. - The view was beautiful. There was food available for the wallabies and pademelon that came right onto our porch. It was comfortable with plenty of room for my friend and I. It felt rural while being fairly close to things. The area was beautiful so I knew it may be harder to get to. It was as I expected, a little bumpy, but largely fine. But I can imagine if it’s a surprise to people they may be unhappy.
- Jamila (10/5): - Everything, the location, the views, the wildlife, the quiet.
The kids loved having the wallabies right at the front door and being able to feed them was a bonus.
- Monica (8/5): -
- D and L Sandrone (9/5): - Accommodation, views and wallabies

- Zoreen (10/5): Feeling like an artist. - The property is situated in a great location. Overlooking Hobart. Isolated.
- Ben (10/5): - Location is so beautiful, I have stayed in some great places, but the views from this place is next level. Also you have everything you need.
- Francesca (10/5): What a view! Perfect for a family stay near Hobart without the fuss of staying in the CBD. -
- Rachel (9/5): -
- Kim (10/5): - Beautiful views and close to the airport and Hobart. Comfy and well thought out accommodation
- Nicole (8/5): Spectacular views, bush & wildlife - house maintained & upkeep required - The views, bushland & wildlife are amazing!! So beautiful to have such a 180 degree view of Hobart & surrounds.....the wallabies come up to your door asking to be fed pls!! So cute, still skittish, but worth the experience!! ($3 bag of wallaby pellets lasted awhile). The 2-bed house is quite large, roomy & bathroom very large. Very comfortable place to stay. Tassy at Christmas showed its four season/day & delighted to view these changes thru the large windows & deck! Well worth visiting & chilling.
It seems a fair way out, but not too far if you definitely need stuff or do touristy stuff - good petrol station on the way up too. General maintenance & upkeep to be updated especially b4 the person/s arrive......even though it was Christmas eve (not wanting to disrupt the owners personal time too) - I had to, so some simply facilities were usable & able to enjoy a nice shower at least!! The owners were great & fixed what could be done that night!! But after just wanting to chill & enjoy the beauty of the bush & the views, it was not what expected.
Would go again but the house upkeep & maintenance is to be done b4 person/s arrival please!!

- Tom (9/5): Highly recommend this venue - Awesome place to stay, excellent value for money and amazing views. If I'm going to mention anything, shower water could be hotter and would have loved an oven, but that's just me. Still will keep it in mind for future visits.
- Chebet (1/5): Didn’t happen - I didn’t get there. It was hard to find the property and upon arrival according to maps, a lady said we better get back in the taxi because our destination was further uphill and the taxi wasn’t willing to drive there..It looked like a mining hall😢Not as appealing as it looks online unfortunately!

- Shane (8/5): Very nice and quite, incredible view and not to far away from shops ect. - The view was incredible, beds were very comfortable, facilities were good and clean, the animals were very friendly. Used spread jars in pantry, no bedside tables, no doors on cupboards in bedrooms and no furniture for the deck to sit outside, no instructions for washer or dryer.
- Melissa (7/5): Good - Wonderful house and amazing views
- Catherine (8/5): Perfect location, comfortable and budget friendly - Location was fantastic and the cabin was very comfortable
- Melissa (5/5): Passable - View and friendly wildlife visitors Scary driveway road
The cabin we stayed in isn’t fully completed
- Barbara (8/5): Very nice quiet spot ,wildlife was amazing! - The location was amazing. We had booked for 4 people and there was only a very small lounge, probably suitable for 2. The road in was sealed in some parts but the remainder was dirt and full of holes, making it an uncomfortable and bumpy journey. Its good our additional traveller's had to cut their trip short as it would have been unbearable for one of them.
- Felicity (9/5): Would definitely be staying again - It was easy to collect the keys. It was so nice and quite great views.
Wonderful watching the kangaroos and joey's eating in front of the cabin. Nothing
- Rosalyn (9/5): Fantastic rural escape so close to the city. - Great breakfast provisions which were an additional cost but good value. Recommend to pre-order these as the drive to the house is not one you would repeat in the dark to get food for fear of animals on the dirt road.
Amazing views and heaps of wallabies and bird life. Nothing
- Hirawati (10/5): A superb little house in the hills with magnificent view. - About 20 minutes from Hobart Airport, the Kangaroo House of Mount Rumney Escapes is a secluded wonderful hideout with a lovely view of Hobart. We like the comfy beds, the complete kitchen, the very clean bathroom, and the wallabies and echidna immediately outside. The very kind host was reachable even late at night. Bring your own food or get ingredients from two nearby villages (better not at night as nocturnal animals may walk slowly on the road)
- Gabi (9/5): Superb - n/a n/a
- Aaron (10/5): Mount Rumney Escapes - A great family holiday excape - The sea view is spectacular and the holiday house has everything that you need to make it comfortable and convenient. It really does feel like an escape from the busy city when you stay here. Just be aware that the road is a dirt road on the property, and some of the road is unsealed as you approach the property, so drive carefully.
- Chrisandra (10/5): Beautiful peaceful location - Amazing location, was greeted by sheep in the driveway, so peaceful and relaxing, my son was plane watching on the deck when a couple of wallabies came bouncing up behind him, was a quick one night stay for us with later check in and early check out due to commitments will definitely be back to enjoy the property properly.
- Rowie (5/5): No doubt has an amazing view but needs improvement for a much comfortable stay - The view was amazing and we love that there were a lot of wildlife in the area. The house, rooms and bathroom was decent size. We love watching the sunrise from the dining area. It has a good working heater. There was only one pan and a small sauce pot. I requested for a bigger pot and the host was aware that it needed replacement and the only reply I got was they were in the process of replacing them. We stayed for 12 nights and we never got the pot during our stay. Poor communication with the host especially during a blackout. We tried calling multiple times and sent an email. We didn't get a call back and no email response as well. We were out the whole day and was worried to coming back with no electricity as it's freezing and there is no water as well when there's no electricity. Luckily power was back when we got back. We were also only given 3 dishwashing tablet. I requested for additional and was told that the cleaner will bring some but we didn't get any. I followed up twice and didn't get any response .We also had to buy hand soaps for the kitchen and bathroom as they weren't provided. We also bought dish drying rack and bin liners. Also only 2 rolls of toilet paper were given so we had to buy them as well. The pillows were uncomfortable. The bed in the other room was uncomfortable but good thing that there was another bedroom and the bed was decent there so we slept okay.
- James (8/5): A great stay if you're prepared for the access road. - The location was excellent - fantastic views, and very quiet, ideal for a getaway in solitude. Visiting wildlife was very cute. Plenty of room for a couple. You paid for the isolation with difficult access. Most of the road off the tarmac, probably 2 kms, is not gravel, but bare earth. Luckily we had fantastic weather with no rain for 4 days. In heavy rain I can see this being treacherous. 4x4 would give you peace of mind, but I imagine a lot of visitors hire smaller cars. A good gravel base would solve this problem, no doubt.
- Danielle (10/5): Incredible location and facilities. - Beautiful location, not far from town but far enough to be out in the beautiful bush. Clean and comfortable accommodation with everything you need. Wildlife in abundance.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - The view was absolutely magnificent
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Amazing views, lovely to have wildlife come to your door. Beautiful and peaceful, would definitely stay again! Road up to house is steep, but this is made clear on booking. Completely doable but might be a bit hairy if it was wet
- Desiree (9/5): Superb -
- Danny (10/5): Beautiful clean stay with everything you could want and a killer view! The greeting from the sheep and goats was just ic - Beautiful view, quiet, unique experience, not too far out of the way, everything you could want Nothing at all. The board game in the closet is missing all the pieces needed to play the game but that is less of a complaint and more bringing it to your awareness.
- Tasman (10/5): It was a delightful surprise. We enjoyed watching the wallabies grazing around our little abode and -
- Jamie (8/5): Very good -
- Di (10/5): Home away from home, with exceptional view - Everything Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Amazing Place to Stay - It was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Lots of wildlife and the view was amazing. Close to Hobart without the rush of a major city. Amazing Didn't get to stay long enough.
- Sanjay (10/5): Had a very comfortable stay. Will stay here again if I ever visit Hobart again. - Stayed in unit 5 for two nights. Great location on the top of Mt Rumney with view of Tiger Head Bay.
- Yukiko (10/5): Exceptional - The view was spectacular. Saw lots of wallabies. Great value for money. Nothing
- Violet29 (10/5): Perfect place to stay near the airport - The view was fantastic. We caught pademelons, rabbits and a goat passing by. It was a very comfortable place to stay The washing was moist with musty smell so I didn't dare to use it as much as I would like to
- Lou (10/5): Exceptional - Secluded and value for money. The driveway was a bit tricky in the wet.
- Kurt (9/5): Superb - The owners helped us out a number of times with our trip. We were travelling with two mountain bikes and the owners helped store our bike boxes for our return flight.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - Great view from the house (landscape and wallabies), very comfortable and excellent location close to the airport The gravel road to get to the house (can be stressful with a small car)
- Shakira (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ajaykumar (9/5): it was good experience - location n/a
- David (9/5): We lived on Mt Rumney for 15 years, and it was great to return to familiar surroundings. we l - Fantastic location with incredible views. The road needs a bit of work.
- Sonia (8/5): Very good -
- Riley (10/5): very pleasant - lovely property, excellent views both lights in the bedrooms bright at night when sleeping
- Hayley (10/5): Breath taking. - We loved the location. Very serene with epic views and the sunrises are breathtaking. The house is spacious and well designed. The beds are super comfy and the smart TV allows easy to Netflix and YouTube. For this price you can't really fault it. It doesnt have an oven but knowing this allows you to source meals made from stove top or microwave.
- Cj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jillian (5/5): Passable - The view The road to the accommodation was not mentioned that it was not suitable for a small vehicle. It was a 4 wheel drive.
The soap and shampoo from the last guests was still in the soap holder.
We needed accommodation near Cambridge the add said 5.9kms it was more like 15ks
We left early as I didn't want to travel in the area after dark.
- Marcus (8/5): Very good -
- Isabel (10/5): Would definitely recommend! - Very clean and the view was beautiful!
- Prashant (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sean (10/5): Mt. Rumney escapes are perfect getaways for short or long term stays. - The views are epic. Quiet homes, great location, fantastic friendly hosts. You need to advertise your views more on social media! No issues at all
- Harshal (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): awesome place to stay, kids loved the animals and the location - Great location between Hobart and the Hobart airport. lovely views and a quiet area
- Jeffrey (9/5): Lovely view and kangaroos. - The view was amazing and we saw so many wallabies (kangaroos?) from the deck. It would be best to have everything you need for the night prior to arrival. It was a bit of a drive up the mountain and once we arrived we didn’t want to return to town for food or groceries.
- Darryl (10/5): it was peaceful and relaxing it was just what we wanted and needed. - everything it was just great and what we were looking for.
