Alex (6/5): It's not a cottage but an apartment in a historical house. - A nice classical Rio de Janeiro neighborhood. The gorgeous view from the balcony. The restaurant across the balcony and the bigger one across the street offer awesome food and drinks. The apartment has the fridge, the stoves, and all cookware. The Praia do Flamengo beach near-by. It's not a cottage. There is no land attached to it. It's an apartment on a 2nd floor of a historical house. The other apartment which takes the first floor, the owner rents out to other people. The stairs to the 2nd floor of where the apartment is, are very steep. So you will carry all your luggage up and down on those. There are 2 balcony doors in the lobby and by the bathroom. The balcony doors by the bathroom don't stay closed up when it is a wind. They open up letting the gust of the heat inside. The balcony has few nail tops popped up. If you go to the balcony barefoot and not careful, you can rip off your feet. It can be serious so how you would be walking sightseeing during your stay? And the last one is the bed I had was having only 1 sheet and a blanket. So should I lay on a sheet and use the cover? but it's hot. Or should I lie on the matrass cover? Either way I think it needs to be 2 sheets. One you can lie on and one you can use for cover if it's hot for the blanket. A kitchen fan is not working. Although the location is great, but the house is on the top of the very steep hill from the Gloria subway station. You can easily walk down which is 20 mins walk to a closest subway station or a 30" walk to the beach. But to get to the house from the subway you either would need to climb up or to hire a cab. There is bus stop by the house with the busses #6 and 7 but those are going in parallel direction to the coastline towards downtown rather than to the any of the subway stations close-by (Gloria or Catete). Same for the trams.
