The warm and friendly staff, the excellent restaurants, the beautiful gardens and well appointed and comfortable rooms make for a great stay. The attention to detail in the design of the rooms and property overall, and the relaxed, calm and peaceful atmosphere all combine to deliver a perfect home away from home.

End to end it was an incredible stay and we could not fault anything - service, qulaity of breakfast and dinner as well as the wonderful rooms and linen!
• Sandy313R (10/5): Beautiful Gardens & Stay in Johannesburg - We could have stayed in our beautiful room and deck made private by extensive surrounding gardens all day except for so much to see in Johannesburg. The smell of the star jasmine was wonderful as we walked the paths to the dining room for breakfast. Attentive and friendly staff. We didn’t realize the associated restaurant “The Pot Luck Club” would be such a great experience and wish we’d discovered it prior to the last night of our stay.

Great food both for breakfast and lunch. Did not try dinner unfortunately. Perfect place for a few days stay in Johannesburg before flying up to Kruger.
• andrewbX6562OW (10/5): Great hotel - cannot wait to return - I had a superb stay at The Peech. I need somewhere to do a few days of remote work in Joburg, and as a base to see old university friends. The room was lovely, with double aspect doors you could leave open to enjoy the trees and weather, and had a comfortable desk and strong and stable WiFi. There are two restaurants; one only for hotel guests, which is relaxed and charming, and the other being the Pot Luck Club, which is a fancier affair. Both serve excellent food. The hotel gives you vouchers for the large gym next door which is very helpful. The location is excellent, and you can uber to Rosebank etc very quickly.
• Worldbutterfly (10/5): Lovely and Welcoming Johannesburg Oasis - The Peech Hotel was the perfect place to base our two days in Johannesburg and the start of our South Africa trip! We were so relieved to arrive after a long-haul flight, be welcomed with a splash of sherry and led to our lovely room. The amenities were spot-on, the water pressure was great in the shower, and when we woke up the next morning and pulled back the shades, the huge windows let in the sun and views of the green garden. It was nice to be a bit removed from the density of the city without sacrificing much, if any, of the proximity. Getting an Uber was easy (Apartheid Museum, the shops/lunch at 44 Stanley and walking tour of Soweto highly recommended). Every staff member we met was excellent: warm, professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

• natalian369 (10/5): MUST STAY - The Peech Hotel was meant to be a pit stop before continuing on our African Safari and it completely blew away our expectations. From the second you walk in, the staff is so friendly and welcoming. Peter the security guard was awesome and walked us from the hotel to the gym entrance which is next door. The grounds are cozy and intentional, the rooms are beautiful , every detail is thought out. The food at the hotel is DELICIOUS, and our server Gabriel was spectacular. If you are going to Joburg, the Peech is a MUST.

• DARKANGEL652 (8/5): Relaxing boutique gem - A relaxing, lovely boutique hotel in a safe J'burg neighbourhood. Rooms are massive, bed super comfy. Two very small outdoor pools were extremely cold. Service friendly and diligent, despite two mornings in a row not getting requested mornings wake up calls. Breakfast best we had out of all South Africa hotels, including the much lauded Cape Town Mount Nelson
• OR-family-travel (2/5): Stay somewhere else, coldly impersonal. Noisy metal stairs to most rooms. Decor had nothing to do with Africa. - I would never recommend anyone stay here. No attractions within walking distance, cold impersonal decor and furniture. Expensive restaurant and drinks. The topper was I had a mass of tiny bug bites on my arm and a tour guide thinks it was bed bugs. 🤮

• EleanorCC (10/5): What a Peach - From the moment we arrived, to the minute we left, we were treated like honoured guests. The wonderful staff really could not have done more to make us feel welcome. In addition to the exceptional service, we had the most wonderful meals. The food quality was excellent, the presentation beautiful and the flavours sublime. The grounds are delightful and beautifully maintained. The rooms are fabulous, and due to the excellent design, despite the heat, we didn't need to put the aircon on once. I only wish I could have stayed longer and very much hope to return one day.

The staff at the hotel were lovely, specially Buhle who walked me to the gym and had a nice chat with me. The food is delicious. We did the set menu for dinner which was quite an experience, it was beautiful.
• juliepF69CH (10/5): The Peech … just peachy - Absolutely wonderful oasis in JoBurg, literally from the moment we arrived until the moment we left ALL of the staff were wonderful, excellent service, great food. The hotel is beautifully decorated with lush gardens. It’s quiet and peaceful. We particularly liked the fact that the security guards checked where we were going and noted our UBER number ( in particular Peter … such a warm gentleman .. welcoming us as if we were family). We will definitely come back.
• greatcats (6/5): $13 tea bag - My lasting impression of this hotel is a $13 teabag. We were waiting for a ride to the airport and we were sitting in the lobby. During check out, I ordered a cup of tea, nothing else. Paid the bill. While exiting the hotel, I was stopped and asked to pay for the tea. Ok, but really? A cup of tea? Gave them my card and found an international charge for $13. What does a tea bag cost, maybe 3 cents? Really angered me. Rooms are nice with beautiful gardens. Food is not very good, eggs at breakfast and caesar salad barely edible.
• 863glenng (8/5): A recommended enjoyable stay, but dine elsewhere - We recently stayed at the Peech Hotel in Johannesburg for two nights at the terminus of our African safari experiences. We found the grounds to be secure (safe) and well maintained with a myriad of indigenous plantings. The front desk staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel architecture is compelling, our room was of a modern design, with an abundance of natural light, a deck, a very nice bathroom (no bathtub), and was well maintained. Of note, the stone and wood stairs (2nd floor) were challenging given the rainstorm leaving them very slippery. We found the service in the restaurant to be slow, irregular and lacking in attention (more than sufficient wait staff, they spent a good deal of time talking at volume among themselves, clearly a training/management issue), the cuisine was average/mediocre and well below expectations given the analog to the Pot Luck Club. We would recommend dinning elsewhere. There were several utility power, Wi-Fi, phone and television outages, we assume beyond the hotels control. A recommended enjoyable stay, but dine elsewhere

• Ltthughes (10/5): Johannesburg Best Boutique Hotel - Our group had a two night stay in Johannesburg before heading to Kruger National Park for a safari. Go2Africa highly recommended The Peech Hotel because of its upscale location and excellent service. They were never wrong. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with warm smiles, towels and a spritzer to freshen up. After informing the staff that one of suitcases was lost, they immediately stepped in to offer assistance. The rooms were spacious and nicely appointed. The breakfast was very good. My only suggestion would be to offer chicken or turkey meats to the breakfast menu. The staff went above and beyond in accommodating every request. The courtyard grounds were nicely kept. It was so nice to see the manager in full swing offering her assistance. We could not have asked for a better hotel to stay while in Johannesburg.

• Kafe1 (8/5): Pleasant Hotel in Quiet Neighborhood - The Peech Hotel was a pleasant, well maintained hotel in a quiet neighborhood outside Johannesburg, South Africa. The staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet was small and there were not that many other options to order. The grounds were well maintained, however the pool should have been cleaned of leaves. We did enjoy our stay but perhaps would have preferred a hotel closer to restaurants and shops.

• 521brucec (8/5): Good property and rooms - weird vibe - The rooms were very spacious and very nice. Clean, updated and comfortable (although the bed was not comfortable for us). Everyone was very nice and helpful, but there was an overall weird vibe at the hotel that we couldn't put our finger on - almost like they're trying to hard. And we didn't like the hotel setup - courtyard like, so darkened curtains need to be pulled so other rooms can't see into yours at night.
• CAMCO79 (8/5): Comfortable Stay with Some Thoughtful Touches - We recently stayed at the Peech Hotel in Johannesburg for just one night as part of our honeymoon and birthdays. As our time there was short and we weren’t in the hotel much, I can only give some basic feedback. The hotel itself felt pleasant enough, and the location worked well for a short stay. On arrival, it was a lovely touch to be welcomed with glasses of champagne and to find our room decorated in parts with petals – a thoughtful gesture for our occasion. The bed was also really comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. We did have dinner in the restaurant, which was fine, though we were the only guests dining at the time so it felt a little quiet. Staff were helpful throughout our stay, and as we had to leave too early for a cooked breakfast, takeaway boxes were provided, which we appreciated. Overall, it was an ok stay – comfortable for a night or two in Johannesburg, with some nice touches, but we didn’t experience enough to give a fuller impression.

We especially appreciated the assistance in arranging an emergency dentist visit including booking an uber to and from. Sincerely thanks again Peech staff. We also liked how they were giving trainee young people a start in the hospitality industry.

• TrevorH01 (8/5): Good weekend at The Peech Hotel... - We enjoyed our stay at The Peech Hotel... We stayed in one of the Luxury Rooms. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. One thing lacking in our room was a bath but maybe you have to stay in a suite for that. Breakfast at the Hotel was ok but nothing amazing... In summary, I would recommend this hotel to friends and I would stay there again.

The highlight was the fabulous dinner meal my colleagues and enjoyed from the associated restaurant known as "The Potluck Kitchen" I look forward to staying there again for a longer period in the near future!

There are 2 restaurants, both good but suggest doing advance booking for the Pot Luck Club restaurant, it is very good. Hotel is in safe area, can walk down to Melrose Arch through park, no problem.

Africa - From the moment you come through the gate at this suburban location you are continually welcomed and queried, “ what can we get you?” The rooms are lovely, quiet, and well lit. Bathrooms have a wonderful rain shower. Food at the restaurant was fabulous.

• AGthing56 (10/5): Amazing stay! - My husband and I traveled to South Africa for my birthday and we stayed at The Peech Hotel for a total of 3 nights. All of the staff are wonderful, from the security, to the bellman, front desk, and servers at breakfast. Everyone is so nice, and friendly. They will happily assist you with anything you need. We like staying at boutique hotels because they have a special charm, superior service, and cleanliness. Staying at The Peech met our expectations and beyond. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel lobby quaint and well designed with great music. Perfect to invite you to just sit around and enjoy the fire place on a cool evening. The hotel is in a safe neighborhood and is in close proximity to top dining locations in Melrose, Rosebank or to Sandton Mall. If you have a gluten allergy they can accommodate with gluten free bread or with modifications. We will certainly return to The Peech Hotel!
• Escape08677882432 (10/5): The Peech Hotel is awesome - If you have more than 1 night in Jo'berg because of a layover then make the 1/2 hr drive to Melrose & most certainly stay at the Peech. The property is beautiful, the rooms, services & staff stellar, and the location within Melrose is perfect. A 5 min walk will take you to the James & Ethel Gray Park for a nice walk. A 10 min walk puts you in the center of the Melrose Arch district. The Peech is lovely & very relaxing stop on your Central African itinerary.

• MMGLA (10/5): AMAZING Hospitality--They took care of my sick husband - This review is long over due. We stayed in July 2024, but I am just now getting around to writing the review. Everything that others have said about the restaurant, the beautiful room, beautiful hotel grounds, etc is all true. There's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said. This hotel is WONDERFUL. My review is to comment on the exceptional care this hotel took of my husband when he was very sick. We are from the United States and were traveling on a 23 day trip around the world to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel the first night, then spent the following day (which was the day of our 10 year anniversary) at Ukutula lodge to walk with lions. While at Ukutula, my husband became very ill. It got increasingly worse as the day wore on, until he could barely walk as he was in so much stomach pain. We thought maybe it was something he ate that morning (NOT at the hotel--at a local cafe) and when we returned to the hotel, I informed them we would be canceling our reservations for our wedding anniversary dinner, as my husband was unwell. They were very understanding and I'm not sure if they usually charge people in that situation, but they did not charge us. We canceled an hour before the dinner and it was the tasting menu, so I know we inconvenienced them terribly, but they did not let on. When we got to our room, there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us, as it was our anniversary night. I called and asked if they could come get the bottle, as we would not be enjoying it that night since he was sick. When one of the members of the hotel staff came up to get the bottle, he saw how sick my husband looked while in the bed. He asked me if I needed him to call a doctor. Being from the US, I didn't know this was even an option. I asked him if that was something that would be wildly expensive and he explained that it would not be (again, not something we are used to in the US). My husband declined the offer, but he got worse. I ended up calling the receptionist again and asked for a doctor. They had a doctor at the door of our hotel room in under an hour. My husband was given a few vaccines and antibiotics by the doctor, who was also so kind. He had some sort of a stomach bug which was causing the pain and nonstop vomiting. After he fell asleep, I went down to the lobby to read a little bit and get out of the hotel room and get some fresh air. Once I was in the lobby, the front desk staff immediately recognized me and asked if there was anything else they could do for me or if I needed food or a drink. They were so kind to me during a really difficult time and made me feel like everything was going to be okay. The medication helped and my husband felt well enough to get on a plane to Singapore 36 hours later--something he never could have done when he was so sick. In the end, we were charged US$260 by the doctor for his services and all of that medication. The front desk continued to check in on us during our last day (we stayed 3 nights and the 2nd night was when he got sick). I just couldn't believe how kind and accommodating they were. Before they offered to send a doctor, I was terrified. We were halfway around the world from home, my husband was so ill I didn't know how he would get on a plane to continue our journey, and I had nobody to call. They truly saved our vacation and helped my husband get back to good health. Without the proper care, who knows how much sicker he would have gotten. I want to add that this not only speaks to the extreme hospitality of the Peech Hotel, but also the country of South Africa. This was not how I wanted my time at the Peech Hotel to go, but all things considered, it was a lovely experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Johannesburg. Thank you to the Peech Hotel for treating us like family and taking care of us when our 10 year wedding anniversary took a turn for the worst! Your staff will always have a special place in our hearts. I've told anyone who will listen to me all about your wonderful hotel and your wonderful hospitality :)

The staff were beyond helpful, the room was beautifully appointed, the catering was first rate. After a long train journey, the chance to just relax in the beautiful surroundings was just so appreciated. I'm sorry South Africa is so far from Philadelphia: I'd return in a minute.

It is a perfect boutique hotel, modern and sleek with a lovely pool. The staff are very friendly, attentive and polite. The restaurant was lovely, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and it was great. I would stay here again if I returned to Johannesburg.

They have one of the most sought after restaurants on site (the potluck club) and the rooms and grounds are so well maintained. This was a luxurious peaceful experience.

All the little details in the room were thought through to make the stay as comfortable and luxurious as possible. Bed was extremely comfortable, rooms snacks were thoughtful and creative. Great shower pressure in the bathroom. But above all the design of the hotel and beautiful gardens were my favourite.
• Rach1p (10/5): Lovely small hotel - A comfortable 2 night stay in a stylish room with lovely shower room. Lacking on drawer space for storage but that didn’t bother us for a short stay. It rained during our stay so we didn’t make use of the pool or best use of our balcony but the pool area looked well maintained and the gardens are lovely. Complimentary umbrellas available. Breakfast was tasty and the staff is excellent - really friendly personnel. We would stay here again.
• BrendaG221 (10/5): Well situated hotel - Hotel is situated in the Melrose region of Johannesburg. We felt quite safe walking to Melrose centre during the day and evening, about a 20 min walk. The centre has plenty of dining options and shops. The hotel is lovely, very clean and staff helpful and friendly. Charles on the gate likes to know where you are going so he knows when you are back, which is reassuring. The breakfast is excellent, freshly cooked and good selection. Rooms are clean and pleasant, ample off road parking. The hotel does offer evening meals but we never ate there. Another shopping Mall is within walking distance, took about 40mins, but felt safe walking.

Gillian and her team provide a level of personalised service that you don't even find at the Four Seasons. They're almost telepathic at anticipating your needs. And they're universally charming, competent and friendly. The rooms are large, peaceful and very comfortable with high-quality bedding There's a private entrance to the massive Planet Fitness next door, which costs R150 a day (about €7). The gardens are stunning, the food is excellent and the area is safe enough to walk around (in the day) with a park opposite Definitely coming back

I was put out by the inflexibility shown with regards to their 11am checkout time. They insisted I pay to extend this to midday. This left a bad taste to what was aside from this an acceptable stay. I would stay again but will probably look at other choices

• Ell (10/5): Lovely hotel in a quiet park like setting - We stayed one night only at the Peech Hotel as we passed through Johannesburg. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the king sized bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and strong, and the room had all the necessary amenities. We enjoyed our dinner in the hotel restaurant. We would recommend the Peech as long as you don’t want to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg. Everything is a Taxi or Uber ride away.
• Christian (10/5): Perfect for us - The Peech is a lovely, small hotel in a very quiet residential area of Jo-burg. It is close to good restaurants and some shopping, and also within easy reach of main sights like the Apartheid Museum and Constitution Hill. The neighborhood is certainly walkable during the day, main sights are a 20-minute or so drive away. We stayed twice, on the way into and out of Botswana. On our first visit, I had picked up some sort of stomach flu and was under the weather. The staff did everything to help out, and the chef cooked some comfort food that was not on the menu, to ease my upset stomach. It was like being at home, just what I needed. Then on our way out, Nischka (the GM) let us keep our room late, as our overnight flight didn't leave until evening. All around, a wonderful place to stay for us. If you like a small, homey, luxurious, friendly hotel in a quiet location...The Peech is a great choice.
