Guest Reviews
- Mark Pattullo (9/5): Wish it could have been for longer. A very relaxing place to stay. - Our family included a dog and to find accommodation this good and that close to the town centre, that also includes the family pet is fantastic. We recommend the York Cottages as a very welcoming place to stay and look forward to return visits in the future. The water pressure in the kitchen sink at the Settlers cottage was poor, however the bathroom water pressure was very good. For future reference the fly wire door couldn't shut properly and fly wire needs replacing to stop the flies in summertime
- hooper (10/5): Fantastic we loved it .would reccomend it.had everything even tennis courts 😁 - So easy Liked everything everything you needed was There
- Yau (8/5): -
- trevor (9/5): Quiet and peaceful - The quiet It was all very good
- Clare (7/5): - The rustic feel of the building but with modern day comforts Washing machine didn't spin properly so I had to take my clothes to the laundry mat
- Coral (9/5): Very comfortable and convenient - Enclosed garden for our little dog. Beautifully decorated and well equipped. More dog bowls would have been great.

- Trudy (8/5): -
- Kitty (10/5): Enjoyable stay. - Great location and beautiful cottage. Loved that the kitchen had details such as salt and paper, and cling wrap. One of the beds creaked at the slightest movement and made for a bad nights sleep.
- Petra (8/5): -
- Aaron (7/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Home away from home - Home away from home, cottages were great and fully equipped!
- Jamie (7/5): -

- Lacy (10/5): We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, the chooks and alpacas - We had all that was necessary to make our meals, and drinks. The cottage was beautifully decorated and very comfy. Beds were very comfy, had a great sleep. My friends and I would definitely return. Had a lovely chat to Gayle, she was very friendly, a great host. Damaged front door fly screen, had a couple of unwanted pests, but that was a very minor issue.
- Draper (8/5): -
- Ana (10/5): - Loved the house and utilities.
Great location
- Izo (8/5): - Settlers cottage is a lovely rustic dog-friendly country cottage. Enjoyed the bath, and the beds were very comfortable with good quality linen. Feeding the alpacas was fun too.
Recommend the Flour Mill Cafe nearby. It would have been nice to have some milk in the fridge for the tea&coffee.
- Denise (8/5): -
- Lyn (9/5): Lovely home away from home - Very comfortable spacious and quiet
- Susanna (8/5): We had a lovely time at Settler's cottage and will visit again. - The location where the town meets fields of canola and a meadow of alpacas was fabulous.
The rustic look outside and inside Settler's cottage. The furniture brought you back to a time, when live wasn't so hectic.
We also liked the big old bathtub - it's nice to be able to stretch out when you are having a bath. The toilet door, which got stuck in the frame when closed and made a loud squeaky noise when forced open again. I'm sure it will be fixed by the time the next guest arrives. : )
- Clariza (9/5): Lovely, rustic cottage - Settlers cottage is rustic. I didn't think much of it outside but my husband liked the rustic look. Inside it has a lovely, cottage feel. I loved the spacious bedroom and the coffee pod machine. My son loved the bunk bed, the alpacas and the basketball "court". Toilet was a bit small
- Roslyn (10/5): Fantastic stay 2nd time there and won’t be the last - Walkable to town , clean comfortable value for money , plenty of things to do on the property
- Mantle (9/5): - Loved the location and charm of the country setting .Settlers cottage was full of colonial nostalgia. . From the chooks to the alpacas, what more could we ask for.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Alexandra (9/5): - It was a large home that was very inviting and had everything we needed. Nothing
- Tracey (9/5): Beautiful heritage cottages in York WA - The cottages on the grounds were wonderfully maintained without losing the heritage and history. The facilities were excellent for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect, just a short walk to York's main street, leaving the car behind and exploring on foot.
- Jenny (8/5): Very enjoyable, cute cottage in lovely area - Situated in close position to the town in peaceful surroundings Needed a little maintenance work, front door handle very loose and lock not working properly and toilet door gets stuck closed
- Evan (9/5): -
- judy (10/5): Fantastic with 2 small children - The inside fire was awesome, however the chimney might be a bit blocked as it smoked the room out.
- Sarah (10/5): Absolute gem of a place that takes you back in time. - Cosy, traditional features, beautifully presented, really lovely.

- Sandra (10/5): Great stay with friends in a lovely comfy home with great outlook and amenities - Everything. Very quaint little cottage Great location. Quiet. Loved the country aspect and animals to feed We just had a problem with the key Door was difficult to open
- Emma (10/5): Relaxation at its finest. - The cottage was absolutely adorable and we felt extremely relaxed. There was a lot of information at hand on things to do aswell. Our dog got out of the backyard and Brenton was on site and helped get him back in and fixed up the rocks he moved. All in all there wasn't a thing we would have changed. Nothing.
- Belinda (10/5): An extremely relaxing Easter weekend was had by the whole family and our dog. Peaceful location with a beautiful homely - We enjoyed the old cottage feel of the accommodation and that it was located on a beautiful farm. Animals were friendly and interactive. Lots of things to do, tennis courts, playground, feed the animals. Beautiful location for star gazing and seeing the Milky Way.
- Megan (10/5): Perfect cottage for a romantic getaway or family friendly break - Penske cottage was absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous old stone cottage with period features and furniture. The beds were so comfy, as were the couches. Great water pressure from the shower over a claw foot tub. Lovely fenced in garden out the back where you could watch a gorgeous sunset over the paddock. I was even lucky enough to see the Aurora Australis from the backyard during our stay. The kids loved feeding the alpacas, sheep and chickens and there’s a tennis court, big garden and a lovely small playground on the property so they made instant friends with the kids staying next door. We love the heritage charm of York and enjoyed a couple of nights for a short getaway leading up to the Easter weekend. Highly recommend these cottages for a relaxing retreat. There are a few so it would also be great for a group of families to stay and holiday together. Nothing
- Clare (9/5): Amazing place to stay, especially for families. - Amazing place to stay, especially for families. Has everything in one place for kids from the animals to playground to tennis court. Such a great place. Will definitely be back.

- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - It was quiet and had everything we needed. Kids loved the playground and feeding the alpacas and sheep. Comfortable beds! Nothing!
- Linda (8/5): Very good - A very cute cottage
- Lynne (8/5): Couple of nights before flight out of Perth. - Plenty of space inside. Two great porches to sit on.. Beautiful views across alpacas and sheep. Excellent air con unit when it was 39 degrees that cooled the whole house. Plenty of parking. Ageing kitchen doors and counter. Felt tlc needed throughout for nails in walls, holes retc. Jug or bottle for water in fridge or for drinks would be useful. Shower curtains in free standing tub not a pleasant experience.2nd bed uncomfortable so had to sleep in front warm bedroom with flimsy curtains...awake by 6am each day from rising sun.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Awesome little cottage with authentic atmosphere really loved it. - We loved the location and the authentic look of the cottage. There wasn’t any thing that we didn’t like.
- Melissa (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (9/5): A cottage to visit for peace and relaxation. - My daughter and I stayed for a couple of nights at Pendle Cottage. I was delighted when I entered the front door, I felt like I had stepped back in time. It is beautifully done, with every comfort you could need. We were visited by the friendly Alpacas in the paddock behind, which made my daughter very happy! Sitting on the back veranda watching the sun go down, and the glorious peaceful mornings made me feel like I was a million miles from anywhere. To be really picky, the pillows were too firm for us to sleep comfortably on. But this is personal preference, and I will take my own next time.
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Emily (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (9/5): Superb - The old charm of the cottage was lovely, and the animals were located just over the fence.
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional - Cottage had everything that you needed & very comfortable

- Chris (10/5): Thank you Gayle. Your property is amazing. We had such a wonderful time and didn't want to leave. - Everything. The property is amazing. A beautiful cottage filled with exquisite comfort inside and outside. The pool is a fantastic addition which was welcomed on the hot day we were there. Nothing to dislike! Seriously.
- Narelle (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything about the property from the beautiful furniture from the era of the home to the wrap around verandas with ample seating. Pool and tennis court with bbq area with lights for the night time were fabulous. Animals to feed, ping pong table, hot water, air con, stunning gardens and the list goes on.
- Jodie (10/5): Great stay! - Property has actually improved since last time, no idea how as was fantastic last time! Canola fields were not in flower. Jokes 😀
- Heather (7/5): Very enjoyable and relaxing - Privacy and the serenity of the property. Window treatments
- Danielle (8/5): Cosy rustic cottage - Cosy cottage vibe. Friendly host who took the time for some conversation. Friendly/hungry goat. Noticed some minor cleanliness issues (loose tissues behind bed, dust - but understand dust is pretty hard to manage at such a property!), some outdoor chairs rickety so had to test before sitting down.
- Brown (10/5): Lovely getaway - Rustic charm of an old cottage with modern conveniences of a washing machine and aircon. Loved feeding the alpacas and goats and the playground right outside our front door. Trouble shutting the bathroom door. Vacuum, even a handheld, would be convenient.
- Lisa (10/5): Such a perfect stay. Highly recommended from start to finish. Brilliant, kind hosts. - Everything was just right. Comfortable beds, temperature, sparkling pool, everything we needed. Beautiful home.
- Glenys (9/5): Fabulous hosts on a fabulous property. - Magnificent property. Beautifully quaint, comfy, super clean cottage. A step back in time for the perfect getaway. The cute animals a bonus. Second bed a little squeaky.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely stay - would highly recommend!
- Jacqui (9/5): Lovely family stay. Relaxed, comfortable. - The unique nature of the property.
The playground for the kids.
The bath was nice. Beds were comfy.
Fire pit outside was great, and easy to use.
- Yolande (9/5): Superb - Such a lovely place to stay - both us and the dog had a wonderful time :)
- Eliza (10/5): A charming and comfortable home away from home. - Lovely location with beautiful scenery. It is extremely comfortable with everything you need for a short stay away. The hosts are so friendly. I would definitely return again if possible. Nothing
- Toni (8/5): Love York and loved that it was pet-friendly. - Loved the pit fire outside and the animals. The cottage had a lovely quaintness. Very well-equipped. Lovely and quiet. It was a little cold temperature-wise. Ceiling insulation inadequate. Perhaps hand wash in bathroom could be included.
- Graham (8/5): A very nice place to stay for a weekend away. - It was quiet and cosy. Perfect for a weekend away.
- Raymond (9/5): Well appointed and a very comfortable stay - Heritage property Ready to burn firewood not prepared for guests. Ducted air conditioning in all rooms was excellent. So if you prefer guests not to use the firebox, then be explicit. Either remove it or put a sign on it to ask guests to not use it. Guests would respect that. On suite bathroom was too cold to use comfortably.
- Anna (9/5): Superb - The country location so close to town is perfect for a quick getaway. With plenty for the kids to do and explore plus comfy places to snuggle up with a book by the fire or relax looking over the paddock filled with alpacas.
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Ashleigh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dian (10/5): Exceptional -
