Guest Reviews

- Kelly (6/5): Simple but lovely - Host was friendly and gave all the important information. House was nice and with character (I mean it an old house, so it is normal to expect squeaky floors and so on). Quite near to old town, in a quiet hood. Stair was quite steep. Bathroom and toilet were downstairs and bedroom upstairs (was a bit annoying because of a steep stair). Outside area was quite small.
- george (10/5): What it says on the label - The property was as expected in a great location with only a short walk into the old centre of town, If you look carefully you will find a couple of top restuarnts lesss than 5 minutes away The need to state that the folding bed was required. My sister and I were traveling together. The Owner immediately responded and had the bed made up
- Jacob (7/5): - Very neat place. Historic, quiet, would be great for a honeymoon. Lovely windows and doors, cute back patio, and great loft. Kind host who made special accommodations for our family. Not very child friendly; stairs were steep and did not have a secure railing. The toilet room sink was broken and the shower drain unfortunately had a poor odor.
- Fabián (8/5): - Location is great. There is some damp smell in the bathroom.
Niks

- East (9/5): - Great location, in easy walking distance of town center. Parking nearby was a real bonus. Steep stairs, with no rail.
- Rowena (9/5): Enjoyable in a quirky cottage with a great location. - Superb central location with free parking Perhaps the heating turned on in advance of arrival as it was very cold.
- Craig (8/5): -
- Lucie (10/5): - L'emplacement, le confort, les équipements !
- Astrid (9/5): Een voltreffer.
- Simon (8/5): Good location - Very quaint and characterful, good location. Staff were outstanding Could have done with a little extra cleaning or TLC.
- Glenn (7/5): - The house is very tiny for 3 people and for 2 guests it would be nice actually. It is very old which adds character and the location is brilliant. The kitchen is very rudimentary but useable. Rudy was very good at giving us information we needed before arrival. The stairs to the upper floor are steep and were challenging for one of our party with some mobility issues. The main bed upstairs was comfortable. The parking was close and easy to access. The sofa bed in the main room was very uncomfortable and I ended up putting the mattress on the floor for 2 nights to get a decent sleep.
- Dorianne (10/5): - Great location close to tram and close to the city centre. The house has a unique charm, it was very clean, equipped kitchen, clean towels, heater which made the ambience beautiful. Owner was very helpful with information and easy to contact. Nil
- Elaine (9/5): - Great location, good parking and comfy bedroom Stairs a tad steep
- Maria (5/5): - Location All faucets leaked
A chair fell apart - we had to reassemble
TV stopped working
Sofabed could not be folded back up, so we had to sit on the bed vs the couch during the day
Steep stairs to upper level made it difficult to take up suitcase
- Evelyn (7/5): -
- Oleg Zaitov (9/5): Superb location - The location is superb, with all the beauty of majestic Gent within walking distance. There was no instructions on garbage sorting, neither there were bags for different garbage types. When on vacation I do not like figuring out which bag should I use and where to get a particular bag. We had to buy bags ourselves. Another point is that the city tax was not included. Why not to include in the advertised price? Additionally there was no a washing machine.
- Avtandili (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dennis (8/5): Very good - Cute
Unique
Great for a couple Not comfortable for family of four
- Peter (8/5): Authentic Flemish cottage - Very historic and great location. The backyard is beautiful. The owner arranged additional bedding very quickly. Only 1 bedroom.
- Lindsay (9/5): Perfect stay for Ghent - Perfect location plus free off road parking for the car. Great communication from Rudy, comfy bed and a little welcome box of chocolates!
The cottage was perfect for our one night stay - wish we could have stopped longer as we loved Ghent. Stairs are steep - fine for us but others may find these tricky
- Elena (9/5): Superb -
- Elena (9/5): Superb -
- Andy (9/5): Good weekend - Cosy, comfortable and well located Nothing really.
- Nuala (9/5): Superb - Great location, excellent communication with host, loved the decor Nothing
- Maike (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marcos (10/5): Cute little house - Superb location, beautiful little house
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Debbie (9/5): A lovely stay in this quaint cottage - Location was excellent. Very close to the city centre. It had a dedicated parking space. It was very comfortable and warm during a rather chilly week. We had everything that we needed. N/A
- Mark (8/5): Central with private parking - A short walk to the main square and canal. Easy parking even though in the centre was a great asset. No need to carry keys around because entry by code. Basic accommodation but clean and great for a short break. If we stayed longer there would be a need for more kitchen utensils. But ok for a couple of days... especially with some great places to eat in town!
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nirundorn (9/5): Superb - Free Parking lot, Very Good Location, Superb Facilities, and Super host Nothing
- William (9/5): Superb - Location and layout
- Alban (9/5): We had a nice experience at this location and we’d gladly come back again! - Very convenient and quiet location. Very good communication with the owner.
- Stephen (8/5): Great location, well decorated, quite tight for 4 people, better suited to 2. - Amazing location, well decorated and was comfortable to stay in. Kitchen has fridge, oven and outdoor yard area. Great city and it is located very close to the main areas. Parking very near (remember it is in the ULEZ zone). Plumbing needs attention as some of the taps weren’t working or were leaking a bit. The upstairs double is comfortable and excellent. For more than 2 people the second bed is a sofa bed in the living area which is quite tight in space.
- Jian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): A really useful break on our journey in a charming, compact, and very well organised city. - A really exquisite cottage in the centre of Gent with convenient off-street parking The listing could have pre-warned us about the recently introduced Low Emission Zone [LEZ] in Gent. To those of us not used to such things it was quite complex to work out. That said, no properties I looked at in Gent mentioned the LEZ
- Jevgenijs (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (7/5): Quirky property in a good location. - Quirkiness of the property - having a whole property with a garden at the back. Great location. The gas stove would be really cosy in the winter. Stairs were steep. Whilst the industrial style plumbing was cool, all the taps leaked. The shower room was very cramped and needs smarting up.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Great central location in a quiet side street with parking. Well equipped. Shower could do with an upgrade, looks lovely but difficult to get the right temperature.
- Robertacremaschi (9/5): Superb - Good position, quite alley close to the centre!
Very nice stay 2 night in a tiny ancent house.
Free parking at the end of the alley! The floor was not very clean !
Nice but not simple to use water fittings!
- Victoria (6/5): Without the rain a perfect atmospheric spot from which to explore the charming city of Ghent - Loved the quirkiness and the history Loved everything except the very loud constant dripping noise all night (it rained a lot!) down the chimney. Our daughter couldn’t sleep as it was so loud so she came upstairs and my husband slept on the floor. Still loud upstairs. Such a shame as we loved it otherwise
- Julien (9/5): Perfect -
- Bronny (8/5): Very good - we booked 2 rooms for 2 friends travelling together. We only had one double bed made up. we had to call the host about extra bedding.
- Ferenc (9/5): Superb -
- Ayda (8/5): Very good - The ubication was the best
- Marios (9/5): Superb -
- Harvey (9/5): Superb -
- Rhea (9/5): Superb -
- David (6/5): Lovely little house, could have been so much better - Overall warm and comfortable, serving most of our needs Strong drain smell from start to finish of our stay, in the shower room and entrance hall but permeated throughout house.
Entrance keyboard annoying (especially when it's cold and or raining/snowing) as had to keep tapping to get to work.
Need new bed pillows (the ones provided were like sleeping on a small box!).
Shower - cramped, grubby/ felt like it could have been cleaner
Lack of storage for clothes - a small chest of drawers in the bedroom is needed and there's plenty of room to have one there.
Sitting area could have had more ambient light and at least another comfortable chair.
Rain fall down chimney was extremely noisy (constant dripping of rain on plasterboard)
Despite best efforts of host, the television didn't work.
- Richard (9/5): Excellent! - Location perfect for train station (c30-40 minutes walk) and city centre. Bed and sofa-bed comfortable. Kitchen well-stocked with utensils &c. Fire (once we got the hang of the controls!) very good - property retains warmth very well. Very quiet neighbourhood. No problems with hot water. No problems with keypad entry. Good sized table for working. Would definitely stay again if available. Rain dripping above the fire (as mentioned by previous customer) - needed earplugs a couple of nights. No real problem for us (but needs checking?). Stairs a bit daunting - not for those with bad knees! Bathroom a bit cramped. But minor irritations and we would defiitely pick this property in future if available.
- Richard (9/5): Superb - We had 2 separate bookings with the second following on immediately after this one day. See that review. See subsequent review.
- Antony (9/5): Superb -
- Silvia (10/5): Exceptional - everything. magic!
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Really helpful they really tried to get tickets for the game that was the purpose of the visit. We finally got in!
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Characterful property in a great location close to the city centre. We were pleased to be able to park close by the property. The owner was friendly and very helpful.
- Mcalle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valentina (10/5): Exceptional - This apartment was perfect for my stay. I was travelling for a conference and really appreciated having the extra space to work. The apartment is clean, very nicely decorated, has all the necessary equipment for cooking if you want to stay in, and I really loved having a back garden. I definitely recommend this charming little place!
- Jenny (8/5): Cute unique place but not practical - It was a cute and unique place if you are looking for a different kind of experience as opposed to staying at a regular hotel room. It was quite spacious with 1.5 bathrooms and a kitchen. Unfortunately when we went it was raining so didn't get a chance to check out the little patio at the back. Not a very practical place to stay longer than one night, especially if you are not young or able bodied. The stairs to the room were quite steep and narrow so it would be really hard to bring your suitcase up. I slept on the sofa bed and it wasn't that comfortable but was good enough for one night. My friends complained how hot the upstairs room was even at night with the fan on and the windows open. I also suggest you close the door to the living room if you are sleeping on the couch otherwise the sensor lights will turn on each time you move. And lastly while I appreciated how they had a full bathroom and a powder room, the shower was quite small and had nowhere to put your shampoo/soap other than on the floor.
- Tracey (10/5): Great location and lovely place - Lovely place and everything you needed N/A
- Unoit (6/5): Missed the mark on the ambiance of the property. Uncomfortable bed. - One of these days someone is really going to hurt themselves on the stairs, there is no railing. Do NOT transverse the stairs at night! The bed was uncomfortable.
- Murdo (8/5): Excellent property does what it says on the website, good value for money. - Location was excellent for exploring the city, and access to property and communication with host was excellent. It was a hot time of year luckily we had a fan with us, the shower takes a bit of getting used to in order to get right temperature.
- Lesley (7/5): Good - quaint and unique. quiet street close to sites was quite hot - a fan would help.
very good coffee and maker was supplied but would have been nice to have milk.
