Guest Reviews
- Sue (3/5): Don't bother - The view was good. Very confusing arrival instructions: the address given doesn't have street access to the house and I had to park on the road and walk through the property to find the rear entry. The property is badly maintained, with collapsing fences. There was not even basic condiments like salt or pepper, no tea or coffee, and only butter knives.
- Khalid (9/5): We really the house view. Differently booking the same house for our next holiday trip to Lorne. - The beach view. Beds .
- Mesfino (5/5): Not up to the standard - The view It's cold. No proper heating. bed not confey
No internet. no smart TV. Difficult to find the house.
Not much to like in this property.

- Grant (7/5): It was suitable for us for the occasion we were down for. - Property was perfect for a family.
Great ocean view and plenty of our own space.
So much better than staying in a hotel when there is 4 or more people together. The main bed is rock hard and there needs to be a new mattress as it was terribly uncomfortable and we ended up sleeping on the couches which was not ideal.
I would of thought a smart tv would also be a positive in the tech world we now live in.
Upgrade the mattress and tv and we would come back for sure.
- James (7/5): Good -
- Sophie (5/5): Beautiful views but out dated - The views from the property were beautiful! That we had to supply our own linens and towels. Otherwise it was an added cost the week of.
The place felt very dated - considering the cost.
- Medley (5/5): Passable - House was good, needs some repairs. Poor customer service from GORH - don't expect any support and response rate is terrible.
External hire of linen- most ridiculous prices to hire
House didn't contain basic cooking equipment or kitchen pantry items.
- Georgina (8/5): Beautiful views of the ocean. An old home but comfortable enough with everything we needed. - Beautiful view, very large house Parking only for one car
- Terry (9/5): The stay was great, it was a work trip and we loved our time at the house -
- Zahra (1/5): Very poor and the staff was very rude on the phone. - I was disappointed with the condition of the property. The space was in poor condition, with everything appearing dusty and unclean. The basic facilities were lacking—there were no proper pillows, and the bathroom was not clean. Overall, the property did not meet my expectations for cleanliness and comfort. The property was in very poor condition and not worth the price. There was dust everywhere, and the strong smell of chemicals was overwhelming. The bed had bedbugs, and I was unable to sleep the entire night, leading to an allergic reaction and severe itching. There was no proper heater, and the bathroom, including the toilet, was not clean. Basic facilities were lacking—there were no toilet rolls, tissues, proper pillows, or even a decent quilt or blanket. To make matters worse, the kettle had mud and green substances inside, which was extremely concerning. Overall, the property was far below expectations.
- Maureen (8/5): Relaxing time with great views - Great view, comfortable couches, spacious kitchen, beds comfortable Needed better directions on where to park car at the back of property , keys didn’t open door but office was very efficient in sending maintenance person. Needed extra bowls in kitchen.
- David (7/5): Plenty of room & comfortable but a thorough clean is well overdue - Plenty of room Property needs a good clean- fat on wall above stove/ cupboards need a good clean. No linen was supplied - had to hire. We WERE advised prior that there was no linen.
- Bianca (6/5): Amazing view very dirty house - Location and the view! Soooo dirty. I’ve probably stayed in over 100 hotels and air bnbs and never experienced anything like this. Literally hair on all the beds and pillows in every room. Dust and dead moths all over the carpet. Dust on window and kitchen. We literally had to clean the house. The shower was dirty even.
Otherwise great location, beautiful view, old hence the name retro. The cheaper price doesn’t mean don’t clean the property that’s unacceptable. No one mentioned once you can’t enter the property from the address and it’s on a complete different street with really hard access. I have a large suv and my car still scrapped getting in and out.
Took us an hour to check in with this lack of communication and phone calls. Then to make check out 10am and check in 3pm for cleaners… not sure what they clean but you might need to hire a different cleaning company that house wasn’t cleaned in months.
Overall good stay with my family just a shame it couldn’t be clean. Recommend if they decide to clean the house.
- Julie (7/5): Comfortable and relaxed - Views Parking
- Travis (5/5): Well priced, comfortable and good views. - The location is beautiful, back off the beach a bit but elevated and nice views out the front. And lorne is a beautiful place. The house was obviously very upmarket in its day. TV's in every room, the couches are very comfortable and the place has everything you need like a home away from home. The house is very retro which is a nice step back in time and it's very comfortable, but lacking a bit of maintenance. It needs a good deep clean, and the fact that there is a permanent Tennant living under the house should have been made clear at the time of booking. Being woken up at 4am from the Tennant doing what sounded like wrestling a buffalo down stairs was a sore point for us. All the info we needed before we arrived from the realestate agent like how to access the property off deans marsh road and the Tennant thing was only given to us after we arrived.
- Emma (7/5): No wifi - It was clean, check in is off site at a real estate agent (about 3km from accommodation)
The staff at the real estate were professional, kind and helpful.
The view is incredible.
It is away from the town centre.
Good selection of board and card games. No wifi.
Furnishings, bathrooms, kitchens and interiors are very dated.
Linen is an extra cost (which they tried to charge me for even though we brought our own).
Parking is tricky to get to, drive way is a dirt, unsealed path, it is not clearly marked and is a really tight squeeze to get in and out of.
No coffee, tea, milk, towels or linen are provided.
You need to pack like you are staying at a backpackers (if you can imagine a backpackers with no wifi 🤣)
- Saurabh (6/5): Pleasant - Location Parking is not that easy
No linen
Bathroom
No Dishwasher
- Reema (10/5): Beautiful - Rare combination of great location with a view and an equally lovely 80s home design with amenities and facilities to make you feel super relaxed. The property didn't have wifi but the network in the area is really good. Loved how the place was set up with little card games, jenga and a dvd player with a wholesome selection of classic movies. Who needs wifi. Their customer support on call was super friendly too.
The library at the property also was curated with a great mix of classic novels including some Australian authors. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen but one also had the option of getting good delivered from local restaurants.
I had an easy self check-in experience here but I would recommend you accessing the property from the main road instead of from street in the address as it would mean carrying your luggage up a beautiful front lawn which is also steep. Definitely park your car on the other side, easier access to the property.
While Pillows and duvet/duvet covers are provided by the property, they state upfront that they dont provide linen directly but made it easy by connecting me to a linen hire company that provided fresh set of towels and bed sheets. It was all pretty smooth. Recommend planning a minimum of 2 day stay here to make the most of the property. Spending a day in here at the property was just as delightful as going around exploring the coast.
