Guest Reviews
- Ian (7/5): Fantastic location and nice house but let down by the bathroom. - Fantastic location. The company that runs the property provided a Christmas tree and other decorations. They were also very quick at answering any questions before our arrival, during and after (as we left a couple of things behind by mistake.
It was more or less big enough for our family 2 parents and 4 children over 20 years old. A small supermarket was close by at the other end of the park. This was open fairly early and reasonably late and very convenient. There is also a nice butchers and greengrocers very nearby. The bathroom had a bad condensation issue which inevitably meant some mould. It could do with updating and a redesign. The heating was not on a timer which would have been nice as we like it off during the night.
Getting in and out of the nearby underground parking garage was difficult for my medium size SUV. It just needed a bit of manoeuvring. This was highlighted in our arrival instructions. The garage was also waterlogged as it had been raining on arrival and this water was still there when we left 6 days later. Mine was only one of 2 cars parked there although it looked like it could hold over 20.
- Laura (8/5): Great house in a nice peaceful location. - Great location, spacious and everything you need for a short stay in Bruges. The bathroom could do with painting. There is black mould on the ceiling.
- katie (9/5): Lovely place, would definitely stay here again - Great location. Very comfortable beds and kitchen very well equipped.
Lovely to have the Christmas Tree up.
Very lovely place with lots of space in bedrooms. Bathroom does need some attention especially the ceiling.
- Jan (5/5): Enjoyable stay but the accommodation was lacking, particularly in the bathroom. - The location was good. The Christmas tree was lovely. It was warm. We loved the restaurant next door. The overall decor was shabby. The bathroom was barely adequate and needs improvements to the bath, shower and decoration. The lighting on the second floor was totally inadequate. A welcome pack would have been appreciated..
There were not sufficient comfortable seats for the occupancy.
- Marcela (9/5): - Blízko do centra, hned vedle restaurace. Měli jsme problém se zapálením plynových kamen v jedné z ložnic.
- Petr (10/5): -
- Guest (2/5): - There were dirty dishes in the cabinet. There was mold on the curtains and in the wash machine. The house had a lot of cobwebs. It just didn't appear very clean. There was not enough toilet paper for four women for a week.
- Adriane (9/5): Best location ever!!! - The location could not have been better! The house had so much charm and character, but be advised that it has 3 split level stories and the stairs are steep and narrow. Not advised for people with mobility issues. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Hot water was intermittent at best.
- Jane (9/5): House with great location. - House was comfortable and well equipped. Lovely individual Belguim style. The location was excellent. Next to a lovely small park. Short walk to Bruges for shops and attractions. Walks and cycling along the canal. Good local shops and restaurants. Supermarket close by. Parking was great once parked no need for the car. The house has very narrow stairs, so care to be taken on them. Shower over the bath was hot but not very powerful and low for tall people.

- Philip C. (7/5): Good location with local shops/bars/restaurants but the house was disappointing - Good location (restaurant bar next door, good store a couple of minutes across the park. Free parking. Comfy beds. Good WiFi. Two sets of stairs steeper than the Matterhorn.
Awful shower.
We asked to check in a hour early to find they charge 39 Euros for that. 5.00pm check-in is very late for a tenancy and it's scandalous to charge so much for an extra 60 minutes. I queried it and it can't be helped as it's 'policy'. Well, maybe change the Policy to something more equitable. Same goes for the 288 Euro cleaning fee (which clearly doesn't go on the tiny outside area which was filthy).
Dining chairs very unstable.
I don't like leaving negative reviews but when a property charges premium prices I expect premium service.
I also received around 20 scam messages after I had booked and some of these were on the Booking.com message app. Glad to say that Huswell, the agents, were quick to pick up on these but they look and sound authentic. Tried reporting them to Booking.com without success.
- Geneviève (10/5): Charmant et accessible - Tout était parfait, nous n’y étions pas assez longtemps pour en profiter!
- Marco (6/5): Bruges was lovely, very pretty with lots of character. There was plenty to do and see…. The house was ok for a short tri - Great location, couldn’t fault that. It was a charming but dated house… and the stairs were very narrow and very steep
- Alex (1/5): Terrible - In March 2025 I rented a house through HUSWELL. While it was freezing outside, the heating inside did not work. The follow-up of the complaint by HUSWELL was downright bad. We were left in the cold for three days and only received standard answers from HUSWELL and no solution at all. Then HUSWELL promised that we would get part of our money back. But that promise is not kept either. I have been waiting for the money for 12 (!) weeks now. I only get meaningless general responses from HUSWELL.
This is truly a scandalous way of treating customers. In March 2025 I rented a house through HUSWELL. While it was freezing outside, the heating inside did not work. - Sylvia (8/5): Very good - Location
- Paula (4/5): Bad management and not clean - Great location in the city center, while still accessible with the car and in a quiet street. Behind the corner of a few restaurants, bakery and shops. Strong sewage smell when we first came in. Mold on window sills and some walls. Old wooden furniture eaten by worms, that is most definitely not adding to the ambiance and should be thrown out. Dirty dishes stored as clean in the cupboards.
There were 7 of us staying 2 nights and were only given 8 coffee capsules and 1 soap. They need to provide more of these.
Parking garage is a good walk away and very difficult to park in. Only for experienced drivers.
What annoyed me the most tho, despite the subpar and disappointing accommodation, is the management agency. They have their own app and share any details (check in/out, how to use things, parking) there, not via booking. The problem is the user data (email address) is obviously not stored securely and now I am receiving scam emails related to this booking. They also require you to give them info on the app that I have already put into the Booking app (check in / out time, review).
- Erica (7/5): Amazing location, beautiful house, interior could be refreshed! - The house is beautiful and in a perfect location for easily walking to and exploring the centre of Bruges. The price was reasonable compared to other things around. For such a beautiful house the interior and facilities could do with a refresh (the photos have clearly been taking some time ago). For example, the only shower is over the bath, the ceiling is low and it's challenging for tall people to use. Also the hot water for the shower was not reliable - it couldn't cope with 6 showers, let alone 8 if you had the full occupancy. The beds were quite hard and not very comfortable. I found the management company check-in and online 'guest area' a bit irritating and in places incomplete (like what to do with garbage at the end of your stay). Finally, please provide larger mugs!
- Keith (8/5): Very good - The location was excellent & the instructions & communication was faultless There were a few bits of damage at the property.
- Marianne (8/5): Very good -
- Alessandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophio (10/5): lovely sweet home - The house is very cozy and cute. With old furniture, but cozily put together. We found all the necessary things, clean and warm. One thing to be aware of is the narrow and steep stairs. The location of the house is good. If you want to separate yourself in family coziness, this house is for you, this house is for you. Thanks to the owner.
- Josh (8/5): Very good -
- Rita (9/5): Had a great time overall, despite the rain! House cosy, warm bathroom and bedrooms. Good shower. - It was comfortable and spacious. It had a nice feel to it. We couldn’t get the heating to work downstairs, despite emails and phone calls. (This problem has since been addressed for us by Huswell).
Also, it would have been wonderful if we had had information in the house about the Shuttle Bus which runs to the Station, as we had problems getting a taxi on our departure day.
Would have been nice to have mugs as well as cups. Tea is much better in mugs.
- Kenny (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (9/5): Super location for your visit to Bruges - Location was excellent. 2 minutes' walk to a fantastic butchers, super greengrocers, park (including a great play area for small children), bakery and small supermarket. Next door to a restaurant which we visited once and it was good. A very short stroll across the park from the centre of Bruges and all it has to offer but far enough away that there are not crowds of people walking past the house. Bedrooms were nicely decorated and beds comfy. Owner responded quickly to a problem with the taps in the bathroom and kitchen and a plumber came and fixed/replaced them. Had a washing machine and a dryer which we made full use of after some travelling beforehand. I appreciated having a bath in the property rather than just a shower. The pictures of the house are not recent (possibly taken when it won best rental in Belgium in 2014 - the certificate for which is still proudly displayed on the wall) and it is not quite as bright and airy as it looks. Bathroom is rather in need of an upgrade with a chipped bath, stained grouting and ceiling and a strange tube thing instead of a basin plug but functional (once the plumber had been). Shower in bath was for the shorter traveller as only about 5'9" from bath to ceiling. Stairs are indeed narrow and steep so not for people who would struggle with that. The outside area was tiny with a set of rusty table and chairs so we did not use it. We were a group of 4 so were able to sit on the 3 seat sofa & chair but there wasn't comfy seating for more than 4. Also the dining table was fine for us and would have seated 6 comfortably. You'd be pretty squashed if there were 8 of you (house sleeps 8 max) and in general it's a very narrow house and would be pretty crowded in the living/dining/kitchen if there were 8. I would have appreciated some mugs - there were 17 small coffee cups but nothing big enough for my morning cup of tea (I'm British!) or the hot chocolates we bought. There were also no tea towels provided.
- Quick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eileen (10/5): Exceptional - Three generations of our family had a wonderful stay at this house. The house was perfectly clean throughout and had lots of quirky charms which added to its appeal. The location was wonderful with just a short stroll into the centre of the city. The local area was also excellent with a wonderful park, butchers and bakery within a short distance. I would definitely recommend this house to other family groups. Maybe for a house for eight people another bathroom would be useful. However this is such a wonderful traditional house that would spoil some of its charm.
- John (9/5): An exceptionally comfortable and well equipped town house close to Bruges town centre and all the sights and restaurants - 1. it was only 5 minute walk from town centre
2. everything worked (including smoke alarm when we burned some toast)
3. it was well equipped
4. it was lovely and warm didn’t find the ‘concierge’ company’s website very user-friendly
- Sergei (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great Weather🤣
- Chantal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Bernadette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (8/5): Lovely house in central Bruges - - great location, 5 mins walk to old town
- welcome pack on arrival
- TV in every room - Stairs narrow and v creaky
- Mouldy bathroom as other reviews have mentioned and doesn’t seem to have been treated
- small bedroom upstairs should be decluttered from huge wardrobe and statues
- Stuart (9/5): Perfect stay for your visit to Bruges. - The property was in a great location, easy to get into the centre (5min walk). Good size rooms, perfect for a group of people to stay. The bathroom had some mild on the ceiling, there could have been additional pillows.
- Kim (10/5): Amazing location and perfect stay for groups. - Great location. Very spacious apartment. Check in was pretty late and basic hygiene amenities were limited.
- Whitney (8/5): Cute, great location, good value. Would recommend. - The townhouse was cute. If you have large luggage you won’t be able to get it up the stairs as they are narrow. I left mine on the first floor and took up what I needed. Great location - walkable to the square. The kitchen was nice. Some of the pictures and decor was a bit outdated, overall, the place was cute.
There was mold in the top floor bedroom that I was in, in the corners. I do understand that European houses, especially older ones have moisture issues. There was furniture pushed up against it - I informed the owner in case they were not away. Bathroom - older, traditional shower - just be prepared for a small space and you have to step up and down to get in the tub/shower.
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
