• Stephen (10/5): Wonderfully appointed - Everything was perfect. This is a beautiful property exceptionally well appointed . Great communication. It is maybe 7 minutes from Meinhen gate and 2 minutes from the museum and center of town Parking was close by and simple to navigate This would be out first choice for a second stay.

Freddy was very welcoming, we were visiting on a history trip and he was kind enough to give us an overview of the history of Ypres and recommend a few sites nearby.
• Hannah (10/5): Perfect location - Perfect location, just a minutes walk to the main square and 5 mins to Menin Gate. Spacious, well equipped and clean house. Cash deposit is a bit inconvenient now that we never carry or use cash but told in advance.

• Gert (10/5): Ideaal voor weekendje weg of een week - De netheid van het appartement,alles was er ook voor hand in keuken en badkamer,hartelijke ontvangst door de eigenaar,ook bij het vertrek,de locatie was ook ideaal.ook ideaal om een garage bij te huren,we mochten van de host de garage nog een half dagje extra gebruiken,zodat we de laatste dag nog wat extra in Ieper konden doorbrengen,de host super vriendelijke mens. Op Klein minpuntje ,weinig ruimte voor auto in en uit te laden.

• Jacqui (10/5): A great self catering base to explore this fascinating area. - We loved this place. Right in the heart of Ypres (view of the Cloth Hall from windows attached to review). There was safe on street parking all around (a bit complicated but the host explained) and easy access to the front door for drop off but we opted for the private garage nearby (25 euro). I’d have been happy to put my motorbike in the garage). Well stocked kitchen and a comfy lounge. We particular enjoyed talking with the host, who lives nearby, about the local history. There’s a Saturday market on the square where we bought food to cook/reheat in the apartment, plenty of local shops (including 7-11) nearby and all the restaurants on the main square to choose from only a few minutes walk from the front door. It wasn’t a problem for us, and my friend was a mobile 80 year old, but the two lots of stairs are quite narrow and steep.

Our train was badly delayed and the hosts were very kind and gave us a lift from the station to the house. There were a few issues communicating with the host via phone and whatsapp so we had to email via booking.com but that was resolved.

However, I think the sitting room could have been more comfortable as you couldn't sit 4 of us on the sofa and the other chair was more like a bedroom chair. The host was brilliant, so knowledgeable and very pleasant. He gave us some good recommendations of where to go and eat which we took him up on, so, thank you.

He explained everything the apartment had to offer and was very informative about the local region. We were able to store our bikes there. It's a 5 minute walk (max) to the Menen Gate. Thanks for a great stay Freddy, and I'll be back again for sure!
• Alexa (10/5): Welcoming and a wonderful experience. - It is centrally located in Ypres and is easily accessible. It is near the Cathedral and Park. Your a stones throw from the Cloth Hall, restaurants, Menin gate. You can walk around the ramparts which are around 3km and there are memorials along the way. The accommodation is faultless and every little detail is thought of. The owner is lovely and is a wealth of knowledge. They provide off road private parking if you require. The house is exceptionally clean and the beds are VERY comfortable. I would love to stay here again.

• Ken (10/5): BEST I'VE SEEN! - I loved everything. This place e is amazing. The owner meets you, walks you through all the facilities, and even made a dinner booking for us. Beds were super comfy, bathroom excellent, kitchen fully equipped, location could not have been better as it was a stones throw from everything, parking was just a block away in a lockable garage. There is a slight draw back. Two sets of steep stairs. That said, I was travelling with my 88 year old dad who uses a walking frame and he negotiated the stairs comfortably. They have slip resistant matting in them and are safe. Don't let this put you off booking here. It would be a big mistake.

The c;leanliness, the facilities in the accommodation and the friendliness of the owner. Couldn't have asked for more. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending, and should we ever decide to go back to Ypres, would certainly rebook. Nothing to dislike

• Gareth (10/5): Excellent, superb stay in quality accommodation in Ypres close to all attractions & amenities - Queen Astrid is in a fantastic location only a few minutes walk from all the main attractions in Ypres yet in a very quiet and peaceful location. The accommodation has all you need to cater for yourself and with a Carrefour supermarket only a few minutes walk away, this provides the option to do so without having to bring any provisions with you. The owner met us on arrival and departure and was eager to tell us about Ypres and the area which was very interesting, particularly the pre war history. He has a variety of books and leaflets/maps which are all very useful if not familiar with the area although the tourist information office is only a few mins walk away. A memorable stay and would fully recommend to others. Nothing not to like although it should be noted that access to the property and then upstairs to the bathroom and bedrooms are via quite steep staircases which could prove problematic if infirm.
• Roxanne (10/5): Exceptional accommodation - It is an absolutely beautiful place to stay when visiting Ieper/Ypres! The whole home is perfectly appointed. The beds were very comfortable; the kitchen was fully equipped, and the laundry facilities were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated every aspect of the home. The additional touches, such as the welcome bottle of champagne and the chocolates, fresh coffe, the maps, business cards of local restaurants, and the personal recommendations of the owners, Mr and Mrs Dewulf, made our stay even more special. There is nothing to not like.
• Nicola (10/5): Absolutely amazing and couldn't have asked for more. - The host was very kind and friendly. Rooms were a great size and beds huge and extremely comfortable. Everywhere was immaculately clean. Towels provided and very clean and soft. Toiletries provided which was great as one forgot their toothpaste. Great books to read in the living room, as well as games. Didn't use the TV but it's there if wanted to watch. Good amount of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen. 2 toilets- 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Dishwasher and washing machine. Quiet location away from the busy roads. Very accommodating. I actually don't think there was anything we didn't like about this property.

• Ariane (10/5): Excellent location and genuinely comfortable and superbly presented apartment with all the comforts. - Great location, clean apartment that was really well equipped. Thoughtful little touches such as providing coffee and tea so we didn't have to go out when we first arrived. Plenty of towels and very comfortable beds. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was much appreciated! The sitting room is equipped with chairs that you can actually relax on and the kitchen was well kitted out. The centre of town is literally a very short walk away so it was extremely well located near to restaurants, bars and coffee shops as well as a small supermarket but is nonetheless quiet. The two sets of stairs are quite steep so we had to be careful with elderly family members (we would still have booked it as they had non slip carpet on each step but others may want to be aware) and a rubber mat in the shower would have been useful to prevent slipping.

Quiet too, apart from the bells, which didn’t bother us at all! Plenty of room and added extras, like shampoo, toffees etc A lot of stairs in the property which could be a problem for some people with large suitcases and big feet, as they were also had a rathe narrow tread.

If you book the whole house then all beds should be made up regardless

Enough room to relax for 2 couples with facilities to be self sufficient should you wish though there are numerous bars and places to eat within easy walking distance. Stairs are steep which may be a problem for the elderly or young children
