- Sally (10/5): Fabulous rustic design, warm in the wild weather and with great views and balconies on every side. - Fabulous rustic design, warm in the wild weather and with great views and balconies on every side. We watched the sun go down the stars come out and the sun rise - beautiful despite how much the wind howled !! Everything you need to dine in style too.
- Todd (10/5): -
- Lachlan (10/5): Amazing - The location was stunning and it was so quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife roaming around
- Ann (9/5): Wonderful stay at the Tree house, would highly recommend staying here. - Very comfortable and spacious, lovely kitchen, great views.Short drive from Alonnah. Very private. Loved our stay here. Nothing. Bedroom upstairs a bit hard to get to if you needed to use a second bedroom, especially if you want to take luggage up there. ( they do tell you this). This didn’t bother us though as we had a lovely bed on the main floor.
- Michelle (10/5): Comfortable accommodation in a beautiful peaceful location - The Treehouse is totally original, a quirky, rustic house with beautiful views over the bay. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and was peaceful and quiet. It's a little out of the nearest town Alonnah so had no light pollution and we enjoyed looking at all the beautiful night sky and seeing all the exceptionally bright stars. We also loved watching the wallabies grazing in the garden. We like the use of recycled timber in the house structure and the use of an old gangplank from a shipwrecked vessel as the staircase to the mezzanine level.
- Michelle (9/5): Great location to experience Bruny Island and its natural beauty. - Great location with wonderful views and plenty of local wildlife to entertain. The house itself was very comfortable with excellent decks to escape outside to the view and wildlife. Not a lot of light interference so the night sky was very clear.
- Rüdiger (10/5): Eigentlich perfekt - Vollständige Ausstattung, sehr sauber, absolut ruhige Lage, Wildlife
- Peter (9/5): Great house with a lovely view. -
- Cheryl (10/5): - The house was very clean and well fitted out. The outlook was stunning. Nothing.
- Antonella (9/5): Great location for our weekend away - Comfortable with a great view Only down side was steep driveway
- Peter (10/5): A superb Bruny Island home - The location of the Tree House, so long as you have a car, is superb just on the edge of Alonnah. The outlook from the decks is lovely with wallabies grazing and it's extremely tranquil. Of all the places we've stayed in our 2 months round Australia this was the best equipped. Plentiful crockery, glassware, pots and pans meant that self catering was very easy and the hosts left a range of general items for use. The pre arrival information was very useful and though we didn't meet face to face everything was thought about and messages with the hosts were always clear. If you want to eat out Hotel Bruny is just down the road and has good beers too and we had lunch at the Winery which was good. Nothing to complain about at all. Recommended unreservedly!
- Jake (10/5): -
- Rachael (10/5): Peaceful location, gorgeous views, cosy beds, amazing kitchen - Rural feel, diversity of wildlife in the area, great for peaceful mornings on the balcony. The views were incredible, you can see the water from every window. An improvement would be something for hands to grip as you climb the stairs into the loft
- MONIQUE (10/5): -
- Elina (10/5): The Tree House is amazing getaway place to relax after long working week! - Stunning house with beautiful views from inside and balconies. Great location, clean, wildlife behind windows…
Everything was perfect!
- Robert (9/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): A great base to explore Bruny Island. - Great location, central on Bruny. Had absolutely everything we needed, plus more. Great views out the front across the channel to the snow-capped mountains, with the wallabies feeding in the front yard.
Very comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen. Nothing, it was fantastic.
- Ka Yan (9/5): -
- Bowring (9/5): v very unique building, vey functional and effective floor plan with great views. - loved the stair concept but needs a pair of strong side rails
- Olivia (6/5): Host was lovely. Everything was perfect for what we needed. Only thing is the ladder the upstairs felt very unsafe and s - Very cute place, loved the decks, views and easy to check in to Mainly the ladder to the upstairs. I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe coming up and down from there. I’m really not sure how that is allowed from a safety aspect
- Linda (9/5): Lovely getaway & very cozy on a cold night with fire roaring. - The privacy, views & amenities. Needed a clock.
- Brenda (7/5): Comfortable BUT not 2 bedrooms as advertised. - Views were awesome. Open plan bedrooms offered very little privacy. Not suitable for friends travelling. Ladder to loft bedroom dangerous and no indications in description of property - photo or notes.
- Sue-Anne (10/5): Amazing house - Amazing, spotless house with everything you could possibly need. A great location from which to explore Bruny. A lovely little walking track next to the water was only steps away.
- Carmelina (10/5): 100% a must stay here if coming to Bruny Isl. - EVERYTHING - house came with everything, even firewood & fireplace., BBQ, fully equiped kitchen & washing machine . View was amazing . House set in bushland.
Perfect for a couple. If more than 2, be aware that the upstairs is via a steep ladder & no railing - no need for us to venture there. We were aware about this from previous reviews.
This is an awesome property , look no further if coming to Bruny Island. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Nothing -it was amazing
- Jan (10/5): Wonderful accommodation with a sensational view. - Everything. Nothing.
- Ben (10/5): The enchanted treehouse - So many things to like The minute I pulled in the driveway It was like a fairy tale looking at that amazing treehouse The way it's been handcrafted is simply amazing The hosts a thought of everything right down to having wood pre-prepared for the fire The views spectacular to be able to lay in bed and look out at the amazing views around was amazing The local walking tracks were an extra bonus I would highly recommend the treehouse to anyone I think the only thing that could be changed would be to have a bigger TV And maybe a TV in the main bedroom but other than that was amazing
- Annette (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Great quiet location. Plenty of space. Wonderful views.
- Yasmin (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful - Everything beautiful house beautiful views Nothing
- Heather (9/5): Fabulous! - Location! The toaster was confusing for me.
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable home with exceptional views. Easy to stay longer!
- Roshi (10/5): Tranquility at Tree House - Great location and comfortable set up to enjoy the beautiful views. The place was comfortable and we could enjoy the island experience to the max. The patios were great to enjoy a cheese board and wine whilst listening to the birds and watching the wallabies all come out in the evenings. Honestly nothing to complain about. We had a great stay and I'd love to go back again.
You could stay with more people but for the 2 of us it was great to have the place to ourselves.
- Beth (9/5): Gorgeous home with views and all the comforts you need to enjoy and explore this beautiful island. - A wonderful secluded oasis with everything you need to be warm and comfortable. all was great
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- Danka (8/5): Exquisite home in the wilds with terrific panoramic views suitable for a couple. - Stunning location and views, excellent lounge kitchen bathroom facilities. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Very relaxing environment with great access to tourist venues and lots of wildlife.
However, the upstairs loft bedroom accessed by steep ladder is extremely unsafe for over 50s or children. Climbing steep ladder stair in middle of night is scary as hell and I did try to sleep on the floor & lounge on subsequent night.
- Forest (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -
- Sue (9/5): Perfect comfortable accommodation for a 2 night Island exploration - Fabulous views & comfortable studio set up in downstairs section of rustic holiday home. Welcomed a kitchen with good cookware (not that we utilised a lot of it!).
Saw some native wildlife including pink breasted robin on the block during our stay.
Clean & tidy - comfortable couch!
Always appreciate having a decent lamp.
- Nev (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Amazing views - Pure relaxation with panoramic views. A wonderful house to enjoy the beautiful water views and a great place for star gazing too.
Well stocked kitchen, great sized fridge and comfy bedding.
The photos don't do the house justice. Would definitely stay again. Many reviews mention the stairs to the loft bedroom. I loved the look of the stairs however I wouldn't want to be navigating them in the middle of the night. Definitely best to sleep downstairs as instructed.
- Aidan (6/5): We'll go elsewhere next time. - Nice outlook. Good kitchen and lounge. Some kitchen spices/sauces and milk were provided. The stairs to the loft bedroom were terrible and potentilly dangerous, especially accessing the toilet at night. Surprised they have been approved and by the 5 star rating. The downstairs windows above the bed have no curtains or blinds making it difficult to sleep after about 5.30am.
- Gregor (10/5): Stunning place - Everything about it
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (10/5): Fabulous spot, 3 days not enough! - Stunning views, beautiful home, proximity of walking and wildlife Nothing!
- Sabine (9/5): Great views - Perfectly set up.
Brilliant location and views Nothing
- Rana (10/5): Gorgeous house - Gorgeous house with great views. Great value and would highly recommend to anyone staying at Bruny island. I used the bread maker with ingredients I found at the house and had great results. My only regret is that I didn’t book it for a couple of nights.
- Ana (9/5): Superb - The sensational views. It's a really comfortable, fully equipped holiday house. We loved watching the wallabies grazing from the deck. Nothing, really. It suited us two really well. The second bed is up a very steep ladder, but the views from up there are even better.
- Lee (9/5): Superb -
- Dee (9/5): Beautiful spot to escape the 21st century. - Large glass windows looking onto bush land & ocean
- Maria (10/5): Fantastic stay in a beautiful part of the world -
- Bronwyn (6/5): Do not book if you need to use the second bedroom. - The views and location on the edge of town but with a real bush feel to it. Review - The Tree House Alonnah
This could have been a positive review but for one major thing. The property is marketed as a 2 bedroom house. Yes it is - but to access the upstairs bedroom (essentially in an attic), it is necessary to use a steep LADDER with no rails. The treads are angled down. There was no indication on the property description that you needed to have the agility of a monkey to access the second bedroom.
After being asked by the host in a message to use only the downstairs bedroom (set in an open plan lower floor), and informing the host that the second bed was required despite there being only two of us, there was no indication given of the unsafe access. I would find it amazing that the ladder could be a lawfully approved means of access.
It would also be almost impossible to take a suitcase up there.
The photos on the booking.com website do not include the ladder access to the upper floor. Nor does the property description include any reference to the manner of access, the inference being a regular staircase would be installed.
After seeing the layout, I was so concerned about the safety risks that I arranged for my friend to stay elsewhere at additional cost. A very disappointing and annoying result in what could be described as an otherwise pleasant property, well equipped with lovely views (although be very careful of the local wildlife from dusk).
I do not recommended The Tree House if you need to access the second bedroom.
- David (10/5): Couldn't have been better -
- Paul (9/5): Great views, beautiful home and very peaceful - The location was stunning. It was spacious, very comfortable and beautiful views. On arrival it had not been cleaned or prepared for our stay. However, this was rectified promptly by the owner.
- Norm (10/5): Wonderful -
- Jane (7/5): Gorgeous location. Suitable for a couple only unless privacy and steep ladder aren't an issue - Quiet location.
Gorgeous views through the house's many windows and decks.
Wallabies and pademelons visit the garden.
At the bottom of the driveway you can access a path which is mostly flat and goes into the town of Alonnah (about 15 min walk)
Very clean * It is NOT two bedrooms. It is a completely open-plan house with the only internal door being to the bathroom. One bed is in the same room as the kitchen, dining table and living space. One bed is located on a platform (no walls) up a very steep ladder. Noise and light travels throughout the space.
* Gets very hot with the sun on the windows which mainly face west and north. Some of the windows have fly screens but not enough to cool the house down. There are blinds on most (not all) windows but then that blocks the main feature of the house (the view). There is air con but it was very noisy and not effective at reducing the heat on the mezzanine platform.
- Penny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsty (9/5): Superb -
- Yvonne (10/5): Quite, pieceful and relaxing, We ate in most meals and the kitchen easy to use with all amenities - great location, was out of the way but close enough at the same time. The view as fantastic, the layout of the house was great and amenities clean, easy to use and well cared for. You could tell it was a loved property It was only my husband and me there, so we didnt use the bedroom up the ladder. I didnt like the ladder arrangement, it was very steep and didnt feel quite safe enough. Would worry with small children or older people. Would be tricky to navigate in the dark. For the two of us it didnt effect us but would book with children. Only think we could fault.
- 하상은 (10/5): Exceptional - Great everything.. cant wait to go back Nothing. Hope u keep it forever so that I can visit!
- Jan (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (8/5): Very well equipped house, charming and quirky, lovely view. - Delightful house on Bruny Island, lovely location, quiet and comfortable. Although this was not a problem for us, for more than 2 guests the second bedroom is accessed by very steep stairs, more like a ladder, which is not for the faint-hearted.
- Renelle (9/5): The Tree House is a spacious, well appointed retreat with stunning views - The Tree House is well designed to capture the incredible water & wilderness views from nearly any window. We even had a mumma wallaby with Joey come visit us for breakfast.
The house is well appointed with making it extremely comfortable & livable, no matter the weather.
The owners are thoughtful with communication & attention to detail, making our stay so easy & enjoyable.
Highly recommend
- Shirley (8/5): totally relaxing and comfortable - all facilities to make me feel like home just a small blind to block out light early morning above the bed
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): We had a lovely stay at the Treehouse - very quiet and secluded, but with great views of the sea and surrounding bush - - Views, quiet, seclusion, decor Nil
- Clive (10/5): The family loved It. Son had the upstairs room as access was via a wide almost vertical ladder - The property was outstanding, as it was winter they had laid the fire in the wood burner which lit instantly on the one occasion we used. Wonderful views, bright and airy property with good access and parking. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was modern, had tea coffee and lots of extras. The signage outside the property was very difficult to see both day and night which did give us problems finding. A Solar powered light might fix this?
- Rebecca (10/5): ideal getaway - want for nothing… Everything you could possibly want regarding (facilities/ crockery/ condiments/ scenery etc) is provided for you- right there.
loved waking up to the wild life & 360 views while having an expresso coffee :)
the stairs inside the tree house made it a “the tree house” and also had a lovely view from that bedroom.
hosts were lovely and accommodating before and after our stay. I left something sentimental there (I didn’t realize until AFTER I left & they contacted me) then they went out of their way to return it to me- wish I could’ve stayed longer, but I will definitely be back!
thank you :)
- Russell (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location and views exceeded our expectations. Spacious house with a great atmosphere. Nothing.
- Kim (10/5): Welcoming, warm, clean, views and feeling of calmness. Loved The Tree House. - The Tree House offers exquisite views across the channel to the mainland, the property is beautifully maintained, and it was warm when entered the house. It feels calm from the moment you arrive - the design of the home just works.
The pantry is great if you need condiments, the fire was set. Welcoming.
- Noel (10/5): magic stay - the situation. the actual property was amazing and very thoughtful. nothing. was excellent
- Shelley (10/5): peace and private - beautiful location. lots of wildlife snd birds we only stayed 4 days. wish it was longer!
- Franz (9/5): Fantastic view, lovely rustic place. -
- Julia (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Carolyn (6/5): Loved the views, and location, the bush around us. Pleasant - Location and views. A separate toilet and another bathroom when staying with 4 adults. A screen down stairs for some privacy in the bedroom area. Maybe a pic, the stairs are very steep. Didn't even attempt to try and get my bag up.
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - We are very enjoying during the stay. The house is stunning with a lovely fire stove for warmth at night time and we love it so much.
It’s also fully equipped for whole family gathering.
A quiet and private place also fit for honeymoon 😄 Non
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Shea (9/5): A simply stunning place to stay. - The kitchen pantry contained everything you'd need in the way of condiments, plus ample supplies of coffee, tea and sugar. A coffee machine and bread maker were on offer too.
There were lots of nice touches, but the best part was watching the wallabies in the back garden one evening, and having 4 of them sit nearby as we had breakfast. Magic place. Nothing.
- Julie (9/5): We loved our stay at The Treehouse and hope to return one day. - Apart from the natural beauty all around Tasmania, The Treehouse was the highlight of our 2 week trip. The accomodation was wonderful. The house and the views were amazing and impossible to capture in photos. We had two delicious meals at the nearby Hotel Bruny but as we loved being at the house, wished we’d been more organised with our own food to cook. It was great to have a good walk from the house. We were lucky to see a white wallaby just up the road on the first evening at dusk. Hopefully we will return one day for a longer stay at this beautiful property. It was a bit tricky to keep putting the key back into the safe but this was a minor thing. I hated leaving!
- Damien (10/5): Beautiful location and house....the photos dont do it justice! - Location was magnificent. The house was even more amazing in real life. We just wished we booked to stay longer! We just wish we had booked to stay more than one night!
- Simon (9/5): Brilliant, a great place to stay. - Superb location, with great views and a beautiful house. I liked everything. The only minor issue was the stairs up to the bedroom, located in the middle of the open space area downstairs, which may be an issue for some people. Nevertheless its a superb property in a great location.
- Julie (10/5): what a place to stay you don’t want to leave home it’s so nice and what a view thanks so much - the balcony and the view was fantastic nothing
- John (5/5): We were disappointed with the sleeping arrangements of the property. - We liked the location. A choice of verandas to sit outside. There is no privacy! The bedrooms are not in separate rooms. One bed is on the ground level in the kitchen/dining/living room. The other bed is on an open mezzanine floor. The access to this bed is by a very steep basic wooden ladder with no handrails. We are in our 70’s and I believe this is dangerous. The only bathroom/toilet is on the ground floor!
- Michael (9/5): well located good accommodation in the middle of all the places you want to visit - well appointed
- Annick (8/5): very enjoyable - The house was very clean, we enjoyed watching the view from the deck. we only spent one night but could have definitely stay longer. The stair leading to the mezzanine were too steep for older people or very young people. however everything else was impeccable.
- Robyn (8/5): Very good -
- Gail (10/5): My son and I treated ourselves to two days in the middle of a 22 day Campervan trip and this was perfect - The design of the home with it’s beautiful water views from every room was stunning our only concern was the vibration from the washing machine
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Crystal (10/5): Exceptional - the property with great facilities no flyscreens
- David (10/5): Superb property, nice peaceful location a great place to relax and take in the atmosphere. - This is a superb property in a very nice location, so peaceful and relaxing with great views. There’s nothing not to like about this place.
- Heather (9/5): Beautiful retreat in a central location to Bruny's best. - The location is exceptional. Large bush block and 180 degree water views at a midway point on Bruny Island. Beds are comfortable and the house is equipped with coffee machine and breadmaker. The lamps beside both beds are useless for reading (a real book).
It was not an issue for us, but prospective guests should be aware that neither bed is in a private room - the loft has visual privacy but still is open plan noise wise. Also, for older guests, or those with mobility limitations, the [wonderful] old ship's staircase may be daunting.
- Rosemary (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): Spectacular location. Fully equipped for a most enjoyable weeks stay. -
- Hence (10/5): stunning views, very comfy, unique spot! - stunning views, very nice and original house, absolutely unique. super clean and comfy!
- Janelle (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location with amazing view from every direction.
- Georgina (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (7/5): Good -
- Fairlie (6/5): Pleasant -
