- Alex (10/5): Dunkeld House exceeded our expectations in every way, and we would happily return. Highly recommended for families or an - The country-style home truly felt like a home away from home—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully set up for a comfortable family stay.
The property was exceptionally clean, spacious, and very child-friendly, which made settling in effortless. Its quiet location just a few minutes out of town offered the perfect balance of privacy and convenience. Waking up to the magnificent views of Mt Sturgeon and Mt Abrupt each day was a highlight in itself.
One of the most memorable aspects for our family was the abundance of native wildlife right at our doorstep. Seeing animals up close provided endless entertainment for the kids and added a special touch that really captured the charm of the area. Nothing
- Nadia (10/5): Peaceful & cosy with everything you need for a wonderful weekend aaway. - Everything - this house has everything you will need. It is has 3 king beds, a fireplace & firewood, a beautiful kitchen with everything you need, outdoor area with games & swing for the kids and kangaroos that visit in the afternoon as well as a beautiful mountain view. It’s far enough away from everything to enjoy the peace but close enough to the Dunkeld gems, like the bakery (OMG the croissants are a must) & Izzy’s cafe. And the hosts are amazing - so responsive & accommodating. We will definitely be returning!! Nothing!

I had to chase up the staff on this..as it wasn't recognised on my info sent to me..
Meant to check out at 12.. was told cleaners are coming,so can do 11 30... when you pay for a booking...I shouldn't have to ask if it's ok.....that was abit disappointing... other than that... the house itself is perfect!

- Peter (10/5): Brilliant! - Beautifully styled and spacious.
Loved the location across the road from the reserve with the evening arrival of the kangaroos.
The mamas and their joeys in pouch were gorgeous!
So close to the Royal Mail Hotel an absolute bonus as well as proximity to the Old Bakery.
This is our second stay and would highly recommend for couples as well as family stays. Nothing.
- Peter (10/5): Brilliant! - Everything Nothing
- Gary (9/5): Wonderful - We provided our own breakfast Everything was great
One guest killed a white tail in a loo roll in the middle of the night!! No trauma. Just a talking point with the English couple in our party.
- Ruth (10/5): Lovely Property - Very well equipped
- Mikhail (10/5): Exceptional - We truly felt at home. So much so that we skipped our Great Ocean Road trip the next day and just stayed in, grilled some meat, and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere.

- Mark (10/5): A superb, comfortable place to stay with great views of the mountains beyond. - Dunkeld House is a real gem. I loved my two night stay here, the house is nicely located on a quiet road with beautiful views of the mountains beyond the oval. Kangaroos hop down the road to graze on the oval every night. It is a spacious and very well thought out space with every comfort needed. I also liked being able to pick the fresh herbs in the garden. Thank you for a great stay. Everything was superb.
- David (9/5): This house is certainly a little surprise package! Gorgeous ambience, decor, location. - Peaceful location, gorgeous decor, ambience was fantastic overlooking countryside, log fire extra warm, size and comfort of bedding, kitchen facilities. Nothing.
- Dhanushka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anja (9/5): Superb - Place was warm and welcoming and everything was easy to use with instructions provided. Lights were on and the heater going which was nice. The place was sparkling clean and in really good condition and very tastefully decorated. There could have been more essentials provided in the kitchen. It's a fully equipped kitchen but there was no vinegar or spices and the only oil was a spray.
In the bathroom, shampoo and bodywash were provided however in a generic bottle so I wasn't able to know what ingredients were in the bottle.
There was no coffee table in the lounge room.
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsty (10/5): The perfect home away from home - It was so welcoming and so easy. We loved that the fire was ready to light and all heaters were on and lighting was calm and peaceful to walk into. We all felt so at home. Nothing we would stay back there in a heart beat

This attention to detail ensures warmth and comfort throughout the stay, enhancing the overall experience The toilet requires an upgrade, and the keyless entry isn't always dependable. It'd be helpful if the emergency contact was more prominently displayed. Despite receiving four letters, it was challenging to locate the correct contact number. We were outside the house for 45 minutes trying to find the right number to gain entry.
- Theo (8/5): Very good -

The hosts are wonderful and answered a question we had on the main lounge heater quickly. Kangaroos frequently graze nearby and many birds can be seen and heard. House is setup with modern tech which makes arrival and departure easy. Highly recommended.
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (5/5): Overly expensive at $560. Lacking in luxury items. Some trip hazards. Some heating inside broken. Disappointing. - Nice location. Quiet. Pretty disappointed actually. For $560 a night I was expecting a lot more like those little luxury items that make it special. They werent there.
Sure you have a smart house that has all the basics covered but where were those luxury items that you usually get for expensive places?
1) Coffee. The jar was full of vanilla, caramel, cream flavors but no coffee and after a search I found a couple of actual coffee pods top of kitchen cabinet. But then no choc to shake on top of a cappuchino.
2) A nice deep bath but where were the bath salts apart from some old remains in a jar.
3) A broken reverse cycle in lounge so no heating other than wood fire. When i realised this it was dark and im not going outside to get firewood then and try to get a fire going. Besides anyone suffering from asthma or similar would not want a wood fire.
4) Cold bare floors and by investing in some rugs it would make it more homely and comfortable.
You also have a number of unfixed/poorly fixed safety hazards.
1) Wet slippery bathroom due to no drain installed.
2) Broken cracked uneven concrete paths.
3) Cheap poly pipe attached to A/C unit sticking out into pathway.
Sending twice weekly emails the size of a novel on how to operate a smart house, rules and regulations and what to do in Dunkeld takes away from the whole experience of enjoying a visit.
And then having cameras front and rear watching what you do just ruins it.
- Emily (9/5): so perfect after an overnight hike! - The space, size for our group. it was very home like & cosy. The split systems turned on at one point the night we were there in the bedroom to the right & we didn’t know which control to use?
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - It had absolutely everything we needed. so warm and cosy, plenty for the kids to do, fabulous views and the fire was the cherry on top. we also had a tonne of kangaroos visit in the morning and evening which was simply beautiful nothing to fault, they honestly have thought of everything
- Cristiano (10/5): Exceptional - the house is wonderful and well furnished
- Kathy (10/5): Exceptional - Great home. Tastefully decorated, very well equipped with everything we needed and more. Beds were comfortable. It was very clean and we would recommend it to anyone
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ammaniar (9/5): Superb - The Dunkeld House is a hidden gem for young families or even a small group of adults. We, including our kids (8yr and 5yr old) had a wonderful time. My mum loved it too... Awesome country location - Home away from home 🏡
Above all, Jackie and Jarrod have been extremely informative and helpful - Thanks to the technology 👍 It is not that we didn't like anything, but a small room for improvement could be an additional restroom, even outside the house should suffice, I guess - just a suggestion.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A most relaxing stay with all the comforts of home. - Clean and fresh and extremely well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. Home away from home! Nothing
