Guest Reviews
- Jen (8/5): - All good Nothing
- Christopher (10/5): - Great place to stay with the family. Close to main street. Usually stay in motels but will look at homes like this one for now on. Nothing
- Marina (10/5): Enjoyed the convenient location, a short walk to the Main Street of Tamworth. The home has lots of space for our family - Good location, clean, comfortable, well maintained and well equipped with everyday needs. Nothing
- Tracey (10/5): Perfect location and very comfortable. - It was a home away from home. It had everything we needed and they were very generous with everything.
- Jan (10/5): Every room was wonderful. It had 2 TV areas. 2 showers and a lovely dining area. The food supplied for breakfast was hea - The property was large and comfortable. The beds were great and the kitchen was wonderfully large. We loved the outdoor area and it had room for up to 4 cars undercover. Excellent It was lovely. Nothing we didn’t like.
- Glenn (10/5): - A comfortable property, very well equipped, plenty of room, and a short walk to town. Nothing
- Joelene (10/5): - Breakfast provided was enough for each morning and a little extra! Beautiful, comfortable style and design.
- Barbara (10/5): - The accomodation was clean, well presented, the breakfast was great, and there was also staples in the cupboard (eg. flour, various sauces etc). All the little things were thought of - like the BBQ, plenty of dinnerware, glasses and cutlery.
- Mark (9/5): Fantastic - Large rooms, great location and facilities Everything was great
- Karen (9/5): Short term stay - Whole house to self, large house and very comfortable.
Breakfast (bacon, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, bread and pantry items) supplied were great.
Off street parking.
Outside area with bbq
Has washing machine/dryer and clothesline.
Close to Anzac park and walkable to city centre (too hot for us to do this)
Water pressure in shower ok, 2 showers and toilets in house, albeit one of each is in laundry. Nothing.
- Alistair (5/5): Good location but would not stay again - Nicely decorated and styled Did not like the fact that the second bathroom was the laundry with no basin
Should be 1 1/2 bathrooms advertised- we would not have rented this had we known
Also very dark and needed more kitchen lights
- Karen (10/5): Home away from home - Very comfortable clean location was great
- Beverley (10/5): - Oh wow, the breakfast that was left there for us♡ Magnificent rooms, whole house was superb.
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Ash (10/5): -
- Kim W (8/5): Comfortable Stay - Rawsons Retreat was very comfortable and welcoming with breakfast included which was great.. The location of property is in a quiet area and was close to Peel St (main shopping street) in Tamworth. A short drive to the Golden Guitar. The food supply provided was an added bonus and much appreciated. There could have been more firewood provided for both nights we stayed. There was only enough for 1 night and a small amount for the 2nd night.
- Wayne (9/5): Fantastic period property. Well maintained and a really great place to stay when exploring the area. - The breakfast was enormous! More than catered for the family. The property is a credit to the owners. The beds / bedrooms were all comfortable and well equipped. The lounge / dining area was great for the 6 of us and while we didn't use the combustion fire it was well provisioned with kindling, fire starters etc.
The kitchen / pantry was well equipped with everything required at hand and all clean.
Whilst we didn't walk to town the property is close enough to do so. We loved the ambiance of an older property but the lighting in the kitchen was less than adequate for 70 year olds.
The group consensus is we are all happy to return though.
- Janise (10/5): Its not cheap, but we would definitely stay again - Breakfast was exceptional, including well stocked pantry. The location is great, just a short walk from Peel Street. The house is nicely renovated, clean tidy and very homely. We found some of the rooms very dark and there wasn't quite enough wood for the fire in a pretty cold few days.
- Jeremy (8/5): Very good - Lots of space clean and cosy
- Deb (9/5): Clean, comfortable and well equipped country style home - Beds were very comfy. Fireplace was great for the evenings and the bedrooms had good heating. Shower in main bathroom was fantastic. Kitchen was a good size and had everything we needed to cook our own meals. Breakfast was good. Garage/driveway also good size and fit 2 cars easily. About a 10minute walk into the main street. Lighting could be better. 2nd bathroom/laundry was very small/cramped and nowhere to put toiletry bags.
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trent (10/5): Exceptional Country Accommodation - Sensational accommodation, would grab again for sure, one of the best we have ever stayed in Nothing
- Cara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - We had the pleasure of staying at Rawson's Retreat during a recent work trip, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The breakfast provided was absolutely wonderful — fresh, generous, and thoughtfully prepared, making a perfect start to our busy days.
All the facilities were incredibly comfortable and well-maintained, offering a welcoming environment that felt like a home away from home. From the cozy rooms to the quiet, restful atmosphere, everything was just right for both relaxation and productivity.
Highly recommend this place for anyone travelling for business or leisure — we’ll definitely be back!
- Jordan (9/5): Superb -
- Jeanette (9/5): Comfortable place but needs to be advertised as 4 bedroom if you are going to lock one - Homely cottage great outside area Its only 4 bedroom not five so some of family had to share
- Tania (8/5): Tb holiday. - Excellent location. And great breakfast 😋. Very clean. I would recommend the retreat, and I would stay again myself. Plenty off room. I only booked a 4 bedroom not 5. The toilet roll holder was broken in the bathroom, so that needs to be fixed. Some off The beds were abit hard. 🙄
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional - A gorgeous renovated heritage property! Very spacious and well equipped. Beds were very comfortable and loved the big breakfast provided. Thank you for a lovely stay and would highly recommend!
- Shaye (10/5): Our New Tamworth Fav - We loved how clean and comfortable the property was—everything was thoughtfully set up and made our stay feel easy and relaxing. Nothing to fault—our stay was perfect from start to finish
- Foley (10/5): I would highly recommend staying at Rawsons Retreat. -
- Bianca (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - Clean and comfortable beautiful linen and well stocked kitchen.
- David (9/5): The stay was perfect no other way to describe - Overall, the property suited three generations of my family . My parents in their 80s my wife and I in our 50s and my children in their 20s we were all extremely happy with our stay and spent the first hour on arrival walking around the house in all of how beautiful it was and how comfortable it was for the price Just one little thing I was unable to find any dishwasher tablets
- Tracey (9/5): Great stay in a great property. - Rawson's retreat exceeded our expectations - it was close to the town centre, yet in a very quiet location. The host was responsive to queries and the booking process straightforward. The property was clean, comfortable and well maintained and breakfast supplies were well stocked. We would definitely stay here again.
- Benita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jordan (10/5): Exceptional house, very tidy. Fridge was well stocked. - Awesome location and house. It had everything we needed and more. Nothing
- Kerry (10/5): Large luxurious country house with exceptional ammenities. - Exception in every way. We were all blown away by this house and its inclusions. It is large and very well laid out and had every item you could ever imagine you would need on a holiday. The house would easily cater for large groups. There were two living area with TVs in both. All rooms were air conditioned. The two bedrooms we used had beautiful comfy beds with quality linen and bedding. The main bathroom had a wonderful claw foot bath and separate overhead shower with great pressure. The kitchen had a number of unexpected pantry items which were very much appreciated as well as a supplied breakfast for four x two days. We enjoyed the roomy undercover outdoor area that adjoined the lovely cottage garden area. The garage was huge and could easily fit 4 cars. Thank you for an amazing stay.

- Mark (10/5): Wonderful place - Location was perfect, home was exceptional, the pantry was stocked with everything from coffee to cooking oil, even kindling and timber to get us going with the amazing log fire. All rooms had aircon/heating. Nothing. The place was amazing.
- Paula (10/5): Relaxing, cozy, affordable and great amenities. - Was a perfect space to use for our work trip. It allowed everyone to have their own space but could meet and work together when needed. The property was lovely and clean and included great amenities. Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Fabulous home close to town 5 Star - Exceptional home, super clean, incredibly comfortable. Beautiful beds and linens. Fabulous fire place with sufficient wood. Very clean BBQ. - Norrish (10/5): Exceptional - Such a comfortable house, super comfy beds, plenty of space for 2 families.
- Charlie (10/5): Location, quality and comfort. - Fantastic location and house was extremely well equipped. Rooms were all comfortable. Breakfast supplies provided sufficient food for each person and utilising the BBQ made for a great start to all 3 mornings Nothing and everyone agreed when we left it was a great stay.
- Anne-marie (10/5): Perfect - Neat, clean, comfortable, everything one could want staying in Tamworth Nil
- Gaskell (10/5): Exceptional - We have just had a wonderful 3 nights at Rawsons Retreat. Thankyou to Robyn a great host. What a beautiful home. Spotlessly clean and so comfortable. Great location as well. Thankyou Robyn We loved Rawson Retreat would love to come back to your beautiful home and city. Kay and 7 senior friends. Everything was perfect including the breakfast that was supplied for us.
- Wayne (9/5): I highly recommend Rawsons Retreat - spacious, well decorated, great position, and well priced. - What a great place to catch up with old school friends. Robyn, as host, was Location was great (note - there is a bit of a hill to walk up from the shops). Bedrooms were a good size, nicely decorated, good lighting and we all had comfy beds. Five vehicles easily fit on the property and three of us were on motorcycles so we appreciated the undercover and secure off street parking. Plus, I have to mention the awesome breakfast provisions - a very generous amount and more than enough for our three night stay (see picture). I highly recommend Rawsons Retreat. If I'm being picky .... the lighting in the kitchen could be better but that's all I can think of!
- Karen (9/5): We had a very comfortable stay and the location so close to the town centre was perfect. Would certainly stay again if - Very comfortable bedrooms all 3 utilised either individual air conditioning.
Lovely living spaces
Plentiful hot water
Extremely generous breakfast and plentiful crockery/cutlery/glassware and cookware
Great off street parking House was quite dark (big verandah/back awning) and lights necessary in some rooms during the day.
- Garry (10/5): Superb accommodation for large gatherings - Great location an easy walk to the city centre. The provided breakfast food catered for all our needs.
We had 4 cars so to have off street parking for all our cars was great. The undercover back patio was excellent for outdoor entertainment as the weather was great when we stayed. There was nothing we didn’t like but as a five bedroom accommodation a third bathroom would have been handy. We didn’t utilise the small sitting room in the middle of the house as the main lounge dining room and outdoor area was more than enough space . Half the sitting room could be converted to a bathroom if utilities accessible underneath. But other travellers might like that room for some time out from other guests.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional - House had everything you could need. Very well appointed. All rooms were immaculately clean. Robyn was very easy to contact and deal with.A plus..would book again. Nothing at all
- Oliver (9/5): Great place for a family getaway - Spacious clean property. Old fashioned in a good way. Well equipped. A nice touch was a supply of basic staples if you wanted to cook. Great outdoor area with BBQ. Only downside was no ensuite’s
- Brendan (9/5): Superb -
- Timothy (10/5): Definitely the best accommodation I’ve encountered and would recommend to anyone - It was very clean, spacious and comfortable and we were able to make use of the barbecue and outdoor space. The property provided all that was needed and more All bedroom air conditioning units didn’t seem to be as cold at 22 degrees as the main living room unit otherwise everything else was fantastic
- Anderson (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Loved everything. There is nothing to pick out as a fault, saving up holiday time so we can go again. When I go back to Tamworth, I will only stay here. Was 100 metres to be in the cdb, jokingly of course. . Was quiet despite the cbd being so close.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): We used for a bridal party to prepare for a wedding. Just perfect. - Easy for everyone to come and go with the lock box.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Brett (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (9/5): FANTASTIC PROPERTY - Everything was wonderful...especially the breakfast provisions. Nothing. My elderly parents were supposed to come with us, so it would have been useful to have an ensuite for them. If they had come, the bathroom was a bit far away from their bedroom and we would have been relegated to the shower and toilet in the laundry.
- Lucas (8/5): Very good -
- James (9/5): We loved staying here and will be back - Atmosphere and facilities. Especially the fireplace. The breakfast supplies are amazing.
- Farrugia (10/5): Awesome Accommodation - We loved everything about this property. It is clean, spacious with character. The breakfast items were very much appreciated. It is walking distance to the shops and close to a lovely park.
It is worth coming to Tamworth just to stay in this beautiful house. Having to leave after 3 nights!
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Good location. Spacious house. Great breakfast supplies. Plenty of off street parking. Lack of natural light - a little on the dark side.
- Nicola (9/5): Superb - Very well appointed, walking distance from town centre, quiet location. Great outdoor eating area with all the amenities one would need! Thank you we enjoyed our stay!
- Rose (10/5): exceptional - good location, comfortable and beautiful home none
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Warrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (9/5): Girls weekend away! - The house was huge and had EVERYTHING we needed. Very clean and comfortable, with every bedroom having its own A/C. The included breakfast was beautiful and much appreciated.
Great location, easy check in process, undercover parking. Very little… The remote to the A/C in the lounge room was on its way out and a bit hard to use.
- Pamela (10/5): It was a fantastic place to stay. The house was all that anyone could want - spacious bedrooms - Fantastic location; amazing variety on the breakfast menu No faults at all
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - Robyn was extremely helpful and easy to talk to.
The property has adequate safe storage for vehicles and plenty of space for all using the home.
Everyone enjoyed staying at Rawsons Retreat
- Jim (10/5): Excellent - Breakfast was exceptional. Location was fantastic. Nothing....
- Deb (10/5): Home away from home - The house was big enough for all 6 guests. There was ample room for all.
We loved walking around the local streets and admiring the other well maintained, historic homes.
It was close enough for shopping, when required, but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet.
The home was clean and well presented with beautiful towels and linen.
The supplied breakfast was wonderful and it was so relaxing, eating in the outdoor area.
Thank you!
- Rebecca (10/5): Amazing accommodation, felt just like home. - We loved everything about this property. It is large enough for multiple families. It has everything you will need for your stay and more. It was meticulously clean. The location is great. The breakfast provided was fantastic.
- Dermie (10/5): Exceptional - clean. very good breakfast selection. homely needs 1 more bathroom
- Margie (10/5): definitely a home away from home - very clean very spacious close to town
also it felt very homey had been booked into hotels for last 3 weeks and this was just perfect nothing serious but I like a tv in my room
- Antonia (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (8/5): great location - central to everything. Large house
- John (9/5): Superb - Rawson's Retreat is in a very good, central location in Tamworth. The large gracious old house allowed our family group to "spread-out" and also be together at varying times. The laundry doubles as a second bathroom, with shower and toilet. Self catering is easy, and there seemed to be plenty of condiments, oils, etc. to assist with that (although some were nearly empty - not sure if housekeeping had overlooked keeping them topped-up, or if they were just random left-overs from previous guests). The barbeque was a generous size and easy to use in the covered outdoor area. Undercover parking for several vehicles is at the rear of the property, with covered access to the back-door (appreciated as it was raining heavily at times). The bed-linen was good quality and the beds were comfortable queens and two king-singles in the bedrooms that were unlocked for our use.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Kym (10/5): Highly highly recommend this house. - This house is beautiful. The rooms and beds are great. The breakfast supplied is outstanding. If you are thinking of booking this house. Think no more and just book it. You will be so happy you did. All absolutely perfect. Don't need this section.
