Guest Reviews
- Huong Giang Nguyen (9/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the ambience of the cottage and location. - A lovely cottage with charm and open fire completed the atmosphere. Very comfortable and perfect spot for a relaxed getaway. Handy to Katoomba for restaurants and needs. The steps up through the garden were a small challenge for me but I do have a crook leg. Would not be a problem for able people.
- Alice (7/5): -
- Ron (7/5): Good for a large family - Large enough for a family. Had a nice ‘ mountain feel’. Access and steps for people with mobility issues was difficult. Driveway has no room for turn around. Host Tracey was excellent! Driveway and steps

- Rebecca (7/5): - Layout, location, quiet
- Lauren (8/5): -

- Ashley (9/5): A beautiful home to discover and relax in - thanks for the chance of sharing this space - Beautiful location and a gorgeous house - thanks for the opportunity of sharing this space.
- Mark (9/5): Cozy Cottage - We like the location quiet and peaceful. -No privacy for the bottom floor toilet. People can see through from outside windows at night.
-The driveway is a bit too narrow and rough to drive in and out.
- Karine (9/5): -
- Penelope (10/5): Lovely spot for 5 friends to spend a couple of nights exploring the area. - The position, beautiful gardens, excellent facilities and general ambiance of this beautiful home.
- Jennifer (5/5): Only two bedrooms accessible from inside house - Overall we were pleased with the house and the gardens. We were very disappointed that one of the bedrooms was only accessible by going outside and around the house. The sliding door to that bedroom kept coming off the tracks so everyone scrunched into the two bedrooms upstairs. We would have found different accommodations if we understood that one bedroom was completely separate and not accessible from inside the house.
- Claire (6/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - the lodge is beautiful with lovely decor, fantastically comfortable beds and the location is perfect.
- Yesmin (8/5): -
- Wanna (8/5): It's a cosy house and we enjoyed our stay in the beautiful Blue Mountains. - The garden setting and the place feels cosy. We were welcomed by the greenery and beautiful flowers before stepping onto the wrap around verandah so we already feeling pretty good before we even step foot into the house. Inside was clean and cosy, nothing fancy but well appointed. The rooms are spacious and quiet so we had a decent sleep. The house is very much tucked in from the main street. Driving in and out of the parking space is not the easiest. The keys are not very easy to open the doors (especially for the room downstair) probably because we are not used to it. It would be great if upstair has another bathroom.
- PAUL (1/5): Horrible - We stayed 2 nights during a heat wave and couldn’t get any sleep- it was like trying to sleep in an oven
- Liz (9/5): A very enjoyable stay in lovely surroundings. -
- Alexander (9/5): - Very nice lodge wih everything that is needed for a comfy stay. Nicely located with lots of greenery around and it has a well maintained garden. Rooms were clean and spacious. Some kitchen appliances, especially the oven, do need some cleaning. It's the responsibility of the renters to clean kitchen appliances, but seems not everyone is doing it well enough.
- BRULEZ-MARION (9/5): - We really enjoyed the house and the separate studio. Spacious and comfortable, this gorgeous home sits in an amazing green scenery with birds and flowers. Close to Katoomba for grocery shopping, restaurants, by car.
Great location to explore the Blue Mountains.
- Nathan (10/5): -
- Deeanne Schiffke (9/5): Beautiful home in the mountains - Loved the location and that it was in a quiet location. House felt home we really didn't want to leave Bedroom downstairs really needs new pillows.
- Lauren (9/5): -
- Resh (10/5): -
- darne (8/5): Blue mountains getaway - Lovely property set in bush surroundings. Very comfortable. Only negative was oven was dirty
- Andrea (10/5): We felt right home at the accommodation. Thank you for opening up your house to us. - The house is nestled in a wonderful garden, cozy interior and comfy beds. nothing :)
- Jacqueline (9/5): A wonderful stay, we woyld like to come back one day. - The location and house are just wonderful. The host is also very friendly. The shower is not very practical, but the host told us she is working on it. Furthermore I can not think of anything.
- Cara (8/5): A well located lodge for exploring the Blue Mountains. The showers have been mentioned before so a real shame nothing’s - Lovely secluded lodge up in the hills. Spacious layout with everything needed for a short stay for exploring the Blue Mountains. Great location but a car is definitely needed. Overall nothing that prevented us from enjoying our stay - but just a few things that need sorting out.
Bedroom carpets are very tired looking. Showers don’t drain & flood the whole bathroom. Lightbulbs not working in main bedroom & bathroom. Dishwasher also not working but everything supplied for hand washing.
Also we were aware there was no door on the downstairs bathroom - but not sure why this is the case…? Even just a curtain would add some privacy. Didn’t impact our group but may for others.
- Norelle (7/5): Great location and very comfortable. - The bedrooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of areas to sit outside. It was a nice private and quiet place. It was close to the shops. The kitchen and lounge area was very cosy. The bedroom TV downstairs needs to be replaced with a more modern TV. There is no door on the bathroom downstairs.
- lee (8/5): Magical place to stay. - The gardens were beautiful. The house was light, airy and clean. We would stay again. Couldn’t find an iron. Long walk up the driveway in the rain to take out bins for collection. TV’s need updating.
- Krzysztof (10/5): -
- Eddncaz (10/5): Beautiful lodge, lovely garden. - This lodge was beautiful and was one of my favourite places in Australia. The garden is lovely and is full of wildlife and birds, we even had a possum come up to the door one night and a black cockatoo popping in for a visit. The open fire is a great feature, especially as it was winter when we were there. Firewood was hard to find as it was winter and sold out in a lot of places, but we found some eventually at the petrol station. Very close to the three sisters and Scenic World railway. I can't think of anything that could have improved our stay here, the lodge was amazing (although next time I would buy firewood on the way there rather than waiting till I actually need to light the fire).
- Wendy (9/5): Charming lodge in a good location - perfect yo catch up with friends. - We had loverly stay at Ribbon Gum Lodge.
Everything that we needed to enjoy a weekend catching up with friends.
Perfect location between Leura and Katoomba (a bit of a walk though if no car). My only comment of enhancement would be a little more lighting around the steps from the letterbox to the first level, quite dark at night.
- Michelle (9/5): -
- Cathy (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ribbon Gum Lodge - Good facilities, easy drive to all the places we wanted to visit and shop.
House had everything we needed, was warm and comfortable. Lots of steps to carry luggage from car parking up to the house but once there all good.
- Louise (8/5): -
- Jacqueline (9/5): Superb -
- Colette (6/5): Overall OK but concerns mentioned need to be addressed. - Overall clean & spacious, in private location but within walking distance to Leura. Called & texted the host about an issue with the property but got no response.
There was only half a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom for 6 people over a 3-night stay.
On both king/queen beds, single sheets were used which was uncomfortable & impracticable.
For the cost of the property, guests are expected to provide/buy their own firewood.
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Bronwyn (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Gizpix (9/5): Very much enjoyed our stay at Ribbon Gum Lodge. - The house and gardens were lovely. The amenities comfortable and the bedrooms all very comfortable and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the open fireplace in the evenings and also found the gas heating was easy to use and quick to warm as well. Access from the carport up to the house was a little slippery in spots and more steps than anticipated.
- Heidi (8/5): Short but sweet - The space was nice as we had 2 families The extra room downstairs was great for our friends as a retreat away from us
- Catherine (8/5): Lovely rustic comfortable cottage not too far from Katoomba town centre - Comfortable and rustic cottage, quiet, tree views No internal access to the downstairs bedroom, bit tricky in the dark especially if wet. But still very manageable
- Cain (9/5): Superb - Owner was easy to contact
Size of the lodge is exceptional
Views on a night were lovely
Easy access to viewpoint for the three sisters
Easy to use kitchen Carpet was a little outdated
- Jenny (9/5): Great location and accommodation - we'll be back! - Great location, lovely comfortable, well-equipped and furnished old cottage with modern bathrooms and kitchen in beautiful garden setting and surrounds. Lovely to sit out on the balcony looking through the ribbon gums to the valley below and across. Great set-up for 3 couples/families/singles with 2 bedrooms upstairs and self-contained studio downstairs.
- Joseph (10/5): Great holiday - Beautiful country style lodge. Super comfy beds. Great location too. Probably the only thing I can think of is that some bedroom windows lack blockout curtains so can be quite light in the morning
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachael (8/5): Very good - Close to town with car. Nice and private.
Ideal for family of 5. Nice to have outside room underneath for our oldest. Lots of steps up to the house.
- Katrina (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Irene (10/5): Wonderful, exceeded all expectations and returning next year! - Location was wonderful - it was like a treehouse with nature all around. My husband is an artist and went out and bought a new sketch pad to sketch the wonderful green trees. Took pictures at dawn and many other photos of the property.
It was a wonderful stay and we're looking to return again next year. Absolutely nothing
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alice (9/5): Cosy house in the mountains where we made wonderful memories with our family. - The location was stunning. The house was very cosy and lots to do. The garden were so pretty and the neighbours were very friendly. We found the beds were not the most comfortable and the cleanliness of the house could have been better
- Efmw (8/5): A comfortable stay for a few nights away. - Spacious and comfortable accommodation. We were a party of 6 adults and the lounge and dining areas were great. Comfortable beds. Location was close to both Katoomba and Leura, not walking distance but a few minutes by car. There needs to be a lock on the main bathroom door please!
- Frank (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (5/5): Quaint but old and dated. Too many stairs. Fireplace not practical. - Quite a quaint property with good sized rooms. Adequate facilities. Not aware at time of booking of the number of stairs to get from carport to house. Also not told that bedroom and bathroom downstairs had no internal entry - only informed close to arrival date. Not good as it rained when we were staying. Very poorly maintained although clean. Old and dated.
Only heating in lounge/dining/kitchen area was a wood fireplace and we had to buy the firewood if we wanted to use it. Not practical when out all day and nights are cold.
- Rae (8/5): Very good -
- Peta (3/5): Smokey lodge with external 3rd bedroom - The outdoor spaces of the lodge were lovely. The lodge has an open fireplace (not stated in the listing) which has left the property smelling of intense smoke. The smoke has seeped into the furnishings, lounges, walls and carpets and is overwhelming even with airing out. The third bedroom is downstairs and not accessible internally. Not helpful for a family with small children (also not stated on the listing).
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Lovely house and close to Leura and katoomba, spacious rooms and very warm fireplace. Was a perfect little house for our annual girls weekend away Nothing the owners of the lodge can do about it but couple rooster next door woke us up early each morning
Pull out couch wasnt the most comfortable
- Jeanne (10/5): Exceptional - nice quiet place
Starry sky's above Heater floor and living room heater stopped ....
- Rhonda (10/5): Exactly the accommodation required for our needs; Tracy was prompt and eager to help in any way possible - Excellent in every way Not applicable
- Iouri (9/5): Superb -
- Gleich (10/5): Forest, cabin, nature - Location was good.
- Kimberley (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mounira (10/5): We had a wonderful stay. We don’t need to leave the property to enjoy our stay. - The property was cute, very pretty and very secluded yet close enough to the local grocery stores and coffee shops.
- Cristiane (9/5): Superb -
- Janelf (7/5): Cosy - The property itself was great, very comfy and warm. Location was good. Heating was great. The 3rd bedroom was downstairs, which you had to go outside the house and walk around the side to get to it. Not great when in 4 degrees. Also lots of stairs to get into the property, which we were ok with but could certainly understand not suitable for a lot of people. Also NO lighting on the outdoor stairs of a night, which did make it a bit unstable when arriving back in the dark.
- Kristy-lee (7/5): We enjoyed our stay - It was warm and cozy and had good kitchen facilities. Enough space for the two families We didn't realise the studio room was separate from the house which made it annoying going out into the cold when needing to go back and forth.
I'm not sure if the stairs are mentioned in the description or photos but would be hard for some people to use.
Having garbage bags included would be good.
- Liz (9/5): Cozy mountain escape - Immaculately clean and well set up and on a very cold week it was so cozy.
- Casey (8/5): Very good - Very cosy, perfect amount of space for a group of 5. Under tile heating on the bathrooms were lovely and kept us warm. Upstairs and downstairs are not connected inside, especially in rainy weather,we had to layer up and get an umbrella rella just to go downstairs.
Stove top also needed a lighter to get it started.
- Azeem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (7/5): satisfactory. - nice and close to Katoomba centre, nice and cosy. There was no “compendium” as mentioned in the welcome email, not enough ventilation so the fireplace smoked out the whole apartment and doors had to be left open which defeated the purpose of having a fire in winter. The fold out bed was covered in crumbs and stains.
- Lynda (9/5): Superb -
- Wong (7/5): Delightful place for a short holiday - Rustic and cozy feel. All facilities working.
Heater was very useful during winter.
Close to nature
Very responsive host when contacted. Sliding door for toilet should be included at lower deck for privacy.
- Donna (8/5): Very good -
- Karyn (9/5): Cosy and comfortable - Cosy and comfortable house that was perfect for a stay in the Mountains. Convenient to get to all attractions. The house was perfect for our family group of six adults.
- Kate (9/5): Thank you for a wonderful family getaway. - Warm and comfortable house with beautiful gardens and plenty of space.
- Keith (8/5): Relaxing and comfortable, felt like home. - The property was really cozy, very comfortable beds, loved the gardens. Amount of steps to manage. Luckily the weather was good. A bit of an effort for seniors.
- Fiona (9/5): Spacious value for money, stylish comfortable, mountain retreat - Location, value for money, tranquility Not much to not like, spacious, quiet a number of stairs
- Brad (10/5): Lovely comfortable place in a great location - The house and gardens are absolutley loverly. It is in a great location not far from Katoomba and Leura. We enjoyed sitting out in the garden at night watching the stars. The house was cosy and warm and very light during the day. Perfect little spot
- Michael (9/5): Awesome, loved the property, location and the whole experience -
- Helen (9/5): Great accommodation to suit families. We loved the books and the comfy sitting areas. -
- Scott (7/5): Once your in the house it is very comfortable and cosy. - The proximity to the town was great - the house itself and beds were very comfortable and we had a great stay. The directions provided were great and check in was easy. The heating was very powerful and cosy. There are NO photos of where you park your car and no mention of the stairs that you need to navigate with all of your luggage and food. One tea towel and one towel per person is not adequate for a 3 night stay. There was no dishwashing liquid or tablets in the cupboard and despite the lengthy email full of rules we got before the stay, the BBQ was filthy and has been for a while. The showers do leak. There is also a dangerous hole in the middle of your decking. A small amount of Fire Wood would be a nice welcome. There is no mention that the downstairs bedroom is totally separate and outside access only. The fry pans need to be replaced - they are in terrible condition.
- Stine (8/5): Very good - Great view. Lots of space. Nice garden. It was quite cold and one of the heaters didn’t work.
- Leanne (8/5): Very good - It was a fantastic cottage well appointed, views amazing lovely. Needed a few fans. Needed to be made aware showers leaked all over the bathroom floors
- Stuart (8/5): Nice spacious place to stay with a homely feel -
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional - It was Fantastic! Thank you such a wonderful place 😍
- Emilee (8/5): Very good -
- Yvette (10/5): This is such a beautiful, quiet, clean and spacious lodge. The whole vibe of this place is calming and comforting. - Everything!
- Chinzia (8/5): A little pocket of cosiness nestled in natural beauty - Reminds me of the Ghibli movie Spirited Away - We liked the cosiness of the house and the fresh, pretty atmosphere and natural surroundings of the house. Loved the bookshelf and the different eclectic collection of books, bed were comfy and the two rooms were spacious, one room was smaller, with a little balcony.
A nice place for a group of 2-6 adults, family of 4 upstairs or a couple with a baby in the studio. Everyone's experience is different. We were three families with children under 3 years - due to this circumstance our experience would be different compared to a couple or family of 6.
For us the open kitchen and the humid weather made the living area a bit hot - we opened windows, doors and had the fans on - no AC
Laundry - no dryer, but has clothing rack
Bathroom became wet when showering children - Dried with fan and bathroom mat.
The stove tops didn't all work - we got into contact with Tracy and he was quick to reply.
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (5/5): Not for people our age. The surrounding bush is delightful, but getting into it is another story . - Amount of light in kitchen/dining room area. Size of rooms The access was very difficult for people in their 80s trying to bring in their Xmas meal. It asked a lot particularly in the rain, We would have had to find other accommodation if we had not had our daughter with us to carry bags, food and Xmas cheer up steep steps. The handrail was , in parts, a rope. The owner needs to ensure that intending guests are aware that the entry is not suitable for the elderly before they commit. Also we must have missed the fine print at the point of booking, because we would not have booked had we known that the third bedroom was not accessible through the house. Going up and down was not physically hard for my 56 year old daughter but the weather was really rotten and often she had little alternative than to face it. She ,also . was the only member of our group capable of dragging out the garbage bins 130 meters, as the owner requested. Her remote control couldn't be found and the heater wouldn't work. A bedside lamp in the twin bed room didn't work. The owner had got out of hospital the morning we arrived and apologised for not being able to dress up the place and this has to be considered alongside the above comments. We did not wish to disturb him with insistent phone calls. Perhaps things would be better in different circumstances, at a different time of the year, with younger holiday makers.
- Monika (8/5): Very good - Good location, spacious living room with equipped kitchen including capsule coffee machine. Host was very responsive to questions. Undercover parking. Both bathrooms were very moldy and could benefit from a thorough clean. Shower drains leaked all over bathroom and there appears to be a drainage problem.
No fly screens on any of the windows or external doors meant we were unable to open the place up in the evening to cool down as there were lots of mosquitoes coming in.
- Marlene (9/5): nature retreat in the Bue Mountains - very convenient on short distance to major attractions in Blue Mountains. De house was very comfortable and homy. everything was fine
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stojka (6/5): Pleasant - Location was right near center Shower could of been better and cleaner.as it had mould, I was expecting a more secluded location.
Blankets were not clean, and the floors and rugs were not properly cleaned.
- Kent (9/5): Fantastic and relaxing. - The views of the surrounding bush. Great to sit on the balcony and relax. Difficult to “air” the house without letting insects in. Limited fly screens.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional -
