• Berndt (9/5): Peaceful and relaxing 2 night stay - Casita Rica was a delightful cottage with a wonderful view. It was so well equipped for self catering. The fireplace was HOT and the bathtub was much appreciated after long hikes. We visited nearby Little Roaring Beach which was a real hidden gem. Overall we loved our stay and wanted for nothing. Can't think of a single thing

• Michael (8/5): Great - The view from the balcony is superb. Sitting with cocktails as the sun sets was a wonderful experience. All the amenities were provided and the wood fired heating did indeed make the place ‘toasty’. The bed was firmish, however it did not prevent us from sleeping well.

Wood fire with plenty of wood. - Located on the edge of a state forest, high up overlooking the Huon River through floor to ceiling glass windows or the outside deck, you felt as though you were in a tree house, a million miles from care.

Beautifully appointed. A minor issue ( which the Host draws to your attention ) is the television reception both Freeview and Online viewing was not available for our one night stay and to be honest having the Bluetooth Speaker was perfect for playing our own playlist from our phone. It was good not listening to the World News!!

• Ken (9/5): Extremely comfortable, cosy and every requirement thought of. - The views were amazing, the wood fire wonderfully cosy, the provisions and facilities provided amazing, the information provided incredibly inclusive. 3 wedge tail eagles putting on a show right above us pretty impressive - obviously coordinated by the hosts on cue! Bit of an issue with egg chair with small spikes I sat on but no doubt there is a cushion somewhere so my fault. TV reception a bit dodgy but who cares and understandable given location.
• Kaitlyn (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing stay! Casita Rita was adorable, cozy, clean and the perfect gateway! Host was great and easy to communicate with. Place and location were incredible. View is even better than the pictures! You can see so much of the water as well as forest.
• Lucy (1/5): The view is lovely, if the owners listened to what ppl say about there stays then I think it would do quite well - The view is beautiful, the fire place warmed up the place very quickly The bed was extremely hard and very uncomfortable, there is no blinds, no privacy, no microwave, the tiles in the bathroom were filthy and it was very dusty. There is a person that lives 20meters away and just stares as you are on the deck of the property. We ended up leaving after the 1st night and didn’t stay the 2nd night. I have photos of the place and there was no compensation from the owners, they didn’t really seem to care.
• Jason (10/5): We both loved our stay, would recommend for anyone that want’s peace and quiet with a great view. Very comfortable. - Great location to get away and relax. It had everything we would need on a holiday for a few days. Nothing to dislike.
• Claire (6/5): Cute but not our favourite - Casita Rica is affordable. It's remote and it's quiet, and for the things we wanted to experience in Huon Valley the location suited us. The sunrises from the property are really special, as are the local beaches/bays. The property is a decent size for two people and it's modern and decorated tastefully. It's warm enough in our opinion without the fire or heater going, but if you do use the fire it does get toasty. The stove and oven make for some nice home cooked meals. It's a nice and decent drive to places to dine. Casita Rica (and similar) is our go-to style of accommodation when travelling. We're pretty laid back people too. Sadly, on this occasion, we're actually relieved to be on to our next destination mostly because of the bed. The mattress is hard as rocks. My husband spent four of four nights on the couch, and as a six foot three man trying to sleep on a modular couch that doesn't clip together proved uncomfortable for him too. I myself have not slept properly in four nights. There is no microwave "to slow things down", (but there is a blender and a soda stream device 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️🤨🤨). This needs to be advertised more clearly across the board of online listings. We are lucky, we can cook, but if someone who can't turned up with microwave meals only they'd be buggered. Also, not everyone has time or spare money to drive 35mins each way to the closest large supermarket in Huonville (Dover IGA is 15-20mins away and well above supermarket prices) to buy things that have to be cooked in the oven/stovetop. Part of our grocery shop before checking in included some simple small microwaveable items, thankfully they could be heated on the stove but yay, more dishes (hand wash only)! Need to add a potato masher as this is "invisible" too. Wifi is really unreliable and my Telstra reception was patchy, so as a business owner trying to complete tasks here of a morning/evening proved either very very VERY slow or impossible. Couldn't get any live tv each night we tried and Netflix was a no go because of the wifi. Casita Rica is not completely private, the neighbour likes wondering around (rightly so, it's his block). The big windows sure make for a good show for him. The old shed and rusty caravan over there take away a bit from the beauty of this place too. Bath is single person use only, unless one of you wants tapware in your back. The bedroom door also doesn't remain closed, keeps sliding open.
• Chloe (9/5): Superb - Almost everything was perfect, Casita Rica had everything we could possibly have needed and then some for quiet little getaway! Such a wonderful hidden gem! The one and only issue we had was that this place is advertised as secluded, however it is not secluded. The neighbours look directly down over the cottage and it felt like they were watching us everytime we were on the verandah, we found this very creepy so would love to suggest some sort of privacy screening to fix the issue in future.

The house itself was so comfortable and well set up. I appreciated everything about my stay and will definitely be back I didn't like having to leave - I could have happily stayed for a month! :)

Heating was with a combustion fire, so cosey, in the large open living area. Well equipped kitchen. Fabulous walk in shower in the bathroom. Would have loved a microwave - I know the owners address this in their information, however, for some a microwave is essential.
• Lauren (10/5): The cosiest I have ever been! - Very cosy. Lots of very thoughtful additions - eg books, board games, bath salts. The kitchen was very well equipped. Driving here at night for the first time was a bit intense - fairly windy roads quite close to the river, and the area is not well lit for driving purposes. I appreciate though that fewer street lights are better for the wildlife and for seeing the stars.
