Guest Reviews
- Damien (7/5): - Location good had own breakfast
- Lee (10/5): - Awesome little house. Clean and tidy and everything we needed for 2 night stay. Wear shoes. The prickles are real. Ouch. No fault of anyone it's just what it is.
- Tidurnyenyak (5/5): Needs serious attention to cleaning. - Very good, friendly communication with host. Entry into house is well arranged. The major issue was with the dusty smell which turned out to be due to dust all over the house. I vacuumed the lounge and bedroom and obtained the amount of dust visible in the photo of the vacuum cleaner, from these two rooms. I also swept the kitchen, bathroom, toilet and back porch and collected a considerable amount of dust and dirt. You can see the level of dust on the window sill photographed. There was further dust on other window sills and surfaces. This made my time there unpleasant. I spent the first hour cleaning to try to rid the house of the smell, but I was not successful. The microwave smelt of stale food and the cupboards, as photographed, had dirt on the shelves. The tea towel had a used, unpleasant smell.
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vin (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay All good ๐
- Belinda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (7/5): An enjoyable stay despite the hot conditions - 39 degrees - Quaint & atmospheric If you need wifi the guest wifi did not work for us. It came up as โNo connection to internetโ for the entire period and we had no mobile coverage (Telstra) as an alternative. Otherwise, everything else as per the claims!
- Marlene (8/5): Was ok - Neat and clean The prickles
- Nathan (9/5): Great little shack in a great location ๐๐บ - The property was cute and clean!
Graham was a gem to deal with! Needs some paving out the back as the prickles are rife
- Richard (6/5): Pleasant - The top bunk bed is very difficult for mature adults to access.
The whole house got very cold overnight.
- Bernhard (1/5): Bad -
- Lorincz (7/5): Good - 3 corner jacks
- Jennifer (7/5): The cottage is not large or flash nor is it expensive but it is in a very convenient location - Staying in 1950โs cottage by the Darling. The history book left for visitors to peruse.
Conveniently located between Menindee Lakes and Lake Mungo.
- Anita (8/5): Very good -
- Jill (7/5): Good -
- David (4/5): Old but just ok - Location is great Bed linen very thin. was a bit musky in smell.
- Duminda (8/5): Very good -
- Colleen (10/5): Wallies cottage in outback Pooncarie - Loved the location ๐. Right on the river. Great outback rustic feel. Old cottage renovated to be functional without spoiling the old feel. Even has squeaky floorboards that reminded me of my grandmothers old house. Loved it. Love that there is a plunger and real, fresh ground coffee too! Oh, and lots of old movies to watch including kids ones. Didn't find anything I didn't like. This cottage is a work in progress and everything works just fine but improvements will continue to be made.
- Jody (8/5): Very good - All the basics. Love the location on the River

- Stewart (8/5): Enjoyed,looking forward at coming back - N/a Nothing
- Penelope (5/5): Wallies Cottage, on The Darling River in Pooncarie, facilitates a small town, outback experience. - Beautiful Australian Outback location, fronting onto the Darling River. Old cottage, undergoing upgrade. Comfortable bed; good shower; adequate hot water & drinking water; reverse cycle AC in the rooms. Large fridge - brought our food with us. A short stroll to the Old Wharf Cafe for coffee & tea hosted by Bob & Bar. Day excursions to Mungo World Heritage area and the Australian Inland Botanic Gardens add to the appeal of Pooncarie. I had concerns re the electrical wiring at the cottage - too many power boards and extension leads especially for the kitchen appliances. Owing to the creaking kitchen floor in the middle of the house, it was not possible to move quietly within Wallies cottage.
- Tierney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (8/5): Good position and easy access - On l y problem was it was dark when cooking the barbecue. A light would be good.
- Dayle (7/5): A modest but comfortable little historic cottage. - Cute little cottage right on the high bank of the river.
The main bedroom is nicely presented with lovely linen.
Newly renovated bathroom.
Good option for families who donโt want to stay at the pub. Some of the kitchen pots and pans could be replaced.
The curtains in the back of the house (but there are new curtains in the front)
- Don (8/5): Very good -
- Pamela (9/5): Will definitely come back - On the river and close to the pub
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable little cottage perfectly located on the banks of the Darling. Just great!!
