Guest Reviews

- Gierak (10/5): Beautiful stay in Tortuguero - The property was nicely located, it is very clean and has a very nice garden! I loved everything!
Unsere Beschwerde dazu blieb komplett unbeantwortet – keine Reaktion, keine Entschuldigung, nichts.
- Annette (7/5): - Comfortable and clean. Outside area with chairs. About 5 minutes walk from town. Spacious. Good facilities.

- Diane (10/5): Highly recommended lodging for your stay in a unique and beautiful area of Costa Rica! - Rodrigo is a wonderful host!! He met us at the boat dock and walked us to the property, again for a boat tour we had booked, and again when we left. We had bad internet advice and thought there was an ATM in town, so we were unable to pay in cash as he had requested up front. However he accepted our payment by an alternate method (Tilopay) which we appreciated. The property is full of beautiful tropical plants and is very quiet since it’s at the end of the town’s developed area and is right on the boundary of the National Park. We enjoyed watching hummingbirds and spider monkeys from the front porch, and could hear Black and White owls at night. We had wonderful views of Great Green Macaws, Keel-billed Toucans, and two-toed sloths in the town. From the casa you are still handy to restaurants and supermercados and fruterías. The kitchen is equipped for cooking meals, and Rodrigo provides good suggestions if you want to eat out. Don’t miss the Sea Turtle Conservancy at the other end of town! Even if it’s not turtle laying or hatching season, the video and displays are excellent. We really enjoyed a guided canoe tour for the two of us with guide Kendall. Be prepared for lots of rain! We could have used a clothes line or clothes rack to dry out our clothes etc. We really have no negatives! We would stay there again if returning!

- Lea (8/5): Lovely clean accommodation on the edge of the forest - The accommodation was in a small block of about 4-5 accommodations of various configurations. The rooms and gardens were exceptionally clean and cared for. We had the downstairs room with a small outdoor seating area and a small kitchen which had everything thoughtfully supplied. The bathroom was generous in size and the shower water was hot. Overall, the apartment was small but very comfortable. I think the upstairs rooms would have had a better view from the balcony, but we still had a lovely view of the forest and saw some nice humming birds,.The accommodation is at the end of the village, towards the beach,, right on the very edge of the national park, about 8 minutes walk from the port, so a little quieter than if we'd stayed close to the main Street. There are little restaurants and supermarkets throughout the village so nothing was far away. The accommodation also can organise all the tours and it was great value. Best of all, they had good equipment and small group sizes. The guides they use are fabulous, especially Oscar. Tortuguero village is very touristy but feels quite safe. Bring wet weather gear and waterproof shoes if you can, as it's a rain forest, so it rains a few hours each day or night.but its not a negative, it helps cool everything down. The pathway to the accommodation isn't quite finished so there are a few areas that are dust or mud, but that is the same in all the village. There is an outdoor shower and tap to wash your shoes if need be
- Soo-Youn (8/5): Clean and well equipped Studio, quiet and away from the hussle of the center - Fully equipped kitchen, pick up from the boat, sweet little appartment It’s a bit far to get to the main road, and the tiny streets felt like a maze. we got lost a few times walking back at night in the dark. But people were super helpful :-)
- Isabella (9/5): - Struttura pulita, giardino bellissimo, personale molto dispianibile.
- Sandra (10/5): - Heerlijk huisje. Mooi gelegen, buiten de drukte. Helemaal prima! Medewerkers zijn behulpzaam en super vriendelijk! Niets
- Harvey (10/5): Genuine hosts, clean property, good value for money - Everything was perfect. Super helpful hosts, nice and clean property. No issues at all.
- Neil (10/5): Fab accommodation, lovely hosts who met us and showed us the area and also enjoyed their tours. - Lovely ground floor apartment surrounded by beautiful gardens where you can spend your time relaxing and watching spider monkeys, humming birds and lizards to name but a few. Absolutely nothing
- Anita (10/5): Awesome place to stay - Very friendly and helpful host! Very clean!
- Nadine (10/5): Perfect stay in Tortuguero - Very nice and fully equipped apartment. Peaceful and quiet and close to the beach. The owners were super friendly and helped us with all requests. We also booked the canoe tour and the day walk tour with the location and had a great time. We highly recommend it.
- Diemel4001 (10/5): Exceptional - What an amazing place! Very comfortable cabin with great kitchen and bed.
But the location is unbeatable. Watching the animals from your doorstep is priceless. I would not want to stay anywhere else if I go to Tortuguero. Nothing at all!
- Valérie (9/5): Superb -
- Meghan (10/5): Fantastic stay - very highly recommend!! - Wow, what can I say - this was such a fantastic stay. From when we arrived to Tortuguero to when we left, everything was perfect. We paid for the turtle pack tour and it was everything we wished for, really recommend. Rodrigo was an amazing host and Fabian was a great tour guide on all three tours (turtle, canoe and hike). I am very picky when it comes to stays and I would honestly recommend anyone to stay at this place - Rodrigo is doing amazing work for the community and we were so happy we got to see a small part of that.
I could write so many more positive things about this place but you really have to go and experience it for yourself :)
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful accommodations - Beautiful and clean space off the beaten path.
- Michel (8/5): Good - The accommodation is right in nature and is close to the beach and other facilities (like everywhere in Tortuguero). There are some people that say the accommodation is in an area where they didn’t feel safe. But it’s fine over there, it’s almost next to a school and very private. The host also lives on the property and it’s the same feeling as everywhere else in Tortuguero, so don’t be afraid. It’s all fine and safe! The accommodation has many (big) cracks around the windows, so be prepared for some insects crawling/getting into the house.
We also booked the turtle package (turtles, canoe and hike through the n.p.) via Trips Nativos. We got Alfonso as a tourguide for the canoe tour and the turtle tour. He is knowledgeable but almost doesn’t talk (maybe English is hard for him). We had to ask so much to get some little information.. so both were a bit disappointing (we saw a turtle - also standing around a turtle with 60 other people in low season isn’t really ‘romantic’. The guide told us that in high season there are 900+ people on the beach - and in the morning we also saw some animals) in the afternoon we got his brother Abel for the walk through the n.p. And that was a total different adventure. He explains a lot and is very funny and friendly. The walk itself isn’t that great (other n.p. are more beautiful - and it’s just a road near the beach where you can walk yourself), but Abel really made the tour!
- Joe (10/5): Our host Adriana and Rodrigo are simply the best. Always responsive, and the best recommendations - Location Location Location! Great property and fantastic host! Nothing was disliked about entire stay!
- Emmanuelle (8/5): Very good -
- Jean (9/5): Beautiful, natural setting in Tortuguero with AC! - Modern, AIR CONDITIONED! Peaceful. Hosts were fantastic. So friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Kasia (9/5): Very cozy house with beautiful garden, friendly and helpful owners. - Comfortable house with a beautiful garden, well equipped. Very friendly and helpful owners that helped us to get there and organize the tours. All was great, maybe one recommendation would be to add a hammock on the patio to be able to fully relaxed:)
- Nikita (10/5): Exceptional - - Friendly hosts
- Comfortable apartment
- Great location close to the jungle with wildlife right in front of the terrace
- All facilities/equipment are comfortable and working properly
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (10/5): Amazing stay, great quality! - The property was great! In beautiful condition, the AC was very welcome with the heat and it was comfortable! We did the tours through the company linked with the property and they were all amazing, highly recommend. Nothing
- Stephan (10/5): Exceptional - This apartment is a jewel!
You have a spacious place all for your own with a greatly equipped kitchen, a little terrace and away from the hectic village center.
We enjoyed our stay here a lot and would come back every time.
Thanks so much! :)
- Leonie (10/5): Extremely beautiful house next to the beach and national park - New and extremely beautiful house, with the boarder to the national park where we saw a lot of animals
Very good communication with the host via WhatsApp
We took the tours from the Casa, they were well organized and with small groups (sometimes private)
Great location (beach, center, port, national park)
- Adriana (9/5): Nice place for a few days in Tortuguero - Nice little house. Staff was really friendly. We booked our tours with them, which was reallly great. Nothing really. Maybe an electric plug in the kitchen.
- Jane (9/5): Very comfortable stay. Rodrigo was a fantastic host and was really easy to communicate with! -
- Cat (7/5): Good - The house was nice with a good shower and kitchen. The setting in the jungle is lovely, you could hear howlers and green macaws and it’s otherwise quiet. The walk into town is easy and takes around 5 mins. It’s less to the beach. Not sure why people didn’t like the area in previous reviews, it’s certainly not a ghetto! Wifi was very good.
You are met at the boat dock and walked to the house which is great but we got the impression this was more to sell you tours… The big problem with the place and why it didn’t get a higher score was the curtains are so thin they let in all the light. Unfortunately the hotel/neighbours next door leave their porch lights on all night so artificial light illuminates the room. In addition to this the big lights on the aircon don’t turn off so that adds more light. I personally found it hard to sleep because of this.
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were amazing. Great location
- Frank (10/5): Best place for a trip to Tortuguero - I'm so glad having booked Casa Chilamate 2.0 for 3N which - together with the tours by Arturo from TripsNativos - was THE very highlight of two weeks travelling across CR. Casa 2.0 means there was a new bungalow in a well maintaned garden, equipped with everything one would need including kitchen facilities, good A/C and ventilator. I loved that the property is on the edge of the village, and next to the Nationsl Park. Means living among locals, without the tourists noises from the walking street, but with a group of monkeys as neighbors living in the tree 2 meters next to the bungalow, roaming on the patio roof, sound of birds, and the last morning even the paw prints of a Jaguar at the tiles infront of the door from a nightly visit! I was also welcomed by a fruit bowl of oranges and bananas which I much appreciated. The location is also a perfect start for tours and excursions in the beautiful nature surrounding Tortuguero. I can highly recommend to rent a guide from TripsNativos (run by Casa Chilamates), try to get Arturo as a guide. He was an absolutely fab, intelligent, enthusiastic but humble guy. By booking a tour with TripsNativos you also support the local music school for kids, where parts of the tour earnings are donated to. Last but not least: While I didn't met the owners of Casa Chilamates in person during my stay, the messaging via booking.com was perfect, and their friends/caretakers of the house were so lovely people, worth an extra visit just to meet them again. Would I return, and recommend to friends? Absolutely, 100%. Nothing to dislike
- David (10/5): Exceptional - I could repeat and reiterate what others have said about the fantastic accommodation but I would like to thank and tell all of the unbelievable kind, helpful, and open hosts. Without them our holiday would not have started off so well. Can't say enough good about them....and the accommodation!
- Marius (10/5): nice and new accommodation close to national Park - nice host, a lot of space, quietly located next to National park, kitchen the best we had in Costa Rica, great canoe tour with an extremely good guide organized by our host, you can watch a lot of animals (e.g. monkeys, tucana, hummingbirds) from your terrace
- Katharina (10/5): Exceptional - we had such a great and warm welcome and the best tour guide Arturo we‘ve ever had who made our stay so special. Super nice and cosy house with monkey 🙉 in the garden 😎
