- Peta (9/5): -
- athra (10/5): - Beautiful calm and full of nature. Very much different from crowdy city life, kids enjoyed
- Choi (8/5): -
- Henrietta Hunter (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful cabin in the most gorgeous setting! Wildlife everywhere, and the pool was idyllic
- Rachel (8/5): Beautiful location with good facilities - Mosquito netting on windows, safety strip on glass doors to veranda
- Luke (10/5): Beautiful mountain retreat surrounded by nature and native wildlife - Beautiful private location with everything we needed. The cabin was clean and very well appointed. We had an amazing stay with the local Kookaburras and Wallabys. The host provided us with directions and recommendations for our journey to Chichester. Highly recommend Nothing to dislike about this property.

- Pat (7/5): Overall happy with this cabin for the digital detox and to be surrounded by nature. - Great location to see wallabies and birds. Great to have pool and tennis court available. Good quality linen and kitchenware/crockery. Could have bedside lamps for reading both sides of both beds. Beds were a bit hard for our liking. One bedroom had no wardrobe available.
Could do with some summer weight cotton blankets- too warm for duvets in summertime.
Would be good to have been informed of need to bring own coffee for the plunger provided. (Too far into town to pick some up just for a weekend).
- Conny (10/5): Wunderschön!!! - Ein wunderbares Fleckchen Natur. Wer Ruhe sucht, findet sie hier. Wildlife war phänomenal. Das Haus bietet alles was man braucht.

- Simone (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and found the property clean and comfortable. That said, nothing felt especially unique or above and - The property was very clean. The location was beautiful. I loved sitting out the back with a cup of tea or glass of wine and just staring at nature and listening to the sounds of many different birds. The property had everything we needed. We were able to cook a Christmas dinner in the kitchen. No wifi connection so could only watch some channels on free view tv. We also watched a couple of DVDs as these were supplied. It’s not that we want to watch a lot of tv but we were there over the Xmas break with nowhere to go so the tv was needed for part of our stay.
- Hua li (10/5): - All good All good
- Katharine (6/5): Lovely location but a bit disappointing - Lovely location and good cabin Arrived to an uncleaned cabin and then moved to another dirty one. Couldn’t get in until 5.30pm while waiting for it to be cleaned and still had to empty dishwasher from previous people. Was very overpriced for what it was despite the beautiful setting. While it’s close to lower end of Barrington Tops national park and a couple of short walks but it’s actually still at least 2hrs away from the start of the main walks. FYI no phone reception or wifi if needed.

- Simon (10/5): We loved the cabin, it was wonderful and we would love to be back soon! - Loved the location and the wildlife was amazing. We wish we stayed longer!! The hot water is very hot. Just a little warning for people to ensure they are careful when showering, we had a very close call with a burn. Maybe a sign to warn of the hot water…
- Belinda (8/5): -
- Kat G C (10/5): Beautiful spot for a relaxing stay - Everything was lovely! The cabin felt spacious (especially the bathroom). It was a joy watching the local wildlife and birds. The tennis court and pool area is great.
- Rachelle (10/5): Switch off an unwind - As always an absolute pleasure. This place holds a special place in my heart and I will always love coming back. There is nothing that I don't like about this beautiful place.
- alisa (10/5): Relaxing, beautiful view, peaceful - It was cozy and clean I loved everything
- MJM (7/5): Very relaxing - some improvements needed. - Location, wallaby's & spa bath. No kindling was supplied & there was very minimal firewood for the duration of the stay - we did infact ask if firewood was supplied or did we need to bring some and the host advised it was all supplied. After reading some previous reviews, we believe this is a common occurrence. We tried sourcing firewood & kindling in Dungog, but the cupboard was bare. We contacted the host about the lack of kindling and were advised that the 'caretaker' would deliver some - but this did not occur.
So , to light the fire, we used a wrapped toilet roll as well as ALL the cardboard we could muster from the supplies we brought with us.

- Treena (10/5): Lovely get away in a peaceful location. - The location was beautiful, so peaceful. The unit was very well appointed and had everything we needed. The pillows weren’t to my personal liking but others in my group weren’t too concerned about it.
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - The name on the retreat was different than the email address
- Anna (8/5): Perfect getaway spot! - Beautiful quiet location, surrounded by wildlife with national parks walking trails nearby. Great wood fire that kept us toasty warm and a spa bath with more than enough room for two. Well equipped kitchen with full sized fridge and freezer. Also the thoughtful inclusions like board games, tennis racquets and extra blankets were great. It didn't bother us being winter, but if we were to come back in summer I'd be hoping for the addition of some screens, at least on the front window and glass door.
- Terence (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mei (9/5): Nice short stay with family. We get to see the milky way. In the morning, king parrots visited us. Wallabies everywhere. - Quiet beautiful surroundings. Spa bath was great. Making bonfire was fun Tennis court was busy
- Samara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Candise (10/5): Simple but very comfortable and has everything you need to get away. - Location Rain
- Georgia (9/5): Superb - We stayed here over the weekend to celebrate our friend’s birthday, and it was absolutely incredible! Every detail had been thoughtfully considered — from fire starters ready by the fireplace to a charming picnic basket complete with a cozy blanket. The surroundings were just as magical, with wallabies and birds wandering so close it felt like a scene from a nature documentary. A truly unforgettable stay in a stunning location!
- Zara (10/5): Very relaxing, clean place with beautiful surrounds. - Peaceful beautiful place. Great host. Very clean. Loved the fire pit and the coffee machine.
- Jo-ann (10/5): Exceptional -

- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sylvia (9/5): Superb - We loved the perfect and peaceful location of this accommodation, nestled into spectacular nature. We were greeted by kookaburras and many other birds. We also enjoyed the outdoor fire pit very much.
What a serene place. The lighting inside was a bit too bright. Dimmers would be useful.
- Rebecca (10/5): Peace and Quiet - The location was exceptional. As it wasn't yet school holidays, we were one of only a few houses within the Barrington Wilderness Estate that were occupied. The tennis courts were a fun addition and the wildlife and peace and quiet made it the escape that we were looking for.
- Monika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kieren (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, relaxing location amongst the forests. Surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, the cabin was perfectly positioned, well-equipped, oversized bathroom with the most amazing shower.
- Jjm (9/5): Barrington Wildlife Estate - Beautiful country, fresh air, great facilities, clean, wildlife everywhere.
Was a wonderful relaxing break after a hectic week at work.
Nicely equipped, nice beds and a sunken bath / shower for a bit of difference.
- Renee (10/5): From country to rain forest it is perfect for a quite getaway, surrounds by birds and nature. The kids loved the facilit - From country to rain forest it is perfect for a quite getaway, surrounds by birds and nature. The kids loved the facilities and enjoyed roasting marshmallows by the fire. We will definitely be back
- Ali (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay and would go back! - The location was awesome, chilling and relaxing. The bath tub was really good! Everything was nice but as a suggestion. There could have been a BBq at the cabin’s back yard!
- Simone (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dagmar (9/5): We had a wonderful relaxing evening and thanks for waiving the 10 am check out as it meant we could enjoy the morning wi - Lovely quiet secluded spot.
Nice clean and spacious cabin The bath shower
- Susanna (9/5): Superb - Location, tennis court, pool, accommodation, coffee machine No bbq in a cabin
- Diane (7/5): Great place if you want to relax and stay in the area. - Beautiful inside and surroundings as well Located too far hinterland for us to sightsee -
Drive there a bit rough.
- Jeanne (10/5): Perfect Place for Peace, Relaxation, and Wildlife Viewing - Fantastic home, super clean, well-appointed, with VERY comfortable beds. Viewing all the wildlife was a huge bonus. Loved the pool and recreation area as well. We couldn’t have loved our stay more. Book this without hesitation! Everything was 100% perfect! Our host had excellent communication.

- Nicole (8/5): Will definitely visit again. The location superb & host, Cate was very responsive and helpful. - The location was stunning. The views incredible and lots of wildlife. The perfect place to relax and unwind. The beds were a little uncomfortable and a screen door on the slider to the deck would have been helpful.
- Jackie (9/5): Great stay, I wish it was more than one night. Could have stayed a week, easy. - Beautiful location Location amazing, living with nature
- Kamalika (10/5): Excellent location and immaculate property - Excellent location. The property was immaculately decorated and sparkling clean. Every need has been catered for. Had a very comfortable stay. The host was superb at communicating and providing all information to make my stay smooth. Would recommend a telephone shower..

- Rain (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (10/5): Wonderful place in wonderful location!! - Location. Amenity. Communication with owner easy. Everything :)
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Mor (9/5): A very pleasant winter break at the Barrington. - The cabins were very well equipped, the beds were cosy, the atmosphere was great despite the cold due to the inside wood stove and the outside firepit. We liked visits from the wallabies, King parrots , bower bird, having board games and the ability to play tennis on the community court. Of course, we could take a hike in the nearby Barrington National Park. Dungog is a great nearby town and we finished our trip with lunch at The Farmer's Wife Distillery on the Stroud Road. Larger pot for making pasta.
- Marina (9/5): Superb -
- Olivia (10/5): Most relaxing retreat - My partner and I had the most relaxing stay in Cabin 1. From the warm fireplace, to the cosy lounge, the comfortable beds, the spacious rooms, the deep bubbling spa, the equipped kitchen to cook our meals each night, the wildlife everywhere and waking to the sounds of nature in the crisp fresh air each morning. We could not have asked for anything more. Definitely one of our top stays.
- Claire (8/5): Great stay in a beautiful and very comfortable cabin. - The peace, the wildlife, the location, the comfort. The only problem: not enough hot water for everyone.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (9/5): Superb - Peace and quiet, Bath in floor with no rail or slip mats.
- Ali (10/5): Great! - Everything! Nothing
- Kristy (10/5): Great location and facilities. Would definitely recommend -
- Ahmad (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place
A taste of wilderness and bush in a very well equipped cabin. Great hot-tub as part of the oversized bathroom.
The most wildlife I've seen in a holiday property.
The king parrots in the morning were just splendid... clever and friendly creatures.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - The tranquility The rain
- Madeline (8/5): Chichester Retreat was very enjoyable and would definitely book again! - The remoteness and how relaxing and serene it was. No internet.
- Mitchell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yaroslav (10/5): Will come again - Really quiet. All the creature comforts provider. Perfect to relax in front of the fire in the evening. Everything was great.
- Chi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (9/5): Superb -
- Esma (10/5): Really impressed by the service received and the high standard of the accomodation - Me and my friend were very happy with the accomodation and the hospitality we received. We had a wedding to attend and needed to stay somewhere near. The owners kept sending me updates on how to best find the property (we are not local) which we appreciated. The place was very clean, the owners were very thoughtful to provide needed items and more, and the view from the cottage was exquisite. N/A
- Petra (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, wildlife, cabin is very comfortable and clean. Loved it
- Uttam (10/5): Unforgettable stay! Loved it. - Everything was amazing! Fully equipped kitchen, amazing views, beautiful setting!! One of the best stays I have ever had.
- Anita (8/5): Beautiful quiet location surrounded by nature. - Fantastic location with lovely birds and wallabies. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. The bathroom design is impractical for people with mobility issues. Very slippery floor tiles and the water goes everywhere when showering. Spent as much time cleaning up the water as showering.
- Cassie (10/5): Exceptional - The venue was absolutely beautiful. We loved the location. The cabin was cosy and lovely inside. Very clean and had everything we needed. Very thoughtful to include a picnic basket and board games. My 5 year old loved it and didn't want to leave. Loved waking up to the kangaroos at our door step. Really not much. It was a little difficult to get to. We got lost a few times. But overall we will definitely come back was great!! Thankyou.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jillene (8/5): Very good -
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- K (10/5): Serene retreat in the bush - It was amazing and serene, the cabin was a perfect size, clean and all amenities and necessities were thought of. The owner was a delight to deal with. Nothing, it was perfect!
- Rafael (10/5): This place ticks all of our family's boxes as a holiday destination. - Everything - wildlife, scenery, pool, distance to town, the vibe. Can't fault it. The only possible thing I can think of would be fly screens so we can let the breeze flow through at the end of a hot day.
- Winnie (10/5): Fantastic cabin in a beautiful location! - This is a fantastic place to stay. It was super clean, well decorated, cosy and set in a stunning location.
We had a slight problem with the switch of the stove and someone came straight away, at 8pm during the Christmas period! This made us feel very looked after. This peaceful cabin was a Godsend after our chaotic 2023.
- Amy (6/5): Peace and tranquillity we'll be back thank you - Complimentary shiraz on arrival was lovely. Host thoughtful and let us check in early. Nice shampoo, conditioner and kitchen cleaning items. Location is amazing. The wildlife and scenery stunning. No fly screens on door and some of the bedrooms meant couldn't have fresh country air and reliant on a/c. Cleanliness generally good but some minor issues eg plates dirty and a few bandaids by the pool. Great coffee machine but no coffee to match. Bath sunken which was unique and fun but maybe be careful if older or with little ones.
- Margaret (8/5): Beautiful views, peaceful and comfortable! - The peace and tranquillity, amazing views from the back deck, well stocked kitchen and we enjoyed using the pool and tennis court. Beds were comfortable and the whole cabin was very clean. It would be great if there were fly screens for the front and back door so we could have the doors open to let in the lovely breeze but not all the flies!
- Mandy (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the whole vibe of the retreat, I liked that there was everything you'd need for cooking, the bathroom in cabin 2 was beautiful. My daughter spent hours in the bath as it was as deep as the pool, she said.
The grounds were well kept, and there was no noise other than the wildlife and insects, which was bliss!
The rooms and entire cabin were spacious as if it were a two bedroom house. I'll definitely come back! That we had to leave, my children and I would live there forever if ever given the chance!
Maybe some draws for clothes or a cupboard to keep the aesthetic of a clean put together place x
- Andrea (10/5): Will recommend staying here to anyone looking for peace, quiet and nature. - Fantastic location near Barrington Tops Nat Pk
Peaceful, quiet surroundings in nature with wildlife coming up to the patio (wallabies, birds)
Modern and well-kept pool/recreation area surrounded by palms and gum trees We missed having a map of the area, e.g. walking trails.
Note that there is practically no mobile reception (or wi-fi – not suited for work).
Note that there is no washing machine when considering longer stays.
- Wei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pengilley (10/5): Exceptional - The serenity and the host went above and beyond for our honeymoon couldn't thank her enough
- James (9/5): Superb - Great location away from it all. Quiet and peaceful. Wildlife literally at your doorstep.
- Jasmine (8/5): Very good - Loved our bathroom, in floor spa bath. Beautiful waking to the birds and wild life
- Caitlyn (10/5): Gorgeous stay, accomodating and informative host, scenic location, and the wildlife was wonderful - Beautifully presented and accomodating for families. Cate has added beautiful touches, including games, tennis rackets, the fire pit and a picnic basket.
Also we loved the pool and tennis court. Was empty when we went and super fun for us and the kids. Nothing! Truly beautiful location and nice to unwind. There’s no reception & no wifi, but I feel that’s part of the experience.
