Nice grounds that gave great privacy.
Awesome huge family room with a sensationally big tv. On a funny note…. I hit my head 3 times on the low door way going into the back bathroom.
No problems at all with the property.

- Harry (9/5): A great place to stay - Great location
Easy stroll to all the places in town
On the doorstep of the McLaren Vale wine region
Very nice property Very minor thing: some clothes hangers in the wardrobes would be nice

- Ashleigh (10/5): Great stay 👍 - Cute little cottage with a lot of character. Great lounge room to relax and unwind after a big day of wineries.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (8/5): Lovely! - Gardens and old cottage were beautiful. The beds were comfortable and beautifully styled. The TV was great for a movie. Easy access by car and bike to all amenities and attractions. A few extra instructions on how to warm the cottage up as very cold when we got there.
- Gemma (9/5): Superb - Great location for wineries
Very cute, house was modern with authentic cottage vibes. Clean, tidy. Close to cafes. Owners had great communication.
- Louise (8/5): Nice place to stay for a couple of days. Comfortable beds and good location. - Very comfortable cottage The iron didn’t work nor did the dryer
- Mairi (10/5): Great family stay! - Great house and garden for family
- Sandie (9/5): Great place to stay would very much recommend, Renee was fantastic with her communication - Very cosy and extremely comfy beds and pillows Was a little exposure to other guests staying in the studio cottage on the property, felt had to have all blinds down most of the time and whilst I was at the kitchen sink, the other guests walked right by the window and looked in
- Janet (8/5): Great stay. Perfect location. - Very peaceful and charming

- Annie (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -

- Sarah (10/5): A beautiful, cosy cottage stay in McLaren Vale! - Crisp beautiful bedding, COMFORTABLE BEDS, amazing garden, eating our dinner by the fire, cosy bathroom and we loved cooking in the kitchen! Huge TV and lounge area. Had a nice relaxing bath. 2 nights wasn't enough. Hosts were easily contactable and checked in with you to make sure you have a great stay. Perfect location and walking distance to shops. Can't wait to stay again!
- Peter (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our time there - AC in TV room not particularly efficient
- Karla (10/5): Exceptional - Great kitchen equipment and amenities, huge lounge room and TV. The beds were very comfy and warm! Fireplace didn’t work at first but we got it working. Needs more cozy throws in the lounge room as the reverse cycle is older and takes a while to heat the large room.
- Mina (7/5): The cottage was charming, the garden delightful - but fiercely cold in most parts of the house . - We really liked the garden and old stone cottage itself was charming. We liked sitting on the front outdoor lounge in the afternoon sun with a coffee, admiring the garden. The claw bath was lovely and held the heat. The shower head felt like a waterfall and the heated water lasted well for 2xpeople. The cleanliness and tidynes throughout the cottage was excellent. We liked the coffee machine and the supplied pods. Modernised kitchen with everything needed.
The bedrooms were lovely. Thankfully the heating worked well in both rooms and the bed and bedding was excellent! We slept really well. We liked using the large tv room (heated pretty well) and the large screen. The location was terrific and close to eating houses/wineries etc. It would be lovely to stay late spring/summer, purely for the inside temperature. Fiercely cold throughout most of the property which will reduce our rating, sadly.
We had to keep our time in the kitchen/bathroom/dining room/second living room to a minimum.
The heating in the dining room did not work. The notes/instructions could do with an update. The TV unit and access to wifi movies was a big drawcard for us and the password didn't work so we had to contact the owner and work out how to get it working - that was a hassle I could have lived without. However, the owner responded quickly to our calls and was accommodating and helpful. The lounge in the TV room could probably benefit an update (not very comfy), but was large and nicely set out. Coming in and out at nighttime was a bit precarious on the uneven stone pathways and the outdoor sensor lighting needs to be brighter and cover a wider space. A big walk from the car to the entrance - hard wheeling luggage in/out.
- Christine (10/5): Charming cottage stay. Step back in time and relax. - This historic cottage was beautifully presented. Magnificent flagstone floor and old fixtures.
I hope to visit again when the weather is a little warmer and dry, so we can enjoy the garden.
10 minute stroll to Coles and some great cafes for breakfast. A short drive to many fabulous wineries. A pleasant weekend escape! Nothing. Perhaps a heater in the bathroom would be nice. We visited on the coldest weekend in June.

- Mandalakoudis (10/5): Our experience at the Secret Garden in McLaren Vale was exceptional. - Nestled in the heart of the picturesque township of McLaren Vale, this stunningly styled cottage exudes tranquility, privacy, and comfort. With luxurious bed linen and spacious dining and living areas, it offers a truly indulgent retreat. The short drive to the many world-class wineries, stunning coastlines, and breathtaking landscapes ensures a memorable experience. I highly recommend this beautifully appointed cottage, complete with its stunning sun-drenched veranda and gorgeous garden, for an unforgettable stay.
- Narelle (10/5): Cosy and relaxing. Perfect little place to getaway. - Cosy and relaxing
- Phillip (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay, with a few adjustments, this place could be fabulous. - Beautiful property. The gardens were incredible, we particularly liked the living area The access to the property is unsafe. The path (crazy paving) is very uneven and there are no lights.
We had ants in the kitchen, a pest treatment or similar is needed.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Too expensive. No other option for attending wedding.
Couldn’t start heater. Beds very comfortable but lounge couches terribly uncomfortable, so much so, found it difficult to relax on them. Husband and daughter both hit their heads a number of times on door ways.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Very secluded and full of character. House stayed cool on the hottest of days. Very close to McLaren Vale shops. My wife loved the big screen TV! Bathroom doorway very low. Hit my head a couple of times, and I’m of average height. My own silly fault really and I hesitate to suggest putting up a sign because I dislike too many signs.
- Lee (10/5): Perfect spot to escape for a few days. - The cottage was beautiful, in a great location and well maintained. We enjoyed sitting out on the verandah with a glass of wine watching the birds in the garden.
- Madeleine (9/5): Great location, a pretty cottage. All the amenities included. We enjoyed our stay at Secret Garden -
- Ria (10/5): Exceptional -

- Stacey (10/5): Private cottage experience close to town - The Secret Garden is a beautiful property. We loved sitting out the front enjoying the gardens and the indoor space had everything we needed. A bonus was the huge screen TV to watch the footy finals on. It was an easy walk into town and close to Oxenberry Farm as well as several other wineries. Would definitely recommend for a romantic weekend away or a family stay. Nothing
- Melissa (10/5): Lovely period property close to town and the Shiraz trail - What a stunning property! We really enjoyed our stay, close to town and the Shiraz Trail. Well appointed property, very comfortable beds and the coffee machine was a plus. 2 nights wasn’t long enough! Thank you
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cottage and garden
- Andrea (9/5): A great place to stay for a getaway. House was well equipped with everything we needed. - Was well equipped and comfortable The main lounge suite was a bit uncomfortable
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): A perfect option for an authentic cottage feel in wine country - Fantastic location, beautiful house and garden, host was great to deal with and left easy to follow instructions. Really loved our stay, it was easy to feel at home there :)
- Christine (7/5): Comfortable - Location One bathroom and distance from bedrooms
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Melissa (10/5): Excellent choice - Clean, tidy and comfortable. Had everything we needed and nice and close to many wineries.
- Tracy (8/5): Very good -
- Cris (9/5): Superb - Lovely house with everything you need. Very clean, great shower and comfy bed. Great communication, easy to find.
- Daniel (10/5): Great stay in the heart of McLaren Vale, highly recommended - Big house with 2 large bedrooms and large lounge room, very comfortable throughout. Fully functional kitchen. Short walking distance to main street. There is a coffee pod machine but no pods provided. There is a second studio out the back with separate guests so this does reduce the privacy in the back rooms
- Sarah (10/5): beautiful cottage , great location - everything , just perfect nothing at all
- Andrew (9/5): Very enjoyable - Clean and close to wineries would of loved to use the outdoor BBQ however it was in need of a deep clean
- Patricia (10/5): We found the Secret Garden last minute and felt so grateful for this! It was hard to leave =) - Great restauration of a place with a sense of history, the garden and the rooms are a real beauty and offered a calm environment to relax and transcend into the new year! We loved the carpets =D Renee and Jarred were really good to communicate with. there are some mean mosquitos on the property but this comes naturally with the beautiful green environment, insect repellant was available
- Barbara (9/5): I chose the cottage for convenience of location and received the bonus of comfort and delight. - The beautifully curated old-world charm of this cottage was supported by excellent modern facilities, clear and helpful instructions for all equipment and the delight of a garden full of fantastic birds.
- Greg (8/5): comfortable relaxing and felt like home - Such a lovely little oasis snd a great base to explore the beautiful McLaren Vale wine region
- Matt (9/5): well appointed, cute cottage on the outskirts of town, great for two couples - good kitchen appliances, lots of different spots to gather, beautiful garden low door ways, missing some homely items - tea, coffee pods, kitchen scrub, board games, outdoor furniture, spare towels
- Jan (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Excellent/brilliant. It far exceeded our expectations. Location was great. No problem with neighbour - good. Everything exceeded what we were expecting Nothing, Everything was excellent. For the price it would have been good to have had a second toilet - in the rear hall?
- Ian (10/5): Recommend this facility to anyone. - Location on the edge of town was quiet and central to our sightseeing plans for our short stay. When indoors spacious layout quality fittings and kitchen extremely well appointed, nothing overlooked.
- Yvonne (8/5): Very comfortable and great location -
- Erinjuliet (10/5): Beautiful home. - Absolutely beautiful spot. Great location and the gardens were stunning. The house was gorgeous and very comfortable. I could happily stay there again and again.
