- Marina (10/5): Great location to stay near the hanging bridges and zip lines. - Location, price, and very nice host family. It’s near the hanging bridges and zip lines if you book with 100% aventura. Nice cottage with a nice view. We had a tour to the farm
- Elisabeth (8/5): We recommend this place - Big house with 3 bedrooms, well located, well equipped.
Dina did everything she could to make us feel at home.
- Phillip (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location, house was big and comfortable, farm tour was fun and the family that runs it was super nice. Interior walls are very thin and don’t block sound. There was a moldy smell that went away after we opened the windows for a while. Maybe invest in an air filter / dehumidifier.
- Andrei (10/5): Amazing mountain base camp to enjoy Monteverde - Great family owned property, huge and neat. The opportunity to see the farm with the family and even milk one of the cows - priceless! Amazing hospitality and you are about 15 min away from Monteverde by 4x4.
- Bethany (9/5): Superb - This house was up on a hill with a beautiful view of the valley. The best part was the family that owns it took us on a tour of their farm which was just up the road. They showed us the river, cows, fish, and pig and were generally very welcoming and friendly. The house is located near a lot of the tourist activities on the north side of Santa Elena. The house was comfortable and well equipped. The wifi was strong. The dryer was broken on the washing machine while we were there, but the owner offered to do our laundry at her house if we needed it. You definitely need your own car to get there and a willingness to drive on rocky, pothole filled, steep roads. We made dinner and breakfast at the house most days just to avoid having to drive extra on the roads and especially at night.
- Sharon (10/5): Highly recommend. Great experience and value for cost. - House was so spacious. Bathroom/showers were great (despite me initially being skeptical that there would be hot enough water). Lounge/couches comfortable for movie night with the kids one night. Kitchen had supplies we needed. Dina and Andres were SO HOSPITABLE and kind. Took us on a tour of their farm and a hike on the property. An amazing 1/2 day activity with the kids.
- Sergio (10/5): Loved it. - The location and view were amazing. I would return to this location in the future. It had nothing to do with the property, but the road to the house was not good.
- Fernando (10/5): Exceptional - Location is magical, hosts were super attentive and went well beyond for anything we required. They also gave us a tour of their family farm making the experience unforgettable. There was nothing we did not like. However, do read the instructions about requiring a 4x4. Although not necessarily essential, it does facilitate the journey.
- Dirk (10/5): Exceptional - Nice house in Monteverde region with 2 bathrooms. Dina is a hospital and friendly host and she offered us a tour of the family farm which was very informative and it was nice walk in nature down to a river.
- Ofer (9/5): Superb - Dina is an amazing host. It's worth taking this place just to meet her and her family.
The house is great but located out of town and the dirt road to the house could be challenging at night. Overall, highly recommended.
- Gary (9/5): Superb -
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely house. So clean and roomy. The family are amazing. They took us on a tour of the farm and let us get involved....great experience. Thanks xxx
- Rachel (9/5): Great place, would come again! - Clean, spacious and comfortable. Good location and well equipped. Swimming pool wasn’t really a functional pool.
Would benefit from bedside tables and a salt and pepper.
- Nikki (10/5): Lovely country home - Very clean and well furnished. Extra half bath we weren't expecting. Host is very attentive. Gorgeous view. Kids enjoyed going to hosts separate farm to feed and milk goats. Many bugs, but to be expected. Road getting there is rough and not much food nearby. Pool is more like a foot bath. Could use somewhere to store clothes in each room.
- Silvia (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (9/5): Nice host, -
- Suzy (9/5): Superb -
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - The family and their farm! Everyone in my family considered staying in this house, meeting the family, and visiting their farm to be a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica! The house is large, so we all had a lot of space. It was very homey, and we watched Netflix just like we were at home. They brought extra blankets, and we slept really well. There is a large traditional kitchen. We were visited by a neighbor's dog and cat who were both very friendly, but not a bother at all.
- Sophie (8/5): Great warm welcome - We had a wonderful stay at Hospedaje Bosque del Río. The host Dina was awesome! Typical Tica, so warm and welcoming. Even though she does not speak English and we dont speak Spanish, she really made us feel at home. The house itself is some what dated, especially the kitchen, but the location and Dina make up for it. She actually invited us for a tour of their family Finca (small farm) where we got to milk a cow and see some of their other animals. The real reason however to go to Hospedaje Bosque del Río was the tour Dina gave us through the jungle next to the finca. The beauty is amazing and Dina took all the time for us to explore the river and for the kids to play. This was really the highlight of our stay in Monte Verde. One of the two dogs of the neighbour comes over a lot and is a bit nervous. And the swimming pool is actually no more than 2 meters long and 0,50 cm deep so dont expect a real swimming pool. The kids liked it anyway.
