Guest Reviews
- Juan (10/5): - Stayed for two nights and it was comfortable and so peaceful!! Love ir!
- Alexander (7/5): - Good location (but up a steep hill of walking around) and lovely property in terms of maintenance and garden, friendly staff We had the two bedroom property, it is closest to the road (10 meters) and there is a lot of very noisy road traffic (loud mufflers etc) starting at 5am everyday. Extra guidance on what to do with rubbish would be helpful as self catering.
- Henry (8/5): -
- Sylke (8/5): Schöne Appartement- Anlage - Nah am Monteverde NP, perfekt zum Selbstversorgen. Unser Appartement war leider etwas dunkel. Die Anfahrt über eine steile Straße.
- LOLA (8/5): HABITACION CORRECTA Y CON VISTAS A LA NATURALEZA - LA HABITACION ERA UN POCO PEQUEÑA PERO TENIA UNAS VISTAS EXCEPCIONALES, CON MICROONDAS Y FRIGO...A 5M ANDANDO DEL PUEBLO Y SUPERMERCADO ANDANDO TAMBIEN MUY CERCA NADA
- Quesada (7/5): Small villa in a quiet area - Quiet place and close to nature. Toilet area completely open makes it really uncomfortable when traveling with somebody else. It is highly recommended to install a sliding door to separate the toilet area from the bedroom.
- Emily (10/5): - It was soooo quiet and the trampoline-thing to lounge on that’s strung up between the trees was a great perk, I used it every day! Very comfy bed. My toilet was obviously not cleaned despite having a dumb toilet paper decoration placed on it to show that it supposedly had been cleaned. The woman at the front desk completely ignored me for 10 minutes while I was trying to check in because she was just chatting with two other guests (she didn’t even acknowledge my presence). I’d still stay here again though if I came back to monte verde.

- Michael (10/5): Comfortable and spacious. Easy access to area's charms. - Loved the patio. Nice kitchen we could cook in. Very nice having staff on property. Good location, not far from anything. Low hot water pressure in shower.
- Kathryn (9/5): - Cute studio with kitchen, vaulted ceilings, large bathroom, private balcony and 2 bedroom areas. Parking on site on level gravel lot. Office staff met us after we arrived and called them, very nice people. Came in about 15 minutes. Very clean room. No AC, but the nights were cold so it was fine. Was further from town than we expected as there are many steep mountainside hills between the rental and the downtown area making it a very difficult walk but easy drive. Notified them that the blow dryer was missing and was told one would come the next morning, Pura Vida. 2 days later and it was still never delivered. Would have been nice not to have frizzy hair but okay. Glass patio doors had Screen doors to porch but the screen doors don't touch each other in the center or at the far side of the frames(large gaps, not small gaps) so bugs do easily crawl/fly in. Kept them closed during the day when we were doing other things and only opened them only briefly when we got back. No way I would keep the glass doors open at night without better secured screens. Would recommend replacing/repairing these.
- tomas (8/5): Correcte - En situat. Millor que a les fotos
- Rebecka (8/5): - Great location. Close to everything and nice and quiet. Good kitchen facilities, although the toaster didn't work and the fridge was not huge. Beautiful balcony with lovely lighting at night so sat out every evening. Comfortable beds and lovely big bathroom. Not much space to put clothes so lived out of suitcase which was fine for a short stay but may have been more frustrating if here for longer, especially as four of us.

- james (8/5): Overall very good stay. Gracias. - Spacious and new. Coffee was provided. Missing basic utensils such as spatula (flipper) and toaster.also no hot water at kitchen sink.
- Edward (8/5): -
Parkplatz vorhanden.
- Stewart (10/5): Very nice accomodation - Very nice self catering bungalow with a helpful receptionist. Wish we had been able to stay for two nights. Everything was fine but could do with a bigger road sign facing both traffic directions.
- Klara (9/5): Amazing stay – everything was perfect! - - Terrace
- Very comfortable bed
- Beautiful bathroom
- Lovely surroundings
The hosts were extremely kind, and the lady at the reception gave us excellent recommendations for local restaurants and trips. The place was beautiful, and the terrace was absolutely stunning. The bed was incredibly comfortable—honestly one of the best we've ever slept in! Whenever we had a minor issue, they resolved it immediately and were very accommodating with everything. We truly appreciated their hospitality Nothing
- Tim (10/5): Great place to stay with kitchen and balcony. - There are people at the office on site most of the day.
- Thomas (8/5): - Lage im Wald war sehr nett. Nasenbären kamen jeden Tag einige Male vorbei.
- Diane (10/5): - Room was quiet, lots of birds and coati to greet us. In room coffee, microwave and fridge. Very nice environment.
- Linda (10/5): Memorable experience in the cloud forest - The home was beautiful, airy, clean. The bed was very comfortable. Private jacuzzi on the 2nd floor terrace. The view of the treetops made a wonderful memory. Sun and fine must provided great rainbows. Close to town. We wished we had been able to stay more than one night
- Carpello (7/5): sweet, simple, and secluded amenities in a wonderful part of costa rica - wildlife viewing was great, convenient location because we had a car, quiet and overall super affordable, staff very kind and accommodating. as you would expect for the price, overall amenities were sufficient but no frills, no daily room service, sometime no staff on site in general the ceiling was falling apart, wind noise was excessive and overall the property was super small (a few cabins, no walking trails) overall amenities were sufficient but no frills, no daily room service, sometime no staff on site in general
- Ellis (9/5): Very nice hotel, with great location and fantastic rooms and breakfast. - We had a fantastic room with a first view of the Volcano and an indoor hot tub. The rooms were spotlessly clean and large. The outdoor facilities were very good. The pool was nice and there were 6 outdoor hot tubs. The breakfasts were outstanding and the evening meals were quite rich and pricey if you ate in the restaurant. Nothing
- Prendergast (9/5): - Lovely casita in the woods
- Philippe et Fabienne (10/5): -
- Carvajal Ramos (10/5): -
- David (7/5): - The cabin was close to the center of town. I wasn't expecting the cabin (garden cabin) to be underneath another room. The floor was wooden and we could hear every step the guests above us made. Also, I am 5'7 and I could touch the ceiling, so it felt cramped.
- Keara (10/5): -
- J (7/5): Good value stay - It's a quiet, private location surrounded by nature. We even saw coatis on our steps one morning. It's well kept and clean. The upstairs of the house where we stayed was spacious. The staff were helpful and we were able to be picked up on various shuttles for our planned activities from here. There are a few facilities that would make the stay more comfortable & practical for the muddy (and our case rainy!) stay in Monteverde. There were no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels after showering, no hanging space for clothes (although there was a chest of drawers). It would have been very useful to have a clothes airer for drying wet clothes when we came back from walks. Maybe a shoe rack for muddy boots too. The sofa (possibly sofa bed?) is uncomfortable & may need replacing based on the springs. The villas are up a very steep hill, just outside of town. This makes for a lovely location but be we found it difficult and expensive to find a taxi when the weather was bad and we rather not walk into town.
The two bed house is actually a 1 bed apartment with a separate studio below with its own key. This wasn't clear from the booking.com advert.
- Brieiro (9/5): -
- Raminta (10/5): - Very quiet place, in the jungle but also close to the city.
- Silvio (10/5): -
- Crouse (8/5): Thank you for a wonderful experience. - Beautiful area. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Part of the ceiling in our place was starting to come apart.
- Craig (7/5): - Affordable price. Clean room and nicely updated. Pretty setting tucked into woods. Hot water must have been shared with another unit. Went to take shower and just had barely warm water. Tried 1-1/2 hrs later and had hot water.
- Lynne (1/5): -
- Sarah-Maria (10/5): -
- Hauke (10/5): - Schöne ruhig gelegene Casa.. Man hat von einigen Tieren Besuch. Viele schöne Vögel. Alles top sauber.
- Janardhana Swamy (10/5): Highly recommend - Amazing view, nice hot tub with jacuzzi
- Martina (8/5): -
- Wolfgang (10/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Enjoyed the apartment, very comfortable bed and a great area to sit on the first floor to watch nature. - Loved the large window which allowed us to look out at nature, also really liked the jacuzzi . The apartment was very comfortable. Could have done with more lamps to give softer, ambient feel and maybe a source of warmth as it was a little chilly at times.
- Jasmin (4/5): - Great view. Nice animals to see. Bedsheets wasn't clean, but we became directly new one. It wasn't really clean, a lot of things were broken or didn't work (fairy lights on the balcony, broken light switch sockets, bad smell in the kitchen, cobwebs in the kitchen drawer).
There was no heating, which was really problematic on cold days, as it was really cool in the accommodation (17 degrees). In addition, there was only lukewarm water, no really hot water, which is also problematic on cold days.
The lack of hanging space for towels or wet clothes was particularly annoying. Since the accommodation is in the cloud forest, you would expect something like this to be available.
Overall, there were several small ir bigger things that were repeatedly annoying during our stay. For the money, we expect much more... the price-performance ratio is not right here.
- Alexia (10/5): Erholsames Wochenende - Alles.
- Adrian (9/5): Good option at Monteverde -
- Jeroen (7/5): -
- Mallaury (10/5): -
- Jan (10/5): Casas Clusia - Casas Clusia offers clean, comfortable rooms and the convenience of a full kitchen—perfect for travelers who enjoy self-catering. A peaceful and well-kept stay in the heart of nature.
- Eric (9/5): Superb -
- Garry (10/5): Great - The rooms were a good size with lovely decor. It was great to have a balcony to see some wildlife. The location was in a peaceful area and close enough to walk to the town. It would help to have somewhere to hang towels
- Shikha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Metrofunk (10/5): Exceptional - The room and patio were amazing The bathroom didn't have doors
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cori (10/5): It was peaceful, relaxing and comfortable! - We are so excited to have found Casas Clusia and we can’t wait to go back and stay again!
- Mark (10/5): Gorgeous tranquil stay - Spacious and clean within a beautiful setting. Very friendly hosts and the apartment is luxurious and well equipped.
- Pete (8/5): Very good -
- Ann (10/5): Excellent accomodations with spectacular view - It was a lovely, quiet, comfortable place to stay. I highly recommend the Suite with balcony for the view. Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the majestic views. The staff was so accommodating, elegant, professional, kind. There was nothing not to like.
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leo (10/5): Highly recommended! - It was perfect location where it was far enough and yet close enough to Santa Elena. Beautiful setting that was tastefully decorated and well maintained. Ideal location if you are planning the San Lucas Dining Experience which is on the opposite side of the street and is highly recommended. N/A
- Tom (3/5): I made a reservation but the listing was wrong. The hotel refused to own up to their mistake. - overall premises looked fine
good location in santa elena I made a reservation for the superior villa, the listing of which mentioned "1 living room, 1 separate bedroom and 1 bathroom". However upon arrival, there was no separate bedroom, just the kitchen/living room/bedroom in one open space. We ended up scrambling and leaving the hotel within an hour, finding other accommodations. After extensive back and forth with the hotel they acknowledged their mistake, agree the listing was wrong, but still refuse to issue even a partial refund for the fact that I didn't receive the hotel room I reserved. Highly recommend taking your business elsewhere
- Kellen (8/5): Loved our jungle-stay! - We stayed in unit 3, that had a kitchen, bathroom, and one king-size bed. It was great! Very spacious, beautiful large windows, exceptionally quite, and recently updated. The hot tub on the balcony was such a nice treat. We even saw a monkey hanging out in the tree while we were in it! We used the kitchen every morning to make breakfast, and found it adequately stocked with pots/pans, etc. We had an issue with the water heater not heating and I've seen other reviews claim this, but after contacting the hosts they fixed it immediately - if you run into this issue please say something so they can fix it! Let me start with: I would ABSOLUTELY stay here again. Don't let this dissuade you unless they are high-priority items for you personally. My biggest complaint was there is NO door between the bedroom and bathroom. If you want a hotel room with privacy from your travel partner, this is not the place. On our last morning we woke up with a few bugs in the bed with us, it had rained overnight so I think they were looking for dry warmth and perhaps we'd left the porch door open too long. I wouldn't blame this on the facility, but a note for bug-weary travelers, to use extra caution when travelling in jungle environments like this one.
- Konstantinos (1/5): Bad - It was comfy and clean No water in the sink. Shower water was cold
- Coughlin (8/5): Very good -
- Martina (10/5): 100% recommend - We had a wonderful time at Casa Clusia, we stayed for a few days but we would've loved to stay longer. The place is clean, well organised and absolutely wonderful, the photos are very faithful. The bed is one the most comfortable I've ever been to. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, we couldn't have asked for more! I'd gladly stay again The water in the shower wasn't very hot, but it was hot everywhere else, I'm not sure why.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): It was comfortable and we enjoyed viewing wildlife from the property. - We loved the extremely comfortable, firm bed. We also loved the big window for viewing wildlife. The location was great, a short walk to town via some hills. Our second night there, the tour company van alarm was going off constantly throughout the night. It made it hard to sleep.
The outdoor bath/hot tub seemed a bit dirty and appeared to be leaking down into the living room/seating area so we decided not to use it.
- Mitchell (8/5): Spacious and clean accomodation located close to town offering more than fair value for the price. - Casa Clusia is located close to town, though up a very steep hill that makes for a challenging walk. The accomodations were clean, spacious, and felt very private and safe. Everything was as described and we were very happy with our stay. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Few minor details overlooked - a stained towel, shampoo/conditioner dispensers not working so we used our own, and the hot tub that came with our particular unit released a lot of "gunk" so we elected not to use it (I'm guessing it had not been run in awhile). Otherwise a nice stay, would recommend.
- Dana (9/5): Superb - liked the views, deck ceiling fan or portable fan would have been good for airflow as it was hot and stuffy
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Szilvia (10/5): Beautiful gem in Monteverde even for longer stays - Casa Clusia is a little gem in Monteverde. It is a spacious, very modern, brand new apartman, with extraordinarily comfortable beds, high quality beddings, nicely decorated. Location is excellent, quiet, nice area close to the forest, there are a lot of high end hotels and restaurants around. It is very clean. We arrived late (after 22:00) but could take the keys from the keybox. The staff is helpful, friendly. They offer a lot of activities around, including the "original canopy" (we did not try this one), also in combination with other tours (like night tour, hanging bridges, etc). The apartman is fully equipped, there is a big kitchen, huge fridge. The bathroom is also very clean and nice. We really liked the balcony, where we could have breakfast one morning. The next day we went to "Cafe Capucchino y Restaurante" for breakfast, would return! WIFI in apartman was strong, stable. Good recommendations by host for shopping, restaurants (Sabor Tico, there are two in Monteverde, the first one was so good (near the football field) that we also triede the other one at the shooping center, but it was not as good). The temperature in Monteverde was very pleasant, nice warm during the day but cooled down in the evening, we did not need air conditioning. Actually, the warm blankets in the apartman did a great service during night to sleep under ! Nothing really we could complain about. We were so sorry that we could not prolong our stay. Monteverde was very windy (we were in March), we would hear the noise of wind at night. The bathroom tiles were cold in the evening, you need slippers.
- Denise (9/5): Wonderful. We loved it and would absolutely would book again! Great value for our money. - We loved the unit and the beds were really great and cozy. Reception was wonderful and super helpful. Location was close to town and they had everything you would need for a few nights stay. Wonderful all round.
- Robin (8/5): Great place at a reasonable price. - On this stay, we were in the smallest cabin of the three furthest from the road which was just fine for two. Wonderful place to stay with a very nice deck, bathroom, and kitchen. It was great that the kitchen was equipped with coffee. The hill up to the place can be a challenge, but the location was great with a "back way" that let us go north without going through town. The southern route is paved and puts you on the main road to Monteverde area. Close to everything but still quiet due to the hill and lack of traffic. This unit was missing a toaster which we had in the larger unit on our second stay. I'm sure they would have found one if we had said something.
- Jacob (9/5): Great apartment in lovely settings - Comfortable, clean, high standard of finish apartment with well equipped kitchen and outdoor jacuzzi bath. Owners/staff very friendly and helpful
- Jessica (10/5): Great family option in Monteverde - Very clean new property. Close to town.
- Carla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hazel (9/5): Superb -
- Randy (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (9/5): Beautiful, comfortable, well maintained and well located - Very clean and comfortable. It was very well stocked and located next to everything. We saw multiple agoutis throughout our stay and a team of 20 coatis made multiple visits. Nothing to dislike
- Jennifer (7/5): Overall an ok experience. - We rented two units. They were clean. We didn’t know until the day of our arrival that we needed to pay on colones. Our bank caps how much we can withdraw per day, so this was very inconvenient since we wanted cash for entertainment as well. communication of this booking would have been ideal. Additionally, it would have been nice to have a more secure place to put the trash outdoors. the coati were into it and making a mess almost immediately.
- Sally (3/5): very noisy. - best thing about this place was the Coati that came right on our balcony everyday and the location as it is over the road from San Lucas Treetop dining. it was like being on a building site. they are building 3 new houses right behind the house and it was so noisy from 7am.
the house is very basic and dark and there is no hot water in the sink in the kitchen just the shower.
