Guest Reviews
- soakimi (10/5): absolutely amazing - everything nothing
- Joanna (9/5): -
- Jayme (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful, comfortable. Highly recommend! - We loved the location, such a nice escape! The fresh eggs were so nice and the hosts were so easy to communicate with and super helpful! Highly recommend
- Václav (10/5): -

- Michael (4/5): A misleading listing with no mobile phone or internet coverage. - There are lots to like here but unfortunately, the negatives I have listed spoiled our visit to this property.
It is neat clean and tidy with a decent breakfast included. While there is much to like about this property, there are a few things that anyone considering renting it should be aware.
Despite the fact that the listing on Booking.com states that this property has free wifi, it has NO WIFI, No landline and no mobile phone reception. This proved problematic for us as we were attending a family wedding 15 mins away but were unable to communicate. Unfortunately, we also experienced an extreme weather event with heavy rains and flooding that could have resulted in total isolation with no means of communication.
Another disappointing aspect of the property was its pillows. The pillows (just one per person) were not of commercial standard. One pillow was stuffed with so much content it was twice as high as a normal pillow and unusable making using no pillow the only option.
The coupon for a "free wine tasting" that was advertised in the listing had expired in 2023.
One should also be aware that if you are a couple paying $600 for two nights, the second bedroom will be locked, as the owners demand an additional $150 to unlock it.
- Ella (8/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable stay! - The property was beautiful, lovely land and sweet cottage. The property was well maintained and easy to locate off the main road. The cottage was large enough with good ammenities included. Some aspects of the property needed updating, e.g., games were moldy, wine voucher expired in 2023.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Suzie (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Very relaxing. - It would be good to have internet connection.
- Yegor (8/5): Great nature getaway place! - Pool was outstanding - good size and depth. There were big wasps that bit me once but then when I communicated about it to the owner they removed it within an hour and issue disappeared.
- Lisa (10/5): A lovely place to stay. This property had everything and more - We absolutely loved our stay at Goosewing Cottage Would be great to have phone service
- Ethan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lu (9/5): Superb -
- Janine (9/5): A beautiful little homestead, and bedding and bathrooms were spotless, clean and overall this was a really enjoyable sta - Peaceful surrounds, comfortable and clean. A nice touch with breakfast Frypans need updating. All nonstick coating has come off. We couldn’t use it to cook the bacon and eggs for breakfast.
- Sally (8/5): Had a wonderful stay and looked past all the things that weren’t up to standard - The location , views , fire made it really cosy ! Loved the wine and a nice message for my birthday! Barbecue was filthy ! Had to clean it before we could use it , only used it once then gas ran out and the 2nd bottle was leaking gas . Door lock was hard to lock ! Blind chain kept breaking in both bedrooms ! Windows were very dirty and attention needed for cleaning around windows .
- Ross (8/5): A very comfortable and clean venue with beautiful grounds. - Location, comfort and cleanliness were very good. We struggled with the TV and instructions.
- Rishi (8/5): Simply stunning. Would happily stay here again. - Stunning, tranquil location - nothing but the sound of birds and cows in the morning. Very close to beautiful wineries with scenic views. The cottage is beautifully appointed. Check in was fantastic-classical music playing on arrival, the fire stove stocked and a lovely welcome hamper prepared. The information booklet was very comprehensive and includes discounts at certain wineries. The hosts were fantastic and quick to respond. Overall a wonderful stay. Just be aware that there is no mobile signal at the cottage and no WiFi. Not a bad thing to disconnect from life for a little while though. Similarly, be aware that getting to the cottage involves driving on a dirt road for a few kms. Again not a major issue. Also the TV didn’t happen to have any signal while we were there, but that’s just more reason to enjoy the nature.
- Brooke (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely quiet location, very peaceful. No reception what so ever. Pictures shown online are a bit outdated.
- Victoria (9/5): An escape from normal day to day lives - I like how secluded it was and very quiet and peaceful Probably not being able to go get dinner and couldn’t work out how to use the phone
- Martin (2/5): Do Not stay - location Worst Place we have stayed in.
- at trhe door we were meet with lenghly list of forbiden things, inclusive aircon use, according to the note left for us on the table to read, the owner can come in and turn aircon off anytime at own discretion.
- The lock to front door doesnt work
- No cold water in the fridge
- No safety deposit boxes in rooms.
- Bed is extremely uncomfortable, may as well of slept on their sun loungers.
- Pillows were worn off hurting your neck when you slept.
- Room furniture are old and deffinitely not what you may expect from $300.00 per night stay.
- Bed sheets were old and worn off.
- Fire Alarm located on the sealing almost over the bed in the bedroom do have green lights that was turned on constantly which is normal, however every now and then during the night a second light, red small spot of light within the smoke alarm was switchin on, it was turned off and on again for few hours each nighth we have stayed at this place. Fire Alarm upon inspection was visibly tempered with , it was sealed off during our stay.
I could go on but im not going to waste any more time. DO NOT STAY. Forr $300.00 per night there are much better, cleaner, safer places to stay.
- Joy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bilitis (8/5): Very good -
- Graeme (8/5): Quiet and relaxing - Enjoyed the extra little touches - breakfast goodies and wine
- Laila (9/5): Bliss in the Hunter - The serenity! Beautiful scenery, gorgeous chickens, this warm, inviting home had me relaxed and enjoying my long weekend. No blinds on the big windows in the bedrooms so unfortunately we were forced awake early.
- Vlada (10/5): we had an amazing time here, perfect find for 2 couples to spend a weekend in Hunter Valley - beautiful and cosy stay for 2 couples
- Melanie (10/5): A very unique and special experience, unplugging in this beautiful part of Hunter - apart from being in an incredible spot, the serenity and attention to detail were amazing! The lack of reception (none) can be difficult at times, when trying to navigate your way out for lunch or dinner, but a minor inconvenience
- Michael (9/5): Steph and Daniel made us welcome right from the start. We recommend this stay - The piece and quiet.
The warm welcome on arrival.
Having two rooms for a good nights sleep. Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Justine (10/5): Goosewing cottage was a fabulous stay fir some relaxing and walking. located close enough to the vineyards but still abl - The location was amazing. A cute, cosy cottage.
- Peter (10/5): Excellent atmosphere and ideal distance from Sydney with very interesting roads and scenery. - Breakfast was good and adequate, bed was very comfortable and hut well appointed. Surroundings very peaceful. A deep clean around window frames and fly gauzes (especially in the kitchen area) and shower floor necessary.
- Richard (10/5): Amazing!! -
- Deborah (7/5): beautiful nature but very expensive for what it is - the nature was wonderful please be aware there is no WiFi, 4G or mobile phone access. This was not indicated or clearly written or explained in booking.com
the place was not properly cleaned. there was cobwebs behind the bedside table, bbq was dirty and frying pan in draw was dirty.
it is also misleading in booking about the access to the pool.
- Tiffany (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Taylor (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable beds, very well fitted out, thoughtful touches like bacon and egg breakfast, local wine, beautiful surrounds and great bird life Nothing
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional - everything was beautiful and all the little extras really made our stay special
- Julianne (10/5): such good hospitality and a perfect little getaway ! - you could really switch off in such a beautiful location!
- Kaitlyn (7/5): Good - beautiful location, quiet and peaceful. fireplace was fantastic no wifi. and this was not clear when booking. it’s made clear through emails received after booking but that was too late to cancel/ find an alternative. Also need to clearly state that roads to/ from property are unsealed as this has implications for hire car. Felt somewhat misled.
- Anonymous (10/5): A very relaxing and enjoyable trip - Beautiful location! Lovely touches made us feel very welcome and relaxed! Very comfortable beds and everything we needed in the kitchen. Unfortunately I couldn’t work the oven/microwave but not essential for us
- Tammy (6/5): Gorgeous location. - Location was absolutely beautiful .
Breakfast was lovely. Unfortunately there was an incessant very loud "dripping" onto the chromadek roof right outside the bedroom window !
It was very cold and we were not able to use any warm heating downstairs and had to rely on the wood fire ( which was gorgeous) Unfortunately there was not a sufficient supply of wood and we had to use sparingly just to make it last until the last night.
