Guest Reviews
- Corinna (9/5): Wonderful place to stay, quiet with a great view from the balcony -
- Melinda (8/5): - Beautiful house and location, secluded! The extras were lovely- beer, wine, cheese and crackers and breakfast pack for the morning. Beautiful balcony to enjoy time/view As it’s an older building the noise travels, but it didn’t bother us at all.
- Daniel (8/5): Good! - Beautiful old building, nicely decorated, great atmosphere. Wombats and kangaroos outside, very picturesque Not clean
- Kimberly (7/5): -
- Ella (8/5): -
- Angelo (10/5): -
- Athena (9/5): Excellent place to stay, good value for money! - Generous and kind hosts, lovely country getaway Some areas were a little dusty
- Martin (10/5): A tranquil peaceful experience - We were running a bit late but the proprietor welcomed us . The room was warm and comfortable. The property is a grand ‘ol girl that is being well maintained.
Kangaroos in the garden in the morning to view made and the general tranquility of the place made it a memorable experience. N/A
- Lindeback (10/5): - Staff were lovely and accomodating
- Tod (10/5): Tod and Lauren - The rustic historical vibe, the extra bonus's of all the bar fridge, cheese and crackers, beer wine fruit ..so much, was an excellent surprise! That we only had one night!
- ELENA (1/5): We felt so uncomfortable and unhappy we did not stay. We left and drove home. - The location of the property was lovely, we saw about 20 kangaroos in the field next to the property. The house was run down, it was not very clean, it smelled bad, musty and some other unidentifiable scent. When we flushed the toilet in the room we were assigned the smell became even worse. The room was cluttered. This is a personal thing but the vibe of the property felt off, maybe it was the cabinet full of porcelain dolls!

- Isabella (9/5): - Wombatalla was a lovely venue exactly as pictured. The room amenities including breakfast were generous and exactly what we needed. We loved seeing the resident kangaroos, wombat, cat and dog! Note there is no wifi or phone reception which was amazing for a getaway but do make sure to plan accordingly. They have a selection of books and games downstairs which were great! As the house is quite old, there is fair amount of noise transfer from neighbouring rooms but it didn't bother us too much.
- Phil (8/5): - Superb, peaceful location. Beautiful building. Loved waking up to the birdsong and view.
- Guest (8/5): - size of the bed.
clean the road need to be wider. especially when its dark no lights.
revamp the building as it looks very dirty
- Alexander (10/5): -
- Lok Bahadur (8/5): -
- Gregory (8/5): Good value - Quaint small guesthouse in a forest- unbelievably quiet location. Generous do you own breakfast and drinks in room A bit jaded
- Arthur (9/5): -
- Sara (10/5): Highly recommended - Location was perfect as we were attending a wedding at the kangaroo valley bush retreat. The room was comfortable and equipped with all the essentials. Nothing we didn't like about our stay
- Courtney (10/5): Beautiful old country charm - We loved the old school charm this stay had, very beautiful and cozy. The inclusions/complimentary snacks were thoughtful and delicious. We very much enjoyed our stay and will be sure to tell others about it!
- Norma (10/5): Enjoyable and relaxed - Location and level of service. The complimentary goodies were great :-) Nil
- Jamie (10/5): -
- Umangi (8/5): Amazing place and great value for money! - Loved the complimentary goodies and the book room was a nice touch to the place. I especially loved the games room where board games were readily available, and we enjoyed playing as a family some cards and chess. The outside swing could have a cleaner cushion so people can sit down in nature and enjoy watching the kangaroos and listen to the birds.
- Natalie (10/5): -
- RAN (10/5): pleasant experience - A very lovely house with the very welcome host here~ we really enjoyed time here and the wombat was in the yard during night
- Simon (9/5): -
- Lagomarsino (9/5): -
- Lourdes (10/5): Amazing experience - We love the style of the big house, it makes you feel in a movie. And all the nature around, we saw kangaroos, wombats, birds, a beauty.
Also very attentive Pat in allowing us to arrive after the check-in time, very grateful. Nothing, everything was excellent.
- Zamorano (9/5): - Beautiful stay, great hosts and loved the complementary snacks and drinks. Would love to visit again.
- Anthea (9/5): Charming and comfortable - Beautiful historic guesthouse, the hosts are warm and welcoming and the rooms are clean and there were complimentary snacks, drinks and paracetamol among other things. The property is old, but that is part of the charm and not really a problem
- Helen (10/5): - The location is stunningly beautiful. The native wildlife, the bird song in the morning wow! It really shows why it's called Kangaroo Valley! Daisy the local 'guard' dog is adorable and so friendly, as are her "parents' (owners). The well.stocked fridge with juice, milk, water and fruit. Honestly just such a stunning property.
- Maria (7/5): - The property is a little dated, but the room was clean and comfortable and the host lovely
- Tyson (10/5): - Old style place that is amazing. Great views, awesome staff and super peaceful
- Svitlana (9/5): We would love to come back again. - Location is amazingly peaceful and tranquil Was too hot on the day.
- Graeme (5/5): -
- Chloe (8/5): Charming, comfortable and enjoyable stay - Wombatalla is a charming, quiet, beautiful place to stay. Its not often we wished we'd stayed longer but here we did (I'd recommend at least 2 nights). The location is lovely, the host was friendly, the bed was comfy, shower hot, the rooms charming (traditional style decoration and furniture), and the view from the balcony peaceful. There is a heating and cooling unit provided (although neither hot or cold whilst we stayed), a TV, fridge and hairdryer. My partner used the wifi which worked. The inclusion of a cold continental breakfast and snacks was a real bonus and made the stay special. Generally speaking we were very happy with our stay. The only improvements which would have made it 10/10 stars would be: Sink/ Toilet needed a clean when we arrived (cobwebs perhaps as the room hadn't been used since the weekend).
Fridge needs replacing with a newer QUIETER model as this woke me up each time it turned on throughout the night.
The house itself has the potential to be magnificent but it desperately in need of a Gurnee (or equivalent) as the outside looks very dirty/cobwebby which I kept noticing.
We didn't see any Wombats but were only there for 1 night and it rained the whole time.
- Diana (9/5): Thank you so much for the hospitality.we strongly recommend this property to enjoy kangaroo valley and surroundings. - Beautiful, peaceful place to relax and be away from the world. The view from the balcony is amazing! Nothing, everything was perfect for us.
- Alexandra (9/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): - Hospitality was unmatched! I checked in very late at night so Pat left a sweet note on the door and the fridge was stocked full of goodies. Made me tear up after a long drive and long day of work. Feels like home away from home. It is an old house with typical old house issues but everything works well and the vintage vibes are charming.
- Masoud (9/5): Peaceful, charming and calm - Everything about it,
- Joel (10/5): -
- Emily (9/5): Lovely spot in the valley - Lovely location and very generous provision of food and drinks provided by the host Nothing major, just a bit of surface dust on some items/ could not locate a tv remote
- Kristy (8/5): Homely stay, you will feel welcome here. - The range of food options left for us was absolutely amazing! So so generous, thank you. The location was great. Very near the shops and to my aunt’s place on Nugent Road. There were a few cobwebs & the soap dispenser didn’t work, but other than that, I love the vintage decor, the hosts, the food, the rest, & the option of using the bottom floor of the house.
- robert (10/5): Highly recommended - 10/10
Will definitely come back Bit outdated furniture etc but that gives it its charm as well.
- Jake (10/5): -
- Miryana (8/5): - The owner is lovely and helpful. The room was spacious and the fridge was full of food items, including breakfast.
The location is a 15 minute drive from the centre. One night quite a few kangeroos greeted us when we returned. Its a quite natrual bush area.
We enjoyed the tranquillity. The property is older style but it was ok.
- Sandra (7/5): -
- Mary-Anne (8/5): Comfortable and peaceful - My husband and I stayed at Wombatalla for 1 night to attend a wedding in the Kangaroo Valley. Wombatalla was only a 5 minute drive from the wedding venue at Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat. The bedroom was on the 2nd floor and had a sunny verandah where we were able to sit the next morning and eat breakfast, which was supplied by the guest house. The bed was very comfortable and allowed for a good night sleep after a big day of travelling 2.5 hours to the Kangaroo Valley and attending a wedding for 10 hours. The driveway could be levelled a bit as the bottom of our car scraped the gravel.
- Charlotte (10/5): Peaceful - Such a beautiful stay in a stunning location in country NSW. We thoroughly enjoyed getting out of the city and exploring the town of Kangaroo Valley. A really cozy, peaceful home. Thank you for having us. Nothing
- Martin Gemperle (9/5): -
- Alexa (8/5): - Beautiful scenery and very cozy ambiance.
- Tara (10/5): Wombatalla has great facilities in a nice location, ensures priceless hospitality is experience - Location is spectacular and breakfast is amazing Given the many accommodation we have gone through in many decades of travelling this accommodation stands out because of the hospitality and freedom the venue offers that over compensate the value of money we paid
- Marie (9/5): Wonderful - Very sweet old style BnB with the loveliest hosts Was all great
- Yanny (10/5): Excellent - The accomodation was a cozy and lovely home setting amidst a large and tranquil farmland. The hosts, Pat and Jacintha were very kind and helpful to all of our queries. Unfortunately it's a rainy day when we visited Kangaroo Valley, no chance to see the wombats but a few kangaroos did come up the next morning while we were having breakfast at the balcony. The room was well furnished, the bed, hot shower was good. It also has a fridge stocked with snack and beverage and a toaster to toast croissants and bread provided for the guests. My good friend and I enjoyed the stay.
- Agi (7/5): It was a unique and enjoyable experience to stay in a charming house from a different era. - Unexpected complimentary food items and make your own breakfast ingredients with plenty of choice and variety, including fresh fruit, chocolate, pastries, ham, chocolate biscuits, drink options. Fun to discover we had cheeses and crackers and wine which we took to the lounge room and ate before a cosy fire.
- Cherrie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chad (10/5): Beautiful quaint bed & breakfast in a lovely bush setting!! - Love the ambience, the fireplace in the lounge was gorgeous! Breakfast supplies in the room was a lovely touch aswell as the complimentsru cheese and biscuits and wine! I was so so excited to see womats just strolling around the property in the evening! Such a lovely experience and will definitely be back! No complaints! 🩷🩷
- Kathleen (9/5): Very nice - Nice comfortable stay. Very generous with complimentary snacks and drinks.
An old house but very well maintained and clearly a very thoughtful owner.
- Charl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nada (10/5): Quiet, restful and restorative - Beautiful place to unwind and relax, so quiet and the resident wombat is adorable. There was wine, cheese and crackers on arrival and a lovely breakfast. We had the place to ourselves which was a huge blessing and enjoyed the slow combustion fireplace in the evening. We are coming back!
- Sueda (7/5): It must be great for a group - The design/interior is very nice.
The place is quite spacious.
If I was travelling in a group, I would have appreciated a lot more.
I enjoyed drinking a bottle of complimentary wine. There was a spyder web hanging from the corner of the room.
The blanket was clean, but had a distinctive smell that I don't like.
I like the idea of assortment of food, which I appreciated a lot, but the cracker was soggy and made me question how long they were there (as unopened).
Since the rating was superb, I expected a lot more.
- John (5/5): reasonable room at a decent price. bit of an older property. - It was available at an acceptable price, about $220 per night for a 2 bed room (1 king and 1 single) over the Anzac day long weekend. the room was as described and mostly reflected the pictures, however the beds felt a bit old and the property was looking a bit run down, the water is from a tank, there wasn't a breakfast, it was pre-packaged food in the room. In the end we booked 2 nights but left after 1.
- Takanobu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (9/5): Superb -
- Ben (10/5): A peaceful farmhouse tucked away in the countryside, with very accommodating hosts. - A very peaceful location tucked away in the countryside, a beautiful drive to get there and very accommodating hosts.
- Emmar (10/5): Comfort and Kindness in a beautiful part of the world - The room was very well equipped for breakfast - there was a well-stocked tea/coffee station and kettle, and a breakfast tray with fruit, pastries and cereal options. There was also complementary wine and beer in the fridge, and a cheese/cold meat platter! We were overly judicious the first night and saved some food for the second day, but the trays were all topped up when the room was serviced! The verandah faced the mountains and a storm put on an amazing show for us, plus there was citronella and aerogard supplied to make it more pleasant watching the sunset alongside any insects. The location was convenient, and although mobile phone service was sketchy, there was some free wi-fi available in parts of the property. The large spacious dining and sitting rooms downstairs were very well-appointed, although we didn't use them. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to KV.
- Marin (7/5): Good - Quiet, croissants, snacks, chocolate, cheese ,water, beer, and bottle of wine ,tea and coffee were provided complimentary .Thank you . At arrival,as I approached the reception, the owner dog alerted him of our arrival, The owner appeared, and as i turned around to fallow him to show as our room His dog bited my leg. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOG OUT OF LEASH, PUT UP A SIGN. After checking in, i returned, bringing to the owner attention and showing him the bite mark. He offered bandaids, bandaid, and antiseptic. Hi, insisted that his dog never did that before.I have to ring my doctor, hi, send me a script, I had to go and get antibiotics, and today I am having a tetanus shot and a consultation .
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- Bertrand (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristy (8/5): Very good - Room with lots of character.
The balcony was lovely.
Hosts provided plenty of food.
Very comfortable bed.
Beautiful location.
Quaint building with plenty of wildlife around TV definitely needs replacing.
There is no mobile coverage (but we enjoyed the break from our phones)
- Sharon (1/5): I actually stayed in the building for 20 mins and made my husband find new accommodation. - The place was dirty. There was nothing I liked. The list is way too long .
The place was dirty, there were cob webs hanging everywhere, the steeps up to the house were dirty and unsafe.
I could go on but I can’t be bothered.
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional - Hosts

Tea, coffee, pastries, jam, fruit, cereals & juice was plenty for breakfast.
Great shower pressure & comfy beds.
Great breeze on a hot day as well. Shame it was only for one night! Not a big deal but maybe a sweep of the verandah would be good.
- Julie (9/5): Short getaway to the lovely, historic Kangaroo Valley. This place is a short distance out of town but it is in a beautif - Very quiet and pleasant outlook. Staff very amicable and friendly. Lots of treats. Room and veranda was great.

- Tian (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay, surprised with lots of food and drinks provided free, nice facilities, friendly services!
- Jennifer (10/5): Warm Aussie hospitality in a large comfortable room with many thoughtful extras included - Huge comfortable room in beautiful bush setting.
Lovely warm welcome from Jacinta (and Daisy the dog alarm)Very thoughtful inclusion of all the makings for a late night cheese board or a breakfast picnic on our own private balcony overlooking ducks on the dam. Not a negative for us but the dirt driveway that might catch out low slung vehicles or less confident drivers especially at night.
- Hilary (9/5): Superb - Warm welcome by hosts, 2 and 4-legged. Lovely array of complimentary food and drinks. Most generous and thoughtful. Just what you need in this location. Shops and restaurants not round the corner. So quiet apart from the cicadas and birds. Nothing. Wish we'd been able to stay longer
