Guest Reviews
- Jeffrey Lee (10/5): - Everything was wonderful. Paradise on earth 🌍. Muchas gracias 🫂
- Cameron (10/5): Close to nature. - The accommodation & food are the best I’ve had in Colombia. The hard part was leaving. Wished i’d stayed another two nights.
- Gabriel (10/5): There are few places in the world like Mama Yeya Raices: astounding, a truly wild oasis! - I’ve stayed so many places in the world, and while there are many great ones, truly unique locations are rare. I can say with absolutely confidence that this is one of the most unique places I’ve ever stayed, the intention, community, aesthetics and care are unmatched. Amalia, our host, is extraordinary, she has built a dream in the jungle in an astounding way. I loved the commute across the river by boat, the elevated walkways, the trees and the incredible wood that the cabins are made from. We had an amazing amount of privacy and solitude. What an amazing place, i would recommend it to everyone and will definitely comeback.

- Levi (10/5): Experiencia de vivir en la jungla. - Cabaña tropical sin cristales en las ventanas. Solo mosqiteras.
- Marilyn (10/5): Off the beaten track and worth the effort! Beautiful relaxing place with lovely cabins. - Mama Yeya's was a very special place that we super enjoyed and would go back to. The food is great, Mama is a fantastic cook and we loved the pacific coast cuisine. We also enjoyed the hikes we went on with Oscar and Jonyi (Mama's sons who were home for Christmas break) - where Oscar took us out the back of their place along with his machete to help clear a path that isn't used all the time, and up to a waterfall where we could swim in a deep swimming hole. Jonyi took us on a hike to another waterfall and then we went tubing down the river back to town. The next day they helped us set up another day of tubing. Great interaction, felt like being guests of the family.
- Alexander (10/5): Perfect. A dream - Great home cooked meals. It was fun taking the canoe to get to the property Booking.com screwed up my reservation. Mama yeah was more than understanding
- Paola Andrea (10/5): Mágico - Fantástico lugar con personas maravillosas... Muchas gracias Salir de ahí

- Mauricio (10/5): - La ubicación del lugar y la atención. Podría haber opciones para las noches en el mismo hotel.
- Jolanta (10/5): The most beautiful place - Perfect spot to relax. Very quiet with beautiful surroundings. Dinner was delicious and homemade. Same with the breakfast. Nothing

- Monika (10/5): Wonderful natural stay - It’s super clean and by far the best stay in this area. The rooms were comfortable and private and had a lot of amenities that you can’t find anywhere else. They were very accommodating and provided delicious meals for us a la carte, definitely recommend! I liked everything, it was beautiful and they had put a lot of work into it
- Kelly (9/5): A great stay. I would recommend. - food was amazing, bed was comfortable. Very beautiful.
You have to take a boat across the river. Would have liked an additional fan and hot water for a shower.
It's tricky to get to, but worth it.
- Norbert (10/5): Not to stay here - would be a miss! - This is the place if you want to see the birds and nature. Very good hospitality by Mama Reyes and her team. And easy to book and comunicate with. Very impressive garden and hut and restaurant. Only delicious food made by the owner from fresh ingredients in an open kitchen. Safe, 100 % no problems here, compared if you dare the local restaurants in the village, where others got stomach problems... so enjoy Mama Reyes meals and relax! And tasty hugos! Helpful team to assist for incoming and outgoing - even for your transport from to Cali area. Nights no disco or music or shoutings - only the voices of frogs and concerts with insects and owls. Wlan only at restaurant area - no problem as good access with your SIM-card as long there is no power failure in whole San Cipriano. To enter the compound - you need to cross a river - no problem as it is good organized and somehow romantic. Might be a problem due to havy rain, which we had: but it was NO problem...
- Junco (10/5): Thanks for all ! - Thanks for all ! —
- Mark (9/5): Peaceful jungle retreat - A true jungle experience in a family atmosphere. Amazing south Pacific home cooked food. Quiet and friendly. Surrounded by nature. Helpful hosts in a peaceful setting. We loved the unique experience of riding brujas along the old railway to reach San Cipriano, but it's not for the faint hearted. Also great fun crossing the river on arrival, although we didn't realise this would be required! Phone ahead. Getting here - and away - is an adventure in itself unless you have private transport. Don't underestimate how long, hot and potentially uncomfortable the journey can be.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luca (10/5): Exceptional - A magical place surrounded by lush nature. The rooms are immaculate, clean, and perfect for spending one or more nights in San Cipriano. Away from the hustle and bustle, after crossing the river with a small boat, you are blessed by the tranquility this place offers. Amalia’s cooking is delicious and rich, with ingredients from her own garden. The hospitality of Amalia and her husband Victor knows no bounds. We feel fortunate to have experienced this unique place and its wonderful people. We would return anytime if given the chance to visit San Cipriano again, but next time, we would stay longer than just two nights.
- Therese (10/5): Adorable cabin tucked into a super cool property with friendly and helpful hosts. - I love that Mama Yeya’s is “on the other side” of the river, so you have to take a canoe to arrive. So enchanting! The food is absolutely delicious. The grounds are well-kept and beautiful with different plants, animals and butterflies. The cabin is immaculate. I felt like I was at a 5-star hotel! Book this place immediately. Everything was marvelous.
- Hanna (10/5): A unique experience deep in the jungle! -
- Torres (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is as pictured. Rustic done with taste. The location was perfect as you avoid the noise from the village but still are steps away. The food is very good. The staff has been highly trained and play their role of guardians of the culinary traditions of the Pacific and of the delicate environment. There is no other place like this in the small village, clean, cozy, the staff is respectful and very attentive and they do respect your privacy and silence. Perfect place to go with kids or friends. Super recommended! We will go back! They were renovating the fish ponds and therefore, the holes were empty but filled with rainwater and it rains a lot. I think they will benefit from closing them or build them into fish ponds again.
- Alexandra (10/5): Family Trip to San Cipriano - We recently spent two magical days and an overnight at Mama Yeya’s in San Cipriano - an enriching experience that our daughter shared with us. The proprietors, Dona Amalia and Don Victor, were gracious hosts, and Dona Amalia’s gourmet Pacific Coast cuisine was delectable and beautifully presented (we could hardly wait for our next meal)! The accommodations were well-appointed and tastefully decorated, and the bedding was very comfortable. Their son served as our guide for a hiking adventure to several waterfalls, followed by an inner-tube glide down a gentle and crystal clear river, where we were pleasantly surprised to encounter two sloths up close. It was an unforgettable experience at very good value. It was also very fun getting in to San Cipriano via a “Moto-Brujita” - a innovative form of transportation that makes use of an abandoned rail line that rivaled an amusement park ride! We highly recommend a stay at Mama Yeya’s!
- Luca (10/5): Exceptional - Amalia created a piece of heaven on the side of the San Cipriano river. The place is incredible.
The food is glorious Pacific goodness.
- Schwartz (10/5): An enchanting experience from start to finish. 5-star luxury in the middle of the rainforest! - We liked everything about our stay, especially the attention and loving care we received from our hosts, the location of the property in the middle of the forest, and the delicious, thoughtfully-prepared meals that were served. Everything was perfect!
- Muñoz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evelyn (10/5): Spectacular! - Mama Yeya is an excellent place to relax away from the noise of the main town. The cabin was beautiful and spotless clean. The staff were very friendly at all times. The food was delicious! I recommend this place.
We were able to leave our bags at the restaurant even before check in (which was very handy)!
We thank Mama Yeya and her family for this experience! Nothing at all!. Everything was fantastic!
- Glock (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sang (10/5): Amazing food - Fantastic place. The food is world class. Best Colombian Pacific cuisine. Make sure to let them know ahead of time to prepare the River Shrimp. It is out of this world. The food!
- Margarita (10/5): Wider - Staying in Mama Yeya Raices was a wonderful experience. The cabin is unique, it’s almost like a luxury experience in the rainforest without loosing the authenticity of the pacific coast. Everything was spotless and inviting. The cellphone signal in the area is spotty but the hotel offers free wifi which was very helpful. The cabin and the restaurant are secluded and I lived that because in town the music is always playing, in Mama Yeya you only hear the sound of the birds and the water. The cooking of Amalia (Mama Yeya) is from out of this world. Authentic sea food, served with fresh fruit juice. And the staff was very helpful overall and willing to help with everything. To go to the town you need to cross the river and you can do so by swimming or canoe.
- Sebastian (10/5): Wake up to get breakfast then go swimmming - Everything was great and as expected , a cabin in the woods away from everyone and alot of wild life nothing dangerous , a great adventure getting there , the people are very polite , we left our swimming mask misplaces various times and thay saved it for us . The hospitality was great the location makes you fell safe .
- Carolina (10/5): The best place to stay to enjoy San Cipriano. - The cabin was clean and well-appointed. It had everything to make our stay comfortable. The shower worked great, they provided many clean towels, the bedding smelled and felt great. The cabin had a mini fridge and a fan, and binoculars for bird watching. The property had lovely flower gardens with humming birds and butterflies. Amalia, the owner is a lovely person and cooks delicious food. I liked everything, including having to cross the river by foot or canoe to go anywhere else.
- Catalina (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was wonderful and really clear
- Joe (10/5): Luxury in the rain forest - Mama Yeya is a tremendous cook. Eat there every meal. The quality and value is great. The room is very nice. Luxury in a rain forest. And the service is top-notch. The location is across the river from the main town. This little buffer is good and bad. It gives you seclusion from the rest of the community, but it also takes a little effort to cross the river. This never was an issue for me. Any time we were ready to either go to the village or return, Mama Yeya's husband or adult children immediately came to transport us across the small river in their little canoe. And the river is so clean and beautiful! We planned to stay just 1 night but were so impressed that we decided to extend our stay. Highly recommended for a unique stay. everything was great
