Guest Reviews
- Alexandra Heard (8/5): - In really good condition. Loved that it was more or less off grid. It was hard to find and the instructions were very wordy. In the dark, without being able to put in the address, it is almost impossible to find the drive way without slowing down to 20km an hour on a fast road.
- Amanda (7/5): - Cool secluded private spot Eco toilet
- Veronica (9/5): -
- Steve (3/5): Disappointed. - Location. Very close to the bread fridge, pub and main road. Service from the owner.
When we arrived the directions to access the key were incorrect. We had to text the owner who admitted the information was incorrect and outdated. No apology.
Once inside, we found only one bath towel, one face washer and no bath mat. Again we text the owner only to be told the cleaner had left two towels etc and we were wrong. We weren’t wrong and received no apology.
Cleaner turned up whilst we were out and left one extra towel. No extra face washer or bath mat.Might seem minor, but nevertheless…
Finally, the compost toilet is located inside, right underneath where the bed is located.
In a nutshell, the stench is unbearable. Yes you can open windows but unless there is constant wind blowing the unbearable smell remains. Prior to booking we weren’t aware it was an inside composting toilet.
We have never complained before about a property, but in this instance we have no option but to highlight the issues.
We actually left after one night despite booking and paying for two nights.
We text the owner to say we were checking out early but she did not query why.
All we would say to anyone booking is, be warned and don’t say you weren’t told.
Overall disappointed with property and attitude of owner.
- Robert (9/5): - The kitchen was very well appointed, with everything one could possibly need. Advice on what to bring and local sources for food and beverages was provided from the owners following the booking confirmation before we arrived and was very knowledgeable and most helpful. The location was excellent and the twilight sunsets lovely. The steep steps to the loft bedroom might not be manageable for everyone. OK for us young seven-decaders though!
- Syou Rung (8/5): -
- andrea (8/5): Relaxing pause in tiny home away from home. - Beaut space in a great location on the island. Very well presented and thought out. The local produce waiting for us was a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. Our stay wasnt long enough which was all on us!
- Roslyn (8/5): Great sights, great food, easy access to/from island - Location was great for getting around Bruny No blind on the front door or kitchen windows so lots of light coming in early morning. We were driving a large vehicle so when opening the gate, the back of the car was on the edge of the road which made it quite dangerous each time we entered or left the property. We ended up driving into the Tiny House property opposite, opening the gate of where we were staying and then driving across the road. If the gate opened going up the hill towards the property and not the road, it would make entry/exit safer.
- Kiera (10/5): -
- Stuart (9/5): It certainly was tiny and eco. - It is so unique
- Caroline (7/5): - Liked the tiny house experience.
It was in a nice view and location close to bread fridges
While it was close to the main road, the traffic wasnt a problem. Unfortunately the smell of the compost toilet was always apparent due to the smaller than usual space.r
- Timothy (9/5): -
- Waldren (7/5): Peaceful tiny house on huge site close to the Bruny Bakers fresh bread - Staying in a tiny house was a new and pleasant experience. The site was very close to the Bruny Baker fridges. The site was expansive, private and scenic. The tiny house was very cosy. We couldn’t get used to the aroma of the composting toilet facility. A lit scented candle was helpful.
- Eliza (9/5): Neat and tidy and had everything we neeed - Specifically wanted to stay in a tiny house to suss out the design and layout Nothing, was fine
- Perry (4/5): Unimpressed - The picture window has a superb outlook. The kitchen is well supplied. The place was spotlessly clean. The biggest problem was the "Green Loo" - supposedly an environmentally friendly toilet, but in effect little different to a pit toilet. It was almost impossible to avoid the smell wherever we sat in the house, even with the bathroom window open. On windy nights (which was most nights) we had the choice between leaving the bathroom window open to dissipate the smell, but having the doors rattle noisily, or closing the window and feeling nauseous at the smell. Beyond the toilet we found the owner inhospitable; my wife had diarrhea and the owner seemed annoyed rather than sympathetic. The stairs to the bed were treachorous. Overall we were very unimpressed.
- Alexandra (6/5): Not for the faint hearted - Good location. Fully equipped kitchen, heated blankets, and a great collection of boardgames. Comfortable living area and bed. The house is very close to the main road with limited privacy as there's no blinds on the main window or door facing the road (a bit scary at night knowing that people can see directly inside). I have seen multiple people comment on this and it's not hard to fix so hopefully it won't be an issue for too many more guests.
The place has a lot of potential but had we known about the toilet we probably would have booked elsewhere. This needs to be advertised correctly so that people are aware of what to expect prior to booking because it did dramatically impact our overall stay. We've stayed in places with e-toilets before but none have been as unpleasant as this one. There's no nice way to say it - the smell that welcomed us into the space was vile. We followed all instructions, keeping the bathroom window open, the lid down and the door closed at all times, but the smell never went away. It was so bad that we avoided using the bathroom wherever possible (I haven't gone number 2 in 2 days), we had to brush our teeth in the kitchen sink, and we were genuinely concerned about food safety as the stove top is lined up against the bathroom door. There were empty candles around which suggested that other guests have been trying to mask the smell too, but no candle is going to save that space, there needs to be a solid investment into odour control.
There were other things that weren't clean but it's not even worth listing those as nothing can compare to the toilet stench.
- Jenny (8/5): - The Tiny Home provided a modern eco-friendly stay for us while on Bruny Island Guests must be prepared for the e-toilet facilities
- Jess (8/5): All that you need in a tiny home - How peaceful and quiet it was. The little flies/bugs that came with the composting toilet.
- Dean (7/5): Great place to stay, similar to camping indoors, great set up but l would prefer the toilet outside. - Location is good just 500 meters from the Bruny Baker who makes delicious bread and biscuits. We also like the fire pit, layout of the tiny home and the shower was great. Dishes and cooking utensils were a little dirty / greasy, had to rewash before we could use them. The smell of the drop toilet was a bit overwhelming inside the house.
Being Winter we couldn’t have heating on for too long as you ran out of power, very cold without it on.
- Anna (10/5): - We loved it here. Extremely well equipped tiny home in a great location. It has everything you could possibly need. Seamless check in and check out.
- Loïc (9/5): Superb -
- Ashlyn (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sören (9/5): Perfect stay for couples - Great tiny house equipped with everything you will need. Even the small kitchen is very well equipped with everything you might need to make any sort of home cooked meal. Excellent choice if you are travelling as a couple. The advertisement lists and additional sofa bed in the living room. There is a sofa but it is not meant for sleeping (although it might be possible). The tiny house is just meant for couples who will share the double bed in the loft.
- Katrina (10/5): Adorable Tiny House - An amazingly adorable little place in the middle of a field. Space from the neighbours and the road wasn't too busy. Enjoyed watching the wildlife come out to play in the evening but had to watch out not to hit them on the way back from dinner!
Love the off grid feel with stylish amenities and cute solar lights. Would stay again!
- Lorraine (9/5): Superb - The Tiny House is a lovely practical design, which was also very comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay. The house was very well equipped and it was easy to prepare a meal. It is in a relaxing location with beautiful views of the bush. We also really liked the location and close proximity to both Alonnah and Adventure Bay.
- Amanda (9/5): Really lovely place! - Sustainable Tourism. Cosy & warm. Watch your head climbing up the stairs.
- Kylie (8/5): Lovely tiny home, felt spacious for the size - Cute concept, very clean and tidy
- Julie (9/5): Superb - The tiny house is comfortable, cosy. Good geographic location.
Beautiful decoration.
The hosts are friendly and good with communication. Not enough privacy. No blinds on the window door, and kitchen window that give straight to the road.
I think outside we needed a little bit more privacy.Pictures on the website don't show how exposed it is.
- Colleen (9/5): Off grid holidaying in this well equipped and comfortable Tiny House is a great experience. - Its quiet location with a visiting echidna and off grid living in a cute Tiny House was very much appreciated. The opening and closing of the gate was awkward.
- Naidean (8/5): Very good -
- Imogen (8/5): Very good -
- Michell (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, walking distance to The Bruny Baker. Perfect place to reconnect with the nature.
- Huan (9/5): Relaxing getaway with comforting and warm atmosphere can make cozy home made meals - The host were very accommodating with all the necessary necessities met. It was a great experience to have kept green, especially living in the hustle and bustle of Sydney for a long time Everything was good, do like may abit more rubbish space if staying for a few days.
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Christie (7/5): Good - Location was perfect. Size of the accomodation was perfect for 1 and easy to locate once I found the landmark they told me to find.
- Christopher (10/5): Conveniently located, perfectly appointed and it’s the perfect getaway! - This is how all couples should live, less is more!
Everything you need is in this space. Splitting hairs really. Some road noise in the day. As a wine snob I would have liked better glasses.
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trudi (6/5): Cute, but be prepared for the reality of off-grid. - This is a charming, neat little cottage set in a bush setting. It has everything you need, a comfy bed, neat little bathroom, and sufficient kitchen facilities. A nice touch was the bottle of wine supplied on arrival. Had I known BEFORE I booked and paid for the accommodation that the property was off-grid and there was a likelihood I would run out of power after approximately 4 hours of running heating across two days (approx 1 hour after arriving on Friday night, and maybe 3 hours after being out all day on Saturday), I would have likely chosen somewhere else. Whilst there was a fire pit outside, there was no wood or kindling supplied to light the fire pit. And whilst the space is adorable, when it's cold, it's cold. Understand that you can't necessarily predict when the sun will shine to recharge the battery, it was apparent that perhaps the battery storage could have been better.
- Penny (9/5): Superb - Very cute house
- Judy (7/5): Good -
- Demi (10/5): Wonderful place to stay, highly recommend! - We loved the entire property. It was great to feel disconnected from the world in the bush. The tiny house was a lovely environment to relax in. It was comfortable, clean, and homey. We enjoyed the fire on our second night. The green loo took a bit to get used to, but overall was easy to use and very clean. We appreciated the effort to reduce water usage and produce some good compost, so no issues there!
- Christian (5/5): Disappointed - Close to most things Bit off false advertising here. Not a normal toilet but a drop hole and the risk of running out of power. Although it’s cute and all, bit expensive if you can’t even flush a toilet and have the risk of a cold shower or no aircon or heater. Also it says if grid, but you are right on the highway
- Angelene (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Loved the comfy lounge/day bed
Good kitchen facilities
- Fulton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (9/5): Superb - The whole concept of high-end eco friendly accomodation was great, Off the grid but still with comforts which make for a pleasurable experience, considering the terrible weather for the entirety of our 3 night stay.
- Brittany (10/5): Karen was a great host, and her communication was so helpful. We loved staying at this little property surrounded by wil - Karen’s communication was punctual and helpful
I really enjoyed the off-grid feeling of the property
There was lots of seated and light through the house
The outdoor fire pit was fantastic Nothing!
- Melissa (10/5): Beautiful tint house - Very nice place, just for conecting with the nature, explore around and have a quiet time Everything was good. Just for us we prefer normal toilets. I son't lile to have aroumd flies that come feom the loop, specially if the bathroom is next to the kitchen. For more that we tried to kept the door and the lid of the toilet close the flies continue coming out :(
- Meera (10/5): We have all we needed and we always want to experience to live in a tiny house. This is a great property for our experie - We have all we needed and we always want to experience to live in a tiny house. This is a great property for our experience. At night we saw lots of stars and love the fire. The host is super friendly and helpful. Thanks for the extra preparation to make our stay memorable. Nothing.
- Rikki (9/5): Superb - Amazing use of the space and innovative ideas by the hosts. Free wine as well :)
Lots of outdoor space and you're able to use the fire place
- Sharee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caoimhe (10/5): Beautiful and cosy stay - Gorgeous little home, excellent location, super clean and comfortable
- Martin (7/5): Good - Cute and comfortable little place.
Lovely location. The stench of the waterless compost toilet in the bathroom.
Absolutely no mention of it in the property description. Very off-putting.
No oven, just a microwave but definitely an adequate kitchen.
- Breanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (1/5): Your site showed 1 large double bed, 1 sofa bed. When we contacted owner she said only 1 bed and a day bed only to sit - Very cramped , no comfortable sitting area, no room for luggage. The one bed was up large steep stairs and you had to crawl on hands and knees to get on, ceiling so low couldn’t stand up.
We booked for 2 nights left after one.
- Sophie (9/5): Superb -
- Jade (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): An absolute joy and we both wish we could have stayed longer. - Once in a while you find a place that delights and surprises everywhere you look. You step inside and immediately there’s a feeling of coziness - like a great big hug welcoming you in. That's Adina Tiny House.
Smiles abound as you open every cupboard and drawer and find nothing has been left wanting. From the big things like the wonderful heating and air conditioning and great water pressure from the shower right down to the tiny things like the bottles of olive oil and the beautiful shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Or the great selection of books, if you have the hankering just to curl up on the full width couch and immerse yourself as the sun gently warms the living area.
The property was sooooo super cute and cozy. It was the perfect balance between a fully-featured contemporary home and a wonderfully casual country getaway - just on a smaller scale in this quaint little home, with beautiful views of the surrounding bush - forest if you're from the northern hemisphere. We both adored it! So much so, my wife is seriously talking about buying a tiny home for ourselves. Then again, why would we? Everything we could possibly need is right there on Bruny Island.
- Wright (10/5): Bruny Island is beautiful, and Adina Tiny House was the perfect base to see it from. -
- Anonymous (10/5): Awesome - I loved this tiny home. Great location central to Adventure Bay, Hotel Bruny and the Bruny Baker Bread fridge. Everything we needed was there for a great long weekend. Karen was awesome. She even posted me my knitting that I left on the couch. I would definitely recommend to any couple coming to Bruny for a long weekend.
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful and tranquil - There were wallabies all around the property Nothing it was great! Only minor issue was there was a lot of condensation on windows.
- Lauren (10/5): A relaxing time at a beautiful home away from home. - Everything was clean and sparkling. It was easy to find and had everything I needed for my stay. Little touches like the cooking supplies, wine, lovely body wash/shampoo/conditioner were a nice surprise too. I like the idea of the green loo, but found the sensation of cold air hitting my butt as I went a bit disconcerting.
- Nicola (8/5): relaxing - off grid and great location
- Ross (8/5): Great experience. - Great experience. Trained the whole time but had plenty to do. Enjoyed it thoroughly I think you need an awning. Somewhere sheltered outside.
- Pauline (8/5): Wonderful, we really enjoyed our stay. - the location was great, to be able to see Bruny and near groceries etc. Appreciated being off grid and the fire pit was great too the couch was a little hard for us. we need a little more back support these days
- Alison (10/5): Clean and comfortable and pleasant in a good location - I liked the low footprint off grid self sufficient setup, clever and functional design with lovely views from the windows, clean with a touch of luxury in the furnishings and facilities The sun in the afternoon on the deck facing west was a bit intense
- Jessica (10/5): beautiful, relaxing stay to really unwind - beautiful layout and very relaxing composting toilet was getting quite full
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Private farm / forest setting. Outstanding eco friendly set up. Owner has gone a long way to supply lots of extras. 10 out of 10.
- Stuart (8/5): A unique Tiny House experience. - We loved the location and appreciated the bottle of white which was sipped by the fire. It was handy to the hotel, the oysters, the cheese & bread AND the chocolate shopfront! The tiny house experience was probably not for a pair of 60+ year olds, with the stairs up and down presenting challenges in the middle of the night.
- Linda (8/5): Lovely, peaceful, beautiful Bruny Island at its best 💕 - The owners had thought of everything you could possibly need, from kitchen equipment and toiletries to pantry essentials like teabags, oil and condiments. The house was very cosy and despite its small size there was ample storage. Very peaceful and secluded. We liked everything about it but some people would find the steep steps and loft bed a challenge.
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (9/5): Very cute little house, well appointed. - Location was good, will be better when a few more trees etc are planted. Needed a tea towel
- Lachie (10/5): Exceptional - location was excellent. fire was great. all round perfect spot to stay for a couple nights. no curtains downstairs
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Bronwyn (10/5): Exceptional - Everythink was amazing. the day bed was the best, and being of the grid is somethink wonderful.
Thank for sharing your little piece of paradise with us. At the start to close to the road, and no blinds on windows facing the road.
But after first night they were definitely not a problem.
- Jane (9/5): This tiny house made a big impression - The house is very well equipped, well located and the hosts provided us with lots of local information. We really appreciated knowing what birds to look out for around the house! The Hotel is a few minutes drive away and the local baker puts out his bread (in fridges) a few hundred metres up the road. Our first experience in a tiny house was impressive! Nothing.
- Lloyd (8/5): Very good - A great location for our stay. Very comfortable & well appointed.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): satisfactory comfortable and good location - different experience but satisfactory all we needed fora 2night stay could do with a covered deck to enable dry access when it rains and also somewhere outside in all weather
- Kenny (9/5): Superb - It is a location that allows you close to the nature.
I like the idea of being eco-friendly.
The view is very good.
Veey convenient location, pretty close to major tourists spots. If there is a lid to cover the wood shaving in the toilet, that would be great. The smell is pretty strong , and I have to turn on the ventilation fan all the time.
There's an opened milk box in the fridge, and I almost drank it. If you can have a check while tidying up the room, it's probably better.
- Kristy (10/5): Relaxing stay in an amazing place. - Amazing place to stay. Clean and has everything you need for a very relaxing stay. Location was amazing, 5min drive to Hotel Bruny and the beach. Communication by the owners were clear, concise and very accurate. Easy to find and instructions were easy to follow. Thank you. Nothing. Exactly what I needed.
- Richard (10/5): Great short-stay holiday accommodation - All the earlier reviews are spot-on. Karen and Stephen have developed a very well-thought out small property that is very easy to live in. They haven't neglected any aspect that we can think of with quality inclusions, a very comfortable bed, and a wider range of quality kitchenware than many bigger properties provide. Nothing
- Nithilla (10/5): Great tiny house / off grid experience - Awesome tiny house in Bruny island. The instructions to get there were clear, the house is completely off grid yet has all you need for a couple of days. n/a
- Linlan (10/5): Wonderful place - It was a beautiful and relaxing stay. Love this place so much and will definitely stay here longer next time when we visit. This is a great place with stunning views in the natural environment and the host Karen and Stephen were so lovely. We really had a wonderful time in this Tiny house and high recommend this place if you visit Bruny!!
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (9/5): Highly recommend a stay in this tiny house. - The Adina tiny house had a very smart layout, felt much more spacious than I imaged a tiny house would be (first experience), and felt very new while being fully equipped with quality cookware, appliances, and conveniences. Space was used very efficiently, it was well insulated (only used air con once), had multiple regular showers a day, and the composting toilet was fine.
Superb location with a very quick drive to the Alonnah pub, and not too far from Adventure Bay. Huge windows in the living room give a very bright inviting area to shelter from the inevitable rain. It had plenty of storage space for our 3 night stay and 2 week Tassie driving holiday. Can't fault much about it at all - a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
- Wee (9/5): Very good overall experience and will be back again if I visit Bruny island again. - The uniqueness of living in a tiny house. It was our first time! There is not much to dislike!
- Rebecca (10/5): Relaxing - Beautiful tiny home, perfectly located. cost stay with all the amenities.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (9/5): it was fun staying in the tiny house - warm and comfortable noise from rd but only for a short time
funny thing happened in the night ..the wall banged as if something thrown at it ??? contracting metal ?? anyway it was a little spooky
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristina (10/5): Awesome private option to stay on Bruny Island - Perfectly located secluded hideaway - privately run and truly special (no mass accomodation). Overall design and furnishing very well thought through and of extremly high standard (incl. kitchen equipment) - nothing was missing.
Very good upfront communication on how to pick up key, location, etc. n/a
