Guest Reviews
- D (9/5): Will definitely book again! Very cosy! - Nancy is a very kind hostess. I arrived to Nancy's warm greeting and then met a beautiful, cosy and well decorated suite. The bed was incredibly comfortable! I slept like a baby.
Nancy is very pleasant, sweetly accommodating and fully bilingual, so every conversation was good. There is a garden here too, and I saw several species of beautiful local flowers. One amazing highlight was when I took a stroll in the morning, I saw a deer very close up! Unforgettable!
- Larry (9/5): Will recommend it to family and friends - Lovely 3 story home that felt like being home, 5 acres a short ride from the ferry, very clean, nice breakfast,
- Cameron (10/5): -
- Marco Antonio (8/5): -
- Michelle Marie (8/5): -
- Hsueh-E (8/5): - We had a good time staying at Gabriola central!
Nancy is a very warmth hostess and helps us for attraction guidelines. She also makes us a vegan breakfast which is super delicious. The bnb very close to ferry and town. Great experience here!
- John (10/5): - Great location, very comfy.
- Kara (10/5): Would recommend. - We stayed in the Family Room with Garden View and it was very spacious! Had a nice homey feel, breakfast was great, it was exactly what we needed for our stay. Thanks for having us!
- Mark Albert (10/5): -
- Ania (4/5): - Privacy. The outdoor space is neglected and uninviting. It was hard to find, no light outside, multiple doors with no instructions. The breakfast was horrible and scarce.
- Trista (6/5): Nice big suit lots of space. good location. (Family garden view) - Great location, very helpful friendly staff. Not 100% private staff share a bit of the space. But super nice host. Smelled like moth balls
- Rosemary (7/5): - Great location.
Nancy and Samuel very friendly and gentle people Liked everything. Nancy and Samuel provided a very comfortable bedroom and. Breakfast with home grown fried Tomatoes and fried potatoes etc
- Vincent (5/5): Comfortable bed and clean room. - The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Better accommodation for our schedule. Our hosts seemed to be late risers and we are not. Our breakfast was not ready at the agreed time and there was no coffee for us earlier.
- Ivy (10/5): Pleasant and relaxing stay - We have had a pleasant stay at the B&B. Samuel and Nancy are great hosts. They provide many useful advice in exploring Gabriola. The breakfast is a real treat. The room is clean, quiet and spacious. The location is perfect - close to ferry, restaurants and market. We will definitely come back to stay there in our next visit to Gabriola Island. none
- Patrick (9/5): Excellent hospitality and very good breakfast. - Super hostess & location
- Neveen (10/5): -
- Iryna (10/5): -
- Hui (9/5): - 位置优越,出入方便,房东热情周到,介绍岛上风景。早餐很好,满意👍
- Imogen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rose (5/5): Passable -
- Jessica (7/5): Great location, wonderful hosts - This was a great central stay for a bike trip on Gabriola. The room was adequately clean and towels/shower supplies were offered. The hosts were communicative and accommodating before, during, and after our stay (such as allowing us to bring breakfast up to our room and keeping our bags there until our ferry). They were both super kind and hospitable! The upstairs Family Room with Shared Bathroom is across from two other rooms and beside the bathroom. It's certainly not soundproof, and you can especially hear everything from the bathroom. Fine for a casual night's stay but I wouldn't choose it for a longer/more romantic trip.
- Jim (9/5): Will gladly make a return trip to this b + b ! - What's not to like ? Sausage and eggs , toast and coffee , delicious ! The best part was chatting with Nancy and sharing stories ; seeing the wild turkeys and 7 chicks from the porch swing , and walking in the neighbourhood . An easy walk to the ferry or the main shopping/restaurant area . Altogether perfect !!
- Jade (7/5): Good -
- Lalita (9/5): I will book there again! - The location is excellent, just a short walk to the amenities of 'downtown' Gabriola. The breakfast was freshly made, and our hosts were welcoming, accommodating, and personable.
- Alexandra (3/5): Poor -
- Sharon (7/5): Good - Location, comfy bed, good breakfast lovely hosts
- Christina (5/5): Very nice people who have a lot more to learn about B&B facilities, service and expectations. - The hosts were very helpful. They did their best to make us welcome and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and the linen was clean. The tea at breakfast was superior. We weren't informed that the suite was up two steep sets of wooden stairs (one of them outside). The hosts carried our luggage but it was still a challenge for me as I have a bum knee. The building was old and smelled musty. The plumbing was in poor repair. The room was cluttered and the wall-plugs over-crowded. There was only one arm-chair for two guests. The breakfasts were adequate but there's a lot of room for improvement in both quality of food and presentation.
- Young (7/5): We really enjoyed our stay on Gabriola and will return. - The location was great, very close to the farmers market, restaurant, coffee shop, grocery store, etc., yet only minutes from parks and forests. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We were concerned when we read there was sulphur in the water, but they had that under control.
- Hamish (9/5): An island getaway... - For some reason we were expecting just a continental breakfast, but instead got a delicious full-on breakfast each morning!! Bonus!!
The bedroom and living/dining area were spacious. I don't think there was anything that we didn't like...
- Lynne (8/5): Very good -
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely lovely stay. Very peaceful and very kind hospitality
- Georgina (7/5): A gem on Gabriola - The B&B is very central and the hosts were so welcoming and helped me work out plans for my short stay. She can offered to collect me from Malapensa galleries if I couldn’t get a taxi. There’s one shared bathroom which does need a new lock.
- Gregory (8/5): Very good -
- Ruby (10/5): Wonderful hospitality, very comfortable and special place -
- Alison (4/5): A clean place to rest your head but nothing more. - The owners are very welcoming and friendly. Gave us a run down on the nice spots to visit and events happening that weekend. The family room we booked didn't look at all like what was in the photo. The photo showed 1 large room with 2 beds, we had 2 beds in 2 separate rooms separated by a kitchen/dining room. The water is not potable and they gave us only 1L to drink for our stay, despite us being 2 people traveling by bike. When I asked for more they did refill the 1L bottle. Finally, the owners warned that the tap water smells of sulfur but I have never experienced anything like that before. I could hardly stand to shower it smelled so bad.
- Netanya (9/5): My friends and I had a lovely weekend getaway in this beautiful space! - Great location, friendly owners!
- Jodie (1/5): For the money, I would stay somewhere else until they get the water smell and taste sorted out :( - The hosts were very friendly The water had a very bad smell and taste, like sewage. Having a hot shower in water that smells like sewage is really nasty! Bed was hard and the pillows were crinkly, glad we brought our own. There is a one inch step that is unmarked and I smashed my foot into it and broke my toe.
I think it would also be a benefit to the owners to have a sign saying it's a B&B, It's a bit tricky to find.
In response to the property's response, I have lived where there is well water only and not chlorinated water. The issue that you have at your B&B is far more than just not being chlorinated, read other people's reviews. Earthy smell??? No, it was a smell of feces, not earth, I garden and I know the smell of earth!!! Also, I recommended that you supply your guests with bottled drinking water, with no address to that issue??? ALSO, the unsafe 1 inch rise or stair that I broke my toe on, perhaps that too could be fixed or the very least marked so that other guests to hurt themselves either.
- Bianca (10/5): Sweet getaway - The hostess and host were very accommodating, hospitable and personable. Very pleasant to talk to. They truly care about their land and their guests. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back in the future. There were a few spiders but nothing major.
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (9/5): Great location and fantastic hosts! - Enjoyed my short stay here. Location was great, comfortable bed, yummy breakfast. Nancy and Samuel were super friendly and accommodating! I would stay here again. Two flights of stairs to bedroom
- Suyu (10/5): I will come again. - The breakfast is very good. The location is close to the ferry. The host can speak Chinese.
- Caelin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandy (10/5): Exceptional - The service was great, it's convenient to the city center and the beach, we had a great time
- K (6/5): Pleasant -
- Thomas (9/5): Surprising spacious and well-hosted accommodation - We were warmly welcomed with tea into a very spacious entire ground floor of a 3 storey house. The kitchen was large well supplied with cutlery and a few treats left in the fridge for us to enjoy. This is a 5-acre property with most left in its natural state. Breakfast was exactly as we requested, which was most appreciated. They are situated very close to the ferry, which was handy as we didn't bring our car, Our hosts insisted on driving us back to the ferry and encouraged us to spend the last hour exploring the lovely campsite along the coast, close by. Across the road is the Gabriola Museum which is worth a visit. We were well hosted.
- Sherry (3/5): not impressed - it was central our own private space
- Cindy (8/5): a good spot to stay to discover the island - very clean and quiet. Hosts were wonderful people. Close to ferry and restaurants very spacious
- Ayala (10/5): Exceptional - Great cozy place for a family stay
- Jill (7/5): Good - The breakfast was good, nothing fancy, but they were able to accommodate our dietary needs which we appreciated. The hosts were very friendly and able to guide us regarding things to do and see in the area. It was very chilly in the room when we arrived. Having the space heated before arrival in cold months would be helpful. Pointing out where we might find extra blankets if needed would also be appreciated.
- Laurie (7/5): Good - Nice host. Location handy to everything Uncomfortable bed. Strong sulfur odor
- Casey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Fantastic hosts, nice place to stay - The hosts were excellent and could not have done any more to make us feel welcome.
We had access to a dining room, kitchen and lounge of our own.
The property is just about within walking distance of downtown shops and restaurants A door between the bathroom corridor and the dining area would give more privacy
- Marion (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing breakfast.
- Lynn (8/5): All and all, it was a great getaway. - The location of the B&B is very convenient especially the short walking distance to the village. The breakfasts could have been more varied. Having separate bedrooms was a bonus for when my son visited with his daughter. I guess because dampness is a factor on the island, the odor of moth balls was a little bit overpowering when I entered. But with a scented candle and a few incense sticks and opening windows made a big diference.
- Paul (9/5): Great first time experience on Gabriola - Nancy and Samuel were very friendly and accomidating. We would have enjoyed having tv to watch
- Gman0091 (1/5): Poor yet very friendly ! - Location and staff Very old / run down
And booking.com never mentioned it was on the third floor. Which made it impossible for us to stay as my mother isn't able to do stairs. And we only found out when we got there. And the island was fully booked.
- Maria (7/5): Good - Breakfast was good. The hosts are very kind sweet people. Our bathroom door doesn’t lock properly so it made us not feel safe to have a shower. The sulphur water wasn’t appealing. I think supplying bottled water in the rooms and fixing the lock and letting us know we would have to share the bathroom is a must
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Brenda (8/5): Excellent Location - Quiet location and super close to village. Recommend Fireside Grill (?) for dinner. Excellent pizza! Owners are very kind and helpful. Breakfast was ok.
- Wo (8/5): Very good -
- Yoram50 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tianqi (9/5): pleasure - The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the owners are very nice. breakfast is so good
- Bobbi (9/5): Relaxing - Lovely owners! Nothing
- Robert (9/5): Friendly staff, very welcoming - Staff
Location
Space Very old house
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neal (8/5): quiet and sunny deck for breakfast - Nancy the host was great
- Milena (7/5): This B&B was very eclectic and it fit in perfectly with the Gabriola Island vibe. - Nancy was very sweet and she went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible! This B&B was very eclectic and it fit in perfectly with the Gabriola Island vibe. It is super close to the ferry and the main strip with food and shops. There were a few unwelcome spiders in the basement suite
- Pammela (8/5): Very good -
- Jenna (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property, comfortable bed, kind and thoughtful host, central location
- Ram (6/5): Pleasant - The owner was very nice and the breakfast was very good. There is not much privacy.
- Judy (4/5): Disappointing - Location great. Big space but too cluttered. Half the breakfasts were good. Water smell, no air flow (windows didn't open or were covered over)
- Elizabeth (10/5): This is a wonderful place to stay while on Gabriola. Next time we will stay longer. Thankyou! - The location is close to amenities but also you feel like you are in the woods and surrounded by gardens, trees and peace.
The breakfast was very good, filling and with a good variety of things. We were asked if we wanted more so if you are still hungry can feed you some more. We had breakfast on the upper deck in the sunshine and really relaxed. The B&B had so much space. We had separate bedrooms and the bathroom was spacious and had everything you would need. If you had a longer stay there is a kitchen and dining area which you may be able to use. The beds were comfortable and we slept soundly. The host was so lovely and friendly. She gave us a lot of information about the island and people and places and a bit of the history. It was great. N/A
- Green (10/5): Exceptional - The owner was so sweet and good breakfast I liked yummy soy milk.
- Alanah (8/5): Very good -
- Mariaana (10/5): Exceptional -
- H (7/5): Good - Location was great, host was awesome! Nice breakfast. A little rough around the edges, but comfortable.
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb -
- Joe (5/5): Passable -
- J. (8/5): Very good -
- Anneart (7/5): clean comfortable and central - we liked the location for morning destination, and the cleanliness, we also enjoyed sitting at their BBQ ring and looking at the sky felt exposed with sheer or no curtains, especially in the bathroom
- Kovnats (8/5): Very good -
- Charline (8/5): Thank you Nancy - Nancy is a great host, she will do everything to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast was really good, we had pancakes, toasts and fruits but Nancy also offered eggs and sausages. The place is quiet, and the surroundings offer everything you need. Its also very close to beautiful places. I just wish there was a better dining/table setting outside to enjoy a meal :)
- Navid (7/5): Good enough for a few nights, decent value but probably won't stay again. - Nancy was a great host, very kind and hospitable. Breakfasts were simple and basic: egg, sausage, toast + jam, fruit. Good location. We got the lower unit and it felt very cluttered with stuff (drums, bookcases, desks, etc). Owners were storing many things down there. Granted, we didn't need all the space, but it wasn't visually appealing.
