• Diogo (7/5): Excelente localização - Localização e dimensão do quarto. O barulho que os gatos do apartamento fizeram durante a noite. A parte exterior do apartamento (zona de entrada) não corresponde à fotografia que está no anúncio.
• Giulia (9/5): - Very nice place. Shower was working very well and hot water was running all the time (which is not to be given for granted in Cabo Verde). The host (which was not the owner of the place, but just the lady that was working there) was very responsive, polite and nice. We liked it a lot. The area was quiet and safe. We also spent a night in which the room was free (although in booking it was indicated as occupied). So we stayed there without using booking. Considering this is a much convenient way for the owner, it was not for us as we were charged the same, even a little bit more I would say.

• Carlo Brunetta (10/5): A home far from home! - The owner (and staff too!) is so sweet, we had a good lovely time understanding our options around the island. The room was spacious and well-designed, curated environment and quiet part of town. We especially loved (and fully agree) on the environmental and sustainability goals that Casa Pau has. Almost every evening, many kids play football in the square in front of the house which were lovely moments of local real-life we will for sure treasure as nice memories! Nothing! We loved our stay!

• Joana (7/5): Local house near the beach - The host was very attentive and helpful (getting us a cab, letting us check-in earlier). The location is good, with only a 5 minute to the beach and a 10 min walk to the center of Santa Maria. The windows in our room were quite noisy due to the wind, which made it difficult to sleep well through the night. Also, we had a private bathroom but it was outside the bedroom which we weren't expecting.

Pudimos dejar nuestras cosas días antes (ya que teníamos un vuelo a otra isla) y el día del check out igual. La cama cómoda y la decoración sencilla pero bonita La presión de la ducha era poquísima cuando intentabas darte una ducha de agua caliente. Estuvimos en la habitación del piso de abajo al lado de las zonas comunes y por la mañana se escuchaba al resto de huéspedes desayunando. Solo había un secador para todas las habitaciones

• Henk (10/5): The place to come back to. - It is located in a local neighborhood close to the beach and the center of the village. There’s an extraordinary calm vibe in the house which I have appreciated very much. Breakfast is served upon request and there is a common kitchen and living room…..Room is simple but bright with a balcony and comfy bed. Staff is friendly and available for requests. There is a lack of water during several Hours but this is a problem of the island, not of the house. Maybe some gallons with water could work out for those moments.

The bed is really uncomfortable, I was constantly waking up to change my position because some parts of my body were numb. The window blinds don't do anything, you will wake up as soon as the sun rises. Basically you can't sleep properly here, which for me it's a huge downside.

The accommodation is very clean, quiet, and tastefully furnished – perfect for relaxing. A real highlight is the hosts, Berta & Rui: They are incredibly helpful and always go the extra mile to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Whether it’s tips about the island, organizing excursions, or small personal requests – they were always there to assist. We highly recommend Casa Pau and would definitely stay here again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
• Faye (9/5): Cute guest house - The decor is lovely. The bed was very comfortable and a great bathroom. We felt welcomed by Nat and surprised that the room was cleaned every day. Not a fan of this part of town, very dirty streets around the property. Check out at 10am which is way too early. Longish walk from the good restaurants and bars. Do not make the same mistake we did and go to the nearby Coconut Rooms, the worst restaurant experience I've ever had! Art Kafe is nice though.

• Christel (9/5): Cute Casa with Beachy Vibes - We had the room on the first floor with a private bathroom and patio. The room was very spacious and clean. It felt like a warm welcome, because there was some water and a snack next to the bed. The location is great. Near to the beach and a short walk to Santa Maria centre. Nothing big that I did not like. I’m used to hot showers, but there was only cold water available. Due to the hot weather this didn’t matter at all :)

• Luca (9/5): Fun vacation in a nice country with the most welcoming people! - the location didn't really have a special view but that's not always necessary and we were aware about it beforehand. We were in the middle of a local neighborhood which also has its charm! The neighborhood isn't a touristic one but it's a 5 min walk from the center. We didn't mind it. :) Be careful with leaving your doors open at night since there are a lot of cockroaches on the streets (which is normal for warm countries)

• Irene (9/5): A cool spot for a who like a creative design and coloured walls. - It was a very comfortable room with very creative furniture, made of wood. Everything was made by themselves. There is a kitchen, wich can be used by all guests. Everything is designed with passion.
• Abenedict (9/5): Great place to stay. - Nice large room on the edge of town away from large resorts. Great ceiling fan (no AC) which had a consistent white noise that blocked out all noise, for a quiet great night of sleep. Well planned room with plenty of practically placed shelves and hooks to put items. The 20 euro airport pickup for our 1am checkin went smoothly. 5min walk from a small grocery and the water where you can see a great sunset. Great communication with host on WhatsApp.

• Amy (10/5): A delightful gem on Sal island - I am so glad I trusted my instinct with this one and the great reviews I read about Casa Pau. Being at the heart of the community and away from the resorts was the best decision. Wonderful hosts, Rui and Berta are just brilliant, an excellent room and I felt as if I was at home from the moment I got there and could relax in the communal areas freely and peacefully. I look forward to visiting again one day and already miss the place. Having to say goodbye to Casa Pau at the end of my trip 😢

• Lukas (9/5): Very nice accommodation for a stay in Santa Maria - Casa Pau is a beautifully furnished house with spacious rooms and an extremely helpful and friendly owner. We felt very comfortable. The rooms are very clean. The kitchen can be used. Feels a bit like your own house. The area is a bit noisy in the evenings and it's a few minutes' walk into town.

There was a shared kitchen and table, which was also used privately by the host which is why you did not always have space to eat breakfast/eat. Also, the location is not optimal, to the actual beach it is another 30 minutes walk.

You also get access to a full kitchen and amenities for cooking. Santa Maria is also very safe for tourists. nothing too important - there was a bit of noise during the night from outside due to the stray dogs in Santa Maria (they’re everywhere in Cape Verde), but nothing horrible.

Make sure you visit Project Biodiversity's Turtle Hatchery on the beach by the RIU Hotel to observe the excavation of Loggerhead sea turtle nests, learn about the conservation of the species and have the chance to see baby Loggerhead turtles (each day at 4.30pm). You will as well get a chance to adopt a turtle and support this incredible organisation. Overall and without any doubts I would certainly come back to Casa Pau ! Note that I hardly ever leave any reviews :)
• Jennifer (9/5): Beautiful stay in quiet part of town - This is a beautiful guest house in a quieter part of Santa Maria. It's clear a lot of care and attention has gone into making everything perfect for guests, and we had a wonderful stay. The WiFi was a bit patchy in our room, but that's island life rather than the fault of the place!

• Patrícia (10/5): Perfect place to relax and renew your energy! - Berta was very attentive and helpful. The room and private bathroom were clean and spacious. The location was perfect as it was a 10 minute walk to the center and a 3 minute walk to the closest mini market, restaurant and beach. Description matched expectations!

• Megha (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely loved my stay at Casa Pau. Even before arrival, Berta was so helpful and wonderful on email. Was great to have a cab sent to the airport as well, as there aren't ride-share services in Sal. The guidebook on Sal was so wonderful and comprehensive, really convenient to have access to a kettle and fridge, and hearing about Berta's work was lovely. Walking distance from everything and particularly good if you're diving with Eco Dive School (who are also great)! Casa Pau was really so brilliant, couldn't recommend more strongly for anyone visiting Sal.
• Adi (8/5): Very good - Casa Pau is the perfect & quiet place to enjoy Santa Maria . The room was comfortable and clean, the location was great (not in the center but close to everything). Rui the host was amazing, helped us and made our stay pleasant.
