- jenny (8/5): - Wonderful interesting quirky place
Great charcuterie and wine platter on request
Great location
- Sharon (10/5): A gem of a place to stay. - Walking distance to the centre.
Comfy facilities, with lots of original furniture, beautifully decorated, so much to look at and a library too.
Fabulous breakfast and friendly staff.
We have stayed here before and enjoyed coming back as much as the first time.
A short walk to the Arts centre for the concert we were there to see it was the perfect place to stay. Nothing 🤩
- Jayne (10/5): Can't wait to stay again! - Beautiful room, gorgeous styling and art.
Very comfy pillows and bed and I'm very particular. Hot shower and everything super clean. Honestly can't fault it!
- Robert (9/5): -
- John (8/5): A great experience! - Great character, fabulous art, very clean and lovely staff
- Hayhow (10/5): -
- David (9/5): Quirky - Quirky. If you want a standard corporate hotel with the usual facilities, bland rooms and shiny staff this is probably not the place for you. If you like something a little different and unexpected, give it a go. Very little not to like. A bit of a trek into town but I like a walk. The bathroom was v small but perfectly functional. Everything else was great.
- Nicole (9/5): - Both Fantastic Bathroom
- Maurizio (8/5): -
- Laura (10/5): -
- Jean Hugues (9/5): Museum sleep-in! - Beautiful Location, amazing historical home, paintings & sculptures. Privacy locks in bathroom damaged
- Laura (8/5): Authentic in a great location - Very charming place with lots of character and authenticity. The location is excellent and perfect for exploring Fremantle.
Very convenient after hours checking in and out system, thank you. The shower needs improvement: the hot and cold water don’t mix properly so the temperature swings between very hot and very cold, and the water pressure is extremely weak.
Also adding a proper rubbish bin in the bathroom would be great. There was only a woven basket in the bedroom without a liner, which isn’t very hygienic especially for women.
- Ronelle (10/5): -
- Chris (8/5): Delightful Victorian Stay in Fremantle - The house was lovely, full of period features and furnishings and was very comfortable. Breakfast was continental and ample. Location was great - just a 10 minute walk to the centre of Fremantle and free parking was a bonus. We were the only guests on the first floor in the house we stayed for the night with a separate bathroom. If other guests had booked, we would not have wanted to share the bathroom facilities.
- Caitlin (8/5): -
- Andre (10/5): -
- Morag (10/5): Lovely stay Susie was very welcoming and accommodating.the pripery was lovely the art work and accessories were quirky.. - Lovely old property with many period features Nothing
- Kok (8/5): Pleasant stay - Good location Breakfast only served at 8:30am
- Fiona (9/5): Good stay - would choose this venue again if we are back in Freemantle. - Breakfast was good - continental for booking.com clients. Cooked breakfast available for a supplement. Rooms very nicely furnished and styled according to the building's age. Clean and well kept.
- Pera Bergman (9/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful, the house beautiful. We could walk everywhere .We loved our stay. Shower a bit too small
- Dionne (10/5): -
- Marcus (9/5): Our first choice place to stay in Perth - Exceptional breakfast
Beautifully designed and
- Melissa (10/5): -
- Bee (8/5): Traditional Australian late 19 Century house with stunning art collection. Great location and lovely host. - Amazing building containing stunning collection of original maps, paintings, sculptures, bronzes etc etc; a veritable art gallery. Friendly staff and owner and great breakfast. The huge verandah was fabulous and also original. The chairs/tables on the verandah were rather dirty, needing a good wipe down before being used. There was some traffic noise from the busy road.
- Ruby (8/5): -
- Peter (10/5): -
- Ian (9/5): - A well located accommodation near all things Freo but also a very quiet area. The room (and property) was full of interesting decorations. Great classical feel with a lovely garden to compliment.
- Amber (10/5): A proper BnB experience! - Lovely feel. Great atmosphere. The decor and artworks throughout are tasteful and interesting. Bed was comfy. The hot tap in the shower gets too hot to turn off and shower head cord zapped me.
- Michelle (9/5): Wish could have stayed longer - Relaxed atmosphere and cleanliness were great
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Cohen (8/5): -
- Joseph (8/5): - Het ontbijt. De lokatie
- Julia (8/5): - Location was perfect for us, Continental breakfast had a wide range of choices and plenty of it.
- Robert (7/5): Old isn’t always good - Good location Old and quaint, but uncomfortable bed, minute bathroom and too much stuff everywhere
- Sarah (8/5): A pleasant stay in a characterful property in a great location for exploring Fremantle. - Quirky and historic property in great location with parking. A good sized room with private outdoor space. It is a bit old fashioned and could do with modernising whilst maintaining the character and features of the beautiful building.
- dennis (8/5): - Location Hot water pressure was very low and didnt need to mix cold in with it and a 30°c day
- Lynda (5/5): -
- Howard (9/5): Intriguing and eclectic - Intriguing and eclectic, high end B&B in a period home. Great breakfast with personal attention from staff. Lovely garden. Location is adjacent to the old Freemantle prison - 10 min walk to town. Few if any modern conveniences - USB ports, power shower etc. But this is a late Victorian property.
- Celeste (9/5): -
- Mark (8/5): -
- Helen (10/5): We enjoyed the BnB aspect and felt like guests of the owners steeped in the antiquity of time - the vintage charm and eclectic artworks
- Pete (10/5): Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. Very friendly staff, great location and very good value - Great location and great atmosphere. We loved the art works that decorated the bedroom and hallway. Nothing. It was fantastic.
- Regina (8/5): It was very pleasant - Nice Hot water wasn’t hot
- Keith (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- zaen (9/5): -
- John (10/5): It was our Anniversary, it was a good day - Fothergills was very quirky, full of antique furniture
Very clean, and the staff were very friendly
We will definitely go again. There was nothing not to like.
But parking is first come first served.
- payet (9/5): I especially liked being able to have a nice leisurely breakfast and being waited on - The breakfast included was a bonus and the room suited me with a very comfortable bed The parking was not as had been advised as it only took one car to be out of place and I could not access the driveway. The nature strip was also tricky to drive on to and off.
- Pittaway (9/5): -
- Erika (10/5): We will definitely be back for short stays in Fremantle. - Beautiful heritage building. Stunning decór. Excellent spread for a Continental breakfast. n/a
- Sarah (9/5): Amazing stay :) - Amazing staff - answered our messages fast beforehand & also at the location always here to help
Room is designed for old fashioned - nevertheless the room was clean
Amazing breakfast - with fresh fruits
Distance to city was easy to walk (10min) —
- Adrian (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): We had fun exploring Fremantle and rottnest island from this hotel. Lovely place to stay. - Beautiful place to stay, loads of history and great art. Breakfast was delicious. 15-20 minute walk into the centre of Fremantle and the rottnest ferry. We liked it all.
- Robert (10/5): - Everything. The owner, David, a practicing surgeon, drove us around one morning and served fresh from Paris croissants. Susie and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was great eith plenty of fresh fruit.
- Ann (10/5): - Peaceful, sublime, relaxing, clean, nostalgic, attention to detail, close to Cafe set.
- Elaine (10/5): -
- gjelsan (9/5): -
- Robin (10/5): Brilliant - Absolutely everything Nothing
- Christine (10/5): - Proximity to central Fremantle attractions whereby everything is within walking distance.
Delicious continental breakfast served daily.
Creative artwork to admire & gorgeous courtyard gardens.
We simply loved reading the property history & admired the workmanship both of the original builder & for the work undertaken in more recent years as restoration & preservation of such a gem! Fremantle has quite a dry hot climate; preference for bed linen would be 100% cotton; our room linen was polyester. This small point would be my only request upon rebooking which we are keen to do later this year.
- Kerry (10/5): Lived up to my expectations - Lovely historic house ,, very comfortable , good breakfast , great location within walking distance to Fremantle ! Lots of great local art on display Parking very limited
- Les (9/5): Made our stay in Fremantle the best ever - The artwork and friendly staff We loved the property
- Andy (9/5): My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at Fothergills and would recommend it to anybody - The property was very quaint and quirky, which suited us very well, it was a short walk away from the town centre and near to the prison for a visit… The bathroom was a bit small but manageable, and at night the cicadas in the garden were very noisy, but that’s wildlife for you..
Other than that there was nothing we disliked..
- Sabine (8/5): -
- Kellie (8/5): Thank you for your hospitality, bed and linens were so comfortable. - Unique and offered something different It’s on a main road and our room was at the front of the building - quite noisy as roadworks are being arrived out.
- rob (10/5): Characterful and spacious rooms, a very comfy bed, a lovely breakfast, and warm and welcoming staff. - Characterful and spacious rooms, a very comfy bed, a lovely breakfast, and warm and welcoming staff.
- Melissa (10/5): - Stunning feels like a home away from home. Beautiful and clean.
- john (9/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): - Beautiful atmosphere, welcoming, and great location. As a solo traveller for the first time i felt safe and comfortable .I loved the quirky art and furnishings that added so much charm.
- Stephen (9/5): Lovely stay in Fremantle - It was very quant. The staff went out of their way to help us. There were lots of little extras free of charge. Loads of amazing artwork. Walk up the hill back from town. En suite bathroom was tiny and obviously built into the room at a later date as cheaply as possible. Annoying shelf above sink made wet shaving/ tooth brushing messy
- caroline (5/5): Room very tight had trouble getting through door into room passed bed and cabinet with suitcase very tight . Bathroom ex - Location It stated parking on site but there is only one spot off street good luck getting that one -
- Carol (8/5): Nice quiet place to stay. - It’s antiquity. Small shower
- Edward (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - The ambience, comfort, facilities, history and eccentric artwork of Fothergills makes it a standout experience however when you add the genuine care and hospitality displayed by David and his team along with the delicious breakfast in the delightful conservatory, you are left in no doubt that this is one of those rare gems that you know you will remember fondly for many years to come. Thanks David, keep up the great work. -
- carmel (8/5): - Breakfast was good The stairs in the property was hard for us to negotiate with travel bags being older travellers
Fine if your young
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Dazza (9/5): A great little find, amazing staff and a touch of nostalgia......keep doing a great job guys -
- Murray (10/5): Comfortable for the overnight stay. Great breakfast provided. - The room was very well presented. Finding Parking, needed to park on verge for duration of the stay.
- jason (9/5): - Good location The parking was a bit strange
- Angelika (10/5): Ein Kleinod!
- Lai Hung (8/5): - Breakfast included Need to move luggage upstairs
- Andrew (8/5): A quirky B&B with a comfy bed - The location was excellent as we wanted to visit Perth Prison which was a 5 minute walk away. We were able to leave our car at the B&B until after our visit to the prison in the morning. The room was spacious and the bed comfy. Continental breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The en suite bathroom was on the small side and could do to be refreshed.
- Julie (8/5): Enjoyed it very much thank you - Breakfast fantastic! Art work great! Lots of teas/coffees in room. No lock on bathroom door but no one else on our floor
- Stephen (9/5): Good place to start your holiday to south WA. - Location was wonderful. Very quiet area. No traffic noise at night. Bed was very comfortable. Lovely decor and wonderful varied art and artwork. Cooked breakfast excellent. Choice of continental breakfast food became less as the days went on. Crockery is getting very tired.
- Graeme (10/5): Relaxing and quiet - Excellent location, superb property, great decor and artwork make the stay special. Staff excellent, breakfast is great. Nil
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Hans-Peter (10/5): Sehr empfehlenswert.
- Adrienne (8/5): overal a very nice b&b but spoilt by bathroom and stairs - breakfast was fantastic -ambience lovely 2 flights of stairs to carry luggage shower and bathroom way too small
- Tammy (10/5): - I loved it’s unique style and heritage beautiful arts and it was beautifully clean and the staff were amazing

We enjoyed the breakfast overlooking the garden. The communal atmosphere was very enjoyable.
