Guest Reviews
- Jonathan (10/5): Perfect! - The house was in a great spot and the couple who own it are so lovely. The bathrooms were always clean, the bedroom was tidy and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with honey from their bees! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone going to Sheki. It was up a fairly steep hill which wasn’t an issue for us but may be a bit tricky carrying suitcases up.

- ningxin (10/5): nice trip - The hosts are absolutely warm-hearted. On the first day, I arrived here very early at approximately 7:30 a.m., and they prepared a big breakfast for me. Every day they provide free hot black tea for their guests, who are perfectly looked after. I also had a memorable birthday party in the house; we ate yummy cake in the living room, drank hot tea or wine, and had a pleasant chat. What an unforgettable experience for me! nothing^
Super consigliato.
- Marion (9/5): The hosts welcomed us like family. They were exceptionally friendly and helpful. - The breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty.
- Paolo (10/5): Great people and delicious breakfast - The hosts are the best humans you might ever encounter. They are friendly, always ready to help you, breakfast is great! Also, the structure is a bit up on the hill, so you can take a wonderful picture of the landscape It was no problem to me, but to reach the structure you have to walk a 100m slope with pebbles. There were two old Indian guests who had problem walking, so for them it was difficult to get there. If you have such problems and you're going by taxi, just ask the driver to leave you right at the entrance, otherwise call the hosts!
- Warren (10/5): A most welcome stay was had in the lovely and friendly mountain community of Shaki. - The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They treated us very well - we felt most welcomed there. Breakfast everyday was made with eggs from hens that they own. The meals were varied and delicious. Very near to a beautiful panoramic viewpoint from War Memorial. Place is clean, showers hot, wifi OK. We learned lots about the area from them and wish to return in the not too distant future. Only negative comment would be the steep and rocky ascent to their place. It can be dangerous if wet or when using in the evening.

- Anne (5/5): - The property had a beautiful view. Breakfast was fresh and there was plenty to eat. The hosts were very welcoming and kind. Our room was very cold and the beds were uncomfortable.

- Zdenek (10/5): - Excellent communication with the owner, he provided more rooms
- Paritosh (10/5): Lovely homestay with wonderful hosts! - The hosts were a really kind couple who were very warm and welcoming. The location was great, around a 20 min walk to the old city. They were also able to accommodate our vegetarian requirements, and we enjoyed having dinner at their place!
- Joanna (10/5): Very nice stay - The hosts are very friendly and communicative. We felt very well at their home! It was a very nice experience to stay there!
- Sławek (10/5): -
- Guest (10/5): - Their hospitality was awesome..nicat accompanied us all across Sheki and helped us to explore the beauty of the land..everyone in the family were so cordial and welcoming..they are good in English which actually helped us in proper communication..they also arranged city tour for us..they also helped us to explore across Baku with their connections..really enjoyed staying here and we wholeheartedly advise them..
- Emma (9/5): - Lovely hosts, clean, dinner available for 10 manat. Place to hang out outside and inside in communal areas. Can ask for space in the fridge for drinks which was good. Hosts can organise transport from and to Baku for a fair price (enquire with them before you travel to Sheki), can also arrange transport to Georgian border Previous reviews have oversold the view so if you are happy with a short uphill for your health it is a quiet calm place. Rooms can get warm but this is not a big negative as hosts are very happy to put on the aircon if you ask.
- Kamil Abbaszade (10/5): - Great and quiet place to stay at the end of summer!
- Luann (10/5): Great property in a quiet part of town - Hosts were incredibly kind and friendly, telling us interesting stories over tea, helping us figure out our travel plans, and making us laugh. They have all the information on transit out of Sheki. The room was comfortable, and the bathrooms were great. The sitting area overlooking town was really relaxing, a great place to hang out. If you ask in time, they can make you a delicious dinner, so inquire when you check in. Would definitely recommend. Loved it! Thank you!
- FUNEXPEDIA (4/5): - Good and friendly hosts
Gave extra jam and bread when asked.
Cheap compared to hotels in city
There are 3 common washrooms which is good * no AC and no fan - we came in August one of the hottest season. Had to sleep outside room to not feel hot. Inside a normal cannot sleep. Also they had only 1 fan which they gave other. As somome in tourism for years. They should have another fan
Owner told common AC cannot work for more than 1 hour because expensive. Out of fear we shut it down
* no balcony. All windows face only common varandah
* you need to climb straight up to a place full of stones, dirty. Very very dangerous to walk down
* the place is near city but walking alone at night is dangerous and scary
* no sound system- all rooms are near each other. Wafer thin walls. You can hear everything next toom
No value for money. We stayed in another family house which was 5 times better
Owners had compromised on AC service etc and constantly called themselves poor. (They told us they earn 300 manat per month from government as pension. They own 2 lands still called themselves poor and behaved very thrifty specially about the fan and electricity.
If you don't trust the review. Better stay 1 night. Experience the stay and then come back give a review.
- Kevin (9/5): - De hosts waren extreem vriendelijke.
- rookie29 (10/5): -
- kun (10/5): - The hostel is located halfway up a mountain, about 15 minutes from the main attractions. It feels like home, and the owner will explain everything about life here, including taxi fares, bus routes, and interesting sights. They also provide a clean, simple breakfast. They really want to give travelers the best experience. I stayed up late chatting with the elder about everything Azerbaijan.
- Zheling (10/5): Exceptional - It's a very nice house, not far from markets or restaurants, but you need to walk upon a hill. However, it's also why it's quiet and cool at night, and you feel like you are away from city noises. Rooms are clean and comfy and the living room is spacious. The host couple are friendly and helpful, and speak English. They helped us team up with other guests and call a taxi to the border. I read the reviews and knew it was on a hill, but it still surprised me as the last part of the road to the house was steep with rocks. Would be difficult if you have a big suitcase.
- Yong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nina (9/5): Superb - We really enjoyed our stay at shaki host house. The owner are very friendly and interested. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and the price for the dinner was fair. Thank you so much for everything!
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional experience - Super friendly and hospitable hosts. Had a great time. Highly recommended for authentic experience! Would definitely come back.
- Benjamin (9/5): Great cost/quality ratio. - Friendly and helpful couple. Good bed and food. Room without window. Uphill cobblestone access.
- Burckhard (10/5): A very pleasant stay in an interesting town - Extremely friendly and knowledgeable hosts
- Matt (10/5): Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights. The owners are brilliant and would definitely recommend -
- Viktor (8/5): Local atmosphere - nice local atmosphere with people in their home
- Hussain (10/5): Great house at a reasonable price - Everything is great and the place is quiet with a beautiful view of the nature. The owners of the house are a very respectful and helpful couple. To be honest, the house is located at the top of a slope, and the street leading to it is paved with stones. However, the distance is very short, no more than about 50 meters. But this does not constitute any problem.
- Larry (8/5): Great hosts. Nice view. It is great if you have light luggage due to a steep uphill walk. - Great hosts! The place has a local feel and is an short walk (5-10mins) to get to restaurants, markets, and walking areas in town. Walk or travel up hill to get to the location. Note that the bathrooms are shared not private.
- Sravan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Likhon (5/5): Passable -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Very kind hosts who genuinely tried to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
- Deborah (10/5): Authentic Sheki stay - Interesting and generous hosts. An authentic local experience. Great location. Walking distance to all sites. And bus station. Hosts will provide dinner. Or there are supermarkets nearby. We gained an amazing insight into local life.
- Jaek (10/5): Exceptional - I love the owner and his wife.
They are very gentle and kind.
My wife and I were stayed there
very warm and friendly feeling.
I like this house.
- Karol (10/5): Amazing place and very kind and hospitable hosts 🙏🏻👍🏻 -
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Delightful hosts who speak English and like to talk Good breakfast 20 mins walk to palace Need to park in town and walk up No heating in bathroom (very cold ) Mattress old and uncomfortable
- András (9/5): Superb - Hosts are very friendly and helpful. The house is close to the city centre, rooms are comfortable. Very good experience for cheap price.
- Ailis (10/5): Exceptional - The family were so warm and welcoming, we felt at home straight away! The breakfast was delicious and I paid 8 manat extra for a tasty dinner on our first evening. The location was great - very quiet but close by all Sheki's main sites.
- Simeon (10/5): Fantastic experience, yummy breakfast, and amazing hosts! - Fantastic experience, yummy breakfast, and amazing hosts!
- Carmen (9/5): Most gracious friendly hosts - Our hosts were so friendly and hospitable! They were so helpful to share information about the area and offered to help us find anything we needed and made suggestions of various places to visit and activities to do. The guest house is not located too far from many main touristy sites. Easy to access by foot and the uphill return was good exercise! Not as accessible by car, so that was harder to manage with a large suitcase. Would have been nice to have a separate seating area apart from the room and dining area. It was also pretty cold inside (Nov visit), though our hosts had extra blankets we could use.
- Jeff (10/5): Great start to your Sheki stay - The hosts Afghan & Naza were brilliant hosts. They were very friendly and helpful and we could have discussions in broken English and a translator (phone) about many subjects. Afghan even walked us to the markets. Breakfast was filling and we even had dinner at the guesthouse one night. Room was a good size and beds were comfortable. Good shower area. Oh, and a bonus, we were upgraded to a bigger a room. BTW, I'm from Australia, not Azerbaijan. Not a problem for us as we had backpacks, but the entry is a small gravel hill (only about 60 metres) that may be challenging with suitcases. Look for the blue door.
- Sayan (9/5): Superb -
- Sanghwa (9/5): Superb - The owners were very friendly and gave us detailed information about the surrounding tourist attractions.
I was able to have a conversation in English about even small family matters.
- Hasheer (9/5): Mountain village home stay by super host - Super friendly host. Prepared for us local delicacy for dinner. Breakfast was superb.
- Guorui (10/5): Exceptional - everything is good. i would like to come again!
- Bruno (10/5): Jackpot - Who books this accomodation hits the jackpot. Fantastic guesthouse, beautiful food, welcoming people, really nice Azerbaijan experience Nothing I just should have ordered extra food from them
- Amihud (10/5): Great place - Every thing
- John (9/5): We would consider coming back because of the friendly hosts. - The hosts were the gem of this property. They were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The breakfast was simple but fairly good. The beds were okay. The hosts let us put some things into the fridge. It was a good value for our money. Our room didn't have a full wall separating it from the next room. That led to more noise coming in at night. The beds were okay.
- Ayoub (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yoan (10/5): Exceptional - The place is located near Shaki old center and close to many restaurants and shops. I was well welcomed : the host are really friendly and reply quickly to all the questions you can have. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was good by the way. Be sure to book this place for your trip to Shaki! Everything was perfect
- Baía (10/5): Super cozy house, the kindest hosts. Absolutely recommend, felt like home! - * For sure this was the most emmersive experience in our stays within the 6 days in Azerbaijan. We’ve chosen to stay only 1 night in Sheki, but this place certainly change our mind right since the beginning. This couple is the perfect host if you intend to deep into the roots of an Azeri house, and definitely matches the vibe of the city.
* We arrived late after a long car ride through the mountains from Baku and were still planing on which place should we go to have dinner, even though we were super tired. After sharing that thought with our hosts, they immediately insisted on making us some food called dushbara (noted that they also have in consideration if you’re vegetarian). We couldn’t (and actually didn’t want to) say no, and it was the best decision we could have take. Everything was amazing, we talked a lot, laughed and got to know them and Azerbaijan culture a little bit better, as we so were so eager to since we first started to plan this trip.
* Best regards, from Ana and Luís :)
- Abdullah (9/5): Superb - We had a nice stay at Sheki Host House. The owners were very welcoming. The rooms were spacious and airy. They prepared a fresh breakfast for us and it was plentiful. They accommodated our late checkout request and helped us to move our luggage between the parking and the house. The house is at height and about 100 meters away from the road. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the house. Nothing
- Teresa (10/5): Fabulous stay - Naza and her husband very hospitable and lovely. Everything very good
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - By far the best guesthouse I stayed at. I am very grateful for the hospitality I received, I felt totally like home.
The hosts are very nice people and they speak perfect english and russian.
We had very delicious tea and breakfast there.
The place is very clean, the location is wonderful.
- Hyoungsoon (9/5): Superb - Host was very kind
View was one of the best Nothing
- Michael (10/5): Friendly family run guest house - Friendliness of guest house owners, who are helpful with everything you might need in Sheiki.
Location of the guest house between old town and new town.
- Job (10/5): Exceptional - A lovely homestay run by a very friendly older couple who also speak some English. The location is great and very central, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the breakfast is ample and delicious! It's a great price for quality ratio. The road leading up to the homestay is not in the best shape but can be driven with a sedan with some care and slowly.
- Pablo (8/5): Good place to stay in Sheki - Super friendly hosts. Best Dolma I've ever tried. Simple but good accomodation.
- Karim (10/5): Best stay in Azerbaijan! - The location was great, away from traffic, there was no noise disturbance or pollution. The house offered pleasant views of the surrounding hills and gardens.
The other guests were very considerate to us, meaning the communal areas were always clean, due also to the effort of the host family.
Afghan and his family provided us with a peaceful environment. They have been exceptionally kind to us, giving a true meaning to the word hospitality. Their command of the English language was good enough to be able to communicate effectively.
Our room and communal areas, including the 2 bathrooms were very clean.
Breakfast was simple but delicious, thanks to the addition of homemade items such as tasty plum jam.
Our stay was enhanced by being given the opportunity to hike in the tall caucasus mountains. Nicat, the son of the family, was able to take us in a walking experience in the heart of the Caucasus mountains. That hike was the highlight of our trip to Azerbaijan. Nicat expertly guided us to the summer pastures, above Sheki, making it an unforgettable experience.. Nothing.
- Yuhan (10/5): Exceptional - The host is very hospitable. If you can't find the location, just call them. The breakfast is nice.10min walk to the center!
- Deniz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Syed (8/5): Very good - If you like to live with a local family, this place is ideal for you. Very helping, nice and humble family, Afghan and his wife. Whenever I ask for tea she always make it for me. She even offer to use their washing machine to wash our cloths. Very quiet, serene place
- Robert (10/5): Great place. Highly recommended. - A very cozy guesthouse with amazing hosts who will go out of their way to help you and make sure you enjoy your stay. Lovely views over Sheki and the breakfast was perfect. Tasty but not too heavy! This is more a case of just making other travellers aware - you do have to walk up a fairly steep hill to get there. If you’re carrying a lot of luggage, I’d recommend taking a taxi up to the entrance, especially on a hot day!
- Sanna (10/5): The most welcoming and helpful hosts. - We had a great stay at Shaki Host House! Excellent service, and the hosts were super helpful and welcoming. Good breakfast, and we had dinner there both our nights, which I truly recommend, great food and big portions. It was even possible for one of us to get vegetarian options.
This is the place if you want good food, viewes over the mountains and great service from the sweetest host couple.
- Fahad (10/5): A Home away from Home - Really enjoyed our stay here. Afghan and Naza made us feel like home, they are super nice and very welcoming. They made us Pakistani Pulao on our request and it was delicious. I would recommend to stay at here instead of hotel. I wish i could stay there more☹️
- Jovana (7/5): Pleasant stay - The hosts were really friendly and kind. They speak English a little bit. They welcome us with tea. Everything was clean and the bathroom was nice. The room didn't have a window for fresh air. The only window looks at another room. There isn't air conditioning. It's a steep and rocky road to their house.
- Hasinah (8/5): Friendly hosts, homely home! - The hosts, Naza & Afgan, are very friendly and helpful. They assisted us with everything and even helped us when one of us fell sick. They have information on the buses as well and cooked for us delicious meals. Just the slight walk up the rocky path, but that is OK.
- Andres (9/5): Nice Family Place - Great place in a family house. The host Nasa made me feel at home!
Rooms are comfortable and everything is super clean.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - The family was wonderful, excired to meet and talk with travelers, and incredibly helpful with recommendations. The house is located 15 minutes from the old town and all the sites you want to see in Shaki. Nothing. The experience was fantastic!
- Catherine (10/5): Excellent stay in Sheki - This was an amazing stay in Sheki with great conversation and hospitality. My hosts made me vegan food which I was really grateful for. Room was spacious and comfortable. Would stay again without a doubt.
- Salman (10/5): Warm Host - Hey fellow traveller reading this:
Afghan and his wife are beautiful host and their space is very clean and the bathroom. The beds are cozy and clean. The breakfast was simple and tasty. The location is steep up and high, If you are having heavy luggage and the taxi driver is not ready to drive you up, It will be a bit tiring to get at the top. I will recommend you to stay with this beautiful warm family. Hey fellow traveller reading this:

- Domantas (10/5): Thanks for hospitality - Amazing hospitality, clean room
- Hendrickx (4/5): Disappointing - Situated at the. remote area,as the taxi cannot find that place. The last 200m is dirt, stone and a very steep way up. Accommodation is a basic guest house. But a friendly owner. Assecibility and the price. Much too expensive.
- Ronald (9/5): Recommended - Enjoyed my stay here. It is a home stay but the guest rooms are seperate, and feel private. Good wifi, clean, easy check-in, the hosts are very helpful and spoke english, affordable, the food was good too. More fun/interesting than staying in a hotel
- Katari (7/5): Good -
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, beautiful hosts and a homely feel. The dinners prepared were some of the best, most authentic food we ate in Azerbaijan
- Matin (10/5): Very warm family with a cozy hostel - Very cozy place nestled near the top of the street. Couldn't have asked for more hospitable hosts, and their son Nicat, whom I'm lucky to exchange culture and history lessons with! Very delicious breakfast and dinner, and they are knowledgeable about places to see and visit. Shaki Host House is a central location, quite in the middle of everything, Teza Bazaar, the Bus Station, and even the old city (albeit a long hike up).
- Nicolò (10/5): They're great!!! - The whole family is very welcoming. Nazra, Afgha (sorry if writing wrong your names) and their son are gentle, helpfull and talkative. They helped us in getting information about places to visit around Shaki or taxi and public transportation. They also offer us a delicious chay and a cooked a great dinner when whe asked for. Actually the best meal we had in Shaki! The guest house is warm and gives you the feeling to be like home. The position is also great to reach the city center and the old town.
This is not an hotel, we highly recommend them if you want an authentic experience with amazing local people.
Thanks for everything! Nicolò,Viviana and Giacomo. All good

- Michelle (10/5): Amazing Hospitality! - Really lovely guesthouse in Sheki. Spacious rooms, everything is super clean and the wifi works great. Central location. You can reach the bus station, old city, and bazaar within a 20-25 minute walk. The family that owns and runs the guesthouse are some of the nicest and most genuine people you will ever meet. They make you feel like part of the family. Very welcoming, helpful, friendly and kind people. True Azeri hospitality. Highly recommended! Wish I could have stayed longer!
- Singh (10/5): Perfect for Different Experiences - This is guest house which is located on mountain, if u want to feel village life so should go there , i stayed there 2 days , we went to mountains with house owner that was good and breakfast was also good Nothing
