Guest Reviews
- LatterRain (9/5): - Very cosy studio, packed with everything you need including food for breakfast and supplies to cook your own food if needed. The place was warm inside with a heater and the bed had an electric blanket which was perfect for our stay over May's cold weather. The surroundings of the property are stunningly beautiful, and you can star gaze at night just outside of the property. Very easy to access, check in and check out.
- votano (5/5): It was useful as a place to sleep, shower and leave our luggage while we went to Mt Cradle. - The fresh eggs were nice.
Automated gate
Bed
Electric blanket. The room was cold and not well lit.
The Hut is essentially a garage frame, with a window, side door and carport, so the room is open plan with no walls.
The small tower electric heater was not efficient to heat up the whole room. A larger gas or wood fire would be more appropriate, given the cold temperatures here, especially in winter.
The shower cubicle is very small.
The handbasin runs cold water only.
No extra blanket for the bed - had to take the two single dooners from the single bunk beds.
It would have been good to get a tour of the farm and see why they call it Three Hills and what they do there.

- SUTCLIFFE (8/5): - Kitchenet and supplied breakfast. The friendlyness and cleanliness of the property
- Keith (4/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): Rural retreat! - The breakfast was great, even eggs! Location was easy to find, convenient to the Sheffield/Mersey area and to Cradle Mountain. Not shown in the kitchen photo is an induction cooktop, packed away in the cupboard, which meant we could self-cater. Bottled water was also provided. Everything was great!
- Peter (8/5): A bit different to the standard hotel/motel which is part of the appeal - Quirky but comfortable and well equipped Out of the way and requires a long drive on narrow roads to nearest food but is equipped well for basic self catering
Rien
- Mark (10/5): - Great location the host was very friendly.
- Bethany (9/5): Good place for privacy - Cosy and private. It was exactly what we needed for a romantic night away. The owners were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The bed was a little uncomfortable..
- Joan (5/5): - Very well stocked with food and all essentials. No outlook or view. No aspect - couldn't see any of the farm or any green paddock. Nowhere to sit outside. Not even a pot plant. Maybe a little garden across the driveway.
- Roxanne (8/5): A pleasant stay for a couple of nights. - The basic breakfast items were appreciated. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The tap water is not potable so 2 large bottles of water were in the fridge. This is probably a common thing in the area so more of an FYI than a complaint. Also, the bathroom sink is only a handwashing sink with a cold water tap. I used the kitchenette sink to wash my face before bed.
- Mireille (8/5): Aangenaam verblijf in deze ruime accommodatie. - Vriendelijke gastheer en gastvrouw.
Ruime studio.
Alles aanwezig om een ontbijt te maken. Bij regen, heel veel lawaai op het dak van de studio.
Een beetje fris in de badkamer.
Niet zo aangename verlichting.
- Sean (5/5): - Had ti make own breakfast Facilities
- Monteodorisio (10/5): -
- Errol (7/5): Lovely spot with nice accommodation. - Country location Kitchen
- Julie (7/5): -
- Megan (5/5): - It included all the basics plus lots of extras. The host was friendly and informative.
Information before check in was comprehensive.
The room was warm and comfortable. The outside is very untidy and it felt like we were arriving to someone’s private property.
For the price it was a little surprising.
- Paul (5/5): 2 nights was enough. I wouldn’t stay again - It was clean enough and in driving distance to Cradle Mountain Entered the property via a dirty dusty carport. The property itself was ok but there was nowhere outside to sit so felt a bit like a prison!
- maxine (10/5): Loved it all - Loved it all the provisions they left was above and beyomd Nothing just perfect
- Lauren (9/5): Lovely cabin near Cradle Mountain - Great spot near Cradle Mountain. Cosy cabin, the host had the heater on for our arrival and choccies too! Huge bed and very comfortable. Breakfast supplied which was much appreciated. If you want to be picky the shower head wasn’t great but being on rain water and remote location it was fine. Can’t drink the water but host supplied bottled water.
- Donna (9/5): Nice host and a comfortable stay. - They supply a fantastic breakfast! The essay one has to read to get into the place. Netflix was in Chinese.
- Pichaya (10/5): -
- Sanchit (9/5): -
- Essem Aries (10/5): Our stay was wonderful - The property is spacious and peaceful
- Marcos (10/5): -
- wells (1/5): Sad - Nothing really was old very very dusty my partner has asthma and was coughing and her allergies were playing up bad.... Nothing really was old very very dusty my partner has asthma and was coughing and her allergies were playing up bad....
- Lai Fong (10/5): Bucolic mountain setting - Comprehensive, delicious eggs, lots of choice of milk and toast spreads; fabulous views of the nearby Mt Roland Range and Cradle Mountain in the far distance; furry animals on the property for company Nil
- Jordan (10/5): Exactly what we were after! Greeted by a beautiful ginger cat called “trouble”. Got an awesome nights sleep before ventu -
- Mariko (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet and comfort place. Owner made room warm for me.
- Mark (8/5): Suited our purposes for a single night stay in this location. - Good location and suited our purposes. Friendly staff and cozy room. Good price. Despite an amazing view being available the accommodation room had no balcony or sizeable windows to take advantage of it.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable bed. Quiet. Excellent breakfast provided. Pages of rules to read about staying there and the prices for infractions.
- Ieva (7/5): We had higher expectations based on reviews. The place is dusty and dark, but the complimentary breakfast and working TV - Pros:
• Complimentary breakfast, including fresh eggs
• Working TV
Cons:
• Very dusty (not ideal for people with allergies)
• Dusty heater (not recommended to turn on)
• Only half of the bed has a heater
• Dark in the afternoon/evening
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Jules (8/5): Very good - Convenient, quiet, private location. Clean, comfortable, self-contained accommodation. Host Michelle communicated clear instructions with a friendly welcome on arrival. Facilities included fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, electric cooking hob, pans, dishes & cutlery, Also provided with bread, jams, eggs, milk, bottled water, spices & chocolate, hand soap, body wash, shampoo & conditioner.
- Laurence (7/5): Good - Loved the eggs, most unexpected. Would have liked more time to spend with the goats. A lot of your TV had been adapted to Chinese and I had no idea how to watch it.
- Peters (4/5): Disappointing -
- Gerald (5/5): The studio photos may have been taken quite some time ago!!! - The breakfast items were a nice touch. The property looks a little tired, especially in the kitchen where the wooden surface has become partly discoloured. There is little space to put anything down. The bedding is grey and doesn’t look inviting. We would not return.
- Junze (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (10/5): A great place to stay on your way to Cradle Mountain or other Tasmanian adventures. - A very cosy cottage that had everything you needed including a great breakfast. Took us a while to work out how to use the TV but got there!
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carly (9/5): Superb -
- Chutiya (9/5): Clean and cosy place - The room is clean and spacious. Lots of condiments and seasonings provided
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Had everything we needed and lovely helpful staff The shower head needs replacing, instructions on how to use the stove would be great.
- Choong (6/5): Pleasant -
- Louise (7/5): Ok One Night Stay - Easy to find, near Sheffield and Tasmazia, parking free and onsite, cosy and warm and simple breakfast provided. Was in a renovated shed, no power at first (solved when owner got home), very basic cooking facilities, screen door had torn screen, no shoes is the house policy and on accommodation is on a lovely farm, but you receive no information about whether you can wander around or not.
- Mia (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (9/5): Superb - Absolutely beautiful setting, watching the mountains at sunset and star gazing. Single induction hot plate rather than full double stove top, but everything you'd need and the breakfast included was a lovely treat! Would recommend
- Ian (8/5): Satisfactory for our needs - Location excellent for closeness to Lake Barrington, the object of the journey The accommodation is a nicely converted double garage. Given that its aspect is rather confined. this is unsurprising once you know it had been a garage, but one expects, given the property location to have a more open aspect over looking a rural scene.
- Rosalyne (7/5): Good place, clean and comfortable - Comfortable enough for a night
- Guy (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Ron (9/5): Lovely stay - Quite,well appointed,easy access Nil
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Close to Cradle Mountain in a peaceful location. Easy to find. Comfortable stay.
- Belinda (7/5): Pleasant overnight stop - Pretty area/location; good comfy bed and linen. Quite remote location. Kitchen amenities need to be reviewed as fit for purpose; way too many utensils and knives, however knives were blunt and no bread knife. Only one hot plate, so took a while to cook dinner. Not enough power points due to lighting plugged into kitchen, so used point beside bed to boil kettle. Kitchenette manageable for 2 but too small for a family (bunk beds available in room).
Main home was close to entrance so very little privacy and could hear owner and dog playing after check in. Male owner did not communicate that we had arrived so there was a bit of confusion after we returned from an outing and the female owner came to greet us.
The Hut is not a separate building but joined to a workshop/garage at the end of the driveway. This area could be tidied up a bit with chemical bottles etc showing this is a working farm. The room and amenities did not really have mountain views and outdoor seating etc: however the property does.
- Grant (10/5): Country hospitality. - Hospitality of the hosts Jason and Michelle was excellent, complimentary breakfast of cereals, fresh bread and eggs is a lovely and generous addition to our stay. Well worth the stay overnight with close proximity to cradle mountain. My wife said the bed was a bit hard, she suffers from hip and foot pain, maybe a mattress topper might make it a lot more comfortable.
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly host, the location was also great. The breakfast items provided were a nice touch. The room was very cosy.
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Yan (9/5): Superb -
- Allison (5/5): Passable -
- Therese (9/5): Relaxed, peaceful and comfy - Location was excellent for access to the mountains. Hosts friendly and helpful. It was very tidy and provisions for breakfast unexpected but appreciated, especially eggs Nothing
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erich (6/5): Quiet and private but room for improvement. - The instructions to operate the TV should have been displayed in more detail.
- Britols (7/5): Good - Complimentary breakfast and owner was very helpful and greeted us when we arrived!! The views of the area were stunning.!! Nothing.
- Ray (8/5): Very good -
- Heidi (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Johanna (9/5): Great place with good location for exploring the area. - Nice, clean and comfortable with all you can want for a stay. Good breakfast and welcome snacks make the stay just that little bit more special. Nil
- Brianna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruce (7/5): Good -
- Joelle (9/5): Just Awesome - Everything else! The whole place was really cosy and exactly like the photos and descriptions - king sized bed (rare as most accommodations seem to offer queen sized), TV with netflix/disney+/etc., fully equipped kitchen (microwave oven, induction cooker, pots and pans, kettle), complimentary breakfast (eggs, milk, cereal, butter, jam, condiments). We also had fun interacting with the farm animals (goats, sheep, chickens). Host Michelle was really helpful and responsive too. Highly recommended! Some difficulty adjusting the hot and cold water to desired temperature
- Leith (7/5): Comfy, warm and affordable stay in the Western Tiers with good access to Cradle Mountain. - Well set up for a comfortable stay..
- Angela (7/5): Good -
- Chris (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - Location was perfect for access to Lake Barrington rowing facility.
Michelle was an excellent host who was friendly and very helpful.
We would definitely stay again when in the area. We do not have any negative comments to make.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (8/5): a lovely spot. our hosts were very helpful - beautiful location, comfortable furnishings. not many windows, so quite dark and no bright lights

- Robert (7/5): Enjoyable - Location Better cooking facilities
- Nitai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leschen (8/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful, peaceful spot. - Beautiful location with great views of Mount Roland and surrounding mountains. Studio is small but comfortable. A few more fresh rather than packaged provisions for breakfast would be nice.
