Guest Reviews
- Cheryl (10/5): Comfortable and convenient, just what is needed for a relaxing break - Beautiful place to stay, close to everything in the village Nothing. There is nothing to not like about this place
- Barbara (9/5): Enjoyed our stay very much. very comfortable. - Eggs and Bread left for us for breakfast. did cook the eggs. Expected maybe bread and jam, maybe cereal. But this was enough.
Quirky accommodation. lots of room. Plenty of room. Internet and Netflix was very good. Bottle of wine was a nice touch. Would have been very warm in summer without aircon and not many windows opening,
Getting into the spar to shower, wasn't a problem for us , but could be for those less mobile.
- Patricia (3/5): Disappointing. The owners need to repair the windows and electric fans, replace the mouldy curtain and put in a microwav - Location and garden. The church had some charm but several window panes were broken, the fans worked very poorly, there was no air conditioning nor insect wire on the windows. Leaving the windows open at night created a welcomed cross breeze but also insects. In the afternoon the church was hot and the fans barely moved. The curtain in the bathroom was mouldy. There was no microwave. The breakfast supplies were milk, eggs and frozen bread. There were marks on the doona, and the place wasn’t very clean inside drawers and cupboards. The place which has some good features needs some real attention and maintenance starting with the windows and the fans.
- Ben (10/5): - Often accommodation is disappointing when you get there, but The Church at Yungaburra was even more beautiful than the photos!

- Ivy (10/5): A lovely and unique property. - Central location next to the yungaburra markets. Beautiful building and lovely decorated. Very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Free WiFi and Netflix, lots of books and magazines. Good kitchen for simple cooking.
- Simon (9/5): Very relaxing. - This property had everything we wanted except a BBQ. Noise from highway.
Access to a BBQ would have been great

- Barbara (7/5): This place has great potential. - The location and quirkiness were the favourable features of the accommodation. Unfortunately the place needs a refresh. The windows were very difficult to open, it needs repainting and a deep clean. The mould on surfaces and curtains in the bathroom was disturbing. An air conditioner would make a big difference as the fans are ineffective, especially in the main area where you sleep. It was stiflingly hot. There was no shampoo.
- BRIAN (8/5): -
- BRIAN (9/5): Beautiful - The accommodation was fantastic as being a couples retreat a vase for the flowers the man supplies would be good and a couple more towels ,loved the area need to promote more in your own area as locals some didn’t know of the experience and Thankyou for that
Kind regards Brian
- JO (8/5): Relaxing stay in a fantastic little town. - Such a beautiful little town to stay in. The Church was just lovely. It had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It was an easy walk down to the creek to watch the local platypus & we saw four in the two days we were there.
- Alice (9/5): Great place to locate ourselves to explore the Atherton Tablelands - We had breakfast provided for 1 day which we stretched for three with a little extra purchased by ourselves. Excellant
- Marty (9/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): -
- Dotti S (7/5): Great location - I really liked the fresh flowers that were placed in the kitchen and lounge areas. The kitchen, though small, had everything we needed. We appreciated the eggs for breakfast and the bottle of wine that was left for us. We made use of the fireplace which warmed the room and made it comfortable and cozy. The bed was really comfortable. The location was great, with a short walk to shops, restaurants and pub. We also walked along the creek and we were fortunate to see two tree kangaroos. I was uncomfortable with the amount of mould particularly in the bathroom around the bath and on the curtains. The moisture had also made the paint around the window peel. Just note, if staying at The Church, it's right next to the main road and there's a lot of traffic in the morning.
- Maddyn (8/5): Very good - Very cozy and relaxing.
- Thomas (5/5): Passable - location excellent internal doors need locks, fans not working properly, faulty toaster fused power. Windows hard to open, close
- Pamela (8/5): Very good -
- Vicki (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jacob (7/5): Good -
- Rebecca (9/5): Lovely accommodation, great location, roomy, just a little stuffy with no aircon during summer - Fine No aircon and we couldn't open the windows.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Yungaburra is worth visiting and The Church is a special piece of enjoyable heritage! - This is a really special little place - the volume of space and the natural light, the heritage character and its simplicity are just beautiful - really relaxing. The breakfast could have been a little better. The eggs, bread and butter were great. It just would have been nice to have some vegemite and/or jam to go with. Fresh fruit would have been amazing. The heat was a bit challenging but opening all the windows and keeping all the fans going made it ok. The traffic noise is intense. I think winter would be a better experience with the potbelly stove and being able to keep the windows closed to block out traffic noise.
- Janene (8/5): Great hosts and comfortable accommodation close to the town Centre. - Very unique and spacious. Overall quite comfortable. No air conditioning. Night time was quite pleasant but it did get a bit warm during the late afternoon. Would have been perfect in winter.
- Pamela (9/5): This is the second time we have stayed and loved every minute - We love this little cottage, perfect for a couple of days away. Quaint and with its own little garden and outdoor entertaining area very private and ideal to relax
- Dorrelle (10/5): Great place to stay for a relaxing weekend - Proximity to town centre, very clean and comfortable N/A
- Paul (9/5): A most relaxing place to stay, in a beautifully restored heritage building. - Personal touches, decorative features & books/magazines to browse through were appreciated.
Great location near shopping village & cafes. Beautiful garden, especially the gardenias @ this time of year. Thought a microwave was provided, as listed on the website.
Otherwise, everything else was great.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): Relaxing vibe! - Great central location. Loved the old charm decor! Clean & comfortable and made to feel at home. Nothing not to like!
- Rhonda (8/5): Very good - Great location in Yungaburra 1. Lack of materials to start the fire - newspaper, firelighters, kindling. It was cold, wet and getting dark when we arrived.
2. Booking.com sent the incorrect door code in multiple emails.
3. Shower over spa and slippery floor tiles in bathroom so water from shower went all over floor and my husband slipped and fell awkwardly.
- William (8/5): Accommodation was OK - no heating for cold mornings. - Accommodation was OK; just very cold in the mornings. No suitable heating for the morning. Wood stove at night was ok. Cooking facilities could improve; provide better heating options during the colder months. Having shower above a spa bath was challenging for an older person
- Andrew (7/5): Good - Great little place to stay.
spa bath was lovely.
Very spacious
Well equipped kitchen Only down side was bed needs turning over or replacing
- Terry (10/5): A lovely renovated church in Yungaburra. a comfortable village just outside Atherton - A wonderfully and tastefully decorated old church. Loved the whole ambience of the place.
And our hosts left us a welcome bottle of wine, and eggs and bread for breakfast.
Very Welcome.
Try the local pub for a meal -very good value.
- Irene (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (8/5): Lovely quaint accommodation in an excellent location - Located in a beautiful village close to all the Atherton region has to offer we found the Church to be a beautiful accommodation. Very comfortable - we particularly liked the fire on a cool evening enjoying our complimentary wine. The basic breakfast provisions were also much appreciated. The kitchen is very basic - fine for preparing eggs for breakfast but not much more. Some basics like good sharp knives and a chopping board would have been appreciated.
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Spacious and well equiped. There is a little bit of road noise but it's only noticable because the area is so quiet and it did not affect our enjoyment.
Kitchen well equiped with complementary milk, eggs, bread and wine. When you first entered the property there was a musty smell but you soon got used to it.
- Reg (10/5): I would recommend this property to all as a quiet get away. - Location was quite central to our needs. Access to the is very good no problem with parking. All good for us.
- Roslyn (8/5): Would definitely recommend The Church, it had a super cool and relaxing vibe. We would stay again.🌼 - Loved the quirkiness of The Church. Lots of space and lovely outdoors too. Spa bath was relaxing and lovely to have. Close to town so easy to go out for a coffee, a meal or browse the shops. New coffee cups needed and not a great kitchen to home cook in but that’s ok lots of places to eat in the village.
- Robert (6/5): Satisfactory - Breakfast left for us for Day 1 was good
Parking was good
Location was good
The old Church was quaint. Coffee cups need replacing. You wouldn’t use them
Showering in the bath was not ideal and it was hard to get out, particularly for older folks
- Donna (8/5): Perfect - Atmosphere Nothing
- Marita (7/5): Great - Clean, comfortable, great bed, 5 days raining could have done with a clothes dryer but otherwise great stay
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional - The church was perfect. The decor was spot on to create a tasteful nod to its past life. Will definitely be back
- Brett (9/5): Clean, spacious, private and comfortable. - Adored the church. Beautifully restored and obviously loved by the owners. I thought the road would be loud but it just wasn't an issue at all.
- Kathleen (9/5): Suggestion of maybe a small microwave in kitchen - Breakfast was lovely and we love the Tablelands
- Mick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracey (10/5): Absolutely wonderful stay… we will be back again - Location is perfect Nothing
- Maria (10/5): Comfortable and quaint. - We loved everything about The Church - it was absolutely beautiful. Very well maintained - the wine and breakfast items a nice bonus. The bed was comfortable with plenty of power outlets for chargers etc. Extremely clean throughout and kitchen was well appointed if you were to stay a while and wanted to cook meals as well. If I were to put photos up, they would basically be identical to what there is on the booking site. Thank you.
- Margaret (5/5): Overpriced for the ageing facilities - Complimentary bottle of wine Disappointing complimentary breakfast, 6 eggs, small loaf of bread, packaged butter and no milk. Loose door knobs and flaking paint on windows
- Maureen (7/5): It was an enjoyable stay - The location was good. The facility was very roomy. Nice to have 1st morning breakfast provided. No shampoo/conditioner or tissues.
- Bill (9/5): Very enjoyable with a bottle of wine and breakfast it made our stay more comfortable - Quirky and unique Fan switches needed replacing otherwise everything was very good.
- Robyn (10/5): This was such a retreat from our busy wedding, prep for our daughters wedding, but coming home every day to The Church wa - Tasteful, beautiful, relaxing and clean. Couldn’t stay for a longer visit, as the property was booked out.
- Frances (9/5): loved the town, the location. The "Church" was comfortable and homely, court yard great for a glass - the supplied breakfast lasted us for the 4 days we were there, and it was very well appreciated. The wine, enjoyed in the courtyard, a lovely touch, thank you. The bread knife could be sharper, made it hard to slice the bread. Nothing else
- Helen (10/5): We will certainly rebook. - Perfect location to walk into town and lovely place to return to after exploring the tablelands.
The fresh flowers in the cottage were a beautiful addition.
- Kita (10/5): Exceptional - A fabulous renovation of a 100 year-old church. Sympathetically done with lots of light and space. Very close to the centre of pretty Yungaburra. Recommended.
- Robyn (9/5): Superb -
- Judy (8/5): A lovely space in a very pretty little town. - The Church is in a lovely setting in a pretty town. We really appreciated the breakfast provisions for part of our stay. The space was very clean with plenty of room. Our host was very responsive to questions Wasn't prepared for the traffic noise during parts of the day and early morning.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (10/5): Nice large bed slept well, just lovely - Central to exploring tablelands Nothing
- Kent (8/5): Very good -
- Gen (10/5): Can’t wait to stay again - Gorgeous little church restored with loads of charm and luxury. Everything we needed for a relaxing, quiet getaway. Walking distance to little township. Great communication with host. Lovely little touches everywhere, inside and out. Loved it all
- Dick (8/5): A great experience - The central location was great, the bed was extremely comfortable, it was a lovely, different place to stay. the lack of a stove
- Valerie (9/5): Superb -
- Gaye (10/5): great spot for weekend away from home very relaxing ---Yunga burra has great restuarants and Pub - Hosts Rob and Mandi provided excellent service with a smile dealt with any issue we had and provided great advice on things to do in and around Yungaburra absolutely nothing
- Greg (7/5): The noise of the traffic was very loud, due to the fact that you were right next to the Gillies hwy. - There was a packet of bacon and 4 eggs in the fridge for your breakfast. The fact that the shower dripped through the night. That there was some sort of water pump that made loud noises.
- Linda (10/5): absolutely perfect, we will be back! - I loved absolutely everything about The Church, such a beautiful building and the decor and facilities were great. Really loved the fire place, as well as the fruit trees, we ended up with several great mandarins for snacks during the day. I honestly cannot think of anything to say here.
- Jane (7/5): A nice stay - Location was very good.
- Gemma (8/5): lovely peaceful spot to enjoy the tablelands. - lovely quiet property not quite as represented in the photos which might need to be updated.
- Alan (8/5): Three nights in a church. - Loved the interesting building and difference from hotels.Generous breakfast provisions and complimentary wine.Laundry facilities. Small kitchen with little bench space.Dim lighting in lounge- hard to read. Noisy main road at the side of the building.
- Rachel (7/5): A lovely little village a short walk away, generous food supply. - A generous amount of breakfast food was left for us plus a bottle of wine. We woke early as there was a lot of road noise.
- Rob (9/5): Enjoyable - Cereal satchel would be good Getting into large bath for a shower.
- Deb (6/5): Pleasant - Good location to town.
Netflix! ( It rained while we were there!!!) Had a problem making initial contact with owner re check in details. Never a good start...
And.....Very noisy! Believe that to be understated by owner. Early peak hour traffic on the gillies meant no sleeping in!
- Shelley (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (9/5): Vey comfortable close to everything -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (8/5): second visit & we will back again - awesome not much

Wonderful hosts and we just felt so at home here. Great place to recharge after a busy schedule. This place has everything you could need. Had a very slightly musty smell which improved once the fans were going
- Tabone (10/5): Shaun's and Nicole stay - Everything I'm really thinking hard here and it's quite petty but maybe a toilet roll holder! 🤣
- Jack19rob (9/5): A great place to experience Yungaburra. - We loved the decor and style of the church as well as the location. The kitchen could use a bit of an upgrade foe cooking if you wish to eat in.
- Dean (9/5): Superb -
- Janelle (9/5): Superb -
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- Simone (10/5): Exceptional - Loved our relaxing stay here. Had everything we needed and more. Very convenient location in the cutest town on the tablelands. Thank you!
There is no A/C but the many windows capture the breeze and it wasn't a problem for us.
- Lynsey (10/5): Just absolutely amazing certainly would recommend - The Quaintness and character of the property Nothing everything was perfect
- Michele (6/5): Pleasant - Always have wanted to stay in Church accommodation. Was good, authentic, character, comfortable and clean. No reverse air-conditioning

Bacon, eggs, bread, onion & spreads supplied but no cereal or fruit.
No internet connection
Having to step up & into a spa bath to shower with no hand rail to avoid slipping.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (10/5): Good memories - The Church is a great choice to stay in Yungaburra
Central location with a short stroll to the village
Spacious and very clean with all the facilities you need. nothing
- Teneille (8/5): Cute and kitschy private stay - Super comfy king size bed bed, spa bath and lovely gardens made it a very pleasant and aesthetic stay. Very kind inclusion of wine & breakfast. Great location, secure parking and a short walk to the centre of town 🌻 Lots of overdue maintenance that older properties need, IE windows and doors being damaged and/or dirty. TV was broken, the “kitchen” under stocked.
- Marie (8/5): Enjoyable and peaceful. - The location and look of the resident was beautiful gardens well kept with plenty of space to park and to have a stroll around. The breakfast was great can you advise if the food was sourced from local providers as this sort of collaboration works really well. There was no gas in the bottle for the bbq, we sent a message however it was not responded to until after we had left and there is nothing written anywhere advising there was a spare one. Should have been checked prior to new guests.
The bathroom was lovely however my husband has a spinal issue so getting in and out of the bath for showering was a chore.
- Suzanne (8/5): Very good -
- Lawrence (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and would return in cooler months. - The accomadation was very good, we enjoyed the layout and the provision of a kitchen and laundry. Traffic on Sunday night was full on but that was to be expected first weekend of school holidays, and it wasn't a problem Monday night.
Room was very hot when we arrived and as there were no screens we didn't want to open up windows till after dusk. Maybe an aircon would help or some form of fly screens.
- Dayna (10/5): Amazing location with the rooms atmospheric and well presented. We will definitely be coming back. - Amazing central location. The atmosphere of both the outside and inside the old church was fantastic, and very welcoming.
- Anonymous (8/5): very quite and comfortable. Very romantic old place . Just loved it - the look and feel of the property . just so beautiful. the location just stunning .
