Guest Reviews
- Bristol UK Traveller (9/5): Great location in Ieper - Great location in Ieper. It is a 15 minute walk from the train station. The room is spacious and bright. On arrival I was given detailed instructions about the childproof sockets and the WIFI setup. The private bathroom is down the hallway from the room which is fine as you have the whole floor to yourself. The shower room is clean and spacious and has everything you need. There is a lift to get to your room/floor which is great as the stairs like in most Belgian and Dutch buildings are very steep and narrow.
- MrTalltone (6/5): - Location was good, bike parking good and bed very comfortable. Bathroom and toilet isn’t really private, having to walk past the stairs and lift down the corridor to get there in the middle of the night isn’t for me. Not an on suite.
- Mark (10/5): Nice spot to visit Leper and the surrounding area from. - Excellent location in the centre of Ypres, convenient secure parking for or motorcycles a lift which is always helpful with the luggage.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
- Brendan (8/5): - The location was excellent a short walk from the centre of Ypres, a large comfortable room with private bathroom. The view of the cathedral across the street and with local restaurants close by and ideal place to stay.
Communication was very good from the time I made the booking.
Thank you Sophie for a very comfortable stay and I would highly recommend staying here.

- lia (7/5): Eenvoudige B&B in centrum van Ieper. - Locatie Er staat niet in de beschrijving dat de badkamer op de gang is, wel privé maar niet in de kamer.
- Andrea Artistico (9/5): Ottima esperienza! - Stanza ampia e confortevole, pulizia eccellente, posizione centralissima. Sophie, la proprietaria, è stata simpaticissima e puntuale.
- Alistair (9/5): Convenient location with parking, well situated to explore Ypres with very helpful host. Recommend. - Breakfast options limited on Sunday.

- Valerie (7/5): Rustige omgeving waar ik het naar me zin heb gehad. Die mevrouw is heel aardig - Schoon/rustig Toilet & bad ruimte apart van de kamer maar is wel heel schoon
- Janie and John (10/5): - De locatie Niks
- Roli (8/5): - Sehr nett und super zentral Das B&B war nur ein B ohne Breakfast
- Peeters (8/5): -
- David (9/5): - Great location. Sophia was a wonderful host. Nothing was too much trouble. Secure parking and spacious room.
- Dave (8/5): -
- Julie (10/5): - Located in centre of town.
Private parking garage.
Friendly informative host
- Beate (7/5): - Das Zimmer war mitten in der Stadt. Die ganze Stadt war somit fußläufig zu erkunden. Das Auto stand in der zugehörigen Garage.
- John (7/5): Pleasant, basic accommodation. - Excellent city location and parking included. Host very amiable. Breakfast not available. Noisy at times due to traffic and multiple building works. Basic and tired toweling and bedding.
- Glenn Upfold (10/5): -
- Dave (8/5): -
- Matthew (9/5): - Fantastic location with a super accommodating host. Lift to our own floor. Plenty to do, see and eat on the doorstep.
- Efe (3/5): - Perfect localisation and view. Second-hand junk from a flea market, stuffed items, pillows, duvets, mattresses, sheets – disgraceful. Bad and heavy smell. To use the toilet, you have to leave the room and cross the corridor. The door lock is a simple old-fashioned type, like the ones used inside houses. Nothing to do with what was shown in the photos. A place like this is worth no more than 20 euros.
- Cathy (6/5): Super gelegen accommodatie! - Super goede locatie Bedden waren niet heel goed. Jammer dat er geen ontbijt bij zat

- Wibo (6/5): Voldeed. Parkeren motor prima.
- Mert Can (9/5): -
- Ann (9/5): - The location is excellent. The girl who welcomed us was very friendly and helpful and the accommodation was perfect .
- Polina (9/5): -
- Jason (10/5): - Location ease of accsess secure garage.
- Janie (10/5): Exceptional - In the centre with private parking Nothing it al is perfect
- Colin (7/5): Good -
- Russell (9/5): A lovely stay in central Ieper - I really enjoyed my stay at East&West. I arrived early via motorcycle and Sophie let me park in the private parking area right in the entrance. It was a huge relief to know my bike was safe for the stay. My room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed for my stay. The views out of the window were lovely and the location is perfect for exploring by foot. I had the fact this was a B&B in my mind, but there was no second B (breakfast), which was a shame. That would have made the stay perfect.
Not the fault of the hotel, but there was some kind of street party just a few metres from the from of the hotel on the night I stayed. I was kept awake until 2.30am. Some kind of warning would have been appreciated so I could have been better prepared with earplugs.
- Baggs (10/5): Exceptional - The garage for the motorcycle
- Geoffrey (9/5): Superb - Parking Nothing
- Geraint (10/5): Exceptional - Central location and lift to floor
- Helen (9/5): Lovely place, really central and fantastic host - Location was great, really central and Sophia the host was very helpful A bIt tricky to find the premises as we were on a motorbike and the rally was on so a lot of roads were closed.
- Philip (9/5): Superb - Location and secure parking
- Sean (10/5): Beautiful place - Sophia was great, excellent value for money really cosy, in the centre opposite the Cathedral. Ypres is beautiful
- Stephanie (10/5): A room with a view (incl parking and an elevator!) - We have had a most perfect stay at B&B East&West. For us, it was a last minute decision to travel through Ypern on our road trip and we were glad we found this little gem. Thank you very much to our host for making this short-notice stay possible! The location was stunning and very convenient if you want to explore the city centre on foot. We very much appreciated the on-site parking because the public car parks in the area had a daily time limit. The building has a lift which was perfect to move our luggage to the top floor, and the view from our window was gorgeous. We felt we had great privacy and the bed was very comfy - we slept like babies. This was an all-around great experience and we would always come back and recommend this place. Book this place if you want to support a small business. Breakfast was not offered but we loved exploring the nearby cafes.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - Super cozy room. Comfortable bed. Excellent location. Not sure about the b part of the b and b as breakfast was never mentioned.
- David (8/5): Very good - Excellent location great car parking
- Malcolm (1/5): Not part of B&B group - Nothing It was in a garage in centre of town with no en-suite bathrooms. When booked I thought it was part of Europe’s B&B chain of hotels in which we have stayed before and are very good. But this is a single hotel run by a Chinese woman who is not at the hotel most of the time. We didn’t stay
- Kevin (9/5): Great location for seeing Ypres, would use again. - Nice room with a nice view of the town and convenient for everything. We struggled to find the property at first as we were looking for a bigger sign we could spot. Found it on third attempt.
- Robyn (7/5): Nice overnight stay, would recommend. - Excellent location & handy having a secure carpark. Very helpful and friendly host, and facilities very clean. Mattress was quite soft and the ensuite was down the hall but overall it was ok.
- Peter (6/5): dissapointing, nothing like the advert. - free parking poorly furnished, uncomfortable bed, dodgy lift.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location and a great host. Secure parking available. Nothing
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (8/5): Very central location was amazing views over Ypres Cathedral. - Very central location was amazing views over Ypres Cathedral. Very homely and comfortable with a friendly host who made every effort to ensure my comfort during my stay. Thank you! As a Brit, I made the mistake of (mis) understanding that the accommodation provided breakfast. There are plenty positive reviews of the breakfast provided - but that was before lock-down. Besides there are many cafes and bakeries just on the doorstep, close by to the Cathedral to pick up a decent breakfast.
- Alenka (10/5): Nice place, friendly owner. - We had the whole floor for ourselves. Great view of the square from the room's large window. /
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Sophia our host was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a lift…we were staying on the 3rd floor. We looked out our window and the cathedral was across the road, restaurants were downstairs, the market square was just around the corner..perfect
- Sylvia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, the location is smack in the middle of everything, Accommodation was great Sophia is a great host and was very helpful.
- Andy (7/5): Good -
- Tony (1/5): Bad - Not as shown in the booking .com pictures. No en suite. Lamps didn't work. I couldn't plug them in to the wall sockets. No sockets to charge phones, etc. Furniture outdated and damaged. Poor quality bedding. Great location with parking.
- Beverley (10/5): This BnB has everything. Super friendly Welcome and accommodating with a great location - The hospitality is faultless, super friendly, super accommodating you couldn't ask for more. The location is in the centre of town, you cannot ask for more.
I would Highly recommend this to all and everyone. Thank you for a fabulous stay as Always.
- Kevin (10/5): Perfect - The location was perfect
The Host Sophie was lovely very welcoming and answered all our questions, no issue with suggesting this as a place to stay
- Philip (10/5): Have stayed here many times and love it. - Location is super.. Right in the Centre. Service from Sophia was fabulous. There were big problems in the Channel Tunnel which delayed my crossing so it was dark and foggy.
Through Sophia's efficiency, she was able to accommodate me at very short notice.. Brilliant.. She is a star! Nothing.
- Ieuan (8/5): Great stay in Ypres, would look to book again. - The location was perfect, with amazing views from our room. We had a lovely welcome from Sophia, who gave us a welcome gift and made sure we had a map of Ypres and pointed out just enough on the map for us to get our bearings to go and explore prior to leaving us to it. We had a whole floor to ourselves it was more like living in an apartment for a few days rather than a hotel room. The bed was huge and so warm and comfortable, we accidently slept in one day, so we must have needed the sleep. There's also a garage underneath, which was perfect for us as we arrived by motorbike. Whilst advertised as a B&B, this is not your typical UK style B&B as there is no breakfast included, but there are plenty of places out front next to the hotel for breakfast. But even this didn't upset us as it gave us another opportunity to explore things.
- Kellie (10/5): Excellent host, would recommend this property - Fantastic central situation with great views of the city from your bedroom window Bathroom was separate, you had to walk down the corridor to it
- Michael (9/5): Excellent accommodation right in the heart of the city. - Location was in the heart of Ypres, right across the road from the St. Martin's Cathedral and a short walk to the museum and Menin Gate. Sophia was amazing and so very helpful. Would definitely stay here again next time we visit Ypres, and would highly recommend to others visiting the area and wishing to stay overnight.
- Karen (10/5): Perfectly placed. - Fabulous location. Easy onsite parking. Delightful host. It was all over too soon!
- John (8/5): Perfect location with a nice comfortable room from which to explore Ypres - Excellent location. Large, comfortable room. Elevator. A little difficult to find and get access as the dropbox code had been changed and the owner had forgotten to tell us.
- Philip (8/5): Very good - The parking is exceptional especially for a car lover. Location is superb and staff very friendly and accommodating. Couldn't get the TV to work.
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - Very central
Lovely host good communication regarding checking in and showed us around
Had a lift
Garage for the motorcycle
Comfy bed
Fan and shutters useful We knew before hand a corridor to use bathroom so not really a problem for two nights .
I would have really liked a mini fridge with some milk in it on arrival to make a cuppa with the kettle and tea and coffee provided- buts that’s all .
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Location. Secure parking for a motorcycle. Nothing.
- Catherine (8/5): Good value - Very central with a lovely outlook over cathedral and square. Large room, good wifi and great to have a lift.
Sophia is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The free parking is a real bonus. Although the bathroom is along a corridor on the same floor as the room, it is completely private and very spacious. The bedding and towels are very tired. They could do with an update, especially the sheets.
Coffee/tea facilities were very basic, no milk or sugar provided
A note on the wall sockets - it took us ages to work them out. You have to twist the socket as you put your plug in. We'd never come across ones like that before and only worked it out when we pulled out the bedside lamp to plug a phone in. They worked fine once we'd worked them out.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Pedro (10/5): Fabulous - Exceptional location Nothing
- Paul (6/5): Pleasant - The location was excellent, and to have private parking. The bathroom down the corridor, although private didnt feel it.
- Nadine (10/5): Exceptional - Location was fantastic, host was most helpful . Would highly recommend
- Colin (8/5): Ideal location, excellent value for money. with secure motorcycle parking - Garage parking for the motorcycles. Ideal location right in the centre of Ypres. Sophie was very friendly as well. Nothing to say here.
- Michael (8/5): Great for bicycle touring couples. - Perfect location for bicycle touring. Use the elevator and there is a clothes washer machine you can ask to use. The private bathroom is located at the end of your floor with stairs that are not save for children. Place is great for adults.
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful room, helpful host and great locarion.
Lovely view from our window. Lift to our room. Nothing
- Debs (8/5): Sophie was excellent. - Good location, clean room and bathroom facilities. Tea and coffee available in the room.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
On site parking was very useful too. N/A
- Marcia (7/5): Good -
- Lindi (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location and the services were great as well. I enjoyed that there was a bathrobe available and I enjoyed the view to the town square. Access to a market to find other necessities was helpful as well (1 min walking). Thankyou!
- Lawrence (8/5): A good central accommodation in Ypres. - We were able to access the property as soon as we arrived. It’s very centrally located and independent access is easy. It’s important to note that this property is more like an Airbnb in that it’s not part of a hotel or larger BnB. The bathroom (while adequate) was at the end of the hallway. The bed was very comfortable.
- Alan (10/5): Ecx - Location was very good Everything was good
- Tracey (10/5): Great location, very comfortable and Sophia super friendly and helpful. - Great location, Sophia was great really helpful. Bedding was really comfortable Only slight negative was the bathroom not being an ensuite
- Emily (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (10/5): Great , spotless clean , private indoor parking - Very close proximity to the sites Toilet across landing but no big issue
- Richard (9/5): Great host in a great location, right next to the market place. Excellent for all atractions - Excellent location. Lovely host. Large rooms with good facilities No breakfast available
- Mark (10/5): Great stay and we will be back - Very convenient and in the centre for the Armistice/Remembrance Day events. Car parking was also great ( and unexpected). Sophie ( the host ) was also perfect. Nothing-all was great
- Andy (10/5): A hidden gem. - Location in the centre of town close to amenities. Locked undercover parking for my motorcycle. Staff member was cheerful and very helpful. The view from the upstairs room was excellent. A little difficult to find the entrance.
- Christine (8/5): Great location for a few days in Ypres. - Fabulous location, secure parking for our motorcycles. Sophia really friendly and helpful.
- Carol (7/5): Good -
- Patrick (9/5): Huge, well furnished, comfortable apartment in great location. - Fantastic location, less than 5min walk to Cathedral or Flanders Museum. Parking is available, though not the easiest, as adjacent bar patio tables could be in the way depending on the time of arrival. I had arrived early and had been lucky enough to grab a free spot a couple of streets away to leave my car while visiting the museum. Having found the property (no signage, so you needed to be aware of the house number to find), I decided to leave my car where it was parked! The apartment is huge and has large windows with views overlooking the historic city centre. Warning: If you have small kids that climb, you will need to keep the window closed at all times. The only negative is that the bathroom is not ensuite, but at the other end of the landing (not ideal if required in the middle of the night), otherwise I could have scored it a 10.
- Howard (10/5): A great quirky gem in the centre of Ypres. - The perfect location for everything, which was literally on your doorstep.
Sophia gave us a lovely warm welcome on arrival, sharing the quirks of the amazing & unique building.
Spotlessly clean accommodation with everything you need for a very comfortable stay.
Sophia shared her recommendations regarding local restaurants & shops - all within easy walking distance.
Secure car parking available.
We're already planning our next trip. Can't think of anything at all.
- Jill (8/5): Very nice staff, room clean and tidy, everything you need, in a good location. - Very clean bedroom & bathroom. That the bathroom was along the corridor but it wouldn’t put us off renting here again . Also a little pricey with no breakfast. Should say no breakfast available in advert.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Superb - Location was excellent - close to everything but not too close. Clean, comfortable and the hostess was extremely welcoming and helpful with excellent communication.
- Graham (8/5): Very good -
- Rosemary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pam (7/5): Perfect location and great host. - Although it is called a B&B, there was no breakfast on site, so maybe withdraw the B&B on the title. Room was large roomy, but quite dated. Location was excellent and a very friendly helpful host. The place is a bit tired.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - Location', style, space, view There was nothing that I did not like. Maybe a small fridge.
- Jon (10/5): Lovely land lady very helpful the rooms are stunning - Stunning views, great location, safe garage for our scooters Nothing
