Guest Reviews
- Shannon (10/5): Super relaxing and restorative stay at Wilderness House - We loved everything about Wilderness House, we could tell how much thought had gone into every aspect of the experience. From the luxurious bed sheets, to the facilities provided (hairdryer!) and the beautiful service from our hosts. The location was amazing and the perfect balance of out in the bush but still so close to town. Nothing, we loved it all!
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - Steph was a wonderful host, the space was beautiful, cosy, and clean. Thank you for setting up a lovely breakfast each morning. N/A
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (9/5): Would highly recommend and will be returning at sometime in the future - Location, cleanliness, room size No spa bath
- Marella (10/5): Exceptional - The room and bathroom are spacious and comfortable, the location is perfect, in between the beaches and the main town. Gayle is a welcoming host and made for us a taste and rich breakfast!
- Alvan (9/5): Excellent food, service and the side fabulous - Breakfast was enough to keep you going to Lunch. Cereals, toast eggs, coffee and fruit juice.
Gayle could not do enough for you.
The site was excellent, with bush to walk in, gardens and animals.
Only two bedrooms (4) people made conversation important To me nothing.
- Paul (9/5): Excellent choice for a stay in the Margaret River area - Gayle is a kind, helpful but unobtrusive host. Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was simple but exactly what we like. We enjoyed staying in a bushland setting rather than in the town of Margaret River itself. Great to hear the local wildlife. MR was only a 10 minute drive away. Gayle gave great advice on what to see and do in the area. Happy with everything
- Jenna (10/5): Relaxing, beautiful escape in Margaret River. Highly recommend. - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wilderness House. We were lucky to be the only guests at the time of staying and it really is a beautiful property that looks out on a lovely garden. We were even fortunate to spot a kangaroo on our first day in the nearby bush!
Gayle was a lovely and very accommodating host who gave us great tips on what to see and do around the area and breakfast was really appreciated.
The bathrooms are spacious with a great shower.

- Grace (8/5): Second time here and it still impressed us lots, love it! - Liked that breakfast was being offered and was a good selection. Love the setup and nature surrounds. Love the rain shower and the bed was very comfortable. Would like to have a wider selection range for the dvds or possible access to a streaming tv service like Netflix or Stan.

- David (9/5): Superb -
- Kaempfer (10/5): Lovely stay! - The breakfast ticked all my personal culinary boxes - it was tasty and well taken care off.
The location is secluded and peaceful, though you need a car to get there.
The room and bathroom very spacious and beautifully decorated, simple, straight forward and tastefully. aligned. It feels like home.
Microwave and fridge in the kitchen corner of the lounge room, plus amenities available to enjoy a take away lunch.
Close to Surfers point beach to watch the sunset The light in the lounge room was or too bright or too dark (but again - this is personal taste) - it was a great space otherwise.
- Anonymous (9/5): We had a short stay (2 nights) and needed at last minute to find accomodation in Margaret Rover after a last minute deci - Great place nestled into a wilderness like area with peaceful surroundings. None
- Bohdi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (10/5): Excellent location, close to the beach & wineries! - Beautiful breakfast, very friendly host Gayle, lovely environment and atmosphere. all was fine.
- Pieter (9/5): This is a great spot for people looking to spend a lot of time exploring the Margaret River area. - The place is in a nice, quiet location and only a short drive to town. The rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms are decent as well. The bed is reasonably comfortable. One of the lights in the bathroom doesn't work, but there was still sufficient light. Having our own fridge in the room would have been nice, but there is a fridge available in the lounge area.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - beautiful surroundings, wonderful host and very comfortable accommodation
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Jack (9/5): Superb - Ut was in a lovely location, close to town, easy access to shopping centre. Great service and lovely people.
- Cheryl (10/5): Great stay and would visit again! - Wonderful stay in a bush setting just outside of Margaret river. 5 min to the beach. Easy driving to all the wineries and hiking trails. Was nice to have breakfast provided and there was a grill and frig and microwave and electric fryer for our evening cooking needs after a long day out and about. Great books on local info!
- Renay (9/5): A perfect getaway. - Great location.
- Bill (8/5): Completely served our purpose to have a relaxing week in a comfortable establishment. Hope to return - Loved the location in the middle of the bush. Watching a variety of birds. Close to lovely small bays with beaches and cafes. Close to Margaret River town. Accommodation was very comfortable.

- Mary (10/5): We loved the Wilderness House. We would stay there again. - The Wilderness House was in a beautiful bush setting. The bedroom was large with its own outdoor area overlooking the bush and garden. The shared dining area was large with good facilities. This area looked out onto the garden and bush. Breakfast was delicious with fresh ingredients. The owner was very welcoming. She provided us with lots of information on what to see and do. Nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Fantastic stay and a lovely host ! - Breakfast was perfect , muesli , stewed fruits, fruit toast, yoghurt or poached eggs on sourdough .
Filtered coffee or tea and juice . A longer stay !

- Joao (9/5): Superb - Our host Gayle made us feel very welcome and comfortable from the beginning, with great communication even before we arrived. Beautiful house and charming decoration, huge bedroom and bathroom with everything you need to spend a few days. Location is great, few minutes drive to Margaret River, and even closer to the beach. The place is in the middle of a beautiful bush, very quite and peaceful. Gayle would prepare us fresh breakfast every morning with local produce. Great for a couple's getaway weekend. Would definitely come back!
- Dylan (9/5): Superb -
- Leisa (10/5): Wonderful 5 days away to recharge. - Wilderness House is in a perfect location, not far from Margaret River township, set amongst beautiful Australian bush. With wrens busy in the garden, the bunny's and parrots create a peaceful setting. Gayles' breakfast is devine and certainly substantial. Gayle knowledge of the area certainly makes navigating the many things to do in the area easy. Nothing, everything was perfect
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Gayle was delightful and gave us lots of great tips on her local area, and went out of her way to keep us happy. Thanks so much Gayle, we will definitely recommend your beautiful location to all our friends 4 🌟
- Anonymous (9/5): Comfortable, clean lodging with a friendly host in a great location. - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wilderness House. Bedroom and bathroom were well appointed, spacious, clean and comfortable. Location was excellent — 8 min drive from MR town and 5 min drive from the sea. Internet connection was strong and reliable. Gayle is a lovely host who provided good tips and a nice breakfast each morning (toast, eggs and muesli). For international travelers, note that payment is only by cash or transfer from an Aussie bank. There are a few ATMs in MR town so it wasn’t a major issue, just FYI for future travelers!
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Alba (8/5): quiet , roomy place close to everything - helpful hostess, peaceful setting , handy to wineries and beaches
comfortable beds ,large bathrooms , bindis , just beyond path near house , garden beautiful though
little more room in kitchen would be good and perhaps a cook top ,would have been useful we used alfoil on bbq to cook fish , and a small drawer dishwasher would be handy , not much room to wash up ,though offers were there from hostess to clean up and do dishes , we preferred to clean up as we went .
- Jeanette (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): Host Gayle went out of her way to make us welcome and comfortable. - Peacefull surroundings close to amenities NA
- Briana (8/5): wonderful getaway into nature, but still close to town. - being so immersed into the natural environment around the location.

- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Katherine (8/5): A lovely base for our stay, met most of our expectations - Very peaceful location, good travel information and excellent breakfast provided by the owner Washing can only be done on request by the owner; heating would not be very adequate for winter visits; wine (as seen in photos) is not included, some of the outdoor chairs are rather worn out
- Jordan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (9/5): Superb -
- A (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (9/5): Gayle offers us some really good suggestions for places to visit which were great - It’s location. the size of the rooms. The hospitality. Nothing.

Gail the owner was accommodating and was not in our space which was wonderful.
- Crock (8/5): Very good -
- Alpha (10/5): Wilderness House Accommodation Review - Beautiful accommodation, modern and very comfortable. The host was lovely. Breakfast was simple but beautiful. Thank you Steph and Gayle for your hospitality. If I did have something to complain about, would be location. About 10-15 min drive from town centre. But really not an issue.
