Guest Reviews
- Kim (9/5): Superb accommodation in a beautiful winery location. - The wine tasting started our superb stay, with great wines, platters and hospitality. Our accommodation was great and well stocked for breakfasts and we loved the additional cheese platter and complimentary bottle of wine. Easy use of the BBQ and pool and plenty of room for 7 adults to enjoy a 2 night stay. The only downside was both the ensuite and bathroom also housed the 2 toilets, so it was a little problematic for the 7 adults staying together. We managed well as we had a relaxed itinerary, but we did need to wait for either the toilet or use of the showers.
- Wendy (10/5): - Amazing breakfast & drinks provisions. Lots of thought into making comfortable stay
- Geoffrey (10/5): Great house for a large group in a great location - The house was great for a large group. It was in a great location handy to wineries and the rail trail. We had dinner at the winery and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend it. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Lachlan (10/5): -
- Guest (10/5): -
- Joanna (6/5): Lovely, peaceful location. - Lovely, peaceful location surrounded by beautiful trees and bird song.
Easy walk to cellar door.
Excellent breakfast provisions. Couldn’t find the wifi network to connect to.
The cleaning was a bit superficial- kids dropped toys and had to be retrieved from under bed and it was filthy under furniture.
- Lauren (8/5): -
- Alan (8/5): Great spot to stay in Clare valley - Quiet, great location, wonderful breakfast choice Access along very rutted dirt road, very squeaky floorboards
- Ashleigh (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Absolutely recommended. A real delight. - The location and situation were perfect for visiting Clare Valley. Not far off the main spine road and in a quiet place up on the valley side. The views from the cottage and verandah were a delight. Parking was right by the cottage. Inside it’s spacious, comfortable, with a table to eat or work at, kitchen necessities and really generous provisioning of the fridge with breakfast, drinks and ‘snacks’. I had a delicious and very generous ‘mostly cooked meal’ ordered ahead - highly recommended. Bed was comfortable. Everywhere was clean and eco - the rainwater supply works a treat. It took me a while to trust that I had set the aircon to work!
- Dawn (10/5): Lovely staff, very helpful - Beautiful property with everything you could need for a comfortable stay
- Lynne (9/5): Very enjoyable, relaxing. - Tranquility, cleanliness. All the provisions for breakfast etc.
- Janet (10/5): Lovely location, excellent staff and a highly recommended experience, perfect to celebrate a special occasion. - Lovely relaxing location, very private and surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and natural bushland. The Almost Ready dinner option was brilliant after a long drive when we arrived, highly recommend! The staff were fabulous and the wine tasting experience and dinner were the highlight. Jackie was knowledgeable and provided a relaxed and excellent experience.
- Vivian (10/5): Exceptional everybody should come and stay! - The inclusions, the spaciousness, so beautifully appointed, the pool - the fridge and pantry items all locally sourced. Absolutely nothing to dislike
- Susan (10/5): Perfect location… the Barrel Restaurant is absolutely amazing!!! -
- Robert (10/5): We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Willow Glen, Skillogallee - Great position.
Well appointed.
Plenty of space for 7 adults.
Lovely pool& outside area. Nothing
- Anne (10/5): Fabulous accomodation with exceptional provisions supplied. - Fabulous facilities...pool, location. Exceptional supply of breakfast, wine & drinks. Nothing
- Sue (10/5): A great all year round getaway spot - Quiet location with lovely views. Very
comfortable and extremely clean house. Hotel quality sheets and towels and fridge full of food. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of wood for fire plus reverse cycle aircon in every room.
- Emma (10/5): -
- Elina (10/5): Cozy cottage with beautiful views - Really beautiful and spacious cottage with nice view from hill down to the vineyards and forest. Very well equipped breakfast and snack supplies. It was also great to just walk down the hill to Skillogalee cellar door for a very good lunch and wine tasting. The Owal cottage does not have dishwasher even it was so stated on the Booking.com.
Beds are only narrow queen size beds.
- Tim (9/5): A great place to base yourself in the Clare Valley. - The cottage was incredibly clean and had everything you need, its a short walk to the cellar door, sits high on a hill with distant views through the bush. The welcome bottle of wine and cheese platter were lovely and the breakfast provisions were amazing. The complimentary glass of wine and nibbles for in-house guests at the cellar door was also an added bonus. The staff at the cellar door were lovely and welcomed our dog and made a spot for us to sit and enjoy the experience. A great stay.
- Chrissie (9/5): -
- Rafe (10/5): - Loved everything.
- Karen (10/5): A wonderful little getaway - The location was stunning! Owl cottage in particular has Amazing views! Cottage was clean and provisions exceptional! Decorated very tastefully. Beds very comfortable too! Staff were very attentive and communication was very helpful. Air conditioners in all the bedrooms and living room were great and much appreciated with the very hot days we were there. Thr cottage overall did struggle a little with keeping cool due to the extreme heat. It was extremely hot when we stayed. Because there was no split air conditioner in the dining area/kitchen it did warm up in particular in those rooms.
Maybe supply an extra draft "snake" for the main door in the cottage under the carport. There is quite a large gap under that door and at night all sorts of creepy crawlies were coming in. (cockroaches and spiders- maybe escaping the heat too? 🤭)
- Travis (10/5): - Amazing accomodation, beautiful inside and out. Will definitely stay here again in the future.
- maria (10/5): - Amazing stay
- Duncan Murcott (10/5): - Clean place. Excellent amenities. Lots of stuff for cooking. Great place for a few days… or a week.
- Rae (10/5): Our favourite place in the Valley ! - We stayed at the Skillogalee cottages for a 60th birthday, including a lunch at the Barrel House. Everything was perfect. The Owl Cottage has a beautiful view to watch the sunset. The cottage has everything you need. We had 6 adults staying in the 3-bedroom cottage and had plenty of room, with indoor and outdoor space. The breakfast provisions are insane !!! Complimentary wine and muscat was a lovely addition. Thank you to all the staff at Skillogalee for making this celebration so special. Thank you to David for being so helpful and accommodating. The flies ---- but this is Australia :)
- Benjamin (10/5): - A magnificent property, meticulously maintained grounds, and premium produce. All for a very non premium price. Will definitely be planning a return visit. There was not a single negative to be found.
- Martin (10/5): A clean well presented and homely retreat in a beautiful setting and with friendly service whenever required. - We liked the comfortable spacious living area and outdoor setting with the view across vines and valley. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Location close to a range of sites and activities suited us well. A couple more oven proof dishes for preparing our Skillogalee chef prepared meal order would have been helpful.
We did find the auto switch on of the air conditioner in the morning uncomfortably warm.
- Joan (10/5): Amazing stay in the wine region - Loved everything about our stay. Loved the ample goodies for us to use in the cabin this was amazing. We did the wine tasting as well and included in our stay was a glass of wine and nibbles at 3pm each day. We travelled along way and we were not disappointed would stay again and recommend to family and friends Nothing
- Kerstin (9/5): - Very generous food and beverages supplied. The towels could be more luxurious.
- Ashlee (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): A great place for a group up to 8 people. - A terrific house with all the facilities you could need to have a great time. Very well located to access wineries in the Clare area. Nothing
- Tara (10/5): Loved the experience and the customer service. - It is a fantastic location and very comfortable.
- Kaye (10/5): Our stay was just magical; will certainly return - Beautiful location; perfect facilities Not applicable
- Trudy (10/5): - All the unexpected extras such as a fridge full of food for breakfast, complimentary wine and port and a well stocked fire place we're a wonderful surprise. Very nice!
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Christy (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable weekend get away. - Setting and home/like comfort
- LYNDA (10/5): - Very generous range of breakfast options to choose from. Local produce and wine. Great location, with great views, and wildlife. The serenity!
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Wen Fei (9/5): - Great location. Right next to skillogalee winery and restaurant. Cute little cottage. Great for a weekend stay.
- Rebecca (8/5): -
- Pellegrino Rino (10/5): -
- Bernd (10/5): - We loved it. Awesome accommodation, great location. It was perfect
- Hans (10/5): A perfect location in the Clare Valley - Owl cottage is a delightful place to stay and enjoy the Clare Valley. The location near the Skillogalee winery is perfect for enjoying everything the winery has to offer. The cottage is well appointed and the complimentary breakfast items really hit the spot. The friendliness of the staff cannot go without being mentioned.
- Van Kleef (10/5): Fabulous, would highly recommend - The location was beautiful.
The amenities were excellent.
Loved everything about the property. N/A
- Rachel (8/5): - Great experience. Just needed salad bowls. Cleaning stuff in kitchen. Ie liners Ajax scourers etc. Knife block would be gd. Fire tongs. Two tvs would be great As above
- Leanne (10/5): Excellently located, the clean, modern house had everything to make our girls weekend away special. - The house was clean and modern, the beds were comfortable, the amenities in the house were great and we loved the food and wine provisions, very thoughtful. The communication from David was friendly and responsive. Nothing to fault! Everything excellent. the only thing which would be amazing would be a heated pool, but we came in winter so even then we couldn’t swim I’m sure.
- Peter (10/5): Overall a beautiful place to stay - Beautiful setting Was lovely clean but dated
- Graeme99 (10/5): An secret getaway that is secluded but only minutes away from whatever you need….. Make sure you go… - We didn’t realise that food and drinks were included, until the lovely Patricia called us on the day to let us know that everything is included.
We had the tastiest local Bacon and honey sausage with fresh eggs, milk, espresso coffee pods, orange juice for Breakfast each day, as well as half a dozen cans of soft drinks and a few cans of beers as well. We even had a lovely welcome cheese platter with a bottle of their award winning resiling – All complimentary.
We were amazed and so grateful. Nothing !!!!! - The location was perfect – Only a few minutes drive from the winery and their stunning restaurant which we visited, as daily they offer a free glass each of wine and nibbles. The cottage that we stayed in (Wren Cottage) was a fantastic 2 BD place, secluded away, surrounded by bush which we saw wallabies bouncing past regularly as well as the morning call of the Kookaburras. We were situated only 1.5kms from Sawmill Gin Distillery, which itself is worthy of an excellent review. We spent a few hours chilled out relaxing, eating and trying their Gins.
- Lyn (10/5): Great location with amazing views and great hospitality - Location and hospitality were faultless
- Jane (10/5): Absolutely superb home with beautiful views and amazing supplies. - Everything! We felt very spoilt from the minute we arrived. A glass of wine & nibbles were complimentary at the cellar door which was a lovely start. The Willow Glen house was superb and the supplies were incredible. 2 bottles of wine, a cheese plate, cereal, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, sausages, tomato, home made cookies!!
The house is beautiful and very large with everything you could possibly want. If I could give it 11 out of 10 I would. We’ll definitely be back. Nothing it was perfect!
- Anne (10/5): Lovely winery cottage. - Great location at the winery with a good kitchen and good breakfast provisions as well as some of their wine which we enjoyed in front of the fire. Would stay there again.
- Fiona (9/5): - Lovely house in Clare . Fantastic set up that suited our group. Great vase location for visiting Clare. Would stay again.
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Janina (10/5): -
- Tracy (9/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): Everything you could ask for when wanting a short stay in the Clare region - Wren Cottage was conveniently located and situated in a lovely somewhat secluded bush setting. We were extremely impressed with the amount and quality of breakfast items left for us and the ability to cook prepared meals from Skillogalee’s kitchen was a bonus, although we didn’t utilise this on this occasion. The cellar door was a short walk and the staff were very welcoming and informative. There was nothing negative about this property
- Erica (9/5): Peaceful cosy place to wind down. - Stunning location, very quiet and private. Very generous provisions for breakfast or brunch, and heaps of dry wood for the lovely fire. A neat pile of kindling is already set up for you in the combustion fire, ready to light. The fire and the views were the main reason we booked!
Matilda came over immediately to help us with the coffee machine, very friendly and helpful as was all the communication with Skillogalee. A short drive to services and townships.
It was toasty warm with the combination of split system and the fire, especially nice during the cold wind and rainy days.
The whole place is remarkably clean and well presented, and everything you can imagine is supplied in the kitchen. We had a lovely time! To be honest we didn't overly like the couch (low back), & wished the fire was in the lounge, but we pulled the 2 soft chairs in front of the fire and got comfy so we were happy with that.
The bed was ok but just a bit firmer than we are used to; very nice bedlinen though and extra blankets were available. We brought our own pillows.
- Amanda (10/5): Cosy family get away on a cold, wet and windy weekend. - Big house with plenty of room. Lots of breakfast provisions supplied. Close to the Skillogalee winery. Loved the in room almost ready meals we ordered. Most of the preparation was done we just had to cook the meat and heat up the veg. We also preordered some wine to be in the room. Use of the fire (combustion heater) was a must as weather was very cold, wet and windy. Must come back in the summer to try out the pool and sit outside. Minor thing, large fry pan and the baking trays were greasy. Had to clean before using.
- Jo (9/5): Homely cottage in a superb bushland location. - Great location, near a beautiful vineyard and in lovely bushland. Even had some kangaroos grazing nearby. Nice bathroom and kitchen facilities. Very clean. Lovely warm house with a wood burner and plenty of supplied firewood. Very generous breakfast supplies and a bottle of Skillogalee wine was a nice touch. Nothing really. Lounge furniture wasn't the most comfortable but we didn't spend much time in there, so was fine.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerri (10/5): Exceptional experience we will be back. - Loved all the amazing extra touches .
From the welcome note to the extravagant provisions and the little touches including a basket of kindling and a basket of timber for the fire.
We even had a visitor an echidna which made our first night at Owl cottage. Lunch was outstanding. Nothing
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic little cottage with more than expected breakfast provisions which was just perfect.
Afternoon glass of wine at the cellar door just added to the whole experience
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional - Wren cottage was very well stocked and clean. The cottage was in a great location, we loved the fire on a wild wet and windy night. Love to return and stay again. Lunch at the winery was exceptional.
- Nicolaas (10/5): beautiful stay in a beautiful region, go and visit information centre next to caravan park. - excellent breakfast supplies well beyond what you would expect. wood fire all set up to start plenty of wood. little cheese plate on arrival, bottle of their beautiful Riesling , beer and soft drinks, and to top it off 3 o'clock complimentary glass of wine and snack in their new restaurant. this was our second time we stayed here due to popular demand. no complaints
- Jeremy (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Was a lovely relaxing two day stay - Had wood fire, heating was on for when we arrived, loved that could order ‘ready’ meals which were delicious, great breakfast provisions, very comfortable.
- Marie (10/5): I highly recommend Skillogalee and will definitely be back for a longer stay. - The location is perfect, beautiful scenery, quiet location. The house and decor are stunning and the facilities are exceptional. Comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, well equipped kitchen. The breakfast provisions were generous and delicious.
The hosts have thought of everything and even checked to see that we had all that we needed.
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Great location, clean and friendly
- Janki (9/5): A perfect weekend getaway in beautiful Clare! - Beautifully kept cottage, very clean and had all amenities. Location is fantastic, woke up to serene views! Nothing
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (9/5): Superb - The house was very cosy with a pot belly stove.
Everything you could possibly want was supplied!!!!
Beautiful breakfast supplies, fantastic cheese platter and wine on arrival, and a wonderfully decked out kitchen.
This accommodation was excellent and amazing value for money. Noisy floor boards!
- Deborah (7/5): Good -
- Helen (10/5): Our stay in Willow Glen house was exceptional. - The unexpected. Did not know what we were in for but this exceeded our expectations in terms of location, comfort, services provided, staff, food for brekkie supplied, the order in dinner option and overall experience. Nothing.
- Virginia (10/5): Delightful Location - The location is absolutely delightful. Wren Cottage was nestled in the bush. It was wonderful to wake up to and be surrounded by nature. There were plenty of provisions - more than we could eat! The staff were very kind and attentive and nothing was too much. Squeaky floor boards throughout the interior of the building, which lifted up as you walked on them. The floor boards need to be nailed down. Also, there was no wardrobe or hangers to hang up our clothes. However, there were some coat hooks and coat hangers were supplied on request. We also would have liked some instant coffee. The fancy coffee maker did not make a good cup of coffee.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Lovely cottage in bush setting
- Wendy (9/5): Comfortable Clare - We loved the accommodation being located on the Estate. Wren Cottage was perfect for our group of three. Loved the value adds provided i.e. breakfast provisions and afternoon drinks at the cellar door. Extremely generous. Staff at the cellar door were exceptional! That we had to drive to go anywhere else such as the local pub. The floor boards in the Cottage were squeeky, which was very noticeable during the quiet nights.
- Alexndra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachael (10/5): Beautiful stay, will return! - Beautiful location with amazing views. House was spotless and extremely comfortable. Lovely to be able to walk to the cellar door. Would highly recommend this property. Nothing!
- Robyn (9/5): Enjoyable - Very comfortable. Great food condiments.
- Hannah (8/5): Amazing food supplied, beautiful views, everything we needed for a short stay as a young family. - Its location, supplies, and seclusion! The bedrooms were perfect for us, and the bathroom was huge. There was some mould in the shower.
- Bryce (10/5): Great location, great accomodation and even better hosts, would return again and again! - The place caters above and beyond for its visitors, can’t fault the place! Nothing
- Yvonne (10/5): COUNTRY CHARM. - The peaceful location.Attention to detail. Excellent breakfast supplies. Service manager David very engaging.
- Lynette (8/5): Very good - The peacefulness of the location
Exploring all the lovely vineyards a d towns in the Clare - the history was so interesting
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Accommodation was first class.
Provisions were a great surprise.
Ready to heat meal was excellent Nothing
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Perfect escape close to Clare Valley Riesling Trail - All breakfast items were provided and the fridge was laden with delicious food - artisan products of bacon, sausages, bread as well as eggs, tomatoes. Lovely Cheese platter with complimentary bottles of wine. David, the guest services manager, went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. He was immediately responsive to any queries or requests from us. Owl cottage has lovely views across the valley & vineyards. The property was well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Complimentary wine tasting at the office winery was a delightful bonus. Sadly the restaurant and cellar door were under renovation during our stay but we hope to be back one day to enjoy what they have to offer.
- Tanya (10/5): Wonderful accomodation for friends to feel very comfortable and relaxed - Beautifully appointed with several places to sit eat and relax both indoors and out.
The pool was a fantastic especially given the weather. The biggest surprise was how well stocked the fridge was with food and drinks and the complimentary wine was delicious. Nothing
- Joan (10/5): Vineyard Bliss with amazing food and very cute comfortable accommodation - The location. The aspect. The food and wine. Nothing
- Stephanie (10/5): Stunning location - Views were amazing. Peaceful.
Comfortable beds Nothing
- Sophie (9/5): Great value stay with amazing breakfast! - Really great location for exploring Clare Valley. The breakfast basket was exceptional and the fridge was stocked with excellent local produce all of which was delicious! Delicious bacon, eggs, sausages, apple juice, bread, yoghurts and cereal ! We were blown away! Beds were very comfy and all in all a great experience. We will be back in winter once the new restaurant has opened!
- Kay (7/5): Good - It was comfortable. The complimentary goods were great. We had a good time. Shame the cellar door and restaurant were being updated. The rotation of the air conditioner in the lounge room didn't circulate to cool the room down. Some pegs to hang out your washing would of been helpful. We bought some locally.
- Tegan (10/5): Exceptional - Super cute cottage, looked very well maintained and clean. It was a very hot day when we got there but they had closed the curtains and turned on the AC so it was nice and cool for us.
The provided breakfast foods, drinks and cheeseboard were very generous.
Not really an issue for us as we had ebikes, more just a heads up for anyone else, but it is a bit steep to come / go from the cottage by bike if you're doing the riesling trail. But it was quite easy to join up to it once you'd gotten past the driveway and onto the road.
- Dean (9/5): Superb - Great views from the terrace and location just outside Clare, unbelievable provisions provided.
- Lisa (8/5): Would definitely stay here again but not with the dogs😊 - Location, views, breakfast, charcuterie board and wine were excellent. Beds, pillows etc were very comfortable. Pet friendly We arrived on an extremely hot day and the aircon really battled with that heat to cool the house down. No fenced section made it impossible to let the dogs outside unsupervised.
- Louise (10/5): A beautiful and relaxing stay in a gorgeous bush setting... a perfect getaway! - The provisions provided were excellent (breakfast, cheese board, complimentary wine etc). They were a lovely surprise and were more than enough for the entire stay. We loved the outdoor balcony and enjoyed both mornings and evenings relaxing so close to nature. We were treated to many kangaroo sightings which was a bonus. Nothing
