Guest Reviews
- Sylvia (10/5): A friendly BnB in a lovely area - The couple who run the BnB are lovely and friendly. The BnB is cosy and has extra details thought of.
It’s a short distance from nice cafes and restaurants.
- Renee (10/5): -
- Chelsea (10/5): -
- Po (5/5): -
- Alanna (9/5): Great accommodation in a perfect spot. - The friendly greeting by the owner and his explaining everything. The unit we had was very spacious and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Perfect location and very quiet at night. Would return without a doubt.
- Jamie (7/5): Was GEEEEWDDD - Comfy bed I didn’t know I booked a bed and breakfast lol, not what I expected.
- Rosemary (10/5): -
- Loren (10/5): Cute & spacious cottage close to everything but feels far away. - Gorgeous country-style cottage with private bathroom and seperate lounge room and bedroom. Includes microwave and pod-style coffee machine. Combine bath/shower, lots of towels and access to the pool. Cottage is attached to the family home, but there is plenty of privacy from the hosts. Off-street, carport parking provided.
- Peter (10/5): Calm and peaceful. - Spent a number of very peaceful and relaxing days here. The hosts are very nice, there if you need otherwise they leave you alone. Nicely dark at night. Comfy bed. Plenty to do in the area. Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Brilliant stay, far exceeded my expectations, clean/well appointed/accomodating host! Thanks a lot! - Fantastic stay, accommodating and friendly owner. Would highly recommend for a solo or twin traveller
- David (9/5): - Beautiful view and rural outlook It was raining
- Melissa (9/5): - Very pet friendly and felt comfortable to eat in our own space. The pool was lovely. It was a rejuvenating break due to the peaceful place with trees and birds. The owners were lovely, very accommodating and friendly. Fly screens in the bedroom and near the dining table would be a great addition.
- Chris (10/5): Very kind hosts with terrific rooms - Excellent value for money. Fee included room with double bed a fridge with milk, kettle, a coffee machine and a sitting room with a TV. Considering that I was just expecting a bed I was very impressed. Shower worked really well with the temperature of the water being very quick and easy to change.
- Vanessa (10/5): Absolutely worth the stay, Chris and Deb were lovely and accommodating. - A beautiful little place in a lovely location
- Leanne (6/5): Winston Cottage is a quaint, comfortable stay in a beautiful part of the Sunshine Coast. - Beautiful scenery and very peaceful and quiet. Chris was very friendly and professional. There was a coffee machine and fridge in the room with aircon and a separate area with a couch and tv (I didn’t use as I was busy). There were no curtains in the toilet or bathroom. The property was rural but I’m more comfortable if I can close curtains for privacy, especially in ‘vulnerable’ rooms. The milk and water in the fridge had frozen but I didn’t need them anyway and I forgot to mention it before I left (the fridge probably just needed the temperature adjusted). It would have been nice if there was a designated hook to put the towel on in the bathroom?
- claude (6/5): - Clean room
- Gabriel Parker (8/5): -
- Angela (6/5): - Would have appreciated better security as a single woman. VERY clean and comfortable. Bathroom windows needed blinds for better privacy, especially in shower. Price point was good, but needed to feel more secure and private.
- Adam (9/5): -
- Kim (10/5): Well worth it and will stay again if I’m ever past this way and need somewhere to stay - The owners were very accommodating considering I arrived at 1am. It was so gorgeous I felt really bad I was there for such a short time because it is somewhere that is worth staying a few days. Owners were really discreet and have put a lot of effort into making the space beautiful. It’s very very dark late at night and I want quite sure were to put the rental car!
- Ian (7/5): Clean pleasant accommodation, Very rural location. - Did not have breakfast as had to leave early. Bit out of the way for where we had to visit. Did not dislike anything
- Rachel (2/5): - No boby there
- Glen (1/5): - My room was a dungeon dark cold and very miserable They had dogs and they were dogs smell right around the room on the lounge in the bedroom it white disgusting I had to share a bathroom with the owners and the dog I would not very happy I would not recommend this place to no anyone
- Kim (9/5): Highly recommend people to stay there - Location, quiet, green, Jack the horse, friendly chooks & dog
Host was kind, friendly & helpful
Very enjoyable, lovely & easy access to nearby places We would love to have use of kettle, at least 2 of each cups, glasses, bowls, plates
, knives,
- Janet (9/5): Attached 1 bedroom apartment in rural Palwoods - The location was ideal for our overnight stay as we were collecting our new caravan early in the morning. The bed was very comfortable and we had a delicious breakfast (paid extra) prepared by Chris. Easy drive to Palmwoods for dinner.
- Sheila (4/5): -
- Casey (10/5): -
- Brian (8/5): Ideal for overnight stay. -
- Joanne (1/5): Smelt of Dog & Doesn't Lock ! - Nothing This review is not by Jo - it's by her partner Fabio.
Upon arrival, was told the doors don't lock ..... no need as "they have been there for over 20 years and never been robbed" and that "only paranoid people make a big deal about it".
The conversation then finished with the owner walking through an un-lockable (from our side) internal door. I was then able to hear either the owner, or his partner, coughing / sneezing and watching the television on their side of the house - so this is definitely not a 'cottage'.
But the real kicker is, while it's 'pet freindly' I can really do without the wet dog smell that permeated the entire room (we had no animal & would expect animals to be outside). Needless to say, I booked somewhere else and left within 15 minutes of arrival.
To say this place was disappointing would be a gross under-statement. I can't comment on the owner, maybe this is standard procedure by his standards, but I certainly expect better from Booking.com - the sites you list, the rating you provide and the accommodation you recommend reflects directly on you .... in this case, very poorly.
- john (8/5): -
- Jeff (10/5): - Great place to stay. Was upgraded to 2 bedroom unit for no charge. Clean, quiet, friendly with great coffee in a lovely rural setting. Would stay again
- Craig (8/5): -
- Tina (3/5): - Friendly greeting, lovely location. Unfortunately the room had a very bad adore. I slept with the window open yet the smell was so bad it woke me up several times.
- Matt (8/5): I’ll be back. - The bed was super comfy
- Deborah (10/5): - Chris the owner was wonderful.. supportive
I’d stay again
- Catherine (10/5): Restful stay - The host was friendly, sharing important information about the cottage and surrounding area. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. I felt very safe.
Thank you so much I had a wonderful stay. The location was close to everything and quiet. I liked everything about the place.
- Zoe (5/5): - The bed was comfy, the room was spacious. The dog smell, the bathroom and toilet door didn't lock.
- Pa,mela (10/5): Very comfortable and relaxing. - The accommodation was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The area was very peaceful and scenic.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and cosy. Very convenient to whereI needed to be There was nothing I did not like
- Ruaridh (8/5): Very good -
- Mitchell (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly staff and comfortable bed!
Would definitely stay again! The only downfall was finding the location at night, because of the small road its on and how dark it is along there.
A light up sign and some lighting where cars are parked would be exceptional!
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely, comfortable room just outside of town. - Location not too far away from services, but was a little bit away from standard accommodation locations. Bed was great, too! Nothing. My stay was simple and short and it was perfect for that.
- Navaka (8/5): Very good - Great hosts, conveniently located
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (7/5): Good - close to shops to go get dinner
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Drh (8/5): Very good -
- Tamzin (8/5): Very good -
- Jeremy (8/5): We enjoyed out stay in Palmwood. I was close to where my brother lived in a local retirement village - We thought the breakfast was excellent. The combination of fresh fruit, cereal/muesli and yogurt. was both health and delicious.
I liked the local knowledge, so that we knew where to eat in Palmwood.
Both Chris and Deb were very helpful with all of out requests. There wasn't anything I didn't like.
- Geoff (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (7/5): Would stay again - It was close to where I wanted to be. Nothing, value for money
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Nicky (7/5): Great location, great facilities, just a little noisy - The owners greeted me and extremely friendly and courteous showing me around. The facilities were comfortable and clean, and the location was just around the corner from where I was attending a conference. The apartment back onto the owners living room and the TV in conversations could be clearly heard in the apartment. No doubt if I had somebody with me they would also be able to hear my conversations. This could be easily fixed by installing a solid core door between the two residences. The amenities were great however there were missing cutlery.
- Matthew (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable to stay. The room is attached to the house of the owner, who is very friendly.
- Christine (10/5): Perfect - It's a very quiet place with a lovely garden.
The room was well decorated and spacious.
The host was very welcoming. Nothing.
- Kerri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dwayne (6/5): - Not for me
- Annie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nan (9/5): Superb - Great location with beautiful hinterland view. Very friendly and helpful host . The single room is clean , quiet , with very comfortable bed and bedding.
- Ferguson (9/5): Quiet & comfortable - Friendliness of the owners
- Chris (7/5): Good -
- Khalyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kara (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (9/5): Like coming home - Location & friendly owners. Feels like home to us - super relaxing & jus what we needed Nothing
- Jolie (7/5): Good -
- Lisa (8/5): Very good -
- Caryn (10/5): Very comfortable - Convenient location for the conference I was attending. It was excellent
- Sharene (8/5): Lovely friendly hosts and dogs - Lovely hosts and their collies. Good location easily accessible to sunny coast. Clean and functional bathroom and bedroom. Overall I think some more kitchenette facilities would do wonders but they’ve done well with the space.
Bed was comfy too
- Kelsi (10/5): Would stay again 100%! - The owners were so lovely, it felt like staying in an old school b&b. The pillow was really thick, but they might have had other options in the closet, I didn’t look.
- Jessie (7/5): Good - The bed was very comfortable bed. There was no water to drink, as there wasn't a sink. There needs to be a jug/bottle of water in the fridge each day. And there was no curtain/blind on the bathroom windows for privacy.
- Ben (1/5): Bad -
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): 10/10 - 10/10
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - very clean and comfortable bed
- Verified traveler (6/5): - They weren't expecting me, and the room wasn't ready. Renovations started at 7am, and the banging was annoying. Despite this, I would stay again. The hosts were lovely and very apologetic. Their dogs were friendly. I only required a bed to sleep in and a cup of tea in the morning.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect and the hosts were very friendly The rain haha
- Beverley (8/5): Quiet and comfortable - The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in whilst traveling.
Beautiful area to explore. Outside needs a little tidying up.
First impressions are important.
- Glenys (10/5): - Cozy comfortable rooms. Hosts went out of their way to make an enjoyable experience. A very pleasant stay.
- Vera (10/5): Exceptional - It was roomy, and quite.just lovely thankyou for your service, nice to speak to a person. The paths need a good clean.
- Warwick (10/5): - Chris and Deb's Economy Double Room definitely exceeds expectations. My partner and I were expecting a smaller dingy little space with adequate sleeping arrangements and basic facilities.
What we were met with was a very helpful Chris (We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Deb) who clearly takes pride in the space and hosting guests. The bed is comfortable and the room clean with all the usual expected amenities of a mid level hotel room. Recently they have also added a coffee machine which is a great touch and really appreciated.
While the toilet and shower facilities are shared with the owners, they still feel somewhat private. There's no walking through to the other end of the house. They are on the other side of the (downstairs) walkway so you can duck in and out easily. They aren't hotel grade but for anyone agreeable with standard facilities they adequate, functional and comfortable.
If I'm ever back up on the Sunshine Coast and in need of a place to stay I'll definitely keep this option in the forefront of my mind.
- David (1/5): It was a horror show - The furniture inside the cabin was comfy. We stayed in the queen "cottage". *Warning* for dog owners. Please be careful if you're intending to bring your furry friend. Contrary to the advertising, the two dogs on property are not "very friendly". There are two border collies, one of whom is dominant and aggressive, and who attacked our 10 month old puppy. We've never heard our dog screaming like this before. The owner tried to brush this aside laughing away and showed no remorse, which we found unbelievably inconsiderate given this is advertised as a pet friendly stay.
The property is not 100% fully fenced as this dominant collie chased our dog around the front of the property (after we locked the gate).
Other things to note are that:
- this is not a "cottage", rather a two room cabin that's connected to the owner's property.
- the balcony is not "private", rather completely continuous with the owner's balcony aside from a see through mesh fence.
- the cabin reeks of animal pee, so much that we found it difficult to sleep.
- the owner's backyard includes loose tiles, which we tripped on.
- breakfast is not included in the price, despite it being the first item advertised here.
- Brendan (6/5): - Great location. Very close to where we were attending a wedding. Shared bathroom with hosts which was not advertised.
- Mark (8/5): Comfortable overnight stay - Chris greeted us upon arrival and gave an informative rundown of Palmwoods. The bed was comfortable, although a little squeaky. Netflix was a bonus, and we watched a great movie after dinner. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.
- Justine (9/5): Lovely place to stay would have liked to have been able to stay longer. Peaceful location. -
- Jennifer (4/5): Disappointing -
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely everything, beautiful amazing caring people
- Sonam (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (8/5): A nice space and a comfortable bed. The hosts were friendly & very helpful. Most enjoyable. -
- Tina (8/5): Short and sweet, perfect for out needs -
- Howard (8/5): We had a lovely peaceful one night stay and would have liked to stay a little longer. - Lovely location and cosy accommodation. Main bed comfy with beautiful linen and furnishings throughout. Breakfast was delightful. Tea and coffee making facilities were superior. Having to make up the sofa bed. Bath missing a plug. Very little to not like.
- David (6/5): - Lack of security and no privacy window for toilet and shower.
- Geoff (10/5): - Chris was super helpful on our arrival after dark, greeting us at the carport with umbrellas because of the rain. He had upgraded us to the ultra comfortable villa suite where we luxuriated for the night after dining at a local hotel.
Winston Cottage B&B is a gem of a place and would be a great base for exploring the region.
Many thanks Chris & Deb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Debra (8/5): Good location to a number of places to visit. Welcoming Hosts. - The location for our trip was excellent. Close to a number of our intended destinations. We very much enjoyed our continental breakfasts with some treats. The bed was comfortable. Chris and Deb were wonderful hosts. Glass outside sliding door difficult to lock.
- Kerrie (10/5): We only stayed the night and it was very clean and cosy. Our host was lovely and came out to meet us and to say goodbye - Cosy & tidy with lovely views across the hills. Fully fenced balcony and yard for our dog. Nothing.
- Johnny (8/5): Very good - Friendly owner and nice room setup The dog smell
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benji (9/5): Fabulous! - Hosts were wonderful and friendly. Very accomodating I was alone, but had I been with someone else I might have been worried about making noise as the host's room was close by.
- Joe (10/5): - Nice quiet property which suited my short stay overnight and host was very helpful.
Highly recommend
